NASHVILLE‚ TENNESSEE—Former President Donald Trump compared the criminal indictments he faces to the Biden administration’s targeting of Christians as he spoke at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention Thursday night. “For all Americans‚ but especially for Christians‚ nothing is more important than to defeat this wicked system and to return to equal and impartial justice under the constitutional rule of law‚” the former president said. “They’re weaponizing law enforcement to target parents‚ conservatives‚ and Catholics‚” Trump noted‚ citing the (since-rescinded) Department of Justice memo targeting concerned parents of public school children in 2021 and the memo from the FBI’s Richmond‚ Virginia‚ office urging investigations into “radical-traditional Catholic hate groups‚” citing the Southern Poverty Law Center. “Catholics‚ they’re being persecuted. He noted that these protesters got “convicted on outrageous charges.” The former president was referring to pro-life activists Chet Gallagher‚ Coleman Boyd‚ Heather Idoni‚ Cal Zastrow‚ Dennis Green‚ and Paul Vaughn‚ who were convicted and face up to 11 years in prison due to their peaceful protest in the hallway outside a Mount Juliet abortion facility in March 2021. Last month‚ a Nashville grand jury found them guilty of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and conspiracy against rights. “These are persecuted Christians. The networks are doing their level best to continue to fuel the ongoing panic over in-vitro fertilization treatments (IVF) in the wake of Alabama’s Supreme Court opinion that granted embryos rights equal to those of a child in utero. But from watching the coverage‚ it is pretty obvious that what is happening is about something beyond just IVF. The most nakedly obvious framing comes‚ as is often the case‚ via ABC’s David Muir on World News Tonight: DAVID MUIR: Meantime‚ back here in the U.S. tonight‚ and to the new fallout that could affect so many women in this country. It comes after that decision declaring frozen embryos are people by Alabama's highest court. Tonight‚ more Alabama hospitals and clinics have halted IVF‚ even with women‚ families‚ in the middle of treatments. Tonight‚ Vice President Kamala Harris saying this is because of Donald Trump and his picks for the Supreme Court overturning Roe. ABC and CBS filed similar reports containing similar elements: the IVF patients scrambling to come up with a contingency after their clinics suspended their programs‚ some statement or other from the IVF providers‚ the high financial cost of IVF‚ a tie-in to presidential politics with some clip from Vice President Kamala Harris‚ and some sort of reference to the Dobbs opinion that did away with Roe v. Wade. NBC was a bit more intellectually honest in that they bifurcated the storytelling element from the political element and filed two different reports. Correspondent Laura Jarrett handled the personal storytelling elements with patient accounts and statements from the providers. Correspondent Dasha Burns’ filing from CPAC centered around the politics of the ruling‚ with statements from multiple elected officials‚ including President Joe Biden and Senator Tommy Tuberville among others. But why fuel the panic? There are eight IVF clinics total in Alabama‚ and three have paused their procedures. This means that five clinics remain wherein people can seek and obtain services. So‚ not a total shutdown of IVF.  The panic point for the media is the Court’s grant of personhood to human embryos. Such a finding‚ were it to be upheld by the United States Supreme Court‚ drives a dagger into efforts to codify Roe. Personhood‚ even if not uttered out loud‚ is the whole ball game and the media know it. It’s hard to imagine the liberal media caring too much about IVF except that these stories enable advocacy for a Roe restoration. The nation reels over images of Venezuelan migrants beating up on New York cops in Times Square‚ and is disgusted to discover that the dangerous transnational criminal gang known as Tren de Aragua has established beachheads in New York‚ Miami and Chicago. Reasonable people might believe that it is time‚ perhaps‚ to accelerate deportation of these criminal elements back to Venezuela. But did you know that the Maduro dictatorship stopped allowing deportation flights from the US? Per The Wall Street Journal: Venezuela has followed through on a threat to stop accepting flights of migrants deported from the U.S. and Mexico‚ people familiar with the measures say‚ adding pressure on President Biden as a surge in illegal migration becomes a key issue in this year’s presidential election. President Nicolás Maduro’s authoritarian regime introduced the measure after Washington reimposed some of the economic sanctions it had previously lifted on Venezuela. The U.S. said that Caracas has failed to live up to the loose pledges it made to restore the democratic order and move toward holding fair presidential elections. Venezuela has also asserted a claim to a resource-rich region of neighboring Guyana‚ drawing further warnings from the U.S. The almost weekly flights from the U.S. to Venezuela came to a stop in late January‚ U.S. officials said‚ after an initial deal was struck in October. The chances of restarting them now appear bleak as relations between the two sides deteriorate‚ according to people involved in the discussions. In sum‚ Maduro followed up on his threat to block incoming deportation flights from the U.S. over a snapback of sanctions‚ levied in response to the regime’s continued exclusion of opposition presidential candidate María Corina Machado from the ballot. We covered that threat when it happened a little over three weeks ago‚ while ABC‚ CBS‚ and NBC did not. The networks chose instead to continue to shill for the dead Senate border deal.  In lieu of shilling for the dead border deal‚ the networks now shill for the new Biden executive orders on immigration that are expected to come down the pike momentarily (no word on whether these orders will actually reverse his first batch of executive orders that created this border mess in the first place). Therefore‚ there has been no time‚ whether on ABC‚ CBS‚ NBC‚ Telemundo or Univision‚ to explain that Biden has no way of actually returning Venezuelan illegal aliens to their home country.  This ongoing saga serves as a reminder that Biden's border policy is at the mercy of two Latin American socialists. The first just halted deportation flights. The second‚ Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO)‚ blew up at The New York Times over a report alleging that the cartels were funneling money to his closest assistant during the 2006 presidential campaign‚ and doxxed the NYT's Mexico City bureau chief.  And AMLO‚ who has operational control over the southern border‚ is mad at the Biden administration over this old investigation.  Which‚ again‚ you didn't hear about on the network evening newscasts.
