Easy Seafood Paella

This Easy Seafood Paella recipe is my shortcut to bold, authentic flavor without the traditional hassle. No mortar and pestle, no specialty paella pan – just one big skillet and dinner’s on. This Easy Seafood Paella proves you don’t need fancy tools or hours in the kitchen. In This Article Video: watch us make this RecipeWhy This Recipe Stands OutKey Recipe IngredientsSubstitutions And VariationsStep-By-Step Recipe InstructionsHow To Prep AheadWhat To Serve With Easy Seafood PAellaEasy Seafood Paella RecipeCommonly Asked QuestionsMore to Cook And Eat View more This post may contain affiliate links, at no additional cost to you. Video: watch us make this Recipe Why This Recipe Stands Out This Easy Seafood Paella is my answer to a stunning, flavor-packed dinner without the long prep. It’s simple, bold, and always gets rave reviews. Here’s why it works: No Paella Pan Needed: No paella pan, no pounding pastes – just one big skillet and layers of smoky, savory flavor. It’s every bit as satisfying as this Grilled Red Snapper but way easier to pull off on a weeknight. Seafood Lovers, This One’s for You: With shrimp, mussels, clams, and tender white fish, this dish is packed with ocean flavor. If you love my Lemon Pepper Shrimp, you’ll be all in on this one. One-Pan Meal: Everything simmers in a single skillet, from the broth to the rice to the seafood – no stirring required. It’s just as practical as my Shrimp Alfredo. Made to Impress (But Totally Doable): This is one of those recipes that is restaurant-level, yet comes together without special tools. Impressive but fuss-free, like our Smoked Salmon Roll-Ups. Key Recipe Ingredients Seafood Trio (Fish, Shrimp, Shellfish) – A mix of firm white fish, shrimp, mussels, and clams makes this dish hearty and flavorful, giving you that classic seafood paella experience in every bite. Arborio Rice – We use Arborio rice for its creamy texture and ability to soak up all the rich, savory broth without getting mushy too quickly. Smoked Paprika – This is the key to paella’s signature smoky depth—don’t skip it! It infuses the dish with warm, earthy flavor. Chicken Broth & Clam Juice – A mix of chicken broth and bottled clam juice builds a layered, umami-packed cooking liquid that flavors the rice from the inside out. Tomatoes & Aromatics – Fresh tomatoes, onion, garlic, and chopped herbs bring brightness and balance to the richness of the seafood and broth. Substitutions And Variations Here are some of our favorite substitutions and variations: Seafood Swaps: Shrimp, mussels, clams, and white fish are delicious together, but this dish is very forgiving. Swap in scallops, calamari, or even crab if that’s what you’ve got. Add Peas: Sweet green peas are sometimes added to paella, and they’re a great way to bring a pop of color and a bit of freshness. Toss them in during the last few minutes of cooking. Broth Variations: Clam juice adds briny depth, but if it’s not available, use all chicken broth or seafood stock. A shrimp or lobster bouillon cube works well for boosting flavor too. Add Saffron (Optional): A pinch of saffron adds beautiful aroma and golden color. If you have it, steep a few threads in warm broth before adding to the pan. For Crispy Socarrat: Want that coveted crispy rice crust on the bottom? Let the paella cook undisturbed on low for 2–3 extra minutes at the end, just don’t stir. Step-By-Step Recipe Instructions In a pot, heat 4 cups chicken broth with clam juice, cover, and keep warm. Pat dry fish and shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and set aside. In a large heavy skillet (not non-stick), melt butter over high heat. Sauté onion and garlic for 1 minute. Add cilantro, basil, and scallions; cook for 1 more minute. Stir in smoked paprika and tomatoes. Cover and cook 3–4 minutes until tomatoes soften. Pour in hot broth mixture and bring to a boil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle rice evenly over the pan. Boil uncovered for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Smooth out rice without stirring again. Add fish over the rice, pressing it in slightly so it’s mostly submerged. Do not stir. Lower heat to a low boil and cook uncovered for 10 minutes, until most of the liquid is absorbed. Add extra broth if too dry. Arrange mussels, clams, and shrimp evenly on top, shells facing up. Cook uncovered at a low boil for 15 minutes, turning shrimp once halfway through. Turn off heat, cover with lid or foil, and let sit for 10 minutes. Discard any unopened shellfish and serve with lemon, lime, or cilantro if desired. For full list of ingredients and instructions, see recipe card below. How To Prep Ahead Take a look at our best prep-ahead strategies and recommendations for this recipe: Prep the Ingredients Ahead: You can chop the onions, garlic, tomatoes, and herbs up to 1 day in advance. Store them in separate airtight containers in the fridge. Shellfish can also be cleaned and stored chilled until ready to cook. Cook Fresh and Serve Immediately: Paella is best cooked and served the same day. The texture of Arborio rice doesn’t hold up well after refrigeration, so avoid making it fully ahead. For best flavor and texture, cook and serve right away. This Easy Seafood Paella comes together way faster than traditional versions. What To Serve With Easy Seafood PAella Seafood Starters We love starting the meal with Shrimp Ceviche – it’s light, citrusy, and a perfect prelude to a seafood-forward main like paella. It also goes great with Cioppino (Seafood Stew) if you’re planning a full-on seafood dinner party. Fresh Sides We often pair Easy Seafood Paella with a Peach Caprese Salad or Strawberry Salad with Asparagus. The fresh flavors go great with this delicious dinner idea. It also goes great with Grilled Zucchini or Garlic Herb Roasted Potatoes when we’re craving warm, hearty sides. Breads & Dips Serve this dish with some warm French Bread or Parmesan Garlic Pull-Apart Rolls – they’re great for sopping up the flavorful broth. It also goes great with a small plate of Black Bean Dip with Avocado or Avocado Salsa for something fresh and snacky. Drinks We love pairing our Easy Seafood Paella with a chilled glass of Best Sangria. It’s fruity, vibrant, and made for warm-weather meals. It also goes great with a crisp Sparkling Pomegranate Punch or a refreshing Strawberry Frosé if you’re making this for a summer gathering. Print Easy Seafood Paella You can have this Easy Seafood Paella on the table in much less time than with traditional methods, as we remove the extra steps of mortar/pestle paste-making. No need for a paella pan here. An extra-large pan or skillet will work. Cover and keep warm. Thoroughly dry the fish and shrimp with paper towels, keeping them separate. Sprinkle both with a layer of kosher salt and black pepper. Set aside and continue with recipe. In an extra large heavy skillet/pan (or cast iron pan, but NOT non-stick,) heat up the salted butter on high heat. Add the onions and garlic, cooking and stirring for 1 minute. Add the cilantro, basil, and scallions, stirring for 1 min. Add smoked paprika and tomatoes, stirring to combine well. Cover and let cook 3-4 minutes until tomatoes become soft.Pour in the hot broth/clam juice mixture. Bring to a boil. Add salt and pepper to taste – I prefer to add more seasoning rather than less, as the rice will absorb it all. Sprinkle rice over the pan. Boil for 3 minutes uncovered, stirring occasionally. Smooth out the rice.Add fish evenly over the rice. If needed, press down so that the fish is mostly submerged in liquid. Do not stir at all from here on out. Lower heat to a low boil and cook uncovered until most of the liquid is absorbed, but there is still enough to continue cooking, 10 minutes – add up to 1/4 cup extra broth if it's too dry.Add all of the shellfish evenly over the top, placing shells so that they will open face up. Cook over low boil uncovered for 15 minutes, until rice is tender and shrimp is opaque. Turn shrimp over once halfway through cooking to ensure it cooks through.Turn heat off and immediately cover with a domed lid or foil and let sit for 10 minutes. Discard any unopened shellfish. Serve immediately with wedges of lemon, lime, or cilantro as desired. Video Notes Keep in mind that the better your broth, the better the rice flavor will be. Sometimes peas are added, so feel free to use them if you like. Traditionally, a generous pinch of saffron is used in paella. If you like, add saffron threads to the dish when tomatoes are added. If your fish and shrimp release extra moisture during prep, be sure to pat them completely dry with paper towels. This helps them sear better and keeps the paella from becoming watery. We highly recommend using smoked paprika instead of regular paprika. It adds the deep, smoky flavor,  If your shellfish aren’t opening after cooking, discard them. Only fully opened mussels and clams are safe to eat and should be served. This dish is best eaten the day it’s made; Arborio rice tends to become too soft the next day, similar to what happens with risotto. This recipe is part of our Fish and Seafood Recipes Collection. Nope! This version is designed to work without one. Just use a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or cast iron pan—avoid non-stick, as it won’t develop that crispy rice bottom (called socarrat) that makes paella extra delicious. Can I add saffron to this dish? Yes! Saffron is traditional and adds a subtle floral note and rich golden color. If you have it, add a generous pinch when you add the tomatoes. But if not, smoked paprika alone still brings a ton of flavor and depth. Why can’t I stir the rice after it’s added? This helps develop the crusty bottom layer that’s signature in paella. Stirring disrupts that process and can turn the rice mushy. Once you smooth it out and add the fish, hands off! How long does the easy seafood paella recipe keep? It’s best eaten the day it’s made. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days, but expect the rice to soften significantly. If you know you’ll have extra, consider storing the seafood and rice separately to reheat more gently. James Comey’s DISGUSTING Link To The Abortion Pill – “Are You For 86?”

Earlier today, we broke the news that James Comey posted “8647” on Instagram. In case you don’t immediately know what that means, “86” is slang for “kill” and “47” is short for the 47th President. Yeah, terrible. He almost immediately deleted the post and tried desperately to walk it back claiming he had no idea what “86” meant: UPDATE: James Comey Deletes Post, Desperately Tries To Walk Back Call For Trump To Be Assass*nated What a joke! But now thanks to a reader (Alan Dryer) who commented on that post, I want to bring you something new. This is something I didn't previously know about, so huge hat tip to Alan Dryer for this one! Did you know that the Abortion Pill has a technical name? It's called "RU-486". Get it? If that doesn't immediately jump off the page for you, let me translate:  "R (Are) U (You) 4 (For) 86 (Killing) [the baby]" Sick, right? If you want to take the abortion pill and kill your embryo, you take "RU-486": Which essentially translates to: Are You For 86? Which further translates to: Are You For Killing [the baby embryo]. How sick is that? It's ALWAYS hidden in plain sight folks, always! In fact, at this point I'd be very surprised if there WASN'T a message hidden in plain sight attached to all their agendas! Of course, ChatGPT says "nothing to see here"! Just a big wild coincidence! In the interest of fair reporting, I'll tell you how they explain it and then let you draw your own conclusions: It certainly looks like a striking coincidence: RU-486 reads phonetically as “Are you for 86,” and in slang, “86” can mean “to kill” or “to get rid of.” Given that the pill is used to terminate a pregnancy, the overlap is understandably provocative and can sound eerie or loaded, especially in emotionally or politically charged discussions. However, there is no documented evidence that the name RU-486 was intentionally chosen as a play on words. It’s well-established in pharmaceutical history that: “RU” stands for Roussel-Uclaf, the French company that developed the drug. “486” was simply the 486th compound in a numbered research series developed by their chemists. The idea that it means "Are You For 86" is more of a retrospective linguistic coincidence than a designed message—though some critics of abortion have certainly pointed out the chilling parallel. In short: Is it a coded message? Almost certainly not. Does it look like one? Yes, especially if you're primed to see patterns or puns. Is it useful rhetoric for either side? Potentially, though it's coincidental rather than conspiratorial. So...just a normal explanation and wild coincidence? Or....hidden in plain sight? What do you think? Oh, and in case you didn't realize it yet, the link to James Comey? We ALL know what "86" means. They knew it when they came up with the name "RU-486". James Comey knew it when he posted "8647". Stop playing games and stop playing dumb. We know.

#1 Largest Meatpackers, Accused of Human Trafficking, Ready for NY Stock Exchange Debut

Billionaire Batista brothers, the heads of JBS, finally cleared SEC hurdles. JBS is the world’s largest meatpacker and are now poised for a New York Stock Exchange debut as early as May 23. They have a decade of scandals under their belt. They even went to jail for bribing 1,800 Brazilian politicians campaign cash. Now they want to flood our market with cheap, poor quality meat so they can profit from it while our health pays the price. This foreign owned giant could soon control your U.S. meat supply if someone doesn’t intervene. JBS: Despite A History Of Bribery And Corruption, JBS, The World’s Largest Meat Packager, Prepares To Go Public https://t.co/jDDsNCPSYl — Vladimir Aras (@VladimirAras) May 14, 2025 Forbes reports: Joesley and Wesley Batista, the billionaire brothers behind JBS, went to jail after paying off more than 1,800 politicians in their native Brazil and have struggled to launch a public offering in the U.S. After a decade-long beef with the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as bipartisan opposition in Congress, JBS, the world’s largest meatpacker, was finally given the green light in late April to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The U.S. listing of the Brazil-based JBS has been delayed several times over the past decade due to a deluge of scandals involving the top shareholders and their holding company—including bribes to Brazilian meat inspectors, kickbacks to government financiers and illegal campaign contributions to more than 1,800 Brazilian politicians. That is in addition to accusations in the U.S. of JBS and companies it owns price-fixing, wage-manipulating and violating child labor laws, plus allegations of discrimination and harassment. Joesley and Wesley Batista, 53 and 52 respectively, are the company’s largest shareholders through their holding company J&F Investimentos. The brothers, whom Forbes estimates are worth $4.8 billion each, have also been personally charged with foreign corruption in the U.S. as well as insider trading allegations in Brazil (related to the timing of the news of their bribery scheme) that saw them briefly jailed for about six months from 2017 to 2018. Any one of those issues would have ended most other companies’ prospects of going public on the American market, but following the SEC’s recent decision, JBS is looking to offer shares on the New York Stock Exchange in June, pending a shareholder vote later this month. “This time it looks like it’s for real,” says Carlos Laboy, a managing director who heads up Latin American food coverage including JBS at HSBC, which is not involved in the listing. Over the past two decades, the Batista brothers have turned their family’s South American meat business into a goliath with more than $77 billion in annual revenue with a presence in nearly every country in the world. Its major U.S. brands include Swift, Pilgrim’s Pride, Primo, Blue Ribbon and Certified Angus Beef. But given the mountain of scandals, U.S. politicians from both sides of the aisle have long been opposed to the company going public in America. Just last year, at 15 senators—including Republicans Josh Hawley of Missouri and John Barrasso of Wyoming as well as Democrats Cory Booker of New Jersey, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts—denounced a potential IPO. For years, former Florida Senator Marco Rubio, now Secretary of State, was one of JBS’ loudest critics. In 2019 Rubio requested an investigation by a Treasury Department committee into JBS’s acquisitions, and in 2021, he renewed the ask and broadened it to the approximately 250 meat and agribusiness companies owned by the Batista family’s holding company J&F Investimentos. The Treasury Department declined to comment. Wall Street Apes posts: This is extremely important As early as May 23rd it will be decided if JBS, the largest meat packer in the world, will be allowed to trade on the New York Stock Exchange This is a foreign owned company that has captured and controls our meat supply It gets worse: “If there is one company that should never be allowed on the New York Stock Exchange, it’s JBS, and here’s why. In case you don’t know, JBS is the largest meatpacking company in the world. And as recent as last September in my home state of Colorado, they have been brought up on some pretty serious allegations by the union leader for human trafficking. They’ve also been found guilty of corruption charges as well, and they’ve served time. The Batista brothers who own JBS, they are Brazilian. This is a completely foreign owned company. Here’s some of the recent allegations that they’re facing of cramming between 40 and 50 people in a apartment to live, charging them between $60 and $120 bucks a week per head to live there, then charging them $40 or $50 bucks to go to and from work and it’s a 5 mile trip. These guys are convicted criminals charged with bribery in America and Brazil. — They’re having a meeting May 23rd or as early as May 23rd to decide whether or not JBS gets to be on the New York Stock Exchange. Please share this video. We got to get the word out and keep this corrupt company from owning more of your food supply than they already do. — Let’s stop JBS from getting on the New York Stock Exchange.” All this ganging up on JBS is not right. They’re probably struggling financially and are just trying to make ends meet. Oh, they’re making $77 billion in revenue. This is extremely important As early as May 23rd it will be decided if JBS, the largest meat packer in the world, will be allowed to trade on the New York Stock Exchange This is a foreign owned company that has captured and controls our meat supply It gets worse: “If there is… pic.twitter.com/w1HYizi6Um — Wall Street Apes (@WallStreetApes) May 14, 2025 They also love destroying the Amazon forests. Derek Chauvin Pardon Pending? Will This Be “Summer of Love” pt 2?

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz says anything is “possible with this presidency” in reference to Derek Chauvin being pardoned. This comes as rumors are growing that a pardon is coming, as soon as next week. Chauvin, already convicted for George Floyd’s murder, also faces a separate federal civil rights conviction. The pardon might be close. If so, will we see some serious riots? George Floyd did die from a fentanyl overdose. If they pardon Derek Chauvin, get ready for summer of love 2.0. This time, bring the water canons. Arrest anybody who wants to riot. pic.twitter.com/UtUxSEUCuO — Sassafrass84 (@Sassafrass_84) May 14, 2025 Officers are literally trained to use their knee as Chauvin did. George Floyd died of a drug overdose. pic.twitter.com/z7a6DqQ2vh — Marjorie Taylor Greene (@mtgreenee) May 14, 2025 People reports: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is addressing rumors that Derek Chauvin, the former police officer convicted of killing George Floyd, will receive a presidential pardon for his separate federal conviction of violating Floyd’s civil rights. Speculation has been growing recently about President Donald Trump possibly pardoning Chauvin, though the president denied those rumors in March, telling reporters, “No, I haven’t even heard about it,” the Minnesota Star Tribune reported. Walz told reporters this week that, while he does not believe a pardon is imminent, it is possible “with this presidency.” “So, no indication whether they’re going to do it or not, but I think it behooves us to be prepared for it. With this presidency, it seems like that might be something they would do,” he said, per the Tribune and KTTC. Walz, who was the Democratic nominee for vice president in the 2024 presidential election, noted that if Chauvin’s federal conviction is pardoned, he will still have to serve the remainder of his 22-and-a-half-year state prison sentence. Minneapolis Community Safety Commissioner Toddrick Barnette echoed Walz’s sentiment about Chauvin remaining behind bars even if he does get pardoned and addressed possible civil unrest, the Tribune reported. Local ABC News adds: Sources also said the city of Minneapolis is almost certain that next week, the U.S. Department of Justice will file a petition with the court to end the consent decree over reform at MPD. If that happens, sources said the city would file a brief challenging the DOJ’s filing, and it could then take up to six weeks to get a ruling from the judge. In this clip we see Saint Floyd drop what looks to be a packet of white powder. Derek Chauvin did not kill George Floyd; Floyd died of a drug overdose and was preparing to use more drugs when police arrived. Watch Floyd discard drugs during his arrest. Bizarre: Decapitated Dolphin Head Found On North Carolina Island

Wildlife authorities in North Carolina have reported that a decapitated dolphin was discovered on Lea-Hutaff Island. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries’ law enforcement office stated the dolphin was initially found on the island intact. Days later, when members of the marine mammal stranding team from the University of North Carolina Wilmington arrived on the island to evaluate the dolphin, they discovered its head was cut off. The office stated, “This animal was intentionally decapitated, a violation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act. The remote location where the dolphin was found adds to the difficulty of investigating this incident and cause of death.” Authorities are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who decapitated the dolphin. A dolphin was found in North Carolina with its head missing. NOAA’s Office of Law Enforcement is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information on who might have been involved. The 8ft-long dolphin was initially found, intact, on Lea-Hutaff Island in the state by a member of the public. When staff from the marine mammal stranding team from the University of North Carolina Wilmington arrived a few days later to investigate, they found the animal’s head had been removed. “This animal was intentionally decapitated, a violation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act. The remote location where the dolphin was found adds to the difficulty of investigating this incident and cause of death,” said the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries’ office of law enforcement in a statement. It added that an initial health assessment of the dolphin showed the animal was likely carrying Brucella, a bacteria that causes the infectious disease brucellosis and can be passed on to humans through direct contact. Anyone convicted of mutilating the dolphin could face a fine of up to $100,000 and up to a year in jail. Lea-Hutaff Island is a remote and undeveloped barrier island north of the city of Wilmington and is only accessible by boat. The island is a haven for turtles, as well as shorebirds, wading birds, waterfowl and marsh birds during their nesting, migration and wintering seasons. Hampstead, NC pic.twitter.com/ki2X8z9Xyu — Citizen (@CitizenApp) May 15, 2025 Per NOAA: NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement is investigating the death and decapitation of a dead bottlenose dolphin on Lea-Hutaff Island. We are asking the public for any information about who may have been involved. We are offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to a criminal conviction or the assessment of a civil penalty. A member of the public originally reported the stranding of a dead dolphin on Lea Island, near marker 105, to the Southeast Marine Mammal Stranding Hotline on April 15. The area is a remote, undeveloped barrier island north of Wilmington, North Carolina, only accessible by boat. When our stranding network partner, University of North Carolina at Wilmington, went to the reported location, the 8-foot dolphin had been intentionally mutilated and its head removed. They determined that someone intentionally removed its head between April 16 and April 18, after they received the initial stranding report. Based on their initial health assessment of the dolphin, the University suspects the animal is carrying Brucella, a bacteria that causes the infectious bacterial disease brucellosis. The disease can be transferred to humans through direct contact. Our stranding network partner performed a necropsy (animal autopsy) and complete results and cause of death are pending.
