Baahubali: RRR Director’s Fantasy Epic Gets Remastered Theatrical Release and New Trailer

News Baahubali: The Epic Baahubali: RRR Director’s Fantasy Epic Gets Remastered Theatrical Release and New Trailer “For the tenth anniversary, I didn’t just want to re-release what audiences had already seen. I wanted to create a new experience.” By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on August 26, 2025 Screenshot: Variance Films Comment 0 Share New Share Screenshot: Variance Films SS Rajamouli, the writer-director behind the epic masterpiece, RRR, is re-releasing his also-epic two-part fantasy feature as one film to celebrate its tenth anniversary. The films in question are 2015’s Baahubali: The Beginning and 2017’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Rajamouli has re-edited and remastered the films into one feature with the new title Baahubali: The Epic. It will release worldwide this fall as a nearly four-hour cut that includes a ten-minute intermission. The features are what Rajamouli was best known for before RRR. They come from scripts written by his father, V. Vijayendra Prasad, and, according to Entertainment Weekly, “combines tales told by the father to the son, along with elements from ancient Hindu texts that had long fascinated the director.” The official synopsis of the project is almost as long as the Baahubali films, but here’s the need-to-know information: When a lost prince is rescued and raised in exile, he grows up unaware of his past. Years later, he returns to uncover the truth about his father’s murder and his mother’s imprisonment, and must rise to reclaim his place as the rightful king. “Both Baahubali films were always imagined as one story, but it was too vast to fit into a single film, which is why we told it in two parts,” Rajamouli told EW. “For the tenth anniversary, I didn’t just want to re-release what audiences had already seen. I wanted to create a new experience.” The movie includes “a few new surprises” as well, though Rajamouli said the editing process was challenging. “Editing the combined runtime of 5 hours and 27 minutes into one seamless version was perhaps the hardest part of this journey,” Rajamouli told EW. “We went through intense debates and even heated arguments about what to keep and what to remove. Every scene and song in Baahubali is precious to me, so making those choices was never easy, but some sacrifices had to be made.” Baahubali: The Epic premieres worldwide in theaters on October 31, 2025. Dorothy, a Contemporary “Music-Infused YA Retelling” of The Wizard of Oz, Is in the Works

News Dorothy Dorothy, a Contemporary “Music-Infused YA Retelling” of The Wizard of Oz, Is in the Works The project is in development at Prime Video. By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on August 26, 2025 Screenshot: Warner Bros. Comment 0 Share New Share Screenshot: Warner Bros. If you click your heels together three times, you’ll get a television series version of The Wizard of Oz. According to Deadline, a new show inspired by The Wizard of Oz titled Dorothy in development at Prime Video. It comes from Gina Matthews, a producer of projects like 2004’s 13 Going on 30, and 2000’s What Women Want, and has Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Lee Metzger, Grant Scharbo, and Patrick Moran on as non-writing executive producers. The television show takes place in our times, and will be a “music-infused YA retelling.” It’s unclear whether musicians Stefani and Shelton will provide music for this music-infused project, but odds seem good that at least some of their existing songs, if not new ones, will be heard given their involvement and the emphasis on their “non-writing” status. Deadline also reports that the show will use “the Yellow Brick Road as a metaphor for the challenges and choices facing young adults today.” Deep. “I’ve been in love with The Wizard of Oz books since I was a child,” Matthews told Deadline in a statement. “The story reminds us of the qualities we need to get through hard times, and Dorothy is a symbol of strength who shows us that with a little kindness—and a lot of grit—we can not only achieve great things but also lift up those around us. I’m excited to bring that message to the world, now more than ever.” This isn’t the only recent Wizard of Oz news: the Sphere in Las Vegas controversially “updated” the iconic 1939 film, to mixed reactions. Dorothy is still in its early days, so no news on casting, much less if/when the show will make it to filming and beyond. Cincinnati Mayor Receives ‘No Confidence’ Vote from Fraternal Order of Police

Cincinnati’s local response for an attack that occurred one month ago continues to have negative consequences for Democrat Mayor Aftab Pureval, as he received a unanimous vote of “no confidence” Monday night from the local Fraternal Order of Police. This comes as the viral mob attack and Pureval’s lackluster response garnered local, state, and federal level attention. Cory Bowman, who is running against Pureval as a Republican in this year’s mayoral race, shared the fraternal order’s statement. Monday night the Cincinnati FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) Queen City Lodge #69 issued the following statement:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEAugust 25, 2025 CINCINNATI FOP UNANIMOUSLY VOTES NO CONFIDENCE IN MAYOR AFTAB PUREVAL CINCINNATI, OH – Tonight, the Cincinnati Fraternal…— Cory Bowman (@corymbowman) August 26, 2025 “The discussion before the vote at the [Fraternal Order of Police]’s meeting on Monday night covered a large number of grievances the FOP has with the Mayor. Among them were: The mayor’s inability to address situations quickly, demonstrated by his three-day delay in commenting on the Elm Street riot, leaving officers and the community in limbo. The administration’s public comments and eventual order to the city solicitor to force police to charge a felonious assault victim with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, solely to appease racial tensions at the urging of a few community leaders,” the announcement said. “FOP members have a complete lack of faith in the mayor’s ability to fix pressing issues or lead the city effectively moving forward. Deciding to push politics into the justice system is unforgivable.” The statement not only addressed the attack and local responses, but also overall concerns when it comes to the mayor and “a series of leadership failures over the past month that have undermined public safety, police operations, and community trust.” “The vote reflects deep concerns among FOP members about the mayor’s inability to effectively address critical issues facing the city and its law enforcement officers,” the statement mentioned early on. In response to the “no confidence” vote, Pureval provided a statement for WLWT: “This is disappointing to hear, and I don’t believe it reflects the work we’ve done in collaboration with our officers. We’ve had the backs of law enforcement, without fail, every step of the way since taking office,” Pureval said. “We’ve increased police funding to address staffing challenges faced by cities across the nation, we’ve supported requests for new lateral classes and additional resources, and I have further funding increases in the pipeline as we speak,” his statement continued. “I have been proud to stand with our officers at every turn as they make sacrifices to protect residents. All of us have a common goal: the health and safety of those we serve. This is a time to work together and continue improving safety in our city. We will not be letting up on that work, and we will not be letting up on our investments in law enforcement to make Cincinnati as safe as possible. I look forward to continuing to support all of our officers.” Bowman also posted concerns about police officers, including issues with “extremely low morale.” A video he shared earlier this week shows people on ATVs and dirt bikes accosting officers and appearing not to face any consequences. People riding dirtbikes and ATVs openly taunt police in Cincinnati, as there are no consequences for lawlessness in our city. Leadership instructs officers not to pursue, leading to extremely low morale among our officers. pic.twitter.com/hTx39bhDFq— Cory Bowman (@corymbowman) August 24, 2025 Local radio station 700WLW, meanwhile, highlighted rising crime statistics and a decline in Cincinnati Police Department officers. Cincinnati police officers say the neglect of Mayor @AftabPureval has left @CincyPD down 143 officers and they no longer have confidence that he can lead the city. At the same time, violent crime continues to rise across Cincinnati. Up 9% over the last 28 days pic.twitter.com/eiGJxxhBDi— 700WLW (@700wlw) August 26, 2025 The Daily Signal reached out to the mayor’s office for further comment. The announcement closes with the concern the Fraternal Order of Police chapter has with city consultant Iris Roley. “The mayor’s failure to condemn or largely even comment on the actions of Iris Roley, even in direct contact with FOP leadership. While he claims he disagrees with her behavior, he refuses to acknowledge that an individual on a lucrative city contract—likely exceeding six figures—should be accountable to anyone,” it concluded. The Daily Signal also reached out to the Fraternal Order of Police local chapter. Earlier this month, the local chapter spoke out against Roley’s interference with police officers, with President Ken Kober supporting a petition against her. City Manager Sheryl Long shared a statement with The Daily Signal indicating that she was “reviewing the alleged incidents,” referencing Roley “interfering with police who are in the act of performing their lawful duties.” Eight suspects have so far been charged in connection with the mob attack, and two have been charged at the federal level as well. Fox News reported on new federal drug charges against one suspect, Jermaine Mathews.   Mathews “becomes the second of eight people who have been arrested in connection with the beating to be charged federally. In both cases, the federal charges are unrelated to the alleged assault.” Montanez Merriweather faces a federal charge for illegally having a gun as a convicted felon. The Cincinnati attack may have consequences for years to come. Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, has visited the city twice this month and is demanding crime reduction goals and objectives be put in place for 2030 “so that the community can hold all of us accountable.” .
