This Radio Colour Image Is A New Way To Explore The Milky Way

Astronomers from the International Centre of Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) in Australia have created a stunning new radio colour image of the Milky Way. By mapping different radio frequencies to RGB colours, the image reveals large-scale astrophysical phenomena and gives researchers a new tool to understand the lifecycle of stars.

Glock Pistols & The Matthew Henry Study Bible

I can hear the outbursts: What in the world do Glock pistols and a study Bible have to do with each other? Stay with me. Both the Glock pistol and Matthew Henry Study Bible were at the very top of their respective fields. They had no peers. I know. I know. All the “gun guys” …

WATCH: A Young Koe Wetzel Cover Jason Aldean’s “The Truth” In 2010

That East Texas twang hits different. Maybe we can hope that we get a cover of this tune on his promised classic country record. Koe Wetzel has been leaning heavily into his Texas rocker sound with his recent releases “Werewolf” and “Surrounded.” Wetzel is definitely building off the sound he established on his last LP, 9 Lives, which rips, but fans are still hoping that we get his promised traditional country record one of these days. Earlier this year, we asked Koe about that promise he made to make a traditional country music record when he turned 30. Like many of his faithful followers, we haven’t forgotten about that social media post that promised the traditional country project. Wetzel hasn’t either, but he thinks he might let the traditional country record come to him rather than force it just because he drunkenly posted about it one time: “I think I was really drunk when I posted that to Twitter. Not like me to be drunk posting on Twitter, but yeah, I don’t know. I really, truly want to make a traditional country record. But I feel like when I’m ready for that time, it’s gonna come. And I don’t want to force it. You’ve got so many badass traditional country artists right now. You’ve got Zach Top. Post Malone has made some great stuff. You’ve got all these people that are making great traditional country music. I’m gonna let them handle it right now and then maybe I’ll come in later on.” @whiskeyriff @Koe Wetzel’s still planning on releasing a traditional country record one day. // Listen to the latest episode of Whiskey Riff Raff on Spotify, YouTube, or Apple Podcasts. #whiskeyriff #whiskeyriffraff #koewetzel #traditionalcountrymusic ♬ original sound – Whiskey Riff While we can still hold out hope that that day is coming sooner rather than later, it appears that Wetzel is focused on his new music at this time, disclosing that he has not one but TWO records in the works. And based on the singles we have gotten thus far, it sounds like these next projects will seamlessly grow off the sound and tone established on 9 Lives, which was a massive hit among fans and led Koe Wetzel to earn his first number one single with “High Road.” However, when that day comes, Wetzel wants to revisit his traditional country roots; many of his fans hope he covers one song… Jason Aldean’s “The Truth.” This is not the only classic country tune from the 2010s by Wetzel that is worth watching. There’s the awesome video of him covering Randy Rogers Band’s “Steal You Away” at a regional FFA competition in 2011, but I always go back to his cover of “The Truth.” Sitting by a pool table with his buddies in what I’m assuming is someone’s basement, Koe put down a killer of Aldean’s 2010 hit (remember when he put out good music? Those were the days). “The Truth” was written by the late Brett James along with Ashley Monroe, and was originally recorded by Trent Willmon for his 2008 album Broken In before being released by Aldean on his 2009 album Wide Open. It became Aldean’s fourth #1 song in February 2010, spending two weeks at the top of the charts and finishing the year as the #32 country song of 2010. The song has had a resurgence since Brett James tragically passed with his wife and stepdaughter in a plane crash earlier this fall, and it has also had a revival on TikTok, making Koe’s rendition a fitting one to revisit at this time. The vocals are very different from the gritty tone we know from Wetzel today, but the silky smooth twangs he lays down fit his voice so well. Wetzel delivers the lyrics effortlessly, and even in a room with subpar acoustics and folks chatting in the background, he still sounds great. Things we love: This. Dolly Parton Wrote “Coat Of Many Colors” On The Back Of Porter Wagoner’s Dry Cleaning Receipt For One Of His Famous Coats

Dolly Parton Wrote “Coat Of Many Colors” On The Back Of Porter Wagoner’s Dry Cleaning Receipt For One Of His Famous Coats

One of the most iconic country songs of all time. We’ve all heard Dolly Parton’s “Coat Of Many Colors” countless times, but the full story behind it is equally as powerful as he brilliant lyrics and storytelling in the words. Dolly’s mom famously sewed the coat together with rags people gave Dolly’s family, and as she worked, her mother told her children the story of Joseph in the Bible, as he had his own Coat of Many Colors which was given to him by his father Jacob and a very significant part of his story. Dolly previously said that she absolutely loved it, but when she wore it to school, some of her friends were not so kind about it and laughed at it, which was a memory engrained in her mind forever: “When she made that coat, she told me that story about Joseph in the Bible. And, boy, I thought I would just really look just like Joseph, and I was so proud of it and wore it to school. And the kids all laughed and said it was just rags, and I didn’t look like Joseph and that we’re poor and all that. Of course, they were poor too, but I guess we were poorer. But anyway, I remember crying so hard and hurting and was even hurt at Mama ’cause I felt like she’d kind of deceived me somehow. But kids always remember things like that – your first deep hurt.” It’s true, but little did she know at the time, it would become a massively important piece of her iconic career… The coat and meaning behind it taught Dolly to be proud of and thankful for what she had, even if it meant nothing to anyone else, which is a lesson that has carried her through life in so many ways: “And oh, I couldn’t understand itFor I felt I was richAnd I told ’em of the loveMy momma sewed in every stitchAnd I told ’em all the storyMomma told me while she sewedAnd how my coat of many colorsWas worth more than all their clothes” A solo write by Dolly, “Coat of Many Colors” was released in September 1971 as the second single and title track to her Coat of Many Colors album. It peaked at #4 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart later that year. She actually got the idea and initially penned the track in 1969 while traveling with Porter Wagoner on a tour bus, but ironically, she had to write it on the back of a dry cleaning receipt from one of his famous one-of-a-kind coats because she had no other paper on the bus. Once the song became a huge hit, he of course had that receipt framed, as she explained in her 1994 memoir, My Life and Other Unfinished Business. I always love reflecting on how it came to be, because one of the things I love most about Dolly is how much she values the toughness of her life as a child and how she’s remained that same salt of the earth country girl even through success beyond her wildest dreams. She is a global icon and one of the most beloved musicians of all-time, but she’s still that girl from east Tennessee… who can afford any coat she could ever want and then some now. Here’s one of my favorite performances she did of “Coat Of Many Colors” back in 1971: “Coat of Many Colors” The post Dolly Parton Wrote “Coat Of Many Colors” On The Back Of Porter Wagoner’s Dry Cleaning Receipt For One Of His Famous Coats first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
