When Silence Becomes Complicity: The Media’s Moral Void on AI and Erotic Content

This is an opinion from the Center. Every week now, it feels like artificial intelligence unveils a new breakthrough. As a millennial, I’ve watched technology evolve from flip phones to ChatGPT, and I’ll admit, it’s been nothing short of incredible. My boyhood sci-fi dreams come true almost daily. We truly live in an amazing age.But I’m not blind to the darker side of progress. In a recent press briefing, after the death of Charlie Kirk, Utah Governor Spencer Cox warned that social media is a “cancer”, urging Americans to step away, touch grass, and reconnect with real human relationships. He’s right. Technology has made our lives easier, but it’s also eating away at our attention, our empathy, and maybe even our morality.AI tools like ChatGPT have become part of my daily life, replacing Google for quick information and simplifying monotonous tasks. But recently, OpenAI’s announcement that ChatGPT will begin including erotic content starting in December has sparked widespread unea…

Prince Andrew being investigated for allegedly asking bodyguard to get accuser’s personal information: report

Prince Andrew is reportedly being investigated by the Metropolitan Police for allegedly asking one of his taxpayer-funded personal protection officers to obtain personal information about Virginia Giuffre, who previously accused the royal of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager. On Oct. 19, The Mail on Sunday published leaked emails suggesting Andrew, 65, passed Giuffre’s date of birth and her Social Security number to his bodyguard and suggested she might have a criminal record in the U.S.

In memoir, Virginia Giuffre accuses father of abusing her, suggests he took money from Epstein

Virginia Roberts Giuffre, an outspoken accuser of Jeffrey Epstein, alleged that her own father had abused her and suggested that he took hush money from Epstein in a posthumous memoir releasing Tuesday. Giuffre, 41, had been working on the book with a co-author before she died by suicide in April. In the memoir, she alleges that other men had abused her before she was groomed by Epstein at age 16. She alleges that her experience with abuse began as early as 7 by her father. Her father denied the allegation, insisting that he never abused his daughter. And in a statement in the memoir, her father said he “never knew what was going on with Epstein” until he saw the news online.

What we learned from Virginia Giuffre's memoir

Much of Virginia Giuffre's story has been heard before but in her memoir, published posthumously, the abuse is described in appalling detail. Two days ahead of the book's official publication, the BBC got hold of a copy. There are revelations about Ms Giuffre's encounters with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell - as well as more details of her allegations about Prince Andrew, which he has always denied. Here's what we learned from the 367-page-long book.

No Kings? No Clue

What do you do when voters have rejected your party's policies and the losers have nothing new to offer? Answer: You stage large demonstrations that include name calling (this from Democrats who have called for "lowering" the rhetorical temperature). Anyone who believes last Saturday's "No Kings" (was that poll tested?) demonstrations across the country were not organized and largely paid for by left-wing groups hasn't been paying attention. The New York Times claims there is "no evidence" that the event was subsidized by billionaire George Soros and other far-left people and organizations. That's because the underwriting isn't given directly but is filtered – like the Mafia used to launder money – through groups that wipe clean the donor's fingerprints.

Trump vs. Democrats: Who Is Winning the Government Shutdown?

As the federal shutdown drags into its third week, both Democrats and Republicans insist they are holding the upper hand. But with flights delayed, food aid at risk and federal workers going unpaid, Americans seem to be growing more fed up with everyone involved. Polls show the blame is nearly split. A new AP-NORC survey found that 60 percent of Americans say President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans are largely responsible for the shutdown — but 54 percent say the same of congressional Democrats. The overlap reflects a broader mood: many voters blame both parties. Majorities of Democrats, Republicans and independents all agree: this standoff is a problem, and it’s getting worse. Shutdown With No Clear End Poses New Economic Threat

The economic effect of past government shutdowns has been straightforward. The economy loses some activity for a few weeks, then gains it back after the government reopens. The net cost is basically zero. This time, the math may not be so benign. As Washington’s stalemate continues into its fourth week with no end in sight, it’s looking like this could become one of America’s longest funding lapses. During the previous record-holder, a 34-day closure in 2018, Congress passed enough appropriations bills to keep more of the government funded. This time, none have been passed.

Thune pivots to federal worker pay as latest shutdown trial balloon

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), navigating the fourth week of a government shutdown, is not out of play calls yet as he dares Democrats to oppose a bill paying certain federal workers later this week. The legislation, expected to receive a vote on Wednesday or Thursday, amounts to a trial balloon meant to test Democrats’ commitment to the healthcare demands at the center of the shutdown fight.

Exclusive: Wide-ranging group of US officials pursues Trump's fight against ‘Deep State’

A group of dozens of officials from across the federal government, including U.S. intelligence officers, has been helping to steer President Donald Trump's drive for retribution against his perceived enemies, according to government records and a source familiar with the effort. The Interagency Weaponization Working Group, which has been meeting since at least May, has drawn officials from the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Justice and Defense Departments, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Communications Commission, among other agencies, two of the documents show.

‘I Don’t Like You’: Trump Tells Off Ambassador To His Face In Tense White House Moment

President Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Monday announced a deal on rare earth minerals as China tightens control over its own supply. But the day was not without some awkward and downright tense moments. Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd ― who once called Trump a “village idiot,” among other things ― is now the ambassador to the United States and was also in the room.
