Sense of Smell May Be Restored Using Radio Waves-Without Need for Surgery

A patient’s of smell could be restored using radio waves without having to undergo surgery, according to new research. Worldwide, there are actually very few effective treatments for those who have lost their sense of smell, perhaps from a brain injury. Treatments that do exist often use strong ‘scentas’ or medicines that can cause discomfort […] The post Sense of Smell May Be Restored Using Radio Waves-Without Need for Surgery appeared first on Good News Network.

Natalie Portman and Flea Headline Surprising Cast in Trailer for French Animated Film Arco

News Natalie Portman and Flea Headline Surprising Cast in Trailer for French Animated Film Arco 10-year-olds time traveling is frowned upon, even in the future By Molly Templeton | Published on August 22, 2025 Screenshot: Neon Comment 0 Share New Share Screenshot: Neon It’s hard to know where to start with the animated film Arco, which comes from French director Ugo Bienvenu: Is it the 10-year-old doing time travel or the fascinating cast for the English-dubbed version? The presence of Natalie Portman as a producer or the mishmash of lush greenery and beautiful futuristic visions? Wherever you start, Arco looks incredibly promising. Illustrator and graphic novelist Bienvenu makes his feature film debut with this story about friendship—and saving the world. The synopsis says only: Arco is a dazzling adventure about a 10-year-old boy from a peaceful, distant future who accidentally travels back to the year 2075 and discovers a world in peril. As Arco develops a charming and touching friendship with a young girl named Iris, they band together and along with her trusted robot caretaker Mikki, set out on a quest to get Arco home, while the two children may also be the only ones who can save our planet. The teaser, below, has no dialogue, but the English dub features the voices of Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Flea (yes, Flea), Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, and Andy Samberg. The film premiered at Cannes earlier this year to generally quite positive reviews; The Hollywood Reporter said, “Arco roots for a future in which humans do survive. The film aims to inspire action and stave off despair with a reminder that the most powerful tool younger generations can wield is their imagination.” Bienvenu is also a graphic novelist, and his book System Preference will be published here this fall. Interestingly, as THR notes, that story features a “domestic robot” named Mikki, in whom an archivist stores important cultural data. Mikki the robot also appears in Arco. Arco is in select theaters November 14th.[end-mark] The post Natalie Portman and Flea Headline Surprising Cast in Trailer for French Animated Film Arco appeared first on Reactor.

What Is the Democrat Alternative to Trump?

What Is the Democrat Alternative to Trump?

The Pavlovian Left goes berserk at the mere prospect of each new Trump initiative. Its escalating reactive venom and hysteria are calibrated to the success of President Donald Trump’s latest policy. Yet the new hard-left Democratic Party offers no counter-agenda to explain its furor. Still less do Democrats attempt bipartisan efforts to craft shared legislation. Take foreign policy. Democratic senators trashed the recent Trump-Putin Alaskan summit as a failure. Then they became depressed when, just days later, an entourage of European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suddenly flew to the White House. The Euros praised Trump for offering some sort of negotiated pathway to peace after over three years of war and some 1.5 million dead, wounded, missing, and captured on both sides—on Europe’s doorstep. So why did Democrats object to such negotiations by Trump? Was the reason that no such thing occurred during the Biden administration, when Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, after his earlier invasions during the Obama era? What is the Left‘s alternate plan? The old Biden idea of supplying Ukraine with enough money and arms to keep fighting and dying, but with no path to either victory or a negotiated peace? Would they prefer a fourth, fifth, or sixth year of war, or an additional 1 million casualties? The more Trump pressed almost all NATO members to pay their promised 2% of GDP on defense, the more Democrats grew irate over Trump’s overseas influence. NATO members now want to raise defense spending to 5% of GDP and gush that Trump is “Daddy.” Democrats steamed at that, since Europeans are supposed to hate Trump, not admire him for rebooting NATO. Would they prefer the old, disarmed NATO? Under the Biden administration, over 10 million illegal aliens flooded the country, sometimes 10,000 a day at the southern border. More than half a million criminals swarmed in. Yet now, there is essentially zero illegal immigration and over 100,000 criminal aliens deported. A million who entered illegally have voluntarily gone home. Yet the Left has fought the enforcement of immigration law tooth and nail. Do they believe that it is lawful and moral to break immigration law but immoral and illegal to enforce it? What is their solution? To allow in 20, 30, or 40 million more illegal aliens to distort the census and bring in new voters and constituencies? Is their plan to protect 400,000 illegal-alien criminals to roam at will? Or to add another 600 sanctuary jurisdictions that will not hand over criminal illegal aliens to immigration authorities? Democrats used to support reciprocal tariffs to save American jobs and businesses—while warning of Chinese mercantilism. But now they blast Trump for negotiating tariffs with dozens of nations in efforts to reduce an unsustainable $1 trillion trade deficit. So far, Washington projects $300 billion in new revenue. Foreign businesses have promised to invest between $10 trillion and $15 trillion within the United States. Trading partners have lowered tariffs on U.S. goods and services. So why the left-wing frenzy? Do they object to too much new federal income? Is there too much new foreign investment? Are new foreign tariffs too low on U.S. exports? Are Democrats worried that China may lose money? In 35 minutes of precision bombing, Trump disabled the Iranian nuclear program that was readying nuclear weapons. Few Iranians and no Americans died. No wider war followed. And the Democrats still cursed the Trump action. Did they prefer the Obama-era “Iran Deal” that had brought Iran to the threshold of nuclear acquisition? Did they want theocratic Iran to have nuclear weapons to threaten democratic Israel? Do Democrats complain that Trump tweets too much and sometimes is crude in his postings? Not really. California Gov. Gavin Newsom tries to out-do Trump on social media. Rep. Jasmine Crockett responds with scatological attacks. Democrats in Congress let off f-bombs. What explains the Democrat nihilism? One, the prior Biden administration was among the most aimless, corrupt, and unpopular in modern history. So, the contrast with Trump’s successes is too hard to bear. Two, Democrats so hate Trump the messenger that they seek to destroy his entire message, even when it benefits their own country and the world at large. If Trump conducts peace, they prefer war. If he wages war on crime, they side with the criminal. If he stops illegal immigration, they want more illegal immigrants. Three, they fear they have no alternatives to the Trump record, because his agenda is common sense and supported by a majority of Americans. Fourth, the Left cannot stop Trump’s success. Nothing seems to destroy him—not the raid on his home, not 93 lawfare indictments, not efforts to strike him from state ballots, not two impeachments, not even two assassination attempts. Instead, all that only made him stronger—and thus more hated. (C)2025 Tribune Content Agency, LLC. We publish a variety of perspectives. Poll on Ohio Races Is Already Out, and GOP Has Momentum

Democrat Party hopes for retaking the Senate in next year’s midterms may come down to former Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, taking one of the Ohio Senate seats, but the momentum remains with his Republican opponent, Sen. Jon Husted. Earlier this week, Brown made it official that he was seeking a comeback bid after losing last year to now Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno. This time he’ll run against Husted, who was appointed to replace now Vice President JD Vance. On Friday, just days after Brown’s announcement, Emerson College released a poll on the U.S. Senate race as well as the gubernatorial race, so far between Democrat Amy Acton and Republican Vivek Ramaswamy. Both races favor the GOP. If the election were held today, 50% of Ohio voters would support Husted, while 44% would support Brown according to the poll. Seven percent are unsure. This comes despite how Brown has higher name recognition and favorable numbers than the current senator. While 14% of respondents were unsure how they felt about Brown or had never heard of him, that number is 39% for Husted. Spencer Kimball, the executive director of Emerson College Polling, is quoted as referencing these findings, as well as with which demographic each candidate is favored with. “In the first public poll following Sherrod Brown’s 2026 campaign kickoff, the former senator trails the incumbent Jon Husted by six points, though he has a higher name recognition than the first-term Senator,” Kimball said. “Husted has a 16-point lead among male voters and voters without a college degree, and a 14-point lead among voters over 40. Brown has a 13-point lead among voters under 40, a three-point lead among women voters, and an eight-point lead among independent voters.” It’s worth noting that Brown’s 3% lead with women is the margin of error for the 1,000 respondents. The poll was conducted Aug. 18-19, starting on the day that Brown officially kicked off his bid. The National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Ohio Republican Party quickly celebrated the poll over on X. ?NEW OHIO SENATE POLL from @EmersonPolling:? Jon Husted: 50%? But Friday’s poll demonstrates the tough odds the longtime Democratic elected official faces in an increasingly red state,” the report mentioned. The gubernatorial poll surveyed a race not only between Ramaswamy and Acton, but also Ramaswamy and former Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan, who has not made any formal decision. Brown’s entrance into the Senate race, has sparked further chatter other Democrats running for governor. Acton currently earns 39% support against Ramaswamy’s 49%, while Ryan earns 41% support to Ramaswamy’s 49%. Jai Chabria, a consultant for Ramaswamy, was also quick to express excitement over X and highlight the candidate’s momentum, with the Ohio Republican Party also continuing to stand by Ramaswamy. $9.7m raised (and we are just getting started). Our allies at V-PAC raised$17m. Record setting attendance at events all over the state. Unity in the GOP.And even the liberal polls are reflecting huge leads. Lobbyist Tim Ryan or Ohio’s Chief Lockdown Officer- fun either way! https://t.co/RGlHZVPB4R— Jai Chabria (@jchabria) August 22, 2025 The poll didn’t merely reference next year’s Senate and gubernatorial races, though. It also asked whether respondents had a favorable or unfavorable view of several Ohio figures, including Vance. With a 48-43% favorable/unfavorable rating, he’s the most popular figure. Vance is also heavily favored when it comes to the Republican nomination for 2028, as 55% say they would support the vice president. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump cautioned that it’s early but confirmed that Vance could very well be the future leader of the Make America Great Again Movement and the Republican Party. Beyond political races, the poll also asked respondents about current events. On redistricting, 41% of respondents believe that Ohio Congressional district lines are being drawn to favor Republicans. By 57-43%, Ohio voters believe that mass deportations of illegal immigrants in the state are a “good thing” versus “bad thing for the state.” Voters are more evenly split, at 44-42%, when it comes to approving of Republican Gov. Mike DeWine’s decision to send the National Guard to Washington, D.C., which the governor announced last weekend and made clear was to heed the call from the Trump administration. Obama-Appointed Judge Orders ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ to Begin Shutting Down

A federal judge has issued a ruling blocking the Trump administration and Florida state officials from sending additional criminal illegal aliens to “Alligator Alcatraz,” the detention center in the Florida Everglades. U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams, an appointee of President Barack Obama, issued an 82-page ruling Thursday night siding with environmental groups who claim the facility is a risk to the wildlife in the Everglades. In her ruling, Williams ordered the state to also begin dismantling elements of the detention facility. Florida now has 60 days to remove the temporary fencing, some of the lighting, and “all generators, gas, sewage, and other waste and waste receptacles that were installed to support this project,” according to the judge’s ruling. Shortly after plans for “Alligator Alcatraz” were announced, environmental groups and the Miccosukee Indian Tribe of Florida filed a lawsuit to block the project, claiming the facility violated the National Environmental Policy Act. The act requires the government to take environmental impact into consideration when proposing major projects. “This ruling from an activist judge ignores the fact that this land has already been developed for a decade,” Tricia McLaughlin, Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary, said in a statement. The detention facility was set up on a concrete runway and taxiway at an airport in the Everglades that was built years ago. The ruling is “another attempt to prevent the president from fulfilling the American people’s mandate to remove the worst of the worst, including gang members, murderers, pedophiles, terrorists, and rapists from our country,” McLaughlin said. “This activist judge doesn’t care about the invasion of our country facilitated by the Biden administration, but the American people do. We have the law, the facts, and common sense on our side.” The state of Florida has filed a notice to appeal the case. Since the opening of the Florida detention center, DHS has announced plans to open two additional detention centers, one in Indiana called the “Speedway Slammer,” and one in Nebraska called the “Cornhusker Clink.” The detention facilities are intended to hold the “worst of the worst” criminal illegal aliens before they are removed from the U.S., according to DHS. The post Obama-Appointed Judge Orders ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ to Begin Shutting Down appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Politico Editor Upset Over No Mass Protests Against Federal Takeover of DC Police

It's a very strange reaction by Politico's senior editor Michael Schaffer to the federal takeover of the Washington, D.C. police force. In fact you could categorize that reaction as disappointment as you can see in his Thursday piece expressing amazement as to "Why Washington Residents Aren’t Flooding the Streets to Protest Trump." As if to emphasize that disappointment, the subtitle chimes in with this frustrating (for Schaffer) observation: "DC is built for protests. But after Trump’s takeover, they aren’t happening." Where, oh where are the mass protests against the federal takeover of the DC police? Let us take a journey with poor Schaffer down Disappointment Lane: In the late summer of 2025, following an unprecedented Trump administration takeover of local law enforcement, the best local critics have done so far is a relatively small procession from Dupont Circle around the White House demanding that “Donald Trump must go.” “Danger! Danger! There’s a fascist in the White House!” marchers chanted, at one point yelling at the occupants of a National Guard Humvee, which was quickly surrounded by D.C. Police. It was a well-organized, energetic demonstration, but all in all, there were only a few hundred marchers. To paraphrase a line from the New Testament: Michael wept. "Where’s the rest of this famously progressive city?" Enjoying their new-found safety in a low crime city? To hear activists and national Democrats tell it, the takeover of D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department and the flood of federal forces into the capital are a sign of rising authoritarianism. It may be happening in Washington thanks to an odd constitutional status, but the president himself has talked about sending forces to other Democratic-led cities next. Yet considering those alleged stakes, the nation’s capital has been weirdly quiet. Last weekend, the military vehicles parked at photogenic locations around the National Mall were surrounded by curious photographers, not outraged civil libertarians. Some friendly tourists even asked the troops for selfies. Disappointed much, Michael? Would you prefer the residents screaming angrily like TDS maniacs at the feds who were keeping their streets blessedly safe? ...there was little evidence of, you know, the Democratic Party. That’s the organization that won over 90 percent of D.C. votes in the last election. Where ambitious conservative notables took to the capital after the 2020 election to associate themselves with Stop the Steal protests, none of the small public demonstrations against the takeover have so far featured appearances from the Democrats’ local political big shots, much less their national celebrities who also reside in town. Paging Democrat bigshots and national celebrities! Why are you not acting out performance outrage as you usually do? Schaffer's disgust over the lack of large demonstrations boils over to the point where he flat out angrily calls President Trump a liar: What explains the quiet? In conversations around town over the past week, it’s quite clear that Washington is a city where many locals are plainly outraged by the president’s falsehood-filled description of the place as a crime-ridden hellscape — and where many others are profoundly uncomfortable about armed federal outsiders being urged by the president to “knock the hell out of” opponents. A "falsehood-filled description" of the crime situation? Notice that Schaffer conveniently neglects to mention the DC police scandal in which it was revealed that the crime stats were cooked. Schaeffer even sought out the deranged, oops, I mean "strident" George Conway to seek answers for why the expected mass protests have not materialized. “The only thing I can think of is, it’s August and people are away,” said George Conway, a strident Trump critic who told me the police takeover was “a step to controlling what’s happening in the capital, whether it’s legislation or the streets.” He said hadn’t been aware of any serious protest since the police takeover was announced. He said there might be a change once fall arrives. Perhaps "strident Trump critics" Rick Wilson or Keith Olbermann can provide you with more satisfying answers.
