‘Election Interference’: Colorado Supreme Court Removes Trump From Ballot

The Colorado Supreme Court tonight ruled in an unprecedented 4-3 decision to remove former President Donald Trump from the state’s presidential primary ballot‚ citing Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.  This is a nakedly partisan‚ anti-democratic decision that ignores the law and prior precedent. Under the text and history of the 14th Amendment‚ as well as court precedent‚ Trump is not disqualified from running for office for numerous reasons. First‚ Section 3 of the 14 Amendment applies only to individuals who were previously a ‘member of Congress‚’ an ‘officer of the United States‚’ or a state official. Individuals who are elected—such as the president and vice president—are not officers within the meaning of Section 3.  Second‚ no federal court has convicted Trump of engaging in ‘insurrection or rebellion.’ In fact‚ the Senate acquitted Trump of that charge in his second impeachment.  Third‚ some scholars assert Section 3 doesn’t even exist anymore as a constitutional matter after the Amnesty Acts of 1872 and 1898–a matter completely ignored by the court today.  Fourth‚ prior court rulings have held that Section 3 is not self-executing and Congress has never passed any federal law providing for enforcement‚ meaning that courts such as the Colorado Supreme Court have no legal authority to enforce Section 3.  Despite these strong defenses‚ the court in Colorado proceeded in its power grab‚ deciding to remove the ability of American voters to make their own decision on who they believe should be president. This badly judged‚ banana republic election interference will swiftly be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court‚ which should take this case to short-circuit all the similar meritless challenges that are being filed in numerous states to remove Trump from the ballot. 5 teenagers charged with felony battery over vicious attack on Parkland high school student caught on video

Florida police said they identified and charged with felony battery five teenagers who allegedly attacked a high school student in Parkland. Video of the brutal assault went viral on social media. The video showed a large group of teenagers assaulting a male student until one grabbed him‚ lifted him into the air‚ and slammed him to the ground. The victim appeared to be unconscious after the attack and reportedly suffered from a skull fracture. Police said that he had suffered non-life-threatening injuries at the time and was treated at a hospital. Coral Springs Police said officers worked tirelessly to identify the suspects and apprehend them. Four of the teenagers were students at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School‚ while a fifth was a student at Coral Glades High School.Coral Springs police released a statement about the incident on Facebook. "The safety of our community and schools remains our top priority. On a daily basis‚ we have approximately 50 officers from multiple specialized units who are assigned to patrol areas around schools during dismissal‚" said the police department. "In this incident‚ we did have two patrol officers around North Community Park during dismissal time. This continues to be an ongoing investigation where additional arrests may be forthcoming‚" they added. "We want to assure the public that such behavior will not be tolerated in the City of Coral Springs." They said they are looking for a sixth suspect who might be involved. One of the students who witnessed the attack told WPLG-TV that they left after thinking to himself‚ "These people are animals." Felony battery carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison in the state of Florida. Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School was the site of the horrific mass shooting attack in 2018 that took the lives of 17 students. Like Blaze News?
