Kid Rock Lands His First Ever #1 Hit On The Christian Charts With Cover Of Cody Johnson’s “Til’ You Can’t”

Kid Rock… the Christian artist? As crazy as that might sound, Robert Ritchie (A.K.A. Kid Rock) can now say that he has a No. 1 hit song on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart. His cover of Cody Johnson’s 2022 hit, “Til’ You Can’t,” featuring a new verse about giving your life to Jesus, debuted at the very top of the chart, with over 3.7 million streams and 51,000 units sold. You might recall that Kid Rock sort of caught everyone off guard with the song when he played his version for the very first time at the Hondo Rodeo Fest, dedicating the performance to the late Charlie Kirk. But the song really took off when he performed it again at Turning Point USA’s “All-American” Halftime Show. After being introduced to the stage by his legal name, representing the notion that he’s changed from the person he was when the Kid Rock moniker began, the artist shared that he woke up one morning and felt called to add one more verse to the song that Cody Johnson released in 2022: “I awoke one Sunday morning all alone with this song stuck in my head, and in that moment, something or someone spoke to me. They said there was still a verse that needed to be written for this song. And to get up and write it down.”  The verse Bob added at the end, which effectively let it be included in the Hot Christian Songs chart (and provided Kid Rock with a writing credit), goes like this: “There’s a book that is sitting in your house somewhere That could use some dusting off There’s a man that died for all our sins, hanging on the cross You can give your life to Jesus, and he’ll give you a second chance ‘Til you can’t” Soon after the halftime show performance, Kid Rock announced that he already had a studio recording of the song ready to go. He released it on February 9, the day after the Super Bowl, and it appears the track rode the momentum of the moment to get to the No. 1 spot. Ahead of the song’s release, Kid Rock revealed that he was given the blessing of both Cody Johnson and the songwriters – Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers – to record his version of their song that was already a No. 1 hit on the Hot Country Songs chart: “A big thank you to Cody Johnson and the songwriters Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers for giving me their blessing to record and release it. It really is one of the best written songs I have heard in a long time and NOTHING is more powerful than a great song in my book!” If you enjoyed our version of "Til Ya Can’t” on The TPUSA All American Halftime – Our studio recording of it will be available to purchase or stream at midnight tonight! A big thank you to @codyjohnson and the songwriters Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers for giving me there blessing… pic.twitter.com/KzKUfKHebh — KidRock (@KidRock) February 9, 2026 Powerful song indeed. Just a slight addition to “Til’ You Can’t” made it a chart topper once again, and in an entirely different category. His cover didn’t just have success on the Hot Christian Songs chart. Kid Rock’s rendition of “Til’ You Can’t” debuted at No. 9 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, No. 14 on Hot Country Songs, and No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100. Clearly the reimagined track landed with a lot of different people. And if you haven’t had a chance to listen to it, you can press play on the link below: The post Kid Rock Lands His First Ever #1 Hit On The Christian Charts With Cover Of Cody Johnson’s “Til’ You Can’t” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

U.S. and Iran hold second round of nuclear talks in Geneva

U.S. and Iranian officials concluded another round of nuclear negotiations in Geneva Tuesday.  Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran and Washington had reached an “understanding” on what he described as the “main principles” that would guide future talks, including potential sanctions relief and nuclear restrictions, according to Iranian government readouts. He characterized the discussions as “very serious” and said more details would be negotiated in subsequent sessions.  U.S. officials put forward a more cautious assessment of the negotiations. Vice President J.D. Vance said Iran had not agreed to several key U.S. demands and warned that military action remained an option if diplomacy fails. Speaking to Fox News on Tuesday, Vance said the negotiations “in some ways … went well” because Iranian officials agreed to continue discussions, but added that President Donald Trump had set redlines Tehran was “not yet willing to actually acknowledge and work through.” He reiterated that Washington’s “primary interest” is preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and “all options remain on the table.”  The post U.S. and Iran hold second round of nuclear talks in Geneva appeared first on The American Conservative.

DHS Shuts Down in Funding Spat Over ICE Reforms

The Department of Homeland Security shut down this weekend after lawmakers failed to reach a funding agreement, leaving thousands of employees facing missed paychecks. While Congress approved full-year fiscal 2026 funding on February 3 for every other federal agency, Democrats withheld support for DHS, demanding reforms to President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement crackdown following fatal shootings involving department personnel. Roughly 92 percent of DHS employees are still working, but about 23,000 of nearly 250,000 are expected to be furloughed. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection can draw on funding from last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, so the shutdown will not affect the Trump administration’s deportation efforts or border security. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) outlined demands including banning masks for DHS officers, mandating body cameras and requiring third-party warrants for home entries. Republicans rejected several of the proposals. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said that employees of the DHS are “critical to the functioning of our federal government” and “shouldn’t be held hostage in a government shutdown.” The post DHS Shuts Down in Funding Spat Over ICE Reforms appeared first on The American Conservative.

Stephen Colbert slams CBS, says lawyers told him James Talarico interview could not air on "The Late Show"

"The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert criticized CBS on Monday night, saying the network blocked his interview with U.S. Senate hopeful James Talarico from airing. "You know who is not one of my guests tonight? That's Texas State Representative James Talarico," Colbert told his studio audience. "He was supposed to be here, but we were told in no uncertain terms by our network's lawyers, who called us directly, that we could not have him on the broadcast. Then I was told in some uncertain terms that not only could I not have him on, I could not mention me not having him on. And because my network clearly doesn't want us to talk about this, let's talk about this."

Stephen Colbert says CBS spiked interview with Democrat over FCC fears

US late-night host Stephen Colbert has accused his network of refusing to broadcast an interview with a Democratic politician over fears of retaliation by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). CBS, the network which hosts the programme, denies that it "prohibited" the interview from being aired, saying it gave only "legal guidance". On Monday night's show, Colbert said that CBS would not show his interview with Texas lawmaker James Talarico out of concerns about a response from the FCC, which has new guidance on equal airtime for political candidates.
