Folks on 'left' and 'right' share one thing they respect about one another. It's giving hope.

The United States feels on edge right now, with passions running high and partisanized rhetoric ramping up in the days following Charlie Kirk's assassination in Utah. For non-extremists, it's disheartening to see people on both "the left" and "the right" being painted in sweeping brush strokes filled with vitriol. Most of us don't live like this in our everyday lives. Most of us don't live at extremes and are capable of nuanced thought. We acknowledge that the world's problems are complex and know that we aren't always going to agree on every solution. While we may disagree, sometimes vehemently, we don't paint half of our fellow Americans as the enemy. Political polarization is out of control. It doesn't have to be this way. Photo credit: Canva A woman in Utah, Ashley Rankin, was feeling overwhelmed and confused about the state of the country when she decided to make a video plea for compassion and understanding. "While recording, I zoned out for a second and my face perfectly captured how I felt in that moment," she tells Upworthy. "I dropped the words and thought, rather than telling people to spread love, hope, and compassion, I want to see what they will do, when presented with the opportunity."So she overlayed her few-second video with "If you lean left, tell me something you respect about the right. If you lean right, tell me something you respect about the left," adding, "Let's spread hope." She asked viewers to fill her comments with positivity, and in a miraculous flip of the script we so often see online, people delivered exactly what she asked for. @gynamite_ Please fill my comments with positivity! I live in Utah and things feel heavy here. #bridgingthedivide #HopeInHumanity #BetterTogether #UtahCommunity #positive The comments filled up with people leaning one way or the other—sometimes even pretty far to the left or right—expressing their respect and admiration for various characteristics and beliefs of the "other side." It's truly a beautiful outpouring that demonstrates how much closer we are than we think:"I am conservative, but I appreciate the left's fight for free lunches and universal healthcare. I don't believe anyone should starve or be denied medical care because they can't afford it.""Left here: I respect how the right heavily advocates for the farm and rural communities. We really do need to send more resources out to them and respect our farmers more.""Lean right - love the passion of the left and how they always want to speak up for the smallest person in the room." "Straight blue voter here. I do appreciate the conservative principle of fiscal responsibility for the govt. We may disagree how our tax dollars are spent, but I don’t disagree that govt is wasteful." Season 19 Episode 10 GIF by The Simpsons Giphy "More conservative, but I love how the left advocates for preserving our earth, mental health, and resources for those who NEED them.""As a Democrat I appreciate republicans patriotism and love for country and support for our troops and veterans. I just wish their representatives would vote to support those things that most of their constituents want to support.""I’m more right than left, but I respect the left for their belief that you don’t have to be a traditional family to have family values. I actually agree with that.""Leftist here ?? I live in a deeply conservative, rural area. Whenever I’m in need, there’s help. Fresh baked bread randomly, the mechanic giving me free advice/discounts, fresh farm eggs cheaper than the store?""I’m mostly conservative. I appreciated the level of anger and ongoing fight regarding the undoing of roe v wade.""Extremely left here, I appreciate how fiercely the right stands up for the working people; farmers, etc. I also am with them on getting violent criminals off the streets." People on the right tend to support rural life.Photo credit: Canva"I’m conservative. I do truly respect that the people on the left wanting gun control have good hearts and genuinely want the gun violence to end.""Dear Left-leaning people, Thank you for your fight for immigration rights. I may not 100% agree with how we get there, but, everyone deserves the right to come into the country and to have a chance for a better life.""By far the BEST comment section I've ever seen. I lean left heavily but I've always admired how persistent Republicans are at pushing legislation and the change they want to see."Perhaps surprisingly, perhaps not, there was a ton of love for John McCain and Barack Obama coming from opposite sides of the aisle in the comments."My family was always conservative, but everyone voted for Obama twice. Sometimes we have to accept that labels are for soup cans and vote for the person better qualified to lead.""I’m a lifelong Democrat. I really loved John McCain! I thought he was such a well-rounded example of a true American patriot!""I lean more right, but Obama was the last president I felt like we all respected.""I don’t 'lean' left: I am left. However, I think John McCain also conducted himself with so much integrity. I think he tried to do a good job and actually cared about the people in this country." - YouTube www.youtube.com "I am very Liberal and Canadian BUT when John McCain defended Obama against Muslim/ Arab attacks at his town halls…. I literally cried.""I lean right, but I think the last time we had any dignity in politics, and I felt secure as a nation was when President Obama was in office. I think he’s an incredible leader, and he was the last time I trusted the person in power.""I respect how John McCain stood up for Obama at one of his rallies and how he silenced the boos during his concession speech. Truly miss that kind of politics. Where we could disagree on issues but didn’t tear other down."Mostly, though, people were just relieved and delighted to see how genuinely kind and heartfelt the comments were. "This comment section glued a tiny piece of my heart back together.""These comments are not what I expected to see. It gives me hope that we are not as divided as politicians and media wants us to believe.""Reading all these comments makes me realize that we should be fighting extremists (both left and right) instead of each other.""This is the most mature comment section I’ve seen. This is the dialogue I want to see. It’s easy to speak to each other when we do it in a respectful way rather than resorting to name-calling and oppressing others."We really do have more in common than the online discourse and political rhetoric from many politicians would have us believe. Social media algorithms may reward extremism, but videos like this and the responses they're receiving are far more indicative of the reality most of us live in. Rankin's video has accumulated over 10,000 comments and they are overwhelmingly positive."I posted the short video hoping a few people would have genuine and respectful words, but was not expecting much," Rankin says. "I had NO idea the impact it would have on me and so many others. The comments were exactly what my weary heart needed. I'm finally proud to be an American again."

Trump is making a deal with China, tariff money is coming in and all he needs is to get the rates lowered, this is why he needs control over the Fed. Panic. The [DS] is ready to unleash Antifa onto the streets. Trump is now prepositioning the NG troops in each city, they will only be there to protect federal buildings or assist Ice, but they will be there when needed. Trump is now saying that certain left wing groups are being investigated, most likely Antifa is one of them. When the riots begin, Antifa will be designated as a terrorist group. Game over.   Economy   Klaus Schwab and the WEF are no longer hiding their game. In his own words, he reveals the true strategy: never let a good crisis go to waste. He admits that "climate change" is the primary lever, but the goal is far broader. It's about exploiting the public's fear and… pic.twitter.com/QgvTwdrBmN — Camus (@newstart_2024) September 15, 2025   and “sensitivity” to fundamentally “reshape” our entire society. What “deficiencies” does he want to correct? He names them: a “lack of inclusion” and a system that isn’t “fair.” This is the language of radical, top-down social restructuring. The pandemic, he boasts, was a useful tool to increase this “new alertness” — a wake-up call they intend to answer on our behalf. This isn’t about the environment. It’s about power. It’s about using the pretext of a climate emergency to dismantle and rebuild our economies, our social contracts, and our very way of life according to their utopian, technocratic vision. They believe they can engineer a “better” life for us, whether we want it or not. This is the Great Reset, stated plainly. It’s the culmination of their belief that you must be guided to your own salvation.   The ‘Gold Standard’ of Jobs Data Is Broken—And America Is Paying the Price   here’s something incredibly wrong at BLS, and for the sake of our economy, it’s time to fix it.From March 2024 to March 2025—a period mostly covering the final year of the Biden administration—BLS overestimated job numbers by 911,000. In other words, for that period, the nation added a stunning 911,000 fewer jobs than were originally reported, the largest such error on record.Let that sink in. But it’s a lot worse than that. Over the last three years, the BLS has overcounted nearly 3 million jobs that didn’t exist. These aren’t random errors when every revision skews in the same direction. Even more troubling, the BLS numbers released last week pointed in opposite directions. One survey showed 22,000 jobs created while the other suggested nearly 300,000. Which is it?By relying on faulty data and skewed reporting methods, BLS essentially invented millions of jobs that weren’t there. That flawed data was then used by the Biden administration and the legacy media to promote a job market that didn’t exist, instead of reporting the weak jobs’ recovery. Policymakers throughout the government rely on BLS data to shape decisions on taxes, spending and monetary policies. Americans across the country rely on BLS data to judge how elected officials’ decisions affect their daily lives and the issues that matter to them, meaning flawed data could change the outcomes of our elections. Most of the period covered in this week’s report took place in the waning days of President Joe Biden’s tenure. For his last year in office, BLS job numbers were off by more than 50%.That overestimation came during a highly contentious election focused largely on the economy and centered on issues like jobs and inflation. Flawed BLS data painted a far better picture of Biden’s economy than reality—potentially pushing some voters to favor him (and later, Kamala Harris) over Donald Trump. Source: dailysignal.com   This is historic: Newly released data shows that US household net worth jumped by +$7.1 TRILLION in Q2 2025 alone. In other words, for 3-straight months, US households added an average of +$79 BILLION in net worth PER DAY. What just happened? Let us explain. For example, Shipbuilding, where we used to build a Ship a day and now, we barely build a Ship a year. I don’t want to frighten off or disincentivize Investment into America by outside Countries or Companies. We welcome them, we welcome their employees, and we are willing to proudly say we will learn from them, and do even better than them at their own “game,” sometime into the not too distant future! The SEC considered shifting public companies from quarterly to semi-annual financial reporting in late 2018, primarily in response to a public suggestion from then-President Donald Trump, who argued it would reduce costs, provide greater flexibility, and allow corporate leaders to focus on long-term growth rather than short-term earnings pressures. Trump’s August 2018 tweet specifically asked the SEC to study the idea after conversations with business leaders, citing examples like China’s purported longer-term management horizons as a competitive advantage. In December 2018, the SEC issued a formal request for public comment on the topic, soliciting input on the nature, timing, and frequency of periodic disclosures, including potential overlaps between mandatory Form 10-Q filings and voluntary earnings releases. The agency’s stated goals were to explore ways to ease administrative burdens on issuers (especially smaller companies), promote capital formation, and address concerns about “short-termism”—the idea that frequent quarterly reporting encourages excessive focus on immediate results at the expense of sustainable strategies—while maintaining investor protections and market trnsparency. The SEC also drew on experiences from other jurisdictions, such as the European Union and UK, which had reduced or eliminated quarterly reporting requirements to cut compliance costs and foster long-term investment thinking. Ultimately, after reviewing comments (which showed mixed support, with some stakeholders worried about reduced transparency and potential increases in information asymmetry or insider trading risks), the SEC did not implement any changes and retained the quarterly reporting mandate. The New York Times (of all places) just *destroyed* Lisa Cook’s “loan estimate” defense. “The records do not resolve the mystery.” “The disclosures do not appear to be legal documents.” “They do not prove that Ms. Cook was transparent.” Good work @colbyLsmith https://t.co/EBGNXHhGjx pic.twitter.com/larTX3vIcX — James Fishback (@j_fishback) September 14, 2025 1. Violations related to supporting or encouraging violence against civilians (including assassinations) often fall under these provisions: Article 134 (General Article): Covers “all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline” or conduct that discredits the armed forces. Expressing support for killing Americans could qualify if it undermines unit cohesion, public trust, or the military’s nonpartisan role. This is a catch-all for behaviors not explicitly listed elsewhere, and it’s commonly used for speech-related issues like social media posts celebrating violence.  Maximum punishment can include dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of pay, and confinement. Article 115 (Communicating Threats): Prohibits wrongfully communicating a threat to injure or kill someone, including through words or actions. If a service member’s statement implies endorsement or encouragement of assassination (e.g., “I’m all for it” in a way that could incite others), it might cross into this territory, even if not a direct threat.  Punishment can include up to 3 years confinement. Article 80 (Attempts) or Article 82 (Solicitation): If the expression goes beyond mere opinion and involves attempting to commit or soliciting others to engage in murder/assassination, these apply. Solicitation includes encouraging or advising someone to commit an offense like murder.  Article 94 (Mutiny or Sedition): Covers intent to usurp or override lawful military authority, which could extend to seditious speech advocating violence against citizens if it promotes disloyalty or rebellion. Courts-martial for such offenses require proof of intent and context, but even non-criminal administrative actions (e.g., reprimands, loss of security clearance, or separation) are common outcomes. DoD Policies on Extremism and Threats  DoD Instruction 1325.06 (Handling Protest, Extremist, and Criminal Gang Activities): Explicitly prohibits “advocating or engaging in the use or threat of unlawful force or violence in support of extremist activities.” Extremism is defined broadly to include ideologies that promote violence, discrimination, or overthrow of the government. Supporting assassination of civilians (e.g., being “happy about it” in a public post) could be flagged if it aligns with extremist views, such as targeting groups based on politics or religion  Active participation (e.g., joining groups that advocate such violence) is banned, but even passive support like social media likes or comments can lead to scrutiny. 2021 Secretary of Defense Memo on Countering Extremist Activities: Directs screening, training, and reporting on extremist threats within the ranks. It notes that “participating in extremist activities” violates the oath of office, and commands must investigate reports of such behavior. This includes “insider threats” where personnel might endorse violence against Americans.   All branches monitor for signs of radicalization, including expressions of joy over political assassinations, which could indicate a risk of future violence. For instance, the Air Force recently launched an investigation into a senior master sergeant for “cheering the assassination of an American citizen,” citing potential oath violations.  In practice, the military’s response depends on context: A private conversation might be overlooked, but public statements (e.g., on social media) often result in swift action due to optics and policy. Service members are trained annually on these rules, and violations can end careers, especially if they impact security clearances or unit morale.  Protesters sung the song written on the bullet casings which killed Charlie Kirk at the vigil mourning his death tonight at NYU. So how can anyone not on the inside ever believe anything they ever say and how many things over the past couple of decades have they lied to us about? The Smith-Mundt Act needs to be completely removed and a new law prohibiting lies and propaganda to be used against the American people needs to be put into law. Sen. Mike Lee to File Bombshell Legislation to Crush Deep State Propaganda Machine – Restores Smith-Mundt as the ‘Charlie Kirk Act’ Utah Senator Mike Lee announced he will soon introduce groundbreaking legislation to restore the original protections of the Smith-Mundt Act—and he’s renaming it the “Charlie Kirk Act” in honor of the conservative leader assassinated just days ago. This marks one of the most aggressive steps yet to dismantle the Deep State’s stranglehold on information flow in America. Passed in 1948, the Smith–Mundt Act (officially the United States Information and Educational Exchange Act) allowed the U.S. government to conduct foreign propaganda campaigns, radio, film, exchanges, cultural outreach, aimed at influencing foreign populations during the Cold War. But the law contained one critical safeguard: propaganda made for foreign audiences was forbidden from being used inside the United States. Washington could not psy-op its own people. This firewall stood for more than six decades. In 2012, tucked into the National Defense Authorization Act for FY2013, Congress passed the Smith–Mundt Modernization Act, introduced by Representative Mac Thornberry (R-TX) and signed by Barack Obama on January 2, 2013. It shredded the firewall and legalized domestic distribution of State Department and U.S. Agency for Global Media (formerly Broadcasting Board of Governors) materials. By July 2, 2013, it was official: U.S. citizens could now be subjected to the same government-crafted propaganda once reserved for foreigners.   Source: thegatewaypundit.com The Smith–Mundt Act prohibited disseminating gov produced info inside the US because of concerns that gov agencies would propagandize Americans. Then take into account the ANTIFA phrases carved onto the bullet casings calling Charlie a “fascist” and “Bella ciao”, I think it’s safe to assume Robinson had some ANTIFA influence. If we find out ANTIFA, or one of these other Left-wing Soros-funded groups are involved with coordinating this attack, Charlie’s assassination could serve as the catalyst to declare the entire Soros network as a terrorist organization.   "Left-wing violence doesn't happen, most violence is right-wing!" The device was determined to be real and had reportedly been lit but failed to function as designed, according to the Salt Lake City Police. Due to the nature of the incident, jurisdiction was assumed by the FBI’s Field Office in Salt Lake City, with the devices being traced back to two suspects at a residence in Magna, located on the 2700 South block of 8500 West. On Saturday, the FBI served a federal search warrant at the residence with the help of local authorities’ bomb squads to ensure that the residence was cleared of any explosive devices. Both suspects were found at the residence and arrested, with squad members clearing the home finding two hoax weapons of mass destruction inside, along with two firearms, bomb making equipment, and illegal narcotics. The suspects were arrested on two counts of weapon of mass destruction – manufacture/possess/sell/use, a first-degree felony; attempted aggravated arson, a first-degree felony; four counts of explosive/chemical/incendiary – possessing parts, second and third-degree felonies; and two counts of threat of terrorism – use of weapon/hoax mass destruction, a second-degree felony. pic.twitter.com/2y9O3gPJLg — Stephen King (@StephenKing) September 14, 2025 Mass immigration to Japan will destroy Japan — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 14, 2025 DOGE Geopolitical The TikTok deal proves Trump’s trade strategy works—chaotic headlines first, results after. Macron, along with other Western leaders, has repeatedly claimed that Russia launched its military operation against Ukraine in 2022 without provocation and has insisted that Moscow is solely responsible for the conflict. However, speaking during a foreign policy debate with the Italian daily il Fatto Quotidiano, Sachs recalled that when Macron awarded him the Legion of Honor in May 2022, the French leader privately told him “exactly the opposite of what he says publicly” and admitted that “NATO was causing this war.” “I just want everyone to know this,” Sachs said, adding that he is “disgusted” by the French president. Sachs further condemned Western European leaders, describing them as warmongers who “just want to go to war.” Source: rt.com False. If I allowed this to happen, CRIME would come roaring back. To the people and businesses of Washington, D.C., DON’T WORRY, I AM WITH YOU, AND WON’T ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. I’ll call a National Emergency, and Federalize, if necessary!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!! President DJT No, Trump does not need Congress to keep the National Guard in Washington, D.C., after 30 days. As commander in chief of the D.C. National Guard (which operates differently from state National Guards due to D.C.’s federal status), the president has broad statutory authority to deploy and maintain it without specified time limits under relevant D.C. Code provisions, such as § 49-103 (for aiding law enforcement during riots or threats) and § 49-102 (for other duties as deemed proper).  This contrasts with the president’s control over D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department, which is capped at 30 days under the 1973 Home Rule Act unless extended by a congressional joint resolution.   Voting blue isn’t a personality pick, it’s unleashing a wrecking crew on America. It’s not governance; it’s deliberate demolition. Choose wisely, or watch it all burn. — Nick Short ‎‎ (@PoliticalShort) September 14, 2025    Republicans want the Government to OPEN.
