“You Bet There Is a List!”: Talamasca Producer Teases Future Anne Rice Spinoffs

News Anne Rice Immortal Universe “You Bet There Is a List!”: Talamasca Producer Teases Future Anne Rice Spinoffs “I go to AMC every three months and say, ‘You ready for another? Ready for another?’” By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on October 21, 2025 Photo Credit: David Gennard/AMC Comment 0 Share New Share Photo Credit: David Gennard/AMC Talamasca: The Secret Order, the upcoming AMC series set in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, is set to premiere in mere days. That hasn’t stopped the team behind the show—as well as the original Interview With the Vampire series and Mayfair Witches—from thinking about additional adaptations of Rice’s work. “You bet there is a list,” executive producer Mark Johnson told Entertainment Weekly in an article showcasing Talamasca. Johnson would know: He oversees everything that falls under AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe. “There are so many good ideas,” he added. “She is an extraordinary writer, and that much more extraordinary when you realize when she was writing—it’s really so far ahead of her time.” Johnson went on to tease that they had “three or four other titles [and] subjects that we’d like to pursue… I go to AMC every three months and say, ‘You ready for another? Ready for another?’ And so we’ll have one soon enough…. I think an Anne Rice aficionado could probably figure out which ones are most likely the next in line—[but] I think I’d better keep the titles to myself right now.” The possibilities are intriguing. AMC bought the rights to Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles book series and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches novels. Polygon has reported that a series titled Night Island, which is based on the vampire resort in Queen of the Damned, is in the works, as well as an adaptation of the book, Memnoch the Devil.  Other titles AMC can pluck from include Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, The Tale of the Body Thief, The Vampire Armand, Pandora, Vittorio the Vampire, Blood and Gold, Prince Lestat, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis, and Blood Communion: A Tale of Prince Lestat. We’ve seen Interview with the Vampire on screen already, and season three of the show is getting a new title, The Vampire Lestat, which is based on the second book of the same name. Perhaps a show centered around Armand is on Johnson’s list? I’d watch it if so! On the Mayfair Witches front, the titles AMC has to work from include The Witching Hour, Lasher, Taltos, and The Vampire Chronicles. They also have rights to the crossover novels: Merrick, Blackwood Farm, and Blood Canticle. So many choices! We’ll have to speculate for now, however, and check out Talamasca when it premieres on AMC and AMC+ on October 26, 2025, with new episodes releasing subsequent Sundays. Democrats Double Down on Scandal-Ridden Jay Jones Ahead of Virginia Elections

As national discussion surrounding political violence has intensified, Democrats are continuing to endorse a candidate who admitted to sending text messages calling for the death of a Republican opponent and his family. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., is the latest Democrat official to double down on supporting Democrat nominee for Attorney General of Virginia Jay Jones, despite the candidate’s violent rhetoric. Kaine has repeatedly refused to withdraw his endorsement for Jones’s campaign, insisting, “I’m still supporting Jay Jones.” In an interview Sunday, the senator was asked if his position was hypocritical and whether or not he would insist that a hypothetical Republican who made similar violent comments should retire his campaign. “Absolutely not,” Kaine replied. “It’s directly equivalent to things that the Republican gubernatorial candidate has publicly said, not in private texts,” the senator claimed, referring to GOP nominee for Governor of Virginia Winsome Earle-Sears and her pro-life positions. “‘Murder is murder, and your time will come’—she said that in a public meeting speaking about pro-choice activists. I’ve not called for her to drop out of the race.” “These are fair items for voters to consider as they cast their vote, but no, we’re not calling for Republicans to drop out of races,” Kaine continued. “We say, ‘Apologize.’ You have to take account for your actions, and voters can look at the actions and look at your sincerity if you apologize. Apologies are in short supply in politics these days.” Kaine made similar comments in an interview on Thursday. “Look, the Republican gubernatorial candidate in Virginia has said some vile things and we haven’t called on her to drop out of the race,” he said. “The voters are gonna make this decision. The Jay Jones texts were abhorrent and they are indefensible, but I also have known Jay Jones for 25 years and I put that knowledge on a scale and it weighs more than one really indefensible set of texts.” When Jones’s text messages were first published, Kaine told reporters that he would still endorse Jones for attorney general, repeating the claim that he has known Jones for 25 years. However, Jones is only 36 years old, meaning that Kaine would have known the now-candidate since he was 11 years old. Jones came under fire last month when text messages he sent to a Republican colleague while serving in Virginia’s House of Delegates were published. In those texts, the Democrat suggested that he would shoot then-Speaker of the House Todd Gilbert (R), who deserved “two bullets to the head,” and attend slain Republicans’ funerals to “piss on their graves.” When Republican delegate Carrie Coyner questioned Jones on his comments, he said that political violence is an effective tool and suggested that Gilbert’s children should be shot and killed so that the Republican might reconsider his position on the Second Amendment. He also told Republicans during the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020 that police officers may need to be killed in order to prevent racism. Since then, Democrats at the federal, state, and local level have continued to support Jones and his campaign. Democrat gubernatorial nominee Abigail Spanberger refused to call on Jones to stop campaigning, even when asked about the issue point-blank during a debate against Earle-Sears, and big-name Democrats like former President Bill Clinton and his wife, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, have supported Virginia Democrats. However, the scandal has resulted in a boost for Republicans, according to polling data, with Republicans and Democrats statistically tied in the race for both the governorship and lieutenant governorship and incumbent Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares leading Jones by a wider margin in the race for top prosecutor. Late Sunday, aboard Air Force One, President Donald Trump also encouraged Virginians to vote for Earle-Sears. “The Republican candidate is very good and she should win, because the Democrat candidate’s a disaster,” the president said. Congressional Republicans Slam Jeffries for Not Backing Military Pay Bill

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., has come out against a standalone Senate bill to pay American military service members and some other federal workers. Jeffries’ public opposition comes as thousands of federal employees have been left in the lurch as the federal government shutdown drags into its fourth week. The New York Democrat said at a press conference Monday that the Republican-backed legislation to pay essential federal workers, including military members, “appears to be more like a political ploy giving Donald Trump discretion over which employees should be compensated and which employees should not be compensated.”  Rep. Barry Moore, R-Ala., who is running for the U.S. Senate, told The Daily Signal, “It’s disappointing, but not surprising, to hear Minority Leader Jeffries call paying our troops during a shutdown a ‘political ploy.’” “There’s nothing political about making sure our service members and their families can put food on the table. House Republicans will always stand firm behind our men and women who defend this country, while Democrats in Washington play politics,” the Alabama congressman said, adding: Our troops shouldn’t be caught in the middle of Democrats’ partisan games. They deserve better. As a member of Congress, Jeffries—unlike the thousands of furloughed federal workers—does not face going without pay for the duration of the shutdown. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., has said he will have the House consider the military personnel legislation should it clear the 60-vote threshold in the Senate. Whether that happens will likely be up to Senate Democrats, who tanked a bill last week to fund the Department of War. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, told The Daily Signal, “Democrats have been given nearly a dozen opportunities to pass a bill to keep our government open, and every time they have chosen the shutdown.” “Now, top Democrats refuse to even pay the troops and federal workers. They’re more invested in hating President Trump than helping Americans,” the Utah senator said. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, blamed political dynamics for the harm of the shutdown. In addition to the challenges facing federal workers, the Smithsonian museums and National Zoo have been closed to the public. “[Democrats] don’t care about the people who are being negatively affected. They care about their political base and their political fortunes. And that’s sad,” the Texas lawmaker said. President Donald Trump has tried to partially compensate for the Democrat obstruction of GOP efforts to fund the government by reallocating about $8 billion of research funds that were not used during the prior fiscal year to pay military service members. Federal employees who are not getting paid will be given back pay by law once the shutdown ends.  Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., told The Daily Signal that Jeffries and his Senate counterpart, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., were “holding the American people, especially our brave troops, hostage just to score political points with their radical leftist base.” “The only answer is for Democrats to put their pride aside and end the shutdown immediately,” the West Virginia congressman said. Some prominent Democrats have expressed fear about the repercussions for them from the Left if they vote to fund the government, going so far as to analogize the potential backlash to “getting the guillotine.” “Democrats like Jeffries and [Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga.] would rather hold our troops’ pay hostage and throw our country in turmoil than risk upsetting their radical base. It’s dangerous and cowardly,” said Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., who is seeking the GOP nomination to run against Ossoff in 2026. Easy Homemade Cough Drops with Honey, Lemon and Ginger

Feel a tickle in your throat? Come learn how to make homemade cough drops with our easy step-by-step recipe! Made with all-natural healing ingredients like honey, ginger, lemon and cinnamon, these cough drops can help soothe sore throats, calm coughs, and more. Honestly, I enjoy sucking on them even when I’m not sick – or drop one into a cup of hot tea! Our natural homemade cough drops are sweet and slightly spicy, thanks to the warm notes of fresh ginger and cinnamon. (They remind me of caramelized ginger chew candies – yum!) The recipe is flexible so you can easily adjust the spice to suit your taste buds, or even use maple syrup to make them vegan. Disclosure: Homestead and Chill is reader-supported. When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission. Truth be told, our early attempts at making homemade cough drops didn’t turn out great since most recipes we found online included pretty vague instructions. So, we experimented with tips for making honey hard candy instead – which greatly helped improve and shape our homemade cough drop recipe! Benefits of Homemade Cough Drops Thick and viscous, honey coats the throat to naturally suppress coughs and soothe pain or irritation associated with sore throats. Honey is also highly antimicrobial, helping to support the immune system and ward off pathogens. Ginger is a warming, delicious, antioxidant-rich herb that can help relax and open airways, clear mucus from the lungs, ease congestion, and reduce coughing and sore throats. Ginger offers anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and immune-supporting properties – and is also wonderful for digestion or an upset stomach! Loaded with vitamin C, studies show lemon juice can help to shorten the duration (and reduce the severity) of colds and flus. Lemon juice is also antibacterial and can fight inflammation, ease respiratory congestion, and calm sore throats. According to renowned herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, cinnamon is a potent, powerful, well- researched medicine. Because of it’s warming and stimulating properties, cinnamon is used to boost vitality, improve circulation, and clear congestion. It also has impressive antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties, and is known to help stabilize blood sugar levels. DISCLAIMER: Homemade cough drops are made to help to alleviate symptoms, not cure illness. Be sure to rest, eat well, drink lots of water, and follow your doctor’s advice. RELATED: Looking for more ways to naturally support your immune system? Don’t miss our elderberry syrup recipe, homemade elderberry gummies, easy fire cider recipe, or fermented garlic honey! Supplies medium sauce pan candy molds (optional) or simply add small spoonfuls onto parchment paper. These heart-shaped silicone candy molds make the perfect size homemade cough drops! a spatula a candy thermometer (optional but recommended) waxed paper for wrapping Ingredients The recipe below will make about 15 to 20 homemade cough drops, though we often double it. 1/2 cup honey. You can also substitute with maple syrup to make your homemade cough drops vegan. 3 Tbsp lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, orange juice, or other acidic liquid. I love to use our homegrown Meyer lemons, which have a delicious hint of sweetness to them! 1 to 1.5 tsp fresh grated ginger (or 1/2 tsp ground ginger powder). We like ours extra gingery so we use the higher end. 1/4 to 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon Optional but recommended: powdered sugar, vitamin C powder, arrowroot powder, cornstarch, or ground cinnamon to coat the cough drops at the end, to reduce sticking in storage. Instructions Get all of your supplies ready (e.g. candy molds or parchment-lined plate or baking sheet) before starting; you’ll need to work quickly to pour the cough drop mixture once it’s cooked! In a medium saucepan, whisk the lemon juice and honey together until they’re thoroughly combined, and then stir in the ginger and cinnamon. Heat the pot over medium-high heat, stirring with a spatula. Once it foams up, turn off the heat and stir the foam back into the mixture – which will become more opaque and creamy increase of clear. (continued below) Instructions continued… Turn the heat on to medium-high again. Cook and stir almost continuously with a spatula until it reaches the “hard crack” point at 300°F. Be careful not to overcook and burn it! It will bubble and foam again at first, but then the foam will settle as it thickens after a few minutes. (When we made a double batch it took about 10 minutes to reach hard crack, though timing can vary. At minute 7 to 8 ours was still slightly foamy, but became significantly more thick, gelatinous, shiny, and darker in color – almost there!) If you don’t have a candy thermometer, use these visual cues to recognize the hard crack stage: when the mixture can’t help but bubble up (can’t be stirred down), when it coats the back of a spoon, or if it forms into a ball when you drop a small spoonful into a cup of ice water. You can also stop cooking before it reaches 300°F, though the finished homemade cough drops will be more soft and taffy-like. Wait only a minute to to let it cool off the heat before carefully spooning the cough drop mixture into candy molds or small dollops onto parchment paper. Otherwise, it will quickly begin to stiffen in the pan and become increasingly sticky and difficult to work with! Finally, allow your homemade cough drops to fully cool and harden before coating (optional) and wrapping for storage, explained below. Optional Coating Once they’re fully cooled and hardened, you may want to toss your cough drops in an edible powder of choice to help prevent them from being so sticky in storage (though I found they end up absorbing some of the powder and are quite sticky still, even after coating). Good natural cough drop coating options include: cinnamon, arrowroot powder (aka tapioca powder), powdered sugar, organic cornstarch, or even a little vitamin C powder to make them extra medicinal. I put a little arrowroot powder in a bowl (what we had on hand) and gently tossed each cough drop in it before wrapping them. Wrapping Homemade Cough Drops Finally, individually wrap each homemade cough drop in little twists of waxed paper, taffy style. After experimenting with several methods, I’ve found this is the best way to store them to prevent them from sticking together – and makes it easy to pop a cough drop in your mouth without even having to touch it! I also tried layering the cough drops between pieces of waxed paper (like we store our homemade elderberry gummies, shown below) but they still stuck quite a bit and were difficult to peel up when I wanted one. Storage and Shelf Life Once wrapped, you can store your homemade cough drops in the pantry or refrigerator. For the best results, store them in an air tight container with a lid in a cool, dark, dry location. Thanks to the honey and lemon juice, homemade cough drops are shelf-stable and will stay good at room temperature for at least one month, or up to several months or longer. However, they tend to get more gooey if your home is warm or humid, so storing them in the fridge can help further extend their shelf life as well as maintain better structure. When it’s time to enjoy them – suck, don’t chew! These honey cough drops can be quite hard and sticky on your teeth. And just like hard candy, use caution and your best judgement on giving these to kiddos. In an effort to save time and paper, I tried to store one batch this way (stacked and layered between pieces of waxed paper in an air tight container with a lid) but they still were quite sticky and difficult to get out later. NOT recommended! Well friends, I hope you enjoy making your own natural, yummy homemade cough drops too – and feel better soon! If you try this recipe, please do us solid and leave a review below. Cat Leads Woman to Tiny Kittens She Hid in a Large Bin, Showing Her Trust in the Cutest Way

A cat led a woman to the kittens she had hidden in a large bin, showing her trust in the cutest way. Sayah and her kittensChatonsOrphelinsMontrealA few months ago, Vanessa, a volunteer with Chatons Orphelins Montreal, noticed a black-and-white cat wandering around her neighborhood. The cat often passed through her yard and others nearby, but no one came to claim her. "One evening, she saw the cat meowing in the alley, walking up to people for attention. She looked malnourished, but her round belly suggested she might be pregnant," the rescue shared with Love Meow. When Vanessa tried to approach, the cat darted into hiding, but Vanessa wasn't about to give up. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealFor several days, the cat disappeared. Vanessa searched the alley but found no sign of her. Then one day, while walking her own cat on a leash near her home, she came face to face with the black-and-white stray once again.Even though Vanessa's own cat hissed at her, the stray lingered nearby, as if quietly pleading for help. Vanessa quickly brought her cat home and returned with food and a carrier. She led Vanessa to her kittens hidden in a recycling bin inside a shedChatonsOrphelinsMontreal"Fortunately, the cat was waiting for her, like she knew the woman would come back for her."Starving, the cat devoured the food and even allowed Vanessa to pet her. That's when Vanessa realized the cat was a nursing mom, and that there were kittens out there depending on her. "It was absolutely crucial to find the babies before bringing the mother to safety." ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealRelieved and grateful, the cat leaned into Vanessa, soaking up every bit of affection. It was clear she had been abandoned and left to survive on the streets. As the cat padded down the alley, Vanessa followed close behind. The cat led her through a courtyard and toward a small wooden shed, then hopped into a green recycling bin with a blue bucket inside. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealNeighbors gathered to help, clearing out the shed and lifting the bin. Inside, they found two tiny kittens curled up at the bottom of the bucket and two more tucked beneath a few items in the bin.The four kittens, about 10 days old, were alive and well. Their brave mother had led Vanessa straight to them. ChatonsOrphelinsMontrealThat night, the family of five slept on a clean, warm bed in a safe home. The mother cat, named Sayah, had a full belly for the first time in a long while. "This was probably her first litter (and it will be her last) as she was barely a year old."Sayah and her kittens settled into a foster home, where she immediately claimed a drawer as her throne. ChatonsOrphelinsMontreal"At first, the kittens needed supplemental bottle-feeding. But with unlimited access to food, Sayah regained her strength and soon produced enough milk to feed all four of her babies."Day by day, the kittens grew bigger and stronger, and their personalities began to shine. ChatonsOrphelinsMontreal"Astro, the little tabby boy, is the boldest. Billie, the short-haired tabby girl, is the cuddliest. Saturnin, the tuxedo boy, is the baby of the group. And Dahlia, the long-haired tabby girl, is the most curious."Together, they filled their foster home with joyful chaos and happy, squeaky meows. ChatonsOrphelinsMontreal"These kittens are the lucky ones," the rescue shared. "Their mother showed the rescuer exactly where she had hidden them so the whole family could be saved."Now, Sayah and her kittens have a bright future ahead of them and the good life they deserve.
