I hate that I love Riverside’s AI-driven “Rewind” for podcasters

Riverside's year-end review is amusing, but it represents a creative culture that's increasingly entwined with AI.

Did You Know That Rob Reiner Appeared In Reba McEntire’s “Does He Love You” Music Video?

Did You Know That Rob Reiner Appeared In Reba McEntire’s “Does He Love You” Music Video?

Such a tragic situation. Last night it was revealed that actor and director Rob Reiner had been brutally murdered, alongside his wife Michele, in their Los Angeles home. Reiner got his start in the entertainment industry back in the late 1960s with small roles in shows like The Andy Griffith Show and The Beverly Hillbillies before getting his breakout role as “Meathead” on All In the Family starting in 1971. While he continued acting, Reiner came to be known more for his work as a director on critically-acclaimed films like When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, and A Few Good Men.  Reiner’s son, Nick Reiner, was arrested this morning for the shocking murder of his parents and is currently being held without bond. It’s reported that Nick had severe mental health and drug abuse issues, and had allegedly had a “loud” altercation with his parents over the weekend during a Christmas party hosted by Conan O’Brien. Immediately the tributes for Reiner began pouring in, including from some in the country music world who had worked with him. Reba McEntire posted a heartfelt tribute to the late actor and director, who had actually used his experience in both of those roles for her 1993 music video for “Does He Love You.” The song was of course a duet with Linda Davis, and the cinematic music video showcases a love triangle between the two singers and their man. The video features several scenes of them both with the man, and ends when Davis and the unnamed man take off on a boat together – only for the boat to explode as director Rob Reiner yells “Cut!” to show the cast the footage they had been filming. At the time of the music video, Reba had been working with Reiner on his movie North, and today Reba fondly recalled her projects with the actor and director: “I enjoyed every minute I was around Rob Reiner. He was one of a kind. I got to work with him on the movie North and he also helped us with our ending of my video, “Does He Love You.” I sure will miss him. What a gift he was to this world. Rest in peace, my friend.” View this post on Instagram Of course Reba’s tribute to Reiner is probably not going to get as much attention as it normally would, because it seems the conversation has centered around the message released by President Donald Trump this morning. Reiner was an outspoken liberal and frequent critic of Trump, and the president released a statement that’s been largely condemned by both sides of the aisle criticizing Reiner for his “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!” pic.twitter.com/pibzXhB2x9 — Rapid Response 47 (@RapidResponse47) December 15, 2025 Yeah, that’s a little different from the statement Reba released. Regardless of how you feel about his politics, the whole situation is absolutely horrific and heartbreaking all around, especially for the rest of the family that now has to deal with not only the loss of two loved ones, but also the fact that it was done by a member of their own family. I can’t even imagine. The post Did You Know That Rob Reiner Appeared In Reba McEntire’s “Does He Love You” Music Video? first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Kentucky Man Refuses To Sell His Land To AI Company For Millions Of Dollars, & It’s Almost The Exact Story That Cody Johnson’s “Dirt Cheap” Lays Out

Kentucky Man Refuses To Sell His Land To AI Company For Millions Of Dollars, & It’s Almost The Exact Story That Cody Johnson’s “Dirt Cheap” Lays Out

Standing strong and staying put. It’s a tale as old as time. Some big corporation comes to Small Town, America and starts waiving around millions of dollars in an attempt to convince residents to hand over their land. Granted, some people will take the money and run. But for others – like Dr. Tim Grosser in Maysville, Kentucky – there’s not an amount of cash that you could offer to make him give up his home. Though the company’s name is not available, what’s being described as one of the “world’s largest artificial intelligence companies” apparently has its eyes set on some land in Northern Kentucky. They want the sprawling farm land so that they can build a massive data center to further aid their AI development. But there’s only one problem. A Kentucky man isn’t interested in giving his land up, and there’s apparently no amount of money that could convince him otherwise. Tim Grosser has lived in Maysville, Kentucky for around three decades, and he owns about 250 acres that features creeks, beautiful rolling hills, and fertile soil for farming. The land is incredibly valuable, and not just in the monetary sense. The Kentucky man has amassed plenty of memories on his property, which now serves his family across multiple generations, as he told WKRC: “My grandson loves to come up here and hunt deer and turkeys. It’s just what we do.” Obviously, if he were to sell the land, Grosser and his family could no longer utilize the property. This AI company is looking for around 2,000 acres in the Maysville area, so the man’s acreage could knock out a significant chunk out of that goal. However, Grosser isn’t budging as the company continues to offer him millions of dollars for his land. The market value of his entire property is around $2 million. The unnamed AI organization apparently offered him $4 million initially. He turned it down. They then upped their offer to over $8 million. Grosser turned them down on that as well. They’ve since told Grosser to name his price, and he refuses to do so. When asked why by WKRC, the Maysville resident said this: “That money can’t buy happiness.” Sticking it to the man AI… I love it. The company and the town could still opt to built the data center without Grosser’s land if other landowners in the area are willing to sell. That would mean that the Kentucky man’s property would be located right next to the data center, which in turn could hurt his property value. But Grosser still refuses to give in, because to him, the land he owns in the Bluegrass State is priceless. Does that story sound familiar at all? Ring any bells whatsoever? Specifically in the country music world? Becuase if you ask me, it’s eerily similar to the story that Cody Johnson’s “Dirt Cheap” lays out. Think about the intro to that song… a group comes in thinking they could pay “top dollar” to get an old man to move out of his home and off his land for a planned development. “They came in thinkin’ top dollarTo that old cotton crop farmerThey knocked on his screen door, and he said‘Lord, what you need, boys,’  and they said‘You know all the others went and cashed outWe got the subdivision all mapped outIt’ll sit right here on this landAnd you can leave town a rich man.’And he said, ‘Boys, whatever you’re offerin’, it won’t be enough.'” And why does the old man refuse to give in and accept the cash offer? Because the land has been in his family for so many years that the memories are worth more than the millions, as the chorus poetically puts it: “‘Cause I got a little girl that used to swing right thereI still see her pink bow in her brown hairShe’s in the big city, but she still calls homeWhat’s she gonna do if she comes back, and we’re gone? And over there, under that wide oak treeBeneath the cross is where my best buddy’s buriedLasted 13 huntin’ season runnin’ strongKeep your money ’cause a man can’t leave his dogAnd over there is where I got down on one kneeYou can’t buy that kind of dirt cheap.'” In other words, we have a real life “Dirt Cheap” situation playing out in Northern Kentucky, and something tells me that Dr. Tim Grosser’s decision to stand his ground and keep his land would have Cody Johnson’s approval. “Dirt Cheap” by Cody Johnson The post Kentucky Man Refuses To Sell His Land To AI Company For Millions Of Dollars, & It’s Almost The Exact Story That Cody Johnson’s “Dirt Cheap” Lays Out first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Wyatt Flores Joins The Turnpike Troubadours For Killer Performance Of “The Bird Hunters”

Making Oklahoma proud. If there’s one thing for certain as we take a look back on 2025, it’s the fact that the current Red Dirt renaissance we’ve been experiencing over the past few years is bound to hit a fever pitch. Highlighted by the huge success of Cross Canadian Ragweed’s reunion in the Boys From Oklahoma concert series, their close friends and proteges, the Turnpike Troubadours, have also experienced some career-highs throughout the year. In addition to their obvious inclusion in all the aforementioned Boys From Oklahoma concerts, they also released their sixth studio album, The Price of Admission, back in April to high praise from both fans and critics alike. Marking the second release since the band returned from an extended hiatus, The Price of Admission proved to many (myself included) why Turnpike is ultimately one of the greatest bands in the history of the genre, featuring some all-time tracks from the group such as “Heaven Passing Through,” “On The Red River” and the severely underrated, “Ruby Ann.” Of course, the record was regarded as one of the best releases of the year, being crowned our #1 album of 2025 here at Whiskey Riff and making nearly every dedicated country fan’s Top 10 of the year. However, it’s not just Ragweed and Turnpike making waves in the Red Dirt scene and Oklahoma in particular. Simply put, the state has been a breeding ground for the best in the business right now, also highlighted by the likes of Kaitlin Butts, Southall, J.R. Carroll, Jason Boland, Josh Meloy, John Moreland, Lance Roark and, of course, Wyatt Flores. Ironically, just days after the entire Red Dirt scene, in particular Turnpike and Flores, was honored at the Country Music Hall of Fame as a part of their “American Currents: State of the Music” exhibit, the two teamed up for a set of concerts in both Mesa, Arizona and Stateline, Nevada, over the weekend. If there’s one thing that’s been abundantly clear about Flores, it’s just how much respect and appreciation he has for the Red Dirt legends and their impact on him and the other aforementioned artists. Beyond delivering phenomenal covers of their tracks in the past, such as “Kansas City Southern,” “Pay No Rent” and “Diamonds & Gasoline” in the past, he’d also give them their flowers in the aforementioned Hall of Fame exhibit, noting they “changed everything.” “That’s one of the biggest influences on my entire career just because of their storytelling and their sound throughout the years. I mean, I could go on and on. It’s just crazy that I’m getting to go from being just a fan to getting to open up for them at Red Rocks and then getting to be here tonight with them because they really changed everything.” And in celebration of the pair’s big years (and inclusion at the Hall of Fame), they treated fans to a surprise collaboration during their Nevada show and performed the Turnpike fan-favorite, “The Bird Hunters” over the weekend, much to the delight of the sold-out crowd at Tahoe Blue Event Center. @officialwyattflores Always an honor to get to sing one with the @Turnpike Troubadours! Thank ya Lake Tahoe #wyattflores #turnpiketroubadours #laketahoe #nevada #california ♬ original sound – Wyatt Flores It should go without saying that “The Bird Hunters” is one of the key songs in Turnpike’s deep, legendary discography. Appearing as the opening track on 2015’s self-titled album, “The Bird Hunters” is arguably frontman Evan Felker’s best storytelling song to date, depicting an incredibly intricate story of a friend returning home after a failed relationship, all told while the two sit in a duck blind recalling their past memories. Unsurprisingly, Flores absolutely crushes the iconic chorus with Felker beside him. Given the amount of love both Oklahoma natives have for each other, it’s long overdue to get a song (or at least an official live recording of this performance) from the pair. If you’re a fan of both Flores and Turnpike, this is a must-watch. “The Bird Hunters” Wild America Tour 2026 Dates January 30 – Fort Worth, Texas – Billy Bob’s Texas January 31 – Fort Worth, Texas – Billy Bob’s Texas February 5 – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – The Met Philadelphia * February 6 – Uncasville, Connecticut- Mohegan Sun Arena * February 7 – Boston, Massachusetts – MGM Music Hall at Fenway * March 27 – West Valley City, Utah – Maverick Center #^ March 28 – Boise, Idaho – ExtraMile Arena #^ June 5 – New York, New York – The Rooftop at Pier 17 @ June 6 – Asbury Park, New Jersey – The Stone Pony Summer Stage @ * with Robert Earl Keen # with Charles Wesley Godwin ^ with Buffalo Traffic Jam @ with LuceroThe post Wyatt Flores Joins The Turnpike Troubadours For Killer Performance Of “The Bird Hunters” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
