Nurse claims 11-year-old carjacked her at gunpoint while she was making DoorDash delivery: 'Where is your mom?'

A woman in Virginia claims that two young people‚ one of whom is just 11 years old‚ carjacked her at gunpoint when she was out making a delivery for DoorDash.By day‚ 40-year-old Deon Smith usually works as a certified nursing assistant providing at-home care. But for the past two years‚ Smith has also been working for DoorDash from about 6 p.m. until midnight‚ a part-time job she picked up in the hopes that she could save enough to buy a house for herself and her 10-year-old daughter. After midnight on November 30‚ Smith was wrapping up her DoorDash shift but had one more stop to make at an apartment complex in South Richmond. Smith told Scripps News Richmond that when she parked her car at the complex‚ she spotted two "kids" outside. She left her car running‚ quickly dropped off the food‚ and returned to her vehicle — when the two kids she had seen earlier no longer appeared quite so child-like."The little one approached me. I was thinking he was asking for money or something‚" she recalled‚ "but little did I know he was pointing a gun at me asking for my keys."It turns out the "little one" was just 11 years old. "When he told me that he was going to shoot me‚ I was like‚ 'Are you serious? You want to kill somebody at your age?'" Smith said.Smith claimed she then tried to de-escalate the situation‚ asking the boy questions such as "where is your mom?" and "why are you out here this time of night?" but the questions did no good. The older boy‚ 18‚ crawled into the front seat of Smith's car and yelled at the younger boy to hop in.The suspects then demanded that Smith get in as well‚ but she refused. They then drove away‚ and Smith called the police. An hour later‚ Smith learned that the suspects' joyride didn't last long. According to a Richmond Police spokesperson‚ the boys crashed the vehicle in a "rural" area of Henrico County. There are also reports that the vehicle had been set on fire. Smith claimed she had just paid the vehicle off in September. The boys‚ described by police as "juveniles‚" sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the alleged incident and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. They were also arrested and charged with robbery.Meanwhile‚ the ordeal has left Smith without a vehicle‚ a vehicle she needs for her daytime and nighttime jobs. A GoFundMe account established by two individuals affected by Smith's loving care as a nurse claimed that Smith has not yet been able to return to either of her two jobs. But her prospects may be brightening. As of early Thursday afternoon‚ the account had already raised more than $15‚000 of the $20‚000 goal‚ so Smith may have a replacement vehicle in the near future."Just pray and ask God to protect you at all costs‚ just to keep life‚" Smith told Scripps News. "A car can be replaced‚ but your life cannot be."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Elon Musk to open new university in Texas 'focused on teaching in STEM subjects'

Tax filings originally obtained by Bloomberg revealed that Elon Musk plans to open a school in Austin‚ Texas‚ "focused on teaching in STEM subjects."Musk's private foundation‚ "The Foundation‚" requested tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service as it continues to formulate plans to open an independent primary and secondary school that will eventually "expand its operations to create a university dedicated to education at the highest levels." The university will seek accreditation.Musk‚ who moved to Texas in 2020‚ gave the Foundation roughly $100 million to launch the new project. In 2022‚ Musk sent $2.2 billion worth of Tesla stock to the Foundation. The October 2022 tax-exempt application to the IRS notes that the Foundation anticipates that the school will initially enroll approximately 50 students and grow over time.Musk's school will combine formal and "hands-on" learning experiences in subjects such as math‚ science‚ engineering‚ and physics. Students will participate in simulations‚ case studies‚ fabrication and design projects‚ and labs."The School does not want the inability to pay tuition or fees to be a barrier for its students‚" the filing notes. "Thus‚ if a student is admitted to the School‚ tuition and financial support will be provided to the extent of available resources."According to the filing‚ the school is already in the process of hiring an executive director‚ teachers‚ and administrators."All of the School's time will initially be allocated to launching a primary and secondary school. Once this school is successfully operating‚ a portion of the School's time will be allocated to creation of the university and other related charitable activities‚" it added. The school will be funded through donations and tuition fees. Students will be admitted "based on merit‚" "proven academic and scientific potential‚" and demonstration of "academic curiosity and discipline‚ independence‚ and innovation." The application notes that students will not be admitted based on their relationship with the school's trustees or employees. The Foundation's trustees include Jared Birchall‚ Steven Chidester‚ Ronald Gong‚ and Teresa Holland.Musk also reportedly plans to build his own town on thousands of acres of farmland outside the Austin area‚ equipped with recreational facilities and subsidized housing for Tesla‚ SpaceX‚ and Boring Co. employees‚ the Wall Street Journal previously reported.Musk's representatives did not respond to a request for comment from Bloomberg.Like Blaze News? Transgender volleyball player reportedly awarded women's scholarship‚ Riley Gaines reacts: 'How can he be proud?'

A transgender high school volleyball player — who was born a male — has been awarded a scholarship to play on the women's team‚ according to a new report. Tate Drageset‚ 17‚ has verbally committed to the University of Washington after being offered a scholarship by the university‚ according to Reduxx. The transgender player will reportedly seize one of the 12 highly-coveted scholarships designated for women at the University of Washington. The scholarships are "often spread out over the course of four years‚ with as few as two to three being offered per year‚" the outlet reported. The transgender player will purportedly become the first known biological male recipient of a women’s Division 1 athletic scholarship.Drageset has been a dominant force when playing against girls in high school. Drageset was awarded the title of the California Interscholastic Federation’s Division 5 Player of the 2022-23 Year. Drageset was named an MVP at the Girls Junior National Championships.Last summer‚ Drageset was a major contributor to two USA Volleyball teams in two separate age groups that both went on to win national titles. Drageset also plays Teqball — a sport played on a curved ping pong table that has volleyball aspects. Earlier this year‚ Drageset won a silver medal and was awarded a $2‚000 prize while competing against professional female players at the Teqvoly World Tour.According to Reduxx‚ "But Drageset’s transgender status has reportedly been concealed from public knowledge‚ with coaches‚ parents‚ and opposing players being left uninformed of his biological sex ahead of games."Tate reportedly played against 14-year-old girls since Drageset was 12. A parent of a girl in the Southern California Volleyball Association community told the outlet‚ “You could tell even back then that he was different from the girls. As he got older‚ it became more obvious that something was off. Anytime the subject of [Drageset] would come up every parent from any SCVA team already knew about him. Parents look around before they speak in hushed tones. Some will wait to discuss until outside the gym."“Everyone is scared of how their child will be treated if they speak up. It’s already so competitive to get on a good club team‚” the parent said. “The stealing of positions and opportunities has been infuriating and so sad when you see how it affects the girls. There is no concern for their mental health or safety after being replaced.”The Independent Council on Women’s Sports said female athletes and their families have not been made aware that they are competing against a male athlete. “We know many of the girls he’s playing against do not know that they are competing against a male‚” said Marshi Smith — representative for the Independent Council on Women’s Sports. “There has been no consideration from his family to tell female athletes or coaches the truth. They have not been transparent‚ so girls are repeatedly and unknowingly put at a disadvantage and not given the chance to opt out over increased safety risks.”Former NCAA swimmer turned women's rights activist Riley Gaines railed against the possibility of a biological male receiving a scholarship intended for female athletes. Gaines wrote on the X social media platform‚ "Male takes women's volleyball scholarship at @UW... a soon-to-be Big 10 school. Stealing the already few opportunities for women at the collegiate level. How can he be proud? UWVolleyball should rescind the scholarship if they really care about women. He can play with the men."Gaines has been an advocate of women competing against women and not biological males since she battled transgender college swimmer Lia Thomas.Drageset was allegedly featured in a Los Angeles Times profile published in 2016. When Drageset was 6 years old‚ Tate's father showed Tate a video of transgender reality TV star Jazz Jennings. In 2015‚ Drageset's mother and father published a book for children ages 4 to 8 titled "'Pink is a Girl Color' ... and other silly things people say." The children's picture book is "designed to encourage young children to be their authentic selves regardless of where they fall on the gender spectrum‚ and to generate kindness and acceptance for those whose gender identity and expression challenges that of existing stereotypes."In 2021‚ the book was named during an inquiry into school district books that were questionable to be offered in Texas schools. Tate's mother‚ Stacey Drageset‚ produced a short documentary about Tate in 2016 titled "Trans-mission.love."Like Blaze News? Democrat school board member sworn in on stack of 'LGBT' literature‚ including book titled 'Flamer'

A school board member in Fairfax County‚ Virginia‚ chose to be sworn into office on a stack of what was described as LGBT-themed books‚ including what appeared to be a controversial book that includes graphic content featuring children."Last night in Virginia‚ Fairfax County School Board member [Karl Frisch] was sworn in on a stack 'LGBTQ themed' books‚ including one that depicts naked teenage boys‚" wrote Nicki Neily‚ founder of Parents Defending Education.Frisch‚ who lists his pronouns as "he/him‚" is the vice chair and Providence District representative on the Fairfax County School Board‚ according to his X profile. On his campaign website‚ Frisch lists his priorities as "Keeping Schools Safe and Inclusive‚" along with addressing the needs of "English language learners" and other "often marginalized groups." 🚨Last night in Virginia‚ Fairfax County School Board member @KarlFrisch was sworn in on a stack “LGBTQ themed” books‚ including one that depicts naked teenage boys.

Don't forget that the “book ban” narrative is part of a dishonest political campaign aimed at attacking parents.… — (@) One of the books visible during Frisch's swearing-in ceremony was titled "Flamer." This appeared to be the controversial graphic novel that was recently banned from a Georgia school board's libraries due to graphic‚ sexual imagery. The same book has been banned from multiple jurisdictions‚ including Costa Mesa‚ California‚ and Tulsa‚ Oklahoma‚ over its explicit storyline being promoted to children. One portion of the graphic novel shows children instructing other children to masturbate into a bottle. Another portion of the book mentions a child watching his father's pornography while a different scene depicts a child seeing an adult shower. In fact‚ Tahoma Parents lists multiple images from the book that depict teenage boys showering‚ talking about "boners‚" and a boy on his knees in front of a naked‚ adult male. The book's summary on Amazon described "award-winning author and artist Mike Curato‚" who "draws on his own experiences in Flamer‚ his debut graphic novel‚ telling a difficult story with humor‚ compassion‚ and love.""This book will save lives‚" said one featured reviewed.Blaze News reached out to Frisch's campaign but did not receive immediate response regarding why the books were chosen and whether he forwent the option to be sworn in on a Bible‚ the Constitution‚ or any other book. This article will be updated with any relevant responses.Like Blaze News? Biden's attempt to buy youth support with student loan cancellations isn't working

President Joe Biden has sought to curry favor with young voters ahead of the 2024 election by having others shoulder the burden of the debt they willingly incurred chasing after college degrees. Recent polling suggests these costly and contentious efforts have largely been in vain‚ a least with regard to Generation Z voters in critical swing states where Biden trails former President Donald Trump by several points. A recent Morning Consult/Bloomberg News poll revealed that when asked‚ "Is President Joe Biden doing too much‚ too little‚ or is he doing the right amount for addressing student loans?‚" 43% respondents ages 18 to 26 answered "too little." When the question was put to all age groups‚ 35% said Biden was doing too much; 24% said he was doing too little; 28% said he was doing the right amount; and 13% said they didn't know or were indifferent. While 59% of Gen Z respondents in swing states indicated they supported the debt cancellation initiative‚ only 42% said they had heard about the efforts underway‚ reported Bloomberg. So far in his presidency‚ Biden has cancelled $132 billion in student debt for over 3.6 million debtors. His administration originally had a costlier aim of canceling nearly half a trillion dollars in student debt‚ but the Supreme Court dashed those dreams in June with a 6-3 decision. Biden made clear he wouldn't let a close reading of the law get in the way of the initiative‚ vowing on June 30‚ "This fight is not over." "I believe that the Court's decision to strike down our student debt relief plan is wrong‚" he is credited as writing. "My Administration will continue to work to bring the promise of higher education to every American." In addition to the high court recognizing the administration was out of its depth‚ the Government Accountability Office indicated the administration's planned $430 billion federal student loan debt cancellation plan lacked safeguards to protect against fraud. Undeterred‚ Biden announced last week that his administration was approving $4.8 billion in student debt cancellation for 80‚300 people. The same poll indicated that hundreds of billions of dollars later‚ Biden's support amongst prospective Gen Z voters is nowhere near where it needs to be to overtake Trump in Arizona‚ Georgia‚ Michigan‚ Nevada‚ North Carolina‚ Pennsylvania‚ and Wisconsin. The Bloomberg poll indicated that Biden has the support of 44% of Gen Z voters versus Trump's 38%. Bloomberg suggested‚ "The disconnect illustrates one of the core challenges of Biden's campaign for a second term: He struggles to get credit from voters for policies intended to motivate them." In a head-to-head match up across seven swing states‚ Trump leads the 81-year-old president by five points. In Arizona‚ Trump leads by four points; in Georgia‚ six points; Michigan‚ four points; Nevada‚ three points; North Carolina‚ nine points; Pennsylvania‚ two points; and he leads Biden by four points in Wisconsin. The economy‚ not student debt‚ appears to be the most important issue‚ according to a plurality of voters. 42% of respondents ranked it as their single most important issue going into the 2024 election. 85% said it was a very important issue‚ and 12% suggested it was somewhat important. 51% of respondents said they trusted Trump more than Biden to handle the economy. Only 35% said they trusted Biden to get around to tackling the problem. Beside facing a deficit of faith amongst the majority‚ Biden also suffers their disapproval. 58% of respondents claimed to view the 81-year-old unfavorably. This is in keeping with the latest Rasmussen Reports survey‚ which indicated Biden found disapproval with 57% of respondents. Another troubling indication for the deeply unpopular president is that one in five Democrats in these swing states supports House Republicans' quest to launch an impeachment inquiry into him. Does THIS statistic make you think differently about our involvement in the Ukraine-Russia war?

The United States’ involvement in the war between Ukraine and Russia is a contentious topic among conservatives. Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum‚ however‚ it’s important to know what’s actually happening‚ especially when it comes to how American taxpayer dollars are being spent. Dave Rubin plays the clip of Ohio Senator J.D. Vance and Fox News’ Laura Ingraham discussing exactly where much of our hard-earned money is going. “We are funding one third of Ukraine's government; that includes teacher salaries‚ janitor salaries — everybody‚ not just the military — everybody's salaries are funded by the U.S. taxpayers as the people in our country are deciding between food or medicine right now‚” Ingraham said. “You're exactly right; we've got to focus on our own problems‚ Laura‚” Vance said‚ adding that “people in Ohio can't afford food; young people can't afford to buy homes [because] we're paying for their government.” “How about we deal with some of our problems here ... problems related to prices of food and things of that nature?” says Dave in agreement.
