“I’m Looking For That” – Ella Langley Reveals What Kind Of Love She’s Searching For Ahead Of “Nicotine” Performance

What does love mean to you? Love looks different for everybody. Love could be as simple as sitting on the couch and laughing with a friend, or it could be a big, extravagant romantic gesture orchestrated by a lover. Love could be holding a newborn baby for the first time or going home to surprise your parents. Love is around us every single day, and right now, given the events of last week, it’s important to remember to love one another no matter how that looks. At the base of every form of love listed above is kind words and mutual respect, whether it’s a platonic or romantic love. For those reading this in a trusting, loving relationship with a partner, you know how sacred that bond is and that it’s special to share so many intimate moments with a person you care so deeply about. And love songs hit so much harder when you feel the lyrics deep in your soul, knowing they reflect the kind of love that you have for someone. For those who are embracing their single era, these songs can help you pinpoint the type of love you hope to have one day, wishing that your future lover thinks about you while hearing these poetic lyrics. Ella Langley might be in her single era, but she knows what she is looking for and shared that with the crowd in Edmonton while opening for Morgan Wallen. “Do I have anybody in love with somebody else out there tonight? Do I have anybody looking for love out there tonight? Alright, for those of you who are in love with somebody, you can sing this song to them. Good for you, we’re jealous, everyone here. If not, and you’re looking for that kind of love… To me, love is everything. It’s passionate, it’s honest, it’s hardworking. It’s forgiveness. I’m looking for that. Somebody that I just know is my person.” Langley then shared with her fans that if they feel like love is the same thing to them as it is to her, they should sing along with the words of “Nicotine” with her. @brooke.vdw she’s got such a way with words @Ella Langley #ellalangley #morganwallen ♬ original sound – Brooke “Nicotine” is a perfect song to lead into after that speech about the kind of love Langley hopes to have with someone one day. The tune comes from her 2024 project Hungover and highlights the type of fiery love that everyone wishes to share one day. It’s the craving of being close to someone and spending your days with them, supporting each other through highs and lows. “Baby, be my nicotine My lips on a buzz smoke ring Feels good under neon lights Stiff drink at the end of the night Be the thing that I crave so bad Leave me wanting just a one more drag Take my breath, make it hard to breathe The one I want, but I just don’t need Baby, be my nicotine My nicotine…” I know the lyrics of “Nicotine” strike a chord with many yearning for a deep connection and a once-in-a-lifetime kind of lover. One of these days, I’m sure that Ella Langley will find all the characteristics she listed off before performing this tune. Since returning to the stage, she’s had a few vulnerable moments like this with fans, and it’s warming to see this softer side of the Alabama native. Of course, she’s still kicking a** and taking names, but the struggles she’s shared and the desires she has resonate among fans, making her that much more relatable. Fire up “Nicotine” before you go.  The post “I’m Looking For That” – Ella Langley Reveals What Kind Of Love She’s Searching For Ahead Of “Nicotine” Performance first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

“Not A Fence In Sight!” – Brianna Chickenfry Shades Ex, Zach Bryan, Following Viral Confrontation With Gavin Adcock

I was waiting for this… By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the viral video of country star Zach Bryan jumping over a fence to confront Gavin Adcock at Born & Raised Fest in Oklahoma this past weekend. Zach was clearly riled up before taking the stage for a surprise appearance with Gabriella Rose in his home state of Oklahoma, and he was even yelling obscenities in the middle of “Madeline” about Gavin. According to Gavin, he made some comments to Gavin earlier in the day, but didn’t actually try and confront him until after he had already left and was behind the fence. He was apparently on his way home and decided to stop and have words with Adcock, jumping over a barbed wire before being held back by security. It was pretty wild… View this post on Instagram A post shared by Whiskey Riff (@whiskeyriff) The whole thing happened right before Gavin was set to go onstage for his headlining set, but after he got off, he took to social media and left several comments explaining what happened, claiming that Zach was “absolutely wasted” when he tried to fight him: “Had a headline show to play. Dude was absolutely wasted. Had to do what was good for the fans. Everybody knows how that woulda ended.” And in another comment on his own post, Gavin confirms that he didn’t want to fight Zach because he didn’t want to go to jail before his own headlining set: “Had a show to play for Oklahoma. Wasn’t going to jail over that psycho.” And he summed it up with the caption on his own TikTok post: “Dude needs help.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gavin Adcock (@gavinadcockmusic) This morning, Gavin joined Barstool Sports CEO, Dave Portnoy, for an interview about the situation and revealed that Zach tore his pants getting over the fence. Of course, Dave is Brianna Chickenfry’s boss and certainly no fan of Bryan. Gavin also explained that there were so many security guards around them that even if they wanted to fight, they wouldn’t have been able to. I don’t know if that’s true, but I have no interest in taking anyone’s side when it comes to this because I think the whole thing is so stupid: “He ripped his pants when he got over it. He got about halfway over, and his pants got caught. There was seven security guards standing around, not for only for my safety, but for his safety. And if I would’ve took off after him, or he would’ve took off after me, the security guard were just gonna grab us and hem us up and not let us do anything. Plus, I was just being the bigger man, you know. He seems, y’all like to call him the smallest man in the world, he seems, he seems to wear that f****** pretty good.” You just know Brianna is LOVING this because honestly, even though it’s kind of annoying that she won’t stop talking about Zach, things that this only make her seem much more validated in every single thing she’s said about him: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Barstool Sports (@barstoolsports) And so you know Bri couldn’t WAIT to weigh in on the fence hop too… he just set her up for the perfect opportunity to throw more shade his way, something she hasn’t missed a chance doing thus far. Today, Bri posted a video from a boat while on vacation in Portugal, drinking wine with friends and family with the song “Meet Me At Our Spot” playing in the background, along with the caption referencing Zach’s now-viral video, saying: “Not a fence in sight!” She has weighed in on pretty much everything he’s done that has made headlines since they broke up, including commenting on his new girlfriend Samantha who looks strikingly similar to Bri and could honestly be her clone… it’s insane how much they really look alike. Anyways, I think it’s safe to say Bri is glad she’s no longer with Zach because of things like this: @ihatebriannachickenfryNot a fence in sight!♬ Meet Me At Our Spot (Live) – THE ANXIETY & WILLOW & Tyler Cole Many of her supporters in the comments were obviously loving the shade, saying she clearly looks like she’s come out on top after all the drama between them in the wake of the breakup: “Bri you have the ability to do the funniest thing right now & invite Haley Larkin out for a girls night.” “His gf following behind him as he crashed out gave me the worst second hand embarrassment. Freedom looks so good on you.” “I need everyone to take note- perfect example of what to come is better than what came before. This queen escaped abuse and is now living her best life.. meanwhile.. Mr I jump fences to act tough.” “Temu Bri talking him off the edge, ‘Babe you’re not acting like yourself.'” “YOUR CAPTION ATE… IDC WHAT ANYONE SAYS!” “Not a fence or a clone around, thank goodness.” “He looked like a little Chihuahua trying to jump a baby gate.” “SHE GOT AWAAAAAYYY.” “Ok the caption is iconic.” “She’s living!! Thriving.” “This SCREAMS freedom and I love it!” “Caption… ATE.” “Loving life looks good on you.” “HAHAHHAHAA.” “I laughed so hard.” “WAR IS OVERRRR.” “I would have put that caption too… if you haven’t dated a narcissist you don’t know the SATISFACTION of watching them embarrass themselves while you’re out here living your best life. I’s lovely tbh.” “Your caption. Yessss girl. So happy for you living your best life away from Lego man.” “One thing about Zach Brian, he going to take offense.” “The grass IS greener on the other side of the barbed wire fence.” Honestly, so true…The post “Not A Fence In Sight!” – Brianna Chickenfry Shades Ex, Zach Bryan, Following Viral Confrontation With Gavin Adcock first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

A TikTok deal has finally been reached with China, the Trump administration says

A deal has been reached between the Trump administration and China to keep TikTok operational in the United States, administration officials announced Monday, concluding a yearslong effort that began during President Donald Trump’s first term. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that a framework agreement has been reached, and Trump will speak with Chinese leader Xi Jinping Friday to finalize the deal. The agreement and conversation is a precursor to a Trump-Xi meeting that both sides...

A Gen Zer used only tech from the 1990s for a week. Here's how he felt at the end.

A Gen Zer used only tech from the 1990s for a week. Here's how he felt at the end.

Those of us who are old enough to remember the '90s can recall how quickly it seemed like technology was moving at the time. Now that era seems quaint and slow in comparison, which has many people—even those who weren't alive then—yearning for those simpler times. As convenient as modern smartphones, computers, and the like are, they've added layers of complexity and noise to our lives, prompting some people to question whether it's worth it. Even young people who have grown up immersed in digital screens are taking a step back and wondering what life would be like without modern tech. Technology has come a long way. Giphy One Gen Zer, who goes by Lucky Boy, even went so far as to experiment with ditching all of his devices and only using technology from the 1990s for a week. No laptop, no iPad, no smartphone, no Kindle. No Spotify, no online gaming, no streaming movies. Just a Tamagotchi, an iMac computer (that ended up not working, forcing him to use pad of paper for his writing), a Sony Discman and CDs, books from the library, a TV/VCR combo (that also ended up not working), and a flip phone that was as close as he could get to a phone from the 90s that would still function. "One of my goals this week has been to live more life," Lucky Boy said. "I feel like people in the '90s experienced more of life, whereas me, in 2024, I spend most of my day staring at a screen. The library, for example, is an experience of life that we've sort of eliminated because now we can just go online and order a new book or download it straight to our Kindle. We lose that real-world experience of searching through shelves of books, trying to find the one you're looking for, and so if everything we do becomes digital, we're no longer living life in the real world. And so I just want to disconnect from the modern internet world and try to live more in the real world." - YouTube www.youtube.com Lucky Boy saved one piece of '90s tech for the end of the week, knowing he'd overuse it if he brought it out earlier: The Nintendo 64 with a Super Mario Bros. game included. Video games are video games, as anyone who spent hours playing Space Invaders on an Atari can attest, and Lucky Boy had a blast reliving his childhood with a lower-tech game. So, how did going a week with only '90s tech affect him? "It's honestly been a pretty good week," he said. "The lack of stimulation made the little things in life much more enjoyable. I could sit down for a meal with friends without feeling the urge to check my phone, and just sitting on a bench in nature, I was able to fully embrace the beautiful world we live in. Life has just felt simpler…I want to step back into the digital world with a little mindfulness so I can control technology before it controls me." We all need tech breaks once in a while. Giphy It's good for all of us to take breaks from our screens sometimes, but most of us probably don't consider going back to a previous era's technology to do a digital detox. Millennials and Gen Zers seem to be turning that direction, however, with a collective affinity for all things analog. Record players, Polaroid cameras, AM/FM radios, cassette players, and "dumb phones" are all the rage with younger adults, and it's rather amusing to their Gen X and boomer parents. On the one hand, the desire for slower tech and less digital overwhelm is great. On the other hand, anyone who trades in Spotify for a cassette player clearly never had to make a mixed tape from the radio while they were growing up. However, the sentiment is admirable, and it's refreshing to see young people recognizing the need to unplug and, as Lucky Boy says, "live more life" in the real world.

Jessica Chastain says going back to school and learning how to negotiate has changed her life

Oscar-winning actress Jessica Chastain, known for her roles in Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar and The Help, has decided to add a master's degree at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government to her already impressive résumé.Though she has a prestigious degree from The Julliard School, Chastain explains in an interview with E! News, "I just like to be challenged and learn and exercise my brain in a new way."Classes that have really stood out to her include "statistics" and "negotiation." Of the latter, she shares, "The thing I love most about negotiation—we had a class about resolving conflict. And right now we're at a time when it feels like no one is talking to each other. There's so much division." - YouTube www.youtube.com What she has learned from the class has been so applicable in today's times. "If you start from a place of agreement, no matter who you are, there's one thing that each party agrees on, right?" she says. "If we can start from there and give each other the benefit of the doubt that each side, each person, wants positivity for humanity."She further explains that finding commonality helps people feel empathy. "If you give each other the benefit of the doubt and start with what you have in common, I think that's the only way we can get out of this mess we're in," she says.Harvard's Katie Shonk writes about the importance of these skills. As part of the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation, she writes in "The Top 10 Negotiating Skills You Must Learn to Succeed" that "the most effective bargainers are skilled at both creating value and claiming value—that is, they both collaborate and compete."One tactic is to "build rapport," which echoes Chastain's views on finding something in common with whomever you're speaking with. Shonk shares, "You and your counterpart may be more collaborative and likely to reach an agreement if you spend even just a few minutes trying to get to know each other." A GIF from Surprised Seasons Giphy PBS Another is "active listening." Again, this is recognizing the humanity in the other party, which can lead to compassion and positivity. "Once you start discussing substance, resist the common urge to think about what you’re going to say next while your counterpart is talking," Shonk writes. "Instead, listen carefully to her arguments, then paraphrase what you believe she said to check your understanding. Acknowledge any difficult feelings, like frustration, behind the message. Not only are you likely to acquire valuable information, but the other party may mimic your exemplary listening skills."In Psychology Today's "The Advantages of Open-Minded Negotiation," Kimberly Key writes, "Research shows that having an open mindset and facilitating trust while embracing genuine interest in the other person’s point of view works best. For instance, an open mindset results in listening and increased empathy, which, in turn, help to bring a person’s defensive wall down. When trust is established, muscles relax, and people can be engaged and more present with each other." -Biggest predictor of how well a negotiation will go. www.youtube.com, Harvard Business Review Negotiating, as is often traditionally thought of, is not a war. "The negotiation-as-a-fight mentality gets reinforced through cultural conditioning and biased training," Key writes. Instead, as Chastain also eloquently suggests, come from a place of kindly relating to the other person. "Positively relating to someone—even just an exchanged smile with a stranger—has been shown to decrease stress chemicals while increasing feel-good neurochemicals and immune factors," Key writes.
