RED-HAIRED‚ PIG-EARED HAIRY HOMINID Encountered in Northeast Delaware

This is an interesting account of a possible Bigfoot encounter in Northeast Delaware near the Delaware River. The description is curious‚ especially with the pig-like ears and wispy long red hair. The following account was forwarded to me:“I'm from Delaware. I guess I should start by saying I never truly believed in anything like Bigfoot Sasquatch or Swamp Apes. Before my encounter‚ I watched a couple of those silly 'Finding Bigfoot' shows as a general interest when they first came out. But to me‚ it was just a show about some idiots walking in the woods at night. I watched a couple of episodes and laughed at them and moved on. I always considered myself an open-minded person to all things probable but Bigfoot‚ at the time‚ was way out of my scope of consideration‚ outside of the famous Patterson film and the Sierra Sounds. I never heard anything more on the topic unless someone was making a joke or some new TV series or movie about the topic came on. As for what I saw it was nothing spectacular. Not like what I had heard‚ but it was enough to make me a true believer. My encounter happened on November 20‚ 2017‚ on the outskirts of Bear‚ Delaware. A close friend of mine and I had just moved there from Long Island‚ New York. Our home was a duplex that was at the end of a dead-end street. At the very end of the street was an old rusted and ivy-covered chain link fence that was so overgrown and bent over. Beyond the fence‚ it was all woodland and the look of the area had enchanted me to check it out. My friend and I are photographers for various Renaissance Fairs and we would find wooded areas to take photos of people in their garb. I asked our new neighbors about the woods and they said we should not go back there. They told us people have gone in those woods and have come out with injuries from a variety of animals and a couple of boys had drowned in the swamp back there many years before. In her words describing the swamp‚ "You'll never see it until you're in it." Despite this warning‚ I really wanted to check it out for myself. On the day in question‚ my friend left that morning to visit her mother and I stayed at the duplex. The weather was cold and windy‚ and it was a cloudy day with the feeling that we might be getting snow. I was so bored that I decided it was time to investigate the woods. I did not take my camera with me because I didn't plan to take any pictures and wanted to see if the terrain was not a trip hazard before I lugged in an expensive camera. I wanted to just make it back there to get an idea of the area and it was literally right next door to the duplex. I stepped over the fence and walked into the woods some 50 feet. After that point‚ the more I walked in I started to get this ominous feeling building up about me‚ but I tried to shake it off. The ground was all covered with what looked like many years of fallen leaves and sticks so it was like stepping on a 10-inch shag carpet. The trees were shedding whatever leaves still dared to cling on. I couldn't walk in this deep leafy area without making noise.I found a small open area and stopped to consider if it was a good spot to take pictures. Looking around that area for about 15 minutes I saw nothing much of interest to use for a photo shoot and that ominous feeling was still hanging around me. It never dawned on me till days later that I never heard anything in those woods the whole time I was in there. No birds‚ frogs‚ toads‚ or any other wildlife. Granted‚ it was close to winter‚ but still‚ even in New York birds were whistling about in the snow. I decided the area was dull and nothing to speak of‚ so I planned to find some other wooded place to take pictures.I began to head back to the fence when I began to hear a second pair of footsteps walking somewhere far behind me. I stopped‚ turned‚ and looked about. I saw no one nor any animal so I figured my ears were playing tricks on me. I went to turn to leave but before I could take a step I heard the footsteps again. It sounded like someone slowly walking‚ not running. I turned about again and this time I saw something step from beyond the trees from my right about 30 feet away from me. It was reddish in color‚ close to the same color as the leaves on the ground but its face was pinkish-gray. I slowly squatted down where I stood and watched as this hairy-covered thing just meandered through the woods. It stood erect and walked like a person‚ not hunched over and cumbersome like an orangutan or gorilla. Its legs were directly in line with its body‚ whereas a gorilla or orangutan walked more bowlegged. Its hair was long and I do mean hair‚ it was not fur. When the wind blew the hair waved about and I could see its pinkish-gray skin underneath in a few places. That's when I became concerned and aware that this was no person in a suit. My first thought was someone was trying to prank me or make a film. I looked about to see a cameraman or someone but it was just me and this thing. I also remember thinking Bigfoot from the shows on TV‚ but this thing was not 10 to 12 feet tall like I heard people say they encountered. It was probably not much taller than me and I'm 6 feet tall it was thin‚ more like a person. I could not say if it was strong with muscles because the wind was blowing its long hair and blocking me from seeing any musculature as well as parts of its face. Then about halfway through this incident‚ I started to pick up a bad smell. It was like rancid meat that had been sitting out for a week. I think had it not been for the wind I would have smelled it sooner. What stood out the most to me was its ears which as best as I can describe were like pig ears. They were pinkish and stuck outwards but they were oval like a human ear. The hands were massive compared to its body. It was walking like a person just slightly bent over as if it were watching its way. I could not make out much of its face because of the wind but I know at one point I saw the whites of its eyes just for a second. The only parts of its body that were not covered in hair were its face‚ chest‚ parts of its belly‚ hands‚ and the inner parts of its wrists and inner arms. But as I said it was coated in hair‚ not fur. So it was not well covered‚ not like a dog‚ cat‚ or other animal. You would think such a critter would be freezing to death. The hair looked like it served very little protection from the elements.I continued to watch it. Three or four times it bent down like I was‚ squat or perched as some people called it. I watched as it moved the leaves with its right hand and stuck its hand into the dirt. It looked like it was looking for something. Whatever it was searching for it knew where to look. Then it got up‚ walked more‚ and repeated its actions. The third time it bent down and did this search thing it found something in the ground‚ pulled it out‚ and put it to its mouth. I could not see it clearly. Then as its back was somewhat toward me it stood and walked on. I did not move a muscle at all. My back and legs were starting to ache something bad. I watched this thing for a good 5 to 6 minutes and I was starting to regret not taking my camera. It just walked on till I couldn't see it anymore.I waited a bit longer. I wanted to make sure whatever it was would not hear me leaving. The one thing I still ponder about is that even though I was squatted down while watching it‚ it never noticed me. If it did it certainly didn't care if I was there or not. I mean I was squatted down but not behind anything. Its head stayed hung low like it was looking for something as it walked or like it was just watching its step. But it never looked further than that.I never told my friend what I saw‚ at least not at first. I just said it was not interesting at all for picture taking the sighting spooked me for a couple of nights because in my head I kept thinking that nothing was stopping it from stepping over that broken fence and into our open yard. Since my bedroom faced the woods I started to spook myself with the idea of waking up at night and seeing it in my window. My only comfort zone was that our neighbors had a German Shepherd that could deal with it if need be. That's what I thought at the time. Now knowing the reputation dogs and Sasquatch have I'm not too sure that German Shepherd would have done much good. Eventually‚ my interest grew on the topic of cryptids and eventually‚ I told my friends and neighbors what I had seen back there. The neighbors were miffed that I went back there and said we told you not to. Then the guy broke down and told me one day when he first moved into the duplex years before‚ he took the dog back there and saw the same thing. The dog went wild and barked at it. He went on and said the hairy thing faced them‚ got angry‚ grabbed a small fallen branch‚ and threw it at him and the dog. But more like a warning. I drew an image of what I had encountered rather quickly and asked if what he saw in the woods looked like what I drew. That's exactly what he saw he said and his voice started to get shaky. I found this odd for a man who was a master trainer and owner of the martial arts dojo in the area. From there I just started researching the topic and started to find myself drawing and painting what I saw. Admittedly‚ I did go back in the woods about 6 maybe 7 times with the camera in hand‚ but never saw it again. After almost 4 years my friend and I parted ways and I moved back to New York in 2020. At first‚ the whole experience spooked me. But now‚ looking back at the whole event‚ I'm glad it did happen. What I saw opened my eyes and mind more at the very least it has given me a new interest.  I'm not sure if I want to see one again or not‚ maybe from a distance where I'm safe. I don't know really what to call what I saw. I have puttered about the internet and books looking for anything in the animal kingdom that looked like what I saw and I keep coming up empty. The closest images I came up with are various depictions of early pre-man. I have tried a few times to draw what I think the face would have looked like but with so much weather distortion and the angle I saw it at I just cannot come up with something where I can say yes to. I feel it would be wrong to present to anyone a presumptive face." Apple TV+ to Adapt Martha Wells’ Murderbot; Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd Set to Star

It’s a big day for a certain Murderbot who just wants to watch its soaps. Apple TV+ has announced that it’s adapting Martha Wells’ The Murderbot Diaries series‚ with Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd (True Blood‚ The Northman)  on board as executive producer and to star as the titular Murderbot. The scripts for the ten-episode season have already been written (before the writers’ strike‚ in fact)‚ and production is set to start in just three months. Directors Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy‚ Mozart in the Jungle) are the creators of the show (as well as the writers‚ directors and producers via their banner Depth of Field) and also serve as executive producers. Other executive producers include David S. Goyer‚ the showrunner for Apple TV+’s Foundation series‚ Keith Levine from the company Phantom Four‚ and Andrew Miano for Depth of Field. Wells serves as a consulting producer. For those of you unfamiliar with The Murderbot Diaries‚ the books center on a security android (or‚ as it likes to call itself‚ Murderbot) who hacks itself out of the shackles of its programming but still finds itself caring about its human clients (and some other A.I. folks as well) even though it doesn’t understand them. According to Apple TV+‚ the show adaptation will see Murderbot “hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.” No news yet on when the show will premiere on the streaming platform or who will be joining SkarsgÃ¥rd on the call sheet‚ but I personally can’t wait to get the first look imagery of The Northman actor wearing a mech suit.

It’s Tough to Stay Afloat in Loontown‚ A Gritty City Populated by Balloon People

There’s a delightful short film that’s now available for public viewing‚ and it features a balloon detective solving crime in a city where helium is the drug of choice. The short is a noir tale that uses live-action backgrounds with hand-drawn animation of the aforementioned balloon people. Loontown is also touted by its creators as “the Citizen Kane of Balloon Noir Films!” And if the trailer is any indication‚ I’ll give it to them. Here’s the synopsis: When someone pops Mordy the Mouth‚ balloon detective Muldoon runs into hoppers and gasbags—not to mention one sexy red balloon!—as he tries to solve the mystery of missing helium in Loontown. The eighteen-minute film comes from a script by Lavie Tidhar‚ whose previous works include the World Fantasy Award-winning Osama‚ The Violent Century‚ Central Station‚ and By Force Alone. It’s directed by Nir Yaniv and features the voice talent of Digger Mesch as Lt. Muldoon‚ Anne Wittman as Red‚ Kenneth Jay as Big‚ Fred and Goon 1‚ Nathan Osgood as Flynn‚ Bill and Goon 2‚ Russell Wilcox as Tony Bouncy Ball and The Professor‚ AL Lubel as Mordechai the Mouth‚ and Katie Snyder as Scarlet and Dispatch. Time for a little break from battling. Let’s make some sandwiches! Here is how to beat Crispin’s Elite Trial in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to beat Crispin’s Elite Trial in The Indigo Disk As you might expect from Crispin’s outfit‚ his Elite Trial will revolve around cooking. And since sandwiches have been a major item in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‚ it is only natural that we will have to put together a sandwich. But not an ordinary sandwich‚ of course: a Super-Spicy Sandwich. I usually take my spice quite well‚ but I think we will push things a bit too far for me in this Elite Trial. For the Super-Spicy Sandwich‚ you will need the following ingredients: Chili Sauce Chorizo Jalapeno Mustard Onion Image: Game Freak Crispin’s Elite Trial Trade Quest The trick is the following: you won’t be able to use any previously acquired ingr...

Tagging Evangelical Christians as a ‘Polarizing Extreme’

In a previous epoch‚ Tim Alberta was a reporter for National Review‚ one of too many NR cubs who later joined the liberal-media zoo. Alberta is now at The Atlantic‚ one of America’s most intense producers of frothing leftist drivel. It seems like every leftist network has welcomed Alberta to trash conservative Christians through his latest book‚ “The Kingdom‚ the Power‚ and the Glory: American Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism.” It’s touted as Alberta’s “deeply personal examination of the divisions that threaten to destroy the American evangelical movement. Evangelical Christians are perhaps the most polarizing—and least understood— people living in America today.” Wait. No one in these interviews asks about the polarizing cultural extreme on the libertine Left. That extreme is the leftist media’s address‚ at the corner of GLAAD Street and Planned Parenthood Avenue. Interviewers loved Alberta’s funeral story. On the “PBS NewsHour‚” anchor Geoff Bennett began: “I asked Tim about a searing moment he describes‚ when‚ at his own father’s funeral‚ a church elder admonished him for not fully embracing Donald Trump as God’s chosen leader.” Is this an exact quote? Alberta answered: “Once I was able to process it‚ because it was a surreal moment‚ having just buried my father—you’re in this state of mourning and of shock‚ and not sure‚ is this even real? … If I could be treated this way‚ if I could be regarded as a member of the deep state‚ as an enemy of the church‚ as an apostate—if I could be treated that way‚ then how are we treating those outside the church?” On NPR’s “Fresh Air‚” host Terry Gross also loved the funeral tale: “Let me back up and say that Rush Limbaugh started quoting you and assailing you on his radio show. What was he saying about you?” Alberta said‚ “Rush Limbaugh was on his show describing some of my unflattering characterizations of Donald Trump and of the evangelical movement. Trump himself was tweeting about my book. I was getting a lot of threats‚ a lot of nasty email‚ a lot of criticism from right-wing media.” So “people were asking me if I was really still a Christian‚ if I was on the right side of good versus evil … and all the while‚ of course‚ my dad is in a box 100 feet away.” Gross then asked‚ “If they saw that in you‚ the son of their pastor‚ you‚ who many of them had known your entire life‚ that—what about people who they don’t know? How easy is it to dehumanize them and just make them into the enemy?” Funerals shouldn’t be a setting for political combat‚ which is why they love this funhouse portrait of conservative Christians. But Alberta wrote this book to argue that Trump-supporting Christians are apostates and enemies of democracy. PBS and NPR and the rest “dehumanize” conservatives routinely. Alberta was bitterly angry at his pastor father for voting for Trump in 2016. So what kind of Christian is a Hillary Clinton backer? Why is his pro-abortion “division” of evangelicalism not “threatening to destroy” it? Alberta and his media helpers can’t seem to find the cultural context of our times. The arrival of “same-sex marriage‚” naturally followed by twerking drag queen performances for children‚ and graphically sexual books in school libraries‚ and “gender-affirming care” for minors aren’t reasons for Christians to feel something is slipping away? Is nothing “extremist” about that? Do Alberta’s model Christians offer any remedy or resistance to these trends? No one asked. Academia Reveals That Commitment to DEI Trumps All

Harvard is sticking by their woman and the University of Wisconsin turned down a mountain of money just to maintain commitment to DEI. The actions of these two universities this week demonstrate the depth of the problem with higher education. Their commitment to ideology is stronger than their commitment to anything else. On Tuesday‚ the school’s board announced that it would retain President Claudine Gay. The decision was unanimous—despite Gay’s disastrous testimony at a now infamous House hearing on antisemitism in which she waffled on questions about denouncing calls for genocide. “Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Harvard’s rules on bullying and harassment?” Rep. Elise Stefanik‚ R-N.Y.‚ asked at the hearing. “It can be‚ depending on the context‚” Gay responded. Woof. That was hardly the only jarring or ridiculous testimony of the day. It got worse for Gay when multiple reports uncovered evidence that she plagiarized her 1997 doctoral thesis and other papers published between 1993 and 2017. Harvard said that after an investigation it found that Gay was only guilty of “research misconduct‚” but that it did discover “a few instances of inadequate citation.” Political scientist Carol Swain‚ one of the people Gay plagiarized‚ said in a Fox News interview that Harvard is trying to “redefine what is plagiarism” to protect Gay. “Claudine Gay needs to step down. Obviously‚ the Harvard Corporation did not have the courage to fire its first black president‚ someone who should never have been elevated in the first place‚” Swain said. Swain is also black. The school seems unfazed by all of this and much of the Harvard faculty has expressed unqualified support. They will stick with Gay no matter what it seems. It may seem strange to see a school proclaiming to be one of the world’s elite institutions stay committed to Gay‚ who didn’t exactly have an impressive academic record before she got hired. But it makes sense if you consider that the school is wholly committed to diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion in practice and as an ideology. Gay’s primary work has been focused on race and “racial justice.” In 2020‚ Harvard Magazine reported that she led a reboot of a “cluster hire” in ethnicity‚ indigeneity‚ and migration. Cluster hiring is when schools hire in bulk using DEI statements as the primary standard for applicants. She also created a program to “recruit leading scholars of race and ethnicity to spend a year at Harvard engaged in teaching our undergraduates.” It should be clear now‚ if it wasn’t before‚ that DEI is what higher education worships‚ even above standards of education. They are quite willing to abandon academic excellence and even money.  Consider the actions of another university that reinforce this point. On Saturday‚ the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents voted to reject a deal that would have given the school hundreds of millions of dollars in exchange for abandoning their DEI initiatives. “For six months‚ Wisconsin Republicans have put forth funding bills that hoped to limit or cut diversity‚ equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at state universities in exchange for UW employee raises‚” Fox News reported. “Though the latest deal was seen as an ideal compromise‚ the UW board rejected it in a 9-8 vote while also agreeing not to table the vote for further discussion.” The deal would have created a three-year freeze on DEI hires‚ but didn’t actually force them to fire any employees. Instead‚ a third of the DEI employees would be transferred to roles that didn’t focus on race. If the DEI administrators can’t be used to further the revolution‚ then what’s the point‚ the school’s board seems to be saying. This move says a lot about the state of higher education and the nature of leftwing institutions. First‚ higher education in America is clearly awash in money‚ both public and private. The University of Wisconsin has a $7.53 billion annual budget for 2023-2024. Our schools get an astounding amount of state and federal tax dollars. Many of these schools are sitting on astronomical endowments too. Harvard’s over $50 billion endowment is larger than the GDP of dozens of countries. Yet the American taxpayer is expected to bail out student loans. Maybe the institutions responsible for that debt should take some responsibility in paying it? The fact that the University of Wisconsin was so willing to turn down a huge chunk of money likely means that they aren’t completely reliant on it. Perhaps they even think that the legislature will blink and hand them the money. That they did this even if it meant their employees wouldn’t get pay raises says a great deal about the nature of the modern Left. Their commitment to cultural values far exceeds their commitment to material ones. They want power and cultural revolution. They are fine abandoning pay raises for their employees when push comes to shove. It should be a warning for any on the Right who seek to work with‚ say‚ public sector unions. Sure‚ many rank-and-file members simply want higher paychecks and better benefits‚ but leadership is committed to left-wing cultural causes first. They aren’t suddenly going to change their spots. If schools would rather commit to DEI‚ and my feeling is that most do‚ then it’s time to either stop the gravy train on behalf of taxpayers or park that money elsewhere. Imagine what could be built with $800 million dollars that was offered to the University of Wisconsin. Perhaps it’s time to divert that enormous sum of money to institutions that are worthwhile and aren’t committed to Marxist and racialist ideology. Just a thought. That’s effectively what Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis did in his state. DeSantis toppled the administration of the New College of Florida‚ a hyper progressive liberal arts college‚ and replaced them with people who are committed to a more classical education. There’s a reason the Left is obsessed with destroying this small project. They are afraid red states will see how successful it is and repeat this tactic with other schools. What can’t be ignored with Harvard sticking by Gay and the University of Wisconsin rejecting $800 million is that our elite academic institutions are more committed to DEI ideology than anything else‚ even common decency. There’s now some internal pressure for them to change‚ but outside pressure needs to continue. The moral rot runs deep‚ and it stems from the worldview that’s come to completely dominate the ivory tower. The events following the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel should clarify this for those who just couldn’t quite accept how fully compromised America’s elite universities are. The only way to divert them from their path is to drain them of their power‚ to defund‚ defang‚ and deny them the privileged status they’ve held for far too long. Higher education has become increasingly unserious in fulfilling its primary role. Instead‚ these monumentally powerful institutions are committed to reinforcing one ideology at the exclusion of other points of view. A Renowned Science and Engineering Institute Loses Its Way Due to Woke Leadership‚ Imperiling Jewish Students

As a 1981 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology‚ I have been appalled by the behavior of the president of the university‚ Sally Kornbluth‚ in the face of the antisemitism now infesting MIT‚ something that wasn’t there when I was a student. I echo all of the serious concerns raised by over 700 other MIT alumni who‚ on December 11‚ sent a letter to Kornbluth and the MIT Corporation‚ the board that runs the university‚ over the “continued failure of the MIT administration to address” this dangerous plague.  Kornbluth has lost the moral authority to continue as the president of MIT. In fact‚ in a tone-deaf move‚ the members of that board issued a statement on Dec. 7 expressing their full support for Kornbluth‚ which as the alumni letter correctly says‚ sends the wrong message to the “MIT community‚ and especially its Jewish members.” The statement says the board members “utterly reject” all “forms of hate” yet they refuse to take any action against those who have been spewing such hate on campus. Of course‚ this tolerance for racist behavior is also no surprise to me‚ given MIT’s abandonment of basic principles of equal treatment of its students based on merit‚ regardless of their race or ethnicity‚ that started in the 1990s. That is when MIT started discriminating on the basis of skin color in its admissions policy. It even filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court‚ aiming to justify such invidious discrimination‚ in the ultimately successful lawsuits filed by Asian American students against Harvard and the University of North Carolina.. The scandal involves Kornbluth’s dismaying and highly criticized testimony before the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce on Dec. 5‚ where she was accompanied by her woke apologists for students supporting a designated terrorist organization‚ Hamas‚ the plagiarist president of Harvard and the now resigned-before-being-fired president of the University of Pennsylvania. At that hearing‚ Kornbluth implied‚ as the alumni letter says‚ “that calls for genocide of Jews may not constitute bullying and harassment under MIT’s code of conduct‚ depending on context.” What context could possibly justify support for terrorist attacks and a call for genocide?!  Protecting those who engage in such violent rhetoric‚ as my 700 fellow alumni have said‚ “rather than the Jewish victims of such rhetoric‚ sends a strong signal to the rest of the world that violent words of hate are acceptable‚ at least as they relate to the Jewish people.” Somehow‚ I doubt that if rhetoric calling for the extermination of blacks had been spewed at these supposedly elite universities‚ any of these college presidents would have waited a second to immediately condemn it or take disciplinary actions against the students spewing such venom. That raises the more substantive problem. The problem isn’t just Kornbluth’s regrettable and inexplicable testimony. It is also her refusal to take any action to suspend or expel the pro-Hamas‚ antisemitic students who have harassed‚ threatened‚ and intimidated Jewish students and faculty members‚ disrupted classes‚ protested in areas that the school has said explicitly are off-limits for protests‚ and blocked access to the main lobby of MIT in November.  As a letter from current Israeli and Jewish MIT students recounts‚ the administration took no steps against these students for any of these actions that not only threatened other students and faculty‚ but physically kept Jewish students out of buildings and prevented them from attending classes. The worst actions of these thugs who masquerade as college students occurred on Nov. 9‚ the 85th anniversary of Kristallnacht‚ the day Jews all over Germany were attacked.  This is the reality that MIT President wants to hide. A letter from Israeli &; Jewish MIT students:To all students at MIT‚Today‚ Jewish and Israeli MIT students were physically prevented from attending class by a hostile group of pro-Hamas and anti-Israel MIT students that…— Retsef Levi (@RetsefL) November 10‚ 2023 That is not just a coincidence since these ill-behave—(and that’s putting it mildly—students who support Hamas‚ in their calls for a violent uprising or Intifada and their justification for the terror attacks by Hamas‚ are echoing the same antisemitism and violence perpetrated by the Nazis. What did Kornbluth and the MIT administration do about that? Instead of dispersing‚ arresting‚ and detaining these thugs‚ the administration warned Jewish students not “to enter MIT’s main lobby” to breach the blockade because of a “risk to their physical safety.” They were told‚ says the student complaint letter‚ “to enter campus from back entrances and not stay in Hillel [a Jewish student facility] for fear of their physical safety.”  MIT allowed these terrorism supporters to overrun the campus and refused to protect their victims. And what was Kornbluth’s excuse?  In a Nov. 9 letter to “members of the MIT community‚” Kornbluth refused to take action because she had “serious concerns about collateral consequences for the students‚ such as visa issues.” In other words‚ she wanted to make sure that Hamas supporters who were foreign students wouldn’t have their visas canceled or get deported. In fact‚ that is exactly what should be happening. Antisemites who support terrorism and genocide‚ and who themselves terrorize fellow students and MIT faculty‚ not only shouldn’t be at the institute‚ if they are not U.S. citizens‚ they shouldn’t be in the country. Kornbluth’s badly misguided priorities are just another example of why she is unfit to be the president of what was once known as‚ but appears to be no longer‚ the premier science and engineering school in the country. Kornbluth’s Nov. 9 letter says that she was “heartened by an effort from faculty to develop a Day of Dialogue.” There has already been a Day of Dialogue at MIT‚ a day (in fact‚ several days) of violent‚ racist‚ antisemitic “dialogue.” The institute doesn’t need another day of that.  What MIT needs is a new president (and‚ frankly‚ a new board of trustees) who immediately and loudly condemns all calls for genocide. It needs a president and administration that expels all students who support terrorist organizations and have been involved in harassing‚ intimidating‚ and threatening other students.  MIT needs someone who makes MIT once again a safe haven for students who want to become this nation’s best scientists‚ engineers‚ and technologists‚ and an institution that implements zero tolerance for the kind of hoodlums who are roaming the campus today being protected by an administration that has lost its way.     EMBED: pdf of letter here letter Have an opinion about this article?
