Los Angeles Woman Goes Viral For Incredible Luke Combs Halloween Costume

Yeah… she wins. We are a little over halfway through October, which means everyone is scrambling to find a Halloween costume for the parties they’ve been invited to. Of course, there are always the basic costumes that never miss, like being a witch, a ghost, or a zombie. However, there are plenty of other low-lift costumes that can be fan favorites at the function. Dressing up as a famous person is always a good option for Halloween, and in the country music space specifically, there are plenty of famous faces that are easily recognizable, making for a great costume option. From Dolly Parton to Hank Williams Jr., many folks reach into the list of classic country artists to dress up as. And one that never fails to get old is those who dress up as Alan Jackson from his “Chattahoochee” music video. This woman took the costume up a notch, dressing as Alan Jackson mid-water ski and converting her electric scooter to complete the look… It’s awesome. @amyhicks942 finally finsijed my halloween costume. its gonna be hotter than a hoochie coochie this year. Alan Jackson #alanjackson #halloween #halloweencostume #diycostume #halloween2025 ♬ original sound – Hippie Gypsy However, one Los Angeles woman is dressing up as a modern-day country star, and it’s truly incredible. The creator, Kathy Aguiar, has gone viral, gaining over 1 million views in 48 hours with her unconventional pick of an artist. And it’s not unconventional because it’s an obscure choice, but because often women dress as women, so I’m expecting to see a recreation of Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, or even Reba as I’m watching this video. But no… she picked an elite choice and revealed her costume as Luke Combs. Aguiar made a transition video revealing her costume while lip-syncing to Combs’ “One Number Away,” revealing her costume that is uncannily similar to Combs’s real-life appearance. She sports a classic Luke Combs PFG black fishing shirt, glued on a fake beard with a similar auburn hue to Combs’ facial hair, and slapped on a Luke Combs hat, sealing the look of the costume. Check it out: @kathyyaguiar You guys can keep your Lorax and pitbull costumes I found something better @Luke Combs @Luke Combs HQ . . . . #lukecombs #lukecombsmusic #lukecombsconcert #linedance #linedancing ♬ original sound – Jersey Jones The transition is flawless, and it’s hilariously accurate, and it did not take long for fans to react, sharing how much they loved this costume: “Close enough. You do birthday parties?” “Luka Honeycombs.” “This is Luke Combs’ real private account, I just can’t prove it yet.” “The reveal hit me like a hurricane!” “Haters will say this ain’t the real Luke Combs.” “Close enough. You do Weddings?” “We got Luke at home.” “THIS SONG. THIS COSTUME. 10/10! No notes.” “Can you do a tour we can all afford?” Just for fun, check out another video she made while in costume… I love funny people like this. @kathyyaguiar And I didn’t win . . . . . @Luke Combs @Luke Combs HQ #lukecombs #lukecombsmusic #lukecombsconcert #lukecombstour #lukecombslookalike ♬ original sound – kylie <3 The post Los Angeles Woman Goes Viral For Incredible Luke Combs Halloween Costume first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Johnny Cash Claimed The Ghost Of Roy Orbison Told Him To “Go Back” During Open Heart Surgery: “I Know I Died… Everything Stood Still”

‘Tis the season for spooky… and more than a few country artists have shared their own run-ins with potential ghosts or spirits. With Halloween coming up this month, it’s always fun to get in the spirit and I love reading about stories like this, as long as it’s not too scary… I’m good. And the one Johnny Cash recalled from when he was under the knife in 1988 is fascinating. Back in 1988, the country icon underwent a double-bypass heart surgery, and the procedure was performed after a routine physical revealed he had two arteries that were 90% obstructed. In a news article from the time, which was shared on the official Roy Orbison Facebook page, Cash explained that he had been “saved” from the grave by the ghost of another music legend, Roy Orbison. Cash and Orbison worked together frequently throughout their careers and were lifelong friends. In fact, Cash was instrumental in helping Orbison get a record deal with Sun Records, and they remained close until Orbison’s passing in 1988. Cash’s surgery occurred merely weeks after Orbison died, and as he recalled later, he “died” on the operating table during the surgery, but felt a “spirit” beside him during that exact moment: “It was like a wind. That’s the best way to describe it. And then it spoke to me. It said: ‘You can’t go yet Johnny. You’ve still got a lot of singing and living to do.’ I’d recognize that voice anywhere. It was my old buddy Roy Orbison.” Cash explained that Roy told him to “go back” because it was not his time to go yet: “Go back John. It’s not your time yet, pal.” After being released from Nashville Baptist a couple weeks after the surgery, Cash doubled down on the fact he knew he died, and he recalled how he felt like he was floating over his body, watching the surgeons try to save him below: “I know I died. It was as if everything stood still and I could feel myself floating. I could see the surgeons working frantically to save me. And I also knew it was too late. There was nothing more they could do.” Indeed, the hospital confirmed that emergency procedures were employed to revive Cash, and in reality, it “only last a few moments,” though they say “everything was under control” the whole time: “The emergency lasted only a few moments, but long enough to be identified and dealt with. Everything was under control.” Another member of the operating staff said if it would have last any longer, Johnny would not have made it, but he ultimately “came back on his own” and lived to tell this tale: “If it had continued like that for a few more moments, we would have lost him… but then Johnny came back on his own.” Whether you believe it was the spirit of his friend Roy Orbison encouraging his friend in a life or death situation, who himself had passed away from a heart attack at just 52-years-old, or just the heavy meds Cash was on for such a complex surgery, it no doubt inspired Cash following such an intense surgery and gave him great peace and comfort about life after death. This is one of the more interesting celebrity ghost encounters, if you will, I’ve heard, and it’s actually really not all that scary at all… my kind of ghost story. Of course, I have to leave you with this vintage performance they did together of “Oh, Pretty Woman” back on The Johnny Cash Show in 1969. It’s just timeless: The post Johnny Cash Claimed The Ghost Of Roy Orbison Told Him To “Go Back” During Open Heart Surgery: “I Know I Died… Everything Stood Still” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Ella Langley Debuts Another New Song, “I Gotta Quit,” At The Listening Room In Nashville

Another one. It’s been a year full of ups and downs for Ella Langley. Riding the highs of the continued success of “you look like you love me” and hungover, the Alabama native has continued her path to superstardom over the past 12 months, notably taking home five ACM Awards this past April and leading all artists with 6 CMA Award nominations at the upcoming ceremony in November. With that being said, however, she hit a major road bump towards the end of the summer when she had to cancel a month’s worth of shows due to ongoing health issues. Now that she’s fully healthy and back on the road once again, fans everywhere are more than ready to not only see her back on stage but to hear new music from the “weren’t for the wind” singer after the massive success of her sophomore effort, hungover. And judging by the volume of unreleased songs she’s been teasing lately, it looks like she’s gearing up for the release of her third record, one that has been in the works for a year and a half, sooner rather than later. A few weeks ago, during her performance at the Live At The Station Festival in College Station, Texas, Langley dropped the bomb that fans can expect one or two new tracks before the end of the year. Before performing her highly anticipated unreleased song, “Choosin’ Texas,” she said: “There will be maybe one or two off of it this year. This might or might not be the next one… or the first one, I guess.” Flash forward to last week at her sold-out set in Durant, Oklahoma, at Choctaw Music Fest last week, and she confirmed that not only is “Choosin’ Texas” going to be the lead single off of her upcoming album, it’s coming out this Friday, October 17th. Now that the cat’s out of the bag with “Choosin’ Texas,” Langley has decided to tease fans once again with another brand new, unreleased song, titled “I Gotta Quit” at a surprise appearance at The Listening Room in Nashville last night. In the midst of playing a set featuring the aforementioned “Choosin’ Texas,” as well as “Strangers” with Kameron Marlowe and “you look like you love me” with co-writer, Aaron Raitiere, she also debuted “I Gotta Quit.” And it looks like another hit for the rising star. Centering around trying to quit thinking about an ex, the track is an uptempo toe-tapper that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser whenever she debuts the song with a full backing band. Clearly a tongue-in-cheek take on a breakup, Langley laments how she sees her ex in everything in the melodic chorus. “Everywhere I go, everything I seeEven in my dreams, it’s haunting meTell me what I gotta say, tell me what I gotta doDamn it, I gotta quit thinking about you” Overall, “I Gotta Quit” is simply one of those songs that can’t help but make you laugh. I think it goes without saying that everyone has told themselves at one point or another to simply stop giving their ex the time of day, and she captures it perfectly here with her signature charm and delivery, coupled with some hilarious, almost Tyler Childers-esque adlibs on the bridge. It’s a fairly surface-level song lyrically, but that’s all it has to be. As of now, “I Gotta Quit” has no release date. However, judging by Langley’s earlier comments, there’s a chance that it might find its way on streaming services before the end of the year. For now, we’ll just have to wait. CMA Awards 1972: Loretta Lynn Delivers A Hilariously Iconic Speech After Becoming The First Women To Win Entertainer Of The Year

A true trailblazer in every sense. The late, great Loretta Lynn was a Country Music Hall of Famer, Grammy winner, and winner of just about every music award imaginable. She released dozens of hit songs, and some of the most important albums in country music history, however, perhaps her largest impact on the country music world was from her willingness to push the boundaries of songwriting and storytelling in country music. Loretta made an entire career out of saying what no one else would in terms of what it’s really like to be a woman and the real life issues that come with it. She had plenty of songs banned from mainstream country radio back in the day because of that, including some of her most recognizable songs, like “The Pill” and “Rated X”. She famously said: “To make it in this business, you either have to be first, great or different, and I was the first to ever go into Nashville, singin’ it like the women lived it.” And she was one of the very few who did that, and could back it up… Long before Loretta was even starting to think about pursuing a music career, she was a wife and a mom, working her fingers to the bone every day cleaning her house, doing laundry and cooking, but not in the way we think of it today: “Before I was singing, I cleaned house; I took in laundry; I picked berries. I worked seven days a week. I was a housewife and mother for 15 years before I was an entertainer. And it wasn’t like being a housewife today. It was doing hand laundry on a board and cooking on an old coal stove. I grew a garden and canned what I grew. That’s what’s real. I know how to survive.” A quality that would serve her well over the years, even after she left that life behind in her home in Kentucky. These experiences shaped her into a salt of the earth, real women who not only knew that people want to hear real, honest songs that speak to their lives and experiences, but from someone who had also lived them herself. Clearly, it was something Loretta understood better than just about anybody, and thankfully, she was never afraid to express that regardless of what any manager, radio station, or label had to say to the contrary. And in 1972, Loretta became the first woman to be nominated and win Entertainer of the Year at the CMA awards, and on this day in 1972 as well, Loretta became the first woman to win the CMA Entertainer of the Year award. Since then, only seven other women have gone onto win that award, including Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks, Taylor Swift, and Lainey Wilson: “On this day in 1972, Loretta became the first woman to win the CMA Entertainer of the Year award! During her career, she won a total of 8 CMA Awards, but it was this award that cemented her role as a trailblazer for women in country music.  Sevenother women have won the CMA Entertainer of the Year award since Loretta did. She would love seeing so many talented women in country music today!” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Loretta Lynn (@lorettalynnofficial) That is an incredible accomplishment, something no one deserved more than Loretta, but even during her acceptance speech, she was the down home, charming women who never forgot her humble beginnings and where she came from. Minnie Pearl announced the winner, and clearly was very excited for her friend during such a historical moment, but Loretta kept it light and funny when she told the crowd that she was really happy, but a little bit sad because her husband, Doolittle, couldn’t be there because he was… hunting: “I’d like to say that I’ve won a lot of awards and this is one that I have been nominated for, but I never did get. This, I think, is the only one that I haven’t gotten. I’m real happy, but the only thing I’m kind of sad about is my husband is going hunting. He couldn’t make it back in to share my happiness with me. Thank you.” Just classic. Though they had a tumultuous marriage at times, I’m sure many of you know what a huge role Doo played in Loretta ever having any sort of country music career, as it was him who first encouraged her to even think about making it a professional endeavor. It was Doo who bought Loretta her first guitar, and he traveled with her to promote her first single “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl,” visiting radio stations to secure airplay. Without him, Loretta has said many time she would have never pursued music, and might have never even performed in front of anyone. He was instrumental to her career and success (no pun intended, but I like it), so I’m sure she was disappointed he couldn’t be there that night, though Loretta obviously had a sense of humor about it and kept it short and sweet… hopefully Doo didn’t miss this big moment for his wife just to come back empty-handed. Though Loretta never won the award again, she was nominated in the category every year from 1971 to 1975, and remains one of, if not the most, iconic figures to ever do it in country music. And if you’ve never seen the speech before, it’s an all-time great one: The post CMA Awards 1972: Loretta Lynn Delivers A Hilariously Iconic Speech After Becoming The First Women To Win Entertainer Of The Year first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
