Eric Church Delivers Acoustic Headlining Set At Country Stampede In Kansas As Last Minute Fill-In For Luke Bryan

Not bad for a last-minute call from the bullpen. Luke Bryan has been battling illness recently that caused him to refund the entire crowd at his show in Arkansas last week after powering through vocal issues: @sonya_roberson Luke Bryan refunded all of our tickets because he lost his voice #fyp #foryou #lukebryan #arkansas ♬ That’s My Kind Of Night – Bridge – Luke Bryan After performing that show, Luke announced that he would be rescheduling his shows this past weekend in Dallas, Texas and LaFayette, Louisiana. But he’s still on the mend, and earlier this week announced that he’s going to have to take another weekend off to recover. Luke was scheduled to headline a trio of festivals this weekend, including Country Stampede in Bonner Springs, Kansas on Thursday, NEBRASKAland Days on Friday, and Country Jam Colorado on Saturday night. But he was also forced to cancel those appearances – and call up a friend to fill in for him. I’m really sorry to say I won’t be able to play this weekend’s shows due to continued illness. I’ve been hoping to rally, but my voice is just not there yet. Huge thanks to my buddy @ericchurch for stepping in last minute — and of course, putting on a kick ass show like he… — Luke Bryan (@lukebryan) June 25, 2025 Eric Church is replacing Luke at all three festivals, but getting his entire operation on the road on such short notice forced Church to come up with something new for the crowds. In a statement announcing the performances, Church said he was bringing along longtime backup singer Joanna Cotten for what he promised would be “something unique and spontaneous.” “Festivals are part of the fabric of what made us who we are. Happy to fill in for Luke while he’s on the mend. Not a lot of time to plan or get the whole crew and band together, so I’m bringing Jo and we’re gonna do something unique and spontaneous.” Change of plans, Chief style! Eric is stepping in last minute to perform this week @CountryStampede in Kansas on Thursday night, @NEBRASKAlandDAY on Friday night, and @CountryJamCO on Saturday night as he fills in for Luke Bryan. “Festivals are part of the fabric of what made us… pic.twitter.com/FmpVceFI4x — Eric Church (@ericchurch) June 25, 2025 And last night, at Country Stampede in Kansas, he delivered. Taking the stage with just his guitar and his powerhouse backup singer Joanna Cotten (who should be a superstar in her own right), Church promised the crowd everything he had given the circumstances: “Luke’s a little under the weather. And he said, ‘Man, I need a favor. We’ve got these three festivals.’ And I’ve played these festivals. I grew up playing festivals. And he said, ‘If I have to cancel, nobody’s gonna get to see a show those three nights. Will you go play the shows?’ I said, ‘Man, half my band’s out of the country.’ I said, ‘I can bring myself and a guitar.’… Here’s the way this works. I’m gonna give you everything I have with all I have. You guys give it back to me all night and we’ve gonna have a hell of a night.” @cassthebadass13 Luke Bryan called out sick for three of his shows so Eric Church is stepping in to cover. Just him. Acoustic. One man band. He’s a great artist who sings about real things but this wasn’t a headlining act. Such a wasted Thursday night. #CountryStampede #EricChruch #LukeBryan #guitars #countrymusic #bonnersprings #16years ♬ Drink In My Hand – Eric Church And that’s exactly what happened. Of course ahead of the shows there was a lot of chatter about Church’s 2024 Stagecoach performance, in which he delivered an acoustic set with a gospel choir that featured covers of everything from “Oh Happy Day” to Snoop Dogg’s “Gin & Juice.” That performance drew mixed reactions. But this one? This was vintage Eric Church – and the crowd loved it. Church rolled through his hits like “Springsteen” and “Heart On Fire,” and of course broke out some covers during an extended “Mistress Named Music” medley. @q104kc Eric Church performed acoustically in Bonner Springs as he is filling in for Luke Bryan at Country Stampede #kansascity #ericchurch ♬ original sound – Q104 Kansas City Unlike his last acoustic festival performance, it seems like the crowd was loving this one…and for good reason. This was vintage Eric Church, the Chief at his best. It was all about the songs, and true to his promise, Church gave it all he had – and the crowd gave it right back. @seriesofunfortion @Eric Church filling in for @Luke Bryan with an Acoustic set. Pretty awesome crowd! #Ericchurch #azura #lukebryan #acoustic #takemetochurch #recordyear #countrystampede #kansas #sick ♬ original sound – Series of unfortunate events It’s not the first time Chief has delivered a full set acoustic due to logistical issues. There was a show a few years ago when his band got sick, and rather than cancel, Church decided to go on with the show solo. And then there were two shows back during COVID when the band wasn’t available, and he did the same thing. There aren’t many artists who would attempt to do something like this, which is a shame, because it strips out all of the smoke and mirrors that have been added to live performances these days and takes it back to what it’s really about. If you have tickets to the shows these next two nights, you’re in for something special. @kcconcertclips #ericchurch #mrmisunderstood #acoustic #kansascity #azuraamphitheater #sandstone #countrystampede ♬ original sound – KCconcertclips The post Eric Church Delivers Acoustic Headlining Set At Country Stampede In Kansas As Last Minute Fill-In For Luke Bryan first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Chris Stapleton Says No Songwriter Can Predict A Big Hit: “Those Guys Are Full Of ****”

Chris Stapleton Says No Songwriter Can Predict A Big Hit: “Those Guys Are Full Of ****”

If anyone knows about a little something about writing hits, it’s Chris Stapleton. Long before he was the country music superstar that we all recognize today, Chris was just a songwriter, and for him, that was a dream job. The Kentucky native was the valedictorian at his high school, and briefly attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville (pretty good school, eh?) to study… biomedical engineering? Yeah, one of the greatest vocalists country music has ever seen was on track to designing medical equipment… smart dude. But luckily for him, his family, and all of us, he ditched the classroom for the writing room. Chris wrote hits for megastars like Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt and Gary Allan in the early 2000s, but he really broke out with a couple mega-hits for Josh Turner and Kenny Chesney around 2007. He would go on to pen hits for George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and many more. Of course, he burst onto the scene as a solo artist back in 2015 with his debut album Traveller, which cooled off a few months after its release. But at the CMA Awards later that fall, a duet of “Tennessee Whiskey” alongside pop star Justin Timberlake, sent Chris blasting off on a rocket to the moon… one that still hasn’t landed yet. And the rest is history… But for someone as accomplished as Chris is, one who by all accounts has the pedigree of a hit songwriter, he firmly argues that nobody can predict the success of a song… not a writer, not a label, and certainly not a computer program. A while back, Chris sat down for a big interview with 60 Minutes, and he was asked specifically about his secret to writing a great song, and how you know when you have a real winner on your hands… one that is guaranteed to crush on country radio. And Chris responded saying that it’s really impossible to ever predict what song will resonate with fans until they hear it, because what speaks to people on a deep level in their soul is based on a feeling, not a statistic or spreadsheet: “I don’t think I ever know that. The win is finishing the song. And there are a lot of songwriters who will claim that they know, ‘Yeah, I knew when we wrote this one that it was a six-week #1 and I was gonna get a big giant check in the mail.’ I really just think those guys are full of ****. I don’t think anybody knows that. Like, you can’t possibly know how everybody’s gonna feel about a song that you write. That’s impossible to know.” I mean, if they truly did know, wouldn’t they just write mega-hit after mega-hit and keep cashing monster checks? Half of the time, many songwriters don’t even know who is going to wind up cutting it or if it will even be a single. Unless they co-wrote it with a big recording artist like Morgan Wallen or Luke Combs. The truth is, many labels select singles to send to country radio based on early streaming numbers, computer AI models, or data they collect from surveys of small groups of people (focus groups), but Chris thinks it’s all a bunch of nonsense. Of course, there are plenty of examples of artists fighting for the singles they want, like Eric Church threatening to walk over “Smoke A Little Smoke,” but many up and coming artists don’t always have a ton of say in the matter. Stapleton says he only trusts the people who listen to his music, and he gauges the success of any given single by how it speaks to their heart, the kind of emotion the song elicits in true fans, not casual listeners. “I don’t trust computer research or phone surveys, or anything like that. You have to take it to the people. I trust people. And I trust people who have taste.” Keyword… have taste. At the end of the day, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more genuine or authentic artist than Chris Stapleton. Morgan Wallen Releases Studio Cover Of 2014 Nothing But Thieves Song, “Graveyard Whistling”

The full treatment Today, Morgan Wallen released a cover of Nothing But Thieves’ song “Graveyard Whistling” as an Amazon Music exclusive, which he previously performed as part of his even-song project called Abbey Road Sessions. His previous live performance video quickly became a fan-favorite, and it was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. Right now, the cover is only available as an Amazon exclusive, but Morgan definitely put his own spin on the 2014 song by English rock band, and the production has that certain “thing” to it that most of his songs to in terms of it having even just a touch of hip hop and even R&B influence. His voice sounds great, and you can listen to a clip of it here, and obviously if you have Amazon Music, you can listen to the full cover over there. I’d be interested to hear what the Nothing But Thieves fans think about this version… Morgan has always pulled from multiple different genres in terms of the wide variety of inspiration in his own music, so it’s not surprising he picked this song for the exclusive though I do wonder how Thieves fans would feel about it sounding much more country: Here is the Abbey Road Studios performance video, which I am definitely partial to. I thought this was a really incredible rendition, and I wish he would’ve stayed a little more true to how he did it here, but I think fans will be excited to have a studio cover of it regardless: “Graveyard Whistling” Morgan will continue his 2025 I’m The Problem Tour tomorrow in Madison, Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium with Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert serving as openers. 2025 I’m The Problem Tour Dates: June 20 // NRG Stadium // Houston, Texas w/ Corey Kent and Koe Wetzel June 21 // NRG Stadium // Houston, Texas w/ Corey Kent and Koe Wetzel June 28 // Camp Randall Stadium // Madison, Wis. w/ Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert July 11 // Hard Rock Stadium // Miami Gardens, Fla. w/ Gavin Adcock and Miranda Lambert July 12 // Hard Rock Stadium // Miami Gardens, Fla. w/ Gavin Adcock and Brooks & Dunn July 18 // State Farm Stadium // Glendale, Ariz. w/ Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert July 19 // State Farm Stadium // Glendale, Ariz. w/ Ella Langley and Brooks & Dunn July 25 // Lumen Field // Seattle, Wash. w/ Anne Wilson and Miranda Lambert July 26 // Lumen Field // Seattle, Wash. w/ Anne Wilson and Brooks & Dunn Aug 1 // Levi’s Stadium // Santa Clara, Calif. w/ Anne Wilson and Miranda Lambert Aug 2 // Levi’s Stadium // Santa Clara, Calif. w/ Anne Wilson and Brooks & Dunn Aug 15 // Huntington Bank Field // Cleveland, Ohio w/ Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert Aug 16 // Huntington Bank Field // Cleveland, Ohio w/ Ella Langley and Thomas Rhett Aug 22 // Gillette Stadium // Foxborough, Mass. w/ Corey Kent and Miranda Lambert Aug 23 // Gillette Stadium // Foxborough, Mass. w/ Corey Kent and Miranda Lambert Sep 4 // Rogers Centre // Toronto, ON w/ Gavin Adcock and Miranda Lambert Sep 5 // Rogers Centre // Toronto, ON w/ Gavin Adcock and Brooks & Dunn Sep 12 // Commonwealth Stadium // Edmonton, AB w/ Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert Sep 13 // Commonwealth Stadium // Edmonton, AB w/ Ella Langley and Brooks & DunnThe post Morgan Wallen Releases Studio Cover Of 2014 Nothing But Thieves Song, “Graveyard Whistling” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Supreme Court Rules Against Issuing Nationwide Injunctions

The following article, Supreme Court Rules Against Issuing Nationwide Injunctions, was first published on Conservative Firing Line. In a 6-3 ruling, the Supreme Court stated that lower courts issuing nationwide injunctions is not acceptable except in narrowly defined cases. The original case was one that was supposed to be regarding birthright citizenship. The court stated that district court judges who issue nationwide injunction have exceeded their authority granted by Congress. All liberals … Continue reading Supreme Court Rules Against Issuing Nationwide Injunctions ...
