The Life Of A Conqueror: Alexander The Great

Alexander III of Macedon, commonly referred to as Alexander the Great, became the king of Macedon at the young age of 20. Although he only reigned for a short 12 years, during his time as king, he led a massive military campaign through Asia and northeast Africa. By the time he was 30, he had forged one of the largest empires in the ancient world that stretched from Greece to northwestern India. Source

Biden Lied, Your Wallet Died

President Joe Biden’s retelling of economic history could win a fiction award. He recently claimed in an interview that inflation “was 9% when I came into office,” even though it was 1.4% at that time. Not only is Biden lying about the historical record, but it was his policies that fueled the inflation fire. The facts are clear: Biden was handed an economy that was recovering at an unprecedented pace. Gross domestic product was rising at an annualized rate of $1.5 trillion. Annual inflation as measured by the consumer price index was 1.4%. A monthly average of 1.5 million people were returning to work as lockdowns were lifted. Just a year and a half later, Biden managed to deliver two consecutive quarters of negative GDP—the traditional definition of a recession—while driving annual inflation up to 9.1%. In June 2022 alone, the consumer price index rose 1.2%, an increase almost as large as the entire year before Biden took office. What caused prices to rise about as fast in a single month as they had over the course of a whole year? In a word, “Bidenomics.” The president’s multitrillion-dollar spending spree has been paid for with borrowed money, lent by the Federal Reserve that dutifully created that cash out of nothing. The result was trillions of dollars in new money without a commensurate increase in the size of the economy. That reduced the value of each individual dollar—a phenomenon we call inflation—and prices rose at the fastest rate in four decades. It’s difficult to overstate just how disastrous is Biden’s record on inflation and what a baldfaced lie it is to claim inflation was 9% when he was inaugurated, not a year and a half later.  Some historical context illustrates the point. From the end of the Great Recession until Biden took office, the average increase in the consumer price index was equivalent to an annual inflation rate of just 1.8%, and even less than that in January 2021. But for the first year and a half of Biden’s presidency, that average exploded to 8.5% as he led the big spenders of both parties in racking up trillions of dollars in new debt. Since June 2022, the average increase in the consumer price index has been equivalent to an annual inflation rate of 3.4%, with the lower rate largely due to the Fed creating less money for the government to spend. That means the current pace of price increases is almost twice as fast as it was before Biden took office. While it’s true prices aren’t rising as fast as they were at the worst point of the Biden administration, today’s inflation is piling on to the previous price increases, compounding the pain for Americans. The consumer price index has risen almost 20% under Biden, but that doesn’t even include some major expenses for millions of Americans, like the cost of homeownership. The monthly mortgage payment on a median-price home has increased a stratospheric 115% on Biden’s watch. Unfortunately, there’s no end in sight for “Bidenflation.” The president and his big-spender allies in Congress have already added $6.9 trillion to the federal debt, and his Treasury Department recently announced that it expects to borrow almost $900 billion more in the third quarter of this year alone. Worse yet, the White House is pushing for a $7.3 trillion budget next year—a level never seen before—and all that spending will mean more borrowing and more inflation. That’s particularly troubling since inflation has already begun reaccelerating in recent months. Biden’s Orwellian rewriting of history is not only an attempt to absolve himself of any culpability for inflation, but also to pretend that his policies didn’t cause the problem. That provides political cover for him to advocate more of those same policies, throwing fuel on the inflation fire. Colorado Middle School Requires Teachers to Show LGBTQ+ ‘Day of Silence’ Video to Students

A middle school in Colorado set time aside for all students and staff to participate in a daylong LGBTQ+ celebration, encouraging students to watch a promotional video, complete “solidarity” activities, and buy related merchandise. On April 19, Campus Middle School in the municipality of Greenwood Village required staff to show a video and distribute worksheets and a list of activities encouraging students to participate in the LGBTQ+ “Day of Silence,” documents obtained by The Daily Signal show. Campus Middle School is part of the Cherry Creek School District, which serves over 53,000 students in Greenwood Village across 67 buildings. In a Day of Silence, created by LGBTQ+ activists, participants are encouraged to remain silent for the day “in solidarity” with those whom activists claim are “bullied,” “marginalized,” and “harassed” for being gay, bisexual, nonbinary, transgender, or another sexual expression that became trendy in the past decade. On April 12, one week before its celebration, Campus Middle School administrators notified staff that the entire school would participate in the solidarity event sponsored by the school’s extracurricular LGBTQ+ group, called the Campus Spectrum Club.  Spectrum Club advisers told teachers to let students refrain from speaking in class unless absolutely necessary. Parents weren’t notified at all. On April 15, Barry Sterling—described on Cherry Creek Public Schools’ website as an instructional coach, yearbook adviser, and Spectrum adviser—sent an email instructing Campus Middle School faculty to show a video to students during a daily “Advisory” period, 18 minutes during which students meet with a school adviser or counselor. In the video, the a cappella group Pentatonix sings John Lennon’s song “Imagine” as slides encourage students to participate in the Day of Silence and buy buttons from Spectrum showing their support. Although the video shown to students includes a call for “solidarity” with those “bullied and harassed” for their race and religion, there is little evidence that a Day of Silence ever has been observed for any “marginalized” individuals except those identifying as LGBTQ+. The videos, emails, and slides from Campus Middle School were provided to The Daily Signal by the Colorado Parent Advocacy Network, a parental rights watchdog organization.  The documents were compiled by local teachers and parents and confirmed by requests under the Colorado Open Records Act, said Lori Gimelshteyn, president of the parents group.  Although the Cherry Creek School District didn’t confirm or deny the authenticity of the documents and videos shared with The Daily Signal, a district representative confirmed that parents were not notified about Campus Middle School’s observance of the Day of Silence for LGBTQ+ individuals. “I believe schools and parents should work together to educate their children,” Campus Middle School parent Karl Dierenbach told The Daily Signal. “When Campus Middle School hides activism like the Day of Silence from parents, it diminishes trust in the school. Why wouldn’t they tell us about this so we can discuss it with our children?  What else are they not telling us?” Cherry Creek School District is one of hundreds of public school districts around the United States that have come under fire from parents in recent years for misleading them about or hiding political, racial, and sexual policies and activities. The Daily Signal has reported on school districts in over a dozen states that have hidden, obfuscated, or lied about liberal activist policies and curriculums funded by taxpayers. Parents Defending Education, an education watchdog group, reported that Cherry Creek High School provided a newsletter to teachers in February encouraging them to “dismantle systems of oppression.” According to a poster obtained by The Daily Signal from the Colorado Parent Advocacy Network, Campus Middle School hosted a series of professional development sessions for staff April 9 through May 7 called “Transforming Classrooms Into LGBTQ+ Affirming Spaces.” The school district did not respond to The Daily Signal’s question about the poster’s authenticity by time of publication. Gimelshteyn told The Daily Signal that she believes “cloak and dagger” incidents such as these are responsible for membership “skyrocketing” in her Colorado Parent Advocacy Network. The surge in interest in parental rights comes as “parents discover the dishonesty lurking in Colorado schools,” she said. Historic German Church Hosts Worship Service Ft. Taylor Swift Songs

That’s certainly an interesting way to get young people to church. The Church of the Holy Spirit in Heidelberg, Germany, put on a service titled “Anti-Hero — Taylor Swift Church Service,” over the weekend in an attempt to get young people into church. According to Deutsche Welle, the pop singer tie-in resulted in bringing more than 1,200 people on Sunday to listen to Taylor Swift’s music. The 600-year-old church, which is now a Protestant church, set up the event to “attract younger people, as well as to focus on the profound religious convictions expressed in many of Swift’s songs.” Pastor Christof Ellsiepen said the following about his intentions with helping set up the service: “The Church of the Holy Spirit has always been a place of encounter and exchange. That's why a pop-music religious service fits so perfectly. With it, we are giving space to the questions and issues that occupy the younger generation." The German congregation insisted that there were Christian themes in Swift’s music.  Parish Pastor Vincenzo Petracca noted that for Taylor Swift, her “faith and action are inseparable” and said that “theologically speaking, she points to the justness of God.” The church, which held two of these stupid services, also left out a gay sign on stage behind its musicians noting that “all sizes, all [colors], all cultures, all sexes, all beliefs, all religions, all ages, all types, all people” were welcome at the congregation. Naturally though, the services were mostly filled up with young females who likely came to the service for the T-Swift sing-a-long rather than to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Among the six total Swift songs performed by Tine Weichmann, a singer from the area, was the song, “Soon You’ll Get Better,” written for Swift's mother who was battling cancer. In it, Swift notes “each night I pray to you / Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus, too.” Related: WATCH: Taylor Swift, Social Media Slaves & Entitled Invaders Pastor Petracca noted that during that song, many in the congregation teared up.  Yet, even in that line, Swift is implying that she only prayed to save her mom as if to say “desperate times call for desperate measures,” and that she doesn’t regularly pray like actual Christians do. Of course, the performers also sang “Shake It Off,” which allegedly “brought the entire congregation to their feet, singing and dancing before breaking into furious applause.” But remember, they weren't jumping with joy for the son of God but for Taylor Swift's song. In another one of her songs, “Bigger Than the Whole Sky,” which many speculate is about a miscarriage, Swift sings the line, “Did some force take you because I didn't pray?” Where, if speculations are true, she’s insisting that some sort of higher being - God - took her baby away because she wasn’t praying. While Taylor Swift may use lines that point out God or some sort of religious practice, they’re not worship songs and by no means a role model of accurate theology. But, leave it to progressive “Christianity” to take Taylor Swift who arguably doesn’t practice religion that closely or at all, and use her as a role model for a religious leader for young girls.
