NASA researchers have discovered a “Super Earth” in our Milky Way galaxy that is within its host star’s habitable zone and may contain water on its surface‚ which could indicate the presence of life. TOI-715 b‚ which the scientists discovered using the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS)‚ lies 137 light years from Earth‚ and is estimated to be one and a half times as wide as Earth. Although it rests much closer to its star than the Earth to the Sun and orbits it every 19 days (as opposed to the Earth’s 365-day orbit) the star is a red dwarf‚ far cooler than our Sun‚ thus permitting the planet the possibility of life. “These planets make far closer orbits than those around stars like our Sun‚ but because red dwarfs are smaller and cooler‚ the planets can crowd closer and still be safely within the star’s habitable zone‚” NASA stated. “The tighter orbits also mean those that cross the faces of their stars – that is‚ when viewed by our space telescopes – cross far more often.” “The same system also might harbor a second‚ Earth-sized planet‚” NASA continued. “If the possible second‚ Earth-sized planet in the system also is confirmed‚ it would become the smallest habitable-zone planet discovered by TESS so far.” NASA is hoping the James Webb Telescope might examine the planet to determine if it contains an atmosphere. “Much will depend on the planet’s other properties‚ including how massive it is and whether it can be classed as a ‘water world’ – making its atmosphere‚ if present‚ more prominent and far less difficult to detect than that of a more massive‚ denser and drier world‚ likely to hold its lower-profile atmosphere closer to the surface‚” NASA states. Major policy change: The incumbent administration effects major changes in national policy. No social unrest: There is no sustained social unrest during the term. No scandal: The incumbent administration is untainted by major scandal. No foreign/military failure: The incumbent administration suffers no major failure in foreign or military affairs. Major foreign/military success: The incumbent administration achieves a major success in foreign or military affairs. Charismatic incumbent: The incumbent party candidate is charismatic or a national hero. Uncharismatic challenger: The challenging party candidate is not charismatic or a national hero. Lichtman said Biden led Trump in key# 2‚ as Biden has not faced a serious challenger in his own party; key #3‚ as he is the incumbent; key #6‚ claiming the long-term economic trend is headed upward; key # 7‚ that Biden has made major changes‚ and #13‚ explaining that a challenger should have broadly bipartisan support or be a national hero in the way former President Dwight Eisenhower was after World war II. A stray dog had a stroke of luck when members of the Coast Guard managed to rescue her from a shipping container that she’d been trapped inside for at least eight days. The dog‚ nicknamed “Connie the container dog‚” by the Coast Guard‚ somehow got locked inside a shipping container before it was delivered to Houston‚ Texas. She remained there without food or water until Officer Ryan McMahon and his team heard her barking while they were doing a routine inspection. Connie’s container was stacked 25 feet in the air. So the guardsman brought in a crane to lower it to the ground. A video of the rescue posted on TikTok shows the dog appearing weak as she emerged from the box. Hailing from Scotland‚ band members wear modernized versions of traditional Scottish attire. That means kilts‚ sporrans‚ and knee socks.
