Country Music Fans Think Ella Langley Was Referencing Megan Moroney When She Changed This Lyric In “Choosin’ Texas”

Here we go again. Country music fans believe that Ella Langley might have thrown some shade at Megan Moroney during a recent concert, but I think this is a reach to keep the love-triangle narrative between Megan, Ella, and Riley Green going. Of course, over the last year or so, I think we’ve all seen the rumors about Ella Langley and her duet partner, Riley Green, who fans have quite literally been obsessed with since they released their hit song “You Look Like You Love Me” last year. Megan Moroney also got pulled into the rumors about a love triangle after she was spotted hanging out with Riley Green, which became a huge story. People are still trying to get to the bottom of it. The theory about Megan and Riley really gained traction after they were first spotted at Riley’s Nashville bar, Duck Blind, and later were seen riding around in Riley’s Chrysler LeBaron convertible in his hometown of Jacksonville, Alabama. The viral TikTok is available to see HERE. And after Ella recently announced her already fan-favorite unreleased song “Choosin’ Texas,” she just shared the album artwork. It looks… strikingly similar to the viral picture of Megan and Riley. The cowboy hat and vintage car are uncanny and very much look like what we see Riley wear these days, and of course, the girl has long blonde hair that should look very familiar to country music fans. I’m sure Ella will never confirm nor deny any of it, but sometimes, you have to take the hint and read between the lines… Take a look at the cover art for yourself and see what you think: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ella Langley (@ellalangleymusic) Say what you want about the album artwork, but any speculation of it pointing to this love triangle was put to bed after the twangy song was released. Fans are in love with “Choosin’ Texas” and have been foaming at the mouth to hear it live. After releasing the single, Langley was touring Texas, which felt very fitting given its timing, and she has since ventured to other Southeastern states. Recently, Langley hit the stage at the famed Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia. In honor of being in Georgia territory, Langley had a little fun with the lyrics of “Choosin’ Texas” during the show, changing them to reflect the state she was in. In the song, Langley typically sings the bridge as: “When I’m eastbound and down and I can’t help but cry‘Cause I-40 gets lonelier with every mileI’ll know that his mind wasn’t ever gonna change‘Cause his heart still belongs to the Lone Star State” During the show, she changed the lyrics to reflect a nickname of Athens, Georgia: “When I’m eastbound and down and I can’t help but cry‘Cause I-40 gets lonelier with every mileI’ll know that his mind wasn’t ever gonna change‘Cause his heart still belongs to the Bulldog state” @alyelliejoe @Ella Langley !!!! #ellalangley #choosintexas #dawgs #athensga ♬ original sound – Alyssa Jones Pretty cute, right? We’ve seen country music stars change the lyrics of songs to reflect the town they are playing in, and it never fails to hype up the audience and make them feel special. However, some folks did not see it as a harmless lyric change and thought that she was doing it as a shot at Megan Moroney and Riley Green, given that Megan is a known Georgia native and Bulldogs fan. Later, the same user shared the video of the lyrics swap and posted another showing that Megan Moroney added her video of Ella singing the changed lyrics to her favorites folder on TikTok. It did not take long for social media users to start reading into this. Did Megan like the video because she appreciated the nod to the Dawgs? Did Megan favorite the footage because she saw it as a dig at her? The implication from the user who shared this post was that Megan saved the video, thinking it was a shot at her, and captioned the post: “Alexa, play you’re so vein by Carly Simon.” @alyelliejoe #duet with @Alyssa Jones Alexa, play you’re so vein by Carly Simon. #ellalangley #meganmoroney #rileygreen #choosintexas ♬ original sound – Alyssa Jones Langley must have seen this post because her Instagram story featured “You’re So Vein” by Carly Simon, with a black and red heart above it. Even if Ella Langley and Megan Moroney are not fond of each other, can we please stop pitting these two women against each other? Country music is hard on women, and they have defied the odds to become as big of stars as they are, so let them make music, tour, and create memories with their fans in peace. No matter the intention behind changing the lyrics, it felt like an innocent swap, given she was playing in Athens, Georgia. I am sure that many other artists have done similar lyric swaps in college towns over the years. The post Country Music Fans Think Ella Langley Was Referencing Megan Moroney When She Changed This Lyric In “Choosin’ Texas” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Reba’s Sister Once Gave Her A Christmas Gift That Has Kept Her Humble Over The Years: “I’m Not A Star — I’m A Twinkle”

Reba’s Sister Once Gave Her A Christmas Gift That Has Kept Her Humble Over The Years: “I’m Not A Star — I’m A Twinkle”

No matter how famous you are or what level of success you achieve, you can always count on your family members to keep you humble. Given that I am not a famous person, nor related to one, I assume it must be a weird experience for friends and family. The person you know is still the same goofy, loving, and caring family member or friend that you love, but they now have a massive spotlight on them and fans who idolize them in a way. While I am sure the dynamics of that relationship don’t change much when it comes to the quality time spent together, that time lessens as their schedule gets busier and they are on the road touring. While I am sure it feels like a lot has changed, a lot probably stays the same. Reba McEntire recently disclosed to People that her sister, Alice, gave her a gift years ago that keeps her close to her humble beginnings, reminding her that no matter how famous she becomes, she is always viewed the same in the eyes of her family members. This year, Reba is celebrating 50 years and counting of her career in the music industry. The Oklahoma native signed her first record deal in 1976 after being discovered while singing the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A young Reba McEntire had a pretty “decent” voice, so she often worked as the opening act, eventually leading to her discovery moment. Reba singing the “Star Spangled Banner” at the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City kick-started her stardom as attendees were enthralled with her natural talent. Throughout her career, she’s sold more than 75 million albums, landed 24 number-one singles, earned three Grammy Awards, and won CMA Female Vocalist of the Year four times, among other accolades. “Time flies when you’re having fun. Wow, I still see where I was signing the contract 50 years ago… I had no idea about the music business. I was a rodeo cowgirl; I was a rancher’s daughter, and a rodeo brat. To get into the music business was scary, leaving all my friends and my family, but I had great people who guided me. That was the thing I got out of this whole career — my friends.” Reba reflects on her time in the music industry, noting that she was a deer in headlights, entering the space, not knowing how this career worked, nor did she think it would span as long as it has today. “See, I thought when you got a record label to sign, you had a record on the radio, well, you got a tour bus, and you’re rich. My first tour bus was years later, and it broke down every day. Before that, I was in vans and pickup trucks with campers and horse trailers to haul the gear and stuff. My imagination wasn’t big enough to even create what I’ve gotten to do in my career.” Reba’s success story is truly inspiring, and she serves as a role model for many women trying to make it in the country music space today. However, no matter what accolades Reba has to her name, her siblings will always see her as the sister who was running around on the ranch and rodeoing with them growing up. In fact, Reba keeps in touch with her humble beginnings by keeping a rather cheeky gift her sister once gave her for Christmas around. “My sister Alice, for Christmas one year, gave me a toilet seat cover. On the top of the toilet seat, it said, ‘The Twinkle,’ to let me know I’m not a star — I’m a twinkle. Keeps me grounded.” HA. Nothing like a reminder of how far you’ve come when visiting the porcelain throne. Reba, if you’re reading this, please give the people what they want… a picture of this glorious “The Twinkle” toilet seat cover. Despite being a national icon, Reba has still kept in touch with her roots and has not let the limelight get to her head. Reba is still the corn dog-loving, rodeo-championing girl from McAlester, Oklahoma, that we first saw singing the “Star Spangled Banner.” Just for fun, check out the famed “Star Spangled Banner” performance from 1974 while you’re here. @whiskeyriff The performance that put Reba on the map. // : Supersporty34 (YouTube) #whiskeyriff #reba #nfr #starspangledbanner ♬ original sound – Whiskey Riff The post Reba’s Sister Once Gave Her A Christmas Gift That Has Kept Her Humble Over The Years: “I’m Not A Star — I’m A Twinkle” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Morgan Wallen Tells Police Officer Not To Play Any Chris Young During Ride To The Station Following Arrest At Chief’s: “Hell No… He’s Terrible”

No Morgan Wallen and Chris Young collabs coming anytime soon… And I’m more than okay with that…. By now, most country fans know about the infamous “chair-throwing incident” at Eric Church’s downtown Nashville bar, Chief’s, that made headlines last year. Country superstar Morgan Wallen was arrested and charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct after allegedly tossing a chair from the rooftop of the six-story bar. He later pled guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment in Davidson County Court in December 2024. Wallen’s sentence included two years of probation and seven days in jail, to be served at a DUI education center. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident — though the story continues to follow him months later. Earlier this month, bodycam footage from the night of his arrest surfaced, showing Wallen talking with police before being handcuffed and driven away. In the video, obtained by the Associated Press from the Metro Nashville Police Department, both Wallen and his bodyguard denied that he threw the chair. Wallen can be heard telling officers, “I ain’t done nothing wrong.” He also called his friend and bar owner, Eric Church, to explain what was happening. Church can’t be heard on the recording, but there’s was much Eric could do regardless. Unfortunately for Morgan, officers were able to determine after watching the security camera footage that he was in fact the suspect behind the flying chair, and the country superstar was cuffed and placed in the back of the cruiser. More police bodycam footage has been released over the last several days, which shows more of Morgan’s ride in the back of the cop car, and when he was booked at the station. Ultimately, it was a pretty funny video, and Morgan is quite the charming character, even when he’s had a few too many. Maybe you can chalk part of it up to being starstruck, but he has everybody laughing… from the time he’s cuffed, to the time he’s booked (the woman at the station hilariously processed him the last time he was arrested downtown). Although… something tell me Chris Young won’t be laughing… Morgan and Officer Lopez, as Morgan refers to him in the footage, go on to discuss their favorite country music artists, after Morgan asks who he listens to. The officer admits that Morgan is one of his favorites, and also says he loves Zach Bryan and Josh Turner. Morgan says he knows who Bryan is, but hasn’t ever really listened to his music, though he admits that he loves Josh Turner and has listened to him since he was a kid. And during their discussion about favorite country music singers, Morgan goes onto say that he just hopes they don’t hear any Chris Young, because “he’s terrible” and Morgan is clearly not a fan of his music at all. Morgan suggests they listen to his friends Hardy or Ernest instead: “Please do not play any Chris Young on this mother******. Oh hell no, he’s terrible.” Play Hardy or Ern.” Morgan has never publicly said anything about Young or his music before, and obviously he refrains from calling out fellow country artists in particular, but I’m guessing he’d been drinking and probably forgot everything was being recorded during parts of this conversation, and honestly, it’s pretty funny. At some point during the drive, Morgan tells the officer he knew where they were going because he’d been there before, and considering this is most people’s worst nightmare, Morgan remained pretty calm and actually enjoyed hearing himself on the radio when Thomas Rhett came on singing their duet, “Mamaw’s House.” Chris Young out here catching strays, man… @bodycamclips23 He’s kinda funny… #morganwallen #fyp #viral #bodycam #countrymusic ♬ original sound – BodyCamPolice The post Morgan Wallen Tells Police Officer Not To Play Any Chris Young During Ride To The Station Following Arrest At Chief’s: “Hell No… He’s Terrible” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Ashley McBryde Announces Eight Night “Redemption Residency” At Chief’s In Nashville Featuring 3 Unique Sets Of Shows

Eight unforgettable shows. The “girl goin’ nowhere” herself, Ashley McBryde, has hardly lived up to her self-proclaimed nickname over the past few years. After breaking out with Eric Church back in 2017 with her performance of “Bible and A .44,” the Arkansas native has become one of the premier female artists in the genre, scoring a Grammy win for Best Country Duo/Group Performance (“Never Wanted to Be That Girl”) along with multiple ACM and CMA Award wins. Back in August, McBryde scored another major career accomplishment in the form of her brand new Nashville bar, aptly named Redemption as a nod to her sobriety journey. The venue, which is located on the fifth floor of Eric Church’s Chiefs on Broadway, ultimately serves as a spot where fans can celebrate their sobriety through an extensive, non-alcoholic mocktail menu named after a plethora of different songs in her discography.         Of course, it’s not just a “non-alcoholic bar,” something a lot of people seemed not to understand when it was first announced. If you want a drink? You get one of those too. Or you can get any of the mocktails with alcohol added. But instead of going to the bar and having to specify that you want a drink to be made without alcohol, here it’s the other way around. As mentioned earlier, the space was inspired by McBryde’s own sobriety journey, something she discussed recently when she sat down for an appearance on Whiskey Riff Raff: “Not drinking sucks. It sucks when other people are doing it and just you can’t. And it sucks when, over 1,000 days into not drinking, your brain goes, ‘You could probably, if you think about it, two fingers of whiskey, you’d probably be fine.’ And you’re like, I probably would be. I might get sick though. You can’t even entertain this, what are you doing?” During a special preview of Redemption back in August, she explained why it was important to her to have somewhere that people who don’t drink feel comfortable: “The only thing that changed about me was what was in my cup. It didn’t change that I wanted to hang out, or be around people who do what I do… On this menu, when you order something, it just comes that way. And you’re welcome to drink alcohol here too… but you’re going to have to ask for it. You’re welcome to drink or not drink, and I think that’s just friendly.” Now that Redemption has been open for two months, McBryde has announced her first major event at the venue: an eight-show residency featuring three sets of special shows throughout the first half of 2026. Taking to Instagram this morning, the “One Night Standards” singer officially announced the “Redemption Residency.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ashley McBryde (@ashleymcbryde) Instead of simply performing eight standard sets at the eight shows, McBryde is sectioning them off into three separate themes. Beginning on the first weekend, January 22nd and 23rd (and again on March 19th and 20th), McBryde is treating fans to an intimate acoustic session chalked full of stories behind her songs titled “Just Me and My Shadow.” On February 19th and 20th, she’s bringing the world of her brilliant 2022 concept album, Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville, along with other cuts on her albums on the second set of shows titled, “Postcards from Lindeville.” Here, you can expect fan-favorites like “Brenda Put Your Bra On,” “Martha Divine,” “Velvet Red” and Blackout Betty.” Finally, to wrap up the residency on April 17th and 18th, McBryde is paying tribute to all the music that inspired her as an artist in the form of the third and final set, “Mixtape from the Mixed Up Years,” which she describes as the “music that made us want to make music.” As always with McBryde, I’d expect a wide range of different styles and genres that could easily see a Patsy Cline cover followed by an Allman Brothers track or something of the like. Members of McBryde’s fan club, Trybe, will get first access to tickets on Tuesday, October 28th at 12 p.m. CST with public on sale beginning Friday, October 31st at 12 p.m. CST. Redemption Residency Dates January 22 & 23 – Just Me and My Shadow February 19 & 20 – Postcards from Lindeville March 19 & 20 – Just Me and My Shadow April 17 & 18 – Mixtape from the Mixed Up YearsThe post Ashley McBryde Announces Eight Night “Redemption Residency” At Chief’s In Nashville Featuring 3 Unique Sets Of Shows first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
