At the National Sheriff’s Association Conference in Washington‚ D.C‚ last week‚ Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones heard warnings from the FBI of imminent terrorist attacks on the U.S. “It’s not if they are going to attack‚ it’s just when they are‚” Jones said. “There are people already here who have come to this country who […] The post FBI to Sheriffs: Warnings of Imminent Terror Attacks on US Soil appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Biden Explains the Only Existential Threat Is the Environment‚ Not Nukes

Figurehead Joe Biden claimed at a reception that the only existential threat we face is the environment. It’s not illegal alien terrorists or criminals‚ not the economy‚ and not nuclear war – it’s the environment. If we give all our money to globalists‚ we are to believe that will solve the problem. THE REAL UNBELIEVABLE […] The post Biden Explains the Only Existential Threat Is the Environment‚ Not Nukes appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Illegal Immigrant Teen Arrested After Allegedly Shooting At Security Guard And NYPD Officer‚ Hitting Bystander In Times Square Robbery Attempt

A 15-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela was arrested in New York City on Friday less than 24 hours after he allegedly opened fire on a security guard and police officers during a robbery attempt at a store in Times Square‚ hitting a 38-year-old female bystander in the leg. Officers with the U.S. Marshals Joint Regional Fugitive Task Force and the NYPD nabbed Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa at the home of one of his relatives in Yonkers around 3:30 p.m. Friday‚ sources told The New York Post. NYPD spokesman Carlos Nieves told reporters that the teenager will likely be charged as a juvenile with attempted murder of a police officer. “He was crying. When he was apprehended‚ he was crying… Here he is committing these adult acts‚ that’s something you don’t expect a child to do‚ and then when he’s apprehended‚ he’s brought out in handcuffs crying‚” Nieves said. Rivas-Figueroa‚ who is also a suspect in a gunpoint robbery in the Bronx last month‚ and two other teens were allegedly attempting to shoplift from sports-fashion store JD Sports in Times Square around 7 p.m. on Thursday but were stopped by a security guard‚ who took the stolen clothes back from them‚ NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said. Authorities alleged that Rivas-Figueroa then pulled out a “very large” .45-caliber handgun‚ firing at the female security guard and “into a crowd.” The shot missed the security guard but struck Tatiele Riberio‚ a 38-year-old Brazilian tourist‚ in the leg while she was standing in line waiting to buy shoes. Riberio was transported to Bellevue Hospital and released after getting 13 stitches in her leg‚ according to the Post. After Rivas-Figueroa — along with another 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy — ran from the store‚ the illegal immigrant allegedly opened fire on an NYPD officer. Officers apprehended Rivas-Figueroa’s 15-year-old accomplice on Thursday night and nabbed the 16-year-old on Friday morning. Chell said detectives are still “trying to figure out” what the other teenagers’ role was in the alleged robbery attempt. “[Rivas-Figueroa] had no problems firing into a crowd at a store … and not shooting at cops once‚ but shooting at them twice‚” said Chell‚ adding‚ “And I gotta tell you‚ [if] one of those bullets hits our cop last night‚ this is a whole different conversation we’re having today. Our cops showed great restraint not to fire their weapons into a crowd of New Yorkers.” Watch as @NYPDChiefPatrol‚ John Chell makes a law enforcement announcement on an ongoing investigation. https://t.co/ClNiCcafdG — NYPD NEWS (@NYPDnews) February 9‚ 2024 Investigators interviewed witnesses and obtained surveillance footage‚ which led them to Rivas-Figueroa the next day. Chell said the teen arrived in the city in September and was placed in a temporary shelter at the Stratford Hotel. The hotel’s staff told the Post that they believe Rivas-Figueroa and his family left the shelter sometime Friday morning. The teenager was found with his mother on Saratoga Avenue. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban warned those who would “threaten the lives” of the city’s police officers. “If you think you attack a member of this department‚ if you think you could threaten the lives of the very people who keep us safe. If you think you could put others at deadly risk and get away with it‚ then think again‚” Caban said. “We will never stop pursuing you. We will find you‚ and we will arrest you.” The attempted robbery and alleged shooting comes just two weeks after NYPD officers were pummeled by a group of illegal immigrants near Times Square. Video footage shared by the NYPD shows the officers attempting to arrest one of the illegal immigrants as others kick and punch the officers in the head. Four illegal immigrants were eventually apprehended but then released without bail before reportedly fleeing across the country to California. 🚨WANTED for ASSAULT: on 1/27 at approx. 8:30 PM‚ individuals kicked &; punched police officers in the head &; body when officers were effecting an arrest in front of 220 W 42nd Street. The individuals fled on foot towards 7th Ave. Any info? DM or call @nypdtips at 800-577-TIPS. pic.twitter.com/UDusqdbGgf — NYPD NEWS (@NYPDnews) January 30‚ 2024

ACLU Threatens To Sue Georgia Over Cash Bail Bill

ACLU Threatens To Sue Georgia Over Cash Bail Bill

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Georgia threatened to sue the state over a bill expanding the number of crimes requiring cash bail. In a press release issued on Thursday‚ several days after the Georgia General Assembly passed the bill‚ the ACLU affiliate said it would sue if Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) didn’t veto the bill. The organization claimed that requiring those accused of a crime to remain in jail would endanger the community‚ and that black individuals would be more likely to be affected by the legislation.  “[This bill] will dramatically increase the number of Georgians languishing in our jails and make our communities less safe‚” stated the organization. “Already‚ 51% of the people in Georgia’s jails are black‚ while just 30% of the state’s overall population is black.” The contested legislation‚ Senate Bill 63‚ expanded the definition of bail-restricted offenses to 30 new offenses‚ including fleeing or attempting to elude police‚ identity fraud‚ domestic terrorism‚ and rioting. ACLU of Georgia’s legal director‚ Cory Isaacson‚ said that the bill was an unconstitutional criminalization of poverty and restriction of the First Amendment.  🚨 Georgia Senate Bill 63‚ which forces people who can’t afford to pay bail to languish in jail‚ is unlawful and the ACLU of Georgia will sue if the governor signs it into law. https://t.co/gKXWUoWHUf pic.twitter.com/KlTcmQ8PPB — ACLU of Georgia (@ACLUofGA) February 8‚ 2024 Georgia Lt. Governor Burt Jones praised the bill’s passage. Jones predicted it would remove violent‚ repeat criminals from the public.  “Senate Bill 63 protects Georgia families by keeping violent and repeat offenders off our streets‚” said Jones. Senate Bill 63 protects Georgia families by keeping violent and repeat offenders off our streets. I appreciate the House adopting the conference committee report on this legislation. #gapol https://t.co/7FqZzvgZF2 — Lt. Governor Burt Jones (@LtGovJonesGA) February 7‚ 2024 Kemp hasn’t issued a comment on the bill’s passage. State Sen. Randy Robertson‚ the bill sponsor‚ explained in the Senate Public Safety Committee hearing on the bill early last year that there was a need to expand cash bail due to a continued rise in crime. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “[We’re] continuing to put these guardrails up to ensure that we take the revolving doors off the jails and the 159 counties throughout Georgia‚” said Robertson. “Being indigent and having no money does not excuse anyone from committing a crime.” Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum testified to the committee that his officers dealt with almost 900 repeat offenders with nearly 29‚000 prior arrests between them in 2022.  A little over 6‚000 of those prior arrests were felonies; 33% of those felons were carrying firearms when arrested again‚ even though state law prohibits convicted felons from owning firearms‚ and 57% of those repeat offenders were on probation or parole. Well over 200 were gang members. In response to criticisms that some of the bail-restricted offenses in the bill included “minor” crimes such as criminal trespass‚ reckless driving‚ and obstruction of justice‚ Robertson noted during the committee hearing that those offenses were usually tied to other‚ more serious offenses‚ such as domestic terrorism and rioting. Robertson further added that judges had the discretion to set bonds as low as they desired based on the facts of the case.  “What we found in many of the domestic terrorism cases that we looked at‚ and many of the cases of the 2020 riots and destruction‚ not only here in our capital city but around the country‚ all had those charges associated with them‚” said Robertson.  Additionally‚ the bill restricted unlimited bail posting to bail bond companies. All others — including Charitable bail funds‚ nonprofit organizations‚ and individuals — would be limited to posting bail to three or fewer individuals annually. The bill also prohibited the release without bond of any individual charged with a bail-restricted offense‚ as well as individuals with prior felony arrests within the preceding seven years.  The annual fee for continuing education programs for bail recovery agents was also doubled.

Dog Dad Makes Adorably Tiny Umbrella For Pup Who Hates Rain.

To say that Minion is a tiny bit spoiled is either the understatement of the year or very accurate. Or perhaps Minion’s dog dad loves him THAT much. Whatever you call it‚ the crafty genius behind the umbrella this dog dad made for Minion should be celebrated. Minion has his own TikTok channel. The dog umbrella has undergone several prototype stages‚ but we think the final model is now in hand mouth. Image from TikTok. Minion is a dachshund‚ pug‚ chihuahua‚ etc.‚ mix who lives on a homestead. A recent DNA test confirmed his Heinz 57 ancestry. His full name‚ Lord Minion‚ declares him the uncontested monarch of the land. Minion doesn’t like rain‚ so the umbrella is a great addition to his outdoor wardrobe. Once his trusty Bomber jacket is on‚ he takes his umbrella and heads out to do his business. Image from TikTok. Lord Minion dutifully does his business and surveys his territory. When dog dad says it’s time to come in‚ he meanders off in search of more adventure. No matter what he did while walking around the yard‚ Minion kept his grip on the umbrella handle. He doesn’t like hats‚ hoods‚ or things on his head‚ so this does seem like the perfect solution. Image from TikTok. Minion is completely unencumbered by his umbrella and does all the normal dog things. He walks‚ performs his necessary business‚ and runs around. For him‚ aside from the rain‚ this is just another day in his realm. Image from TikTok. We hope you enjoyed our rainy day visit with Minion and his dog umbrella. You can visit his TikTok channel and subscribe for more mystic tales from beyond. This rescue dog lucked into a happy home! @oneandonlyminion #Narrowayhomestead #homesteadtoktok #offgridlife #theoneandonlyminion #farmdog #smalldog #umbrella ♬ original sound – Minion You can find the source of this story’s featured image here. Man Paralyzed While Surfing Proves Doctors Wrong‚ Goes On To Run Marathons.

After a rare injury at only 12 years old‚ doctors told Tim Marovt that he would never walk again‚ but he refused to accept that fate. After years of rehabilitation‚ he proved those doctors wrong by running marathons and climbing mountains. Tim detailed his injury while talking on Radio Maribor. He explained that he was surfing while on vacation in Hawaii‚ and about 30 minutes in‚ he felt a sudden pain in his spine. He got out of the water to rest and suddenly lost the use of his legs. “After about twenty minutes I wanted to go to the bathroom‚” he shared. “And then I tried to get up‚ and my legs were soft‚ and I fell on the floor. We immediately called an ambulance.” Instagram After being rushed to the hospital‚ Tim learned that he had surfer myelopathy. Johns Hopkins writes that the injury is due to “severe compression that may result from trauma‚ congenital stenosis‚ degenerative disease or disc herniation.” It typically leads to lifelong paralysis. NIH reports that there are only 60 reported cases of surfer myelopathy to date.  “They immediately prepared me for how I would live in a wheelchair‚” he continued. Tim Marovt had been an active child leading up to that day. Not only did he surf‚ but he was also a skilled skier‚ and he decided that day that he would not spend his life tied down by his injury. With the help of his family‚ he was able to overcome his diagnosis. Instagram “[My] family always believed in me and helped me from the very beginning‚ [before] the first movements even started‚ my mother got up in the middle of the night and she moved my legs. My brother carried me up the stairs when I couldn’t walk.”  Tim Marovt Runs Marathons Across the Globe to Inspire Others to Overcome the Impossible Today‚ Tim has not only returned to walking and driving‚ but he skis and continues to challenge himself by running marathons across the globe. Last year alone he ran marathons in London‚ Paris‚ Dallas‚ Manchester‚ Vienna‚ and Ljubljana‚ according to his Instagram page. He also climbed “the highest peak in Slovenia.” “In 2024‚ I aim to make even more significant moves‚” he shared. Instagram Tim Marovt‚ now 22‚ has dedicated to helping others find the confidence and courage to overcome their disabilities through Timson. “Everything starts with a dream and a vision. Visualize your success as clearly as possible. Believe in it strongly‚” he penned on his webpage. “Practice self-discipline‚ and take action. You can rise above all the odds. But ultimately‚ the greatest victory is overcoming yourself.” Be sure to share Tim Marvot’s amazing story. You can find the source of this story’s featured images here and here.
