On August 28, Shohei and his pup, Decoy, hit the mound ahead of the Dodgers’ game against the Baltimore Orioles. Decoy threw out the first pitch, a first for Decoy and the MLB. Decoy took the ball and ran it in his mouth to home plate to Shohei’s hand. The dog then got on his back legs and gave his owner a high paw knowing this trick was a grand slam. It seems the first pitch was a good omen for Shohei. He ended up with a home run in the first inning and had two stolen bases later in the game. Shohei helped the Dodgers take home a win over Baltimore 6-4. The Dog’s Pitch Made Dodgers’ Fans Howl Americans love baseball, and they love dogs. It’s no surprise that this first pitch was one fans will never forget. MLB shared a video of Shohei and Decoy on X, and people went crazy in the comment section. This fan called for the Dodgers to get Decoy on the roster. “Sign that sweet baby up, pronto!
