House Democrat calls for Pentagon chief to resign: 'I have lost trust in Secretary Lloyd Austin's leadership'

Democratic Rep. Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania is calling for Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin to resign."I have lost trust in Secretary Lloyd Austin’s leadership of the Defense Department due to the lack of transparency about his recent medical treatment and its impact on the continuity of the chain of command. I have a solemn duty in Congress to conduct oversight of the Defense Department through my service on the House Armed Services Committee. That duty today requires me to call on Secretary Austin to resign‚" Deluzio said in a statement. "I thank Secretary Austin for his leadership and years of dedicated service to the American people and wish him a speedy recovery‚" he added. — (@) Some Republicans have called for Austin to step down. GOP Rep. Matt Rosendale of Montana is pushing a resolution that targets the Pentagon chief for impeachment over the infamous Chinese spy balloon that flew above the U.S. last year.Austin was hospitalized on January 1 due to health issues following a December prostatectomy performed due to prostate cancer‚ according to a January 9 statement from Dr. John Maddox and Dr. Gregory Chesnut.President Joe Biden learned about of the hospitalization on January 4‚ according to NSC coordinator for strategic communications John Kirby‚ who also said that Biden only learned about the prostate cancer on January 9.Austin is still hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center‚ Pentagon Press Sec. Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder noted in a statement on Wednesday‚ noting that the defense secretary "is in good condition."Like Blaze News? Police say home's heater was found to measure 1‚000 degrees where elderly couple was found dead

An elderly couple was found dead inside their South Carolina home and police say that the heater was measured to be about 1‚000 degrees. A report from the Spartanburg Police Department said that the couple's family asked them on Saturday to perform a welfare check at their house after not hearing from them since Wednesday. When police went to the home on Woodview Avenue at about 6 p.m. they said that they found all of the doors were locked‚ but one window was unsecured. When officers pulled the screen from the window and looked inside‚ they said they saw that the couple was dead. Medics pulled themselves through the window and found that the home was "extremely hot." Investigators said the man was laying unclothed in bed facing upward while his wife was found slouched in a chair by the foot of the bed. Police said there were no signs of a struggle or of foul play‚ and firefighters said they found no evidence of carbon monoxide poisoning. Medics tried to read the couple's temperature with a device that read up to 106 degrees and found that both bodies had a temperature exceeding that maximum. The family of the couple told police that they had seen them on Wednesday after they tried to fix the pilot light on the heater‚ which had gone out. They also said the woman had recently had a hip replacement and the man had fallen. When the emergency responders went to the basement to check on the heater and water heater‚ one firefighter said "the heater was so hot it looked as if the basement was currently on fire."They said that when they measured the temperature of the heater it registered 1‚000 degrees‚ and they had to air out the home because of the presence of the strong odor of natural gas. Oregon officials told man's family he died from drug overdose and gave them his ashes. Months later‚ he was found alive.

Oregon officials contacted a family to let them know that their relative had been found dead from a drug overdose‚ but months later‚ they admitted they had made a mistake. On Sept. 11 the family of Tyler Chase was told that he had died and the body was cremated on Oct. 1. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office issued a death certificate after identifying him. The family received the ashes of someone whom they believed was their relative. Three months later‚ on Dec. 19‚ officials told the family that they had made a mistake and that Chase was still alive. Chase's cousin Latasha Rosales spoke to KGW-TV about the bizarre call they received. "I just lost it‚" said Rosales. "It is so hard to believe how something like this could even happen. It just makes no sense to me." County investigators said they contacted the family as soon as they discovered the error. They did not release the actual identify of the dead man. "I can't even imagine how they feel‚" Rosales said of the man's family. "Their child‚ their brother‚ their loved one was cremated. He passed away without them even being notified.” The medical examiner's office confirmed the story to KGW on Monday. "Misidentification is extremely rare but has been reported in a small number of cases nationwide‚" said the office in a statement. Officials said the mistake was made because the dead man had in his possession Chase's wallet‚ including his temporary Oregon driver's license at the time of his death‚ and the family had declined to identify the dead body as belonging to their relative. "Although television often shows people identifying their loved ones at a Medical Examiner’s Office‚ in reality‚ most Medical Examiner’s Offices do not have viewing facilities‚" the statement continued. "Families are able to view their loved one and confirm their identity at the funeral home making the arrangements." The office said it would update its identification methods in order to prevent a similar error in the future. Here's a news report about the incident: Like Blaze News? Mark Zuckerberg says cattle he's raising on a Hawaiian island will 'grow up eating macadamia meal and drinking beer'

Mark Zuckerberg said that he is raising cattle on the Hawaiian island of Kauai with the objective of making some of the best beef on earth. He noted that the animals will be raised consuming beer and macadamia meal."Started raising cattle at Ko'olau Ranch on Kauai‚ and my goal is to create some of the highest quality beef in the world. The cattle are wagyu and angus‚ and they'll grow up eating macadamia meal and drinking beer that we grow and produce here on the ranch. We want the whole process to be local and vertically integrated‚" he noted on social media. "Each cow eats 5‚000-10‚000 pounds of food each year‚ so that's a lot of acres of macadamia trees. My daughters help plant the mac trees and take care of our different animals. We're still early in the journey and it's fun improving on it every season. Of all my projects‚ this is the most delicious‚" he wrote See on Instagram Zuckerberg‚ the uber-wealthy founder‚ chairman‚ and CEO of Big Tech behemoth Meta‚ was also involved in fighting‚ but announced last year that he had undergone surgery after tearing his ACL."Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year‚ but now that's delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover‚" he posted in November. In a post earlier this week‚ Zuckerberg shared a video of a catapult launching an object. "Always be building #7386. Catapult competition‚ round 2‚" he wrote. See on Instagram Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
