A favorite game the media continue to play is “Guess the Party”, wherein a lack of a mention of partisan affiliation is regarded as proof evident that the persona is a Democrat. The latest instance of such reporting comes via Univision, on their midday newscast. Watch as anchor Carolina Sarassa dutifully plays “Guess the Party:      NOTICIERO UNIVISION EDICIÓN DIGITAL 5/15/28 CAROLINA SARASSA: Meanwhile, a video that has gone viral on social media shows various legislators in this manner- well, falling asleep in a hearing that ran over 12 and up to 20 hours. One of them, Republican Congressman Blake Moore of Utah, who was awakened by a colleague when it came time to vote. They called him and he finally woke up. Likewise, Representative Debbie Dingell was caught sleeping at another night hearing, although she said she wasn’t sleeping, she was simply concentrating with her eyes closed. When it came time to talk about the Republican Sarassa described the state he as s and reported that Rep. Moore had to be woken up when it was time to vote during a marathon Ways and Means meeting that spilled into Wednesday morning. Over at the Energy and Commerce Committee, the hearing also ran long, which is where Rep. Dingell found herself falling into a deep slumber. Dingell drew no partisan descriptor from Sarassa. And rather than disclosing some other embarrassing element of the evening, like being awakened for a vote, Sarassa just repeated Dingell’s statement about not being asleep but concentrating with her eyes closed.  A lot has changed but, as shown here by Sarassa, we still find ourselves on occasion playing “Guess the Party” with the media.
