China Has Complete Stranglehold On Essential Components For Biden’s Vaunted ‘Green Revolution’

President Joe Biden has made green energy a cornerstone of his policy agenda, investing tens of billions to promote renewable energy and electric cars. In April, the administration unveiled a plan for $20 billion in awards to foster clean energy in lower-income communities, announced a new offshore wind turbine project, and revealed $7 billion in new grants to develop solar power. However, there are some major reservations behind Biden’s full-steam-ahead approach to renewable energy — principally the concern about the fact that China almost totally controls the production of clean energy components. According to Bloomberg, China possesses more than 80% of the global manufacturing capacity for 11 clean energy components, including parts necessary for the building of solar panels and electric car batteries. It also holds a majority of the manufacturing capacity for parts necessary for the production of wind turbines. ?? – China’s share of global production capacity is now above 80% for 11 clean technologies• Massive Chinese investments mean that China's clean tech rise may not be over• Beijing also invested US$546bn in its own energy transition in 2022, around half of global financing pic.twitter.com/XWUd08RyKG — Agathe Demarais (@AgatheDemarais) April 30, 2024 By contrast, the United States controls 0% of the global manufacturing capacity for more than half of the components, and its highest capacity share is only 10% for hydrogen electrolyzers. U.S. allies like Japan, South Korea, and others in Europe also woefully lag behind China in clean tech production. China dominates the green energy supply chain, from raw materials to components to finished products. It produces 80% of the world’s solar panels, while the U.S. makes only 2%, and two-thirds of the wind turbines. Additionally, Chinese-made electric vehicles (EVs) comprise 60% of global sales. China exported $146 billion worth of EVs, lithium-ion batteries, and solar components in 2023. A single Chinese solar company, Tongwei Group, plans on expanding its facilities and aims by the end of the year to produce four times the amount of solar cells installed by the entire United States last year, The Washington Post reported. China will be the “main force leading the global energy transition,” Tongwei Chairman Liu Hanyuan told WaPo. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP China’s effort to become the preeminent manufacturer of green tech comes as the Chinese Communist Party searches for new ways to expand the nation’s economy as it remains comparatively sluggish in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Wall Street Journal noted. It has provided massive subsidies to green tech-related companies to stimulate the growth of the sector. China is also poised to control the raw materials that are used to build those green energy technologies, largely through its growing influence in Africa. As of 2022, African nations barely produced any of the world’s supply of lithium, but according to experts, Africa is sitting on a potential lithium bonanza. While Australia mined 55,000 metric tons of lithium in 2021, Zimbabwe, a landlocked nation in southern Africa, is projected to extract over 100,000 tons of lithium by 2031, according to the Financial Times. Mali, in West Africa, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in Central Africa, are also expected to become major producers of lithium while Namibia, Ghana, and Ethiopia will become moderate producers. The problem for the U.S. stems from the fact that China has been investing in these countries for years, and China owns or partially owns many of the companies that are poised to exploit the coming lithium boom. The top lithium-producing companies in both Mali and the DRC are partially owned by China, while 3 out of the 4 major lithium mining companies in Zimbabwe are entirely owned by the communist nation. Just one lithium mine in Zimbabwe, owned by a Chinese company, is estimated to hold up to 11 million metric tons of the mineral, according to CNBC. Zimbabwe banned the export of raw lithium in December 2022 to encourage domestic processing, but the three Chinese-owned companies, which have invested $678 million into lithium projects in the country and have announced plans for development projects that reach into the billions, are exempt from the regulation. Indeed, Zimbabwe has been a major beneficiary of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, a foreign investment and infrastructure policy that critics have argued is a debt trap for poorer nations. As of 2023, China has invested tens of billions in African nations, including Zimbabwe, the DRC, Mali, and Ghana — all places where mining is projected to spike in the coming years. Additionally, the DRC has a stranglehold on the mining of cobalt, another crucial mineral in the production of EV batteries, producing an estimated 70% of the world’s supply. Chinese companies also have significant control over those mines in the DRC and ones in Zambia. In 2020, China held complete or partial ownership in 15 of the 19 operating cobalt mines in the DRC, The Economist reported. Biden’s zeal to transition the U.S. away from fossil fuels has left it vulnerable to China’s control of the supply chain for green technologies. Though China’s monopoly, at least on components and finished products, is unlikely to last forever, it currently possesses a decisive advantage over every other nation on Earth that it will certainly use to its economic and strategic advantage. To compete with China’s state-sponsored green revolution, the Biden administration would have to vastly increase government subsidies for green tech initiatives and support private efforts to gain an innovation advantage over the CCP.

Can’t Move ‘Em? Paint Over ‘Em: Contractor Has Zero Patience For Campus Protests

Anti-Israel protesters at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, Ohio, tried to stand guard over a wall they had vandalized, and when they refused to stand down, the contractor hired to repaint the wall simply painted over them. The wall had been covered with red handprints and what CWRU President Eric Kaler referred to in a letter as “threatening, intimidating and antisemitic” language. Another wall was also painted by protesters, Kaler noted, saying that the language on that wall was “less threatening but still intimidating to some in our community.” In that same letter, he announced the university’s plans to paint over the walls: “The university has painted over the advocacy wall and will complete painting over the spirit wall this morning.” Kaler also acknowledged reports that students had been hit by paint as the third-party contractors went about repainting the walls — and he promised to investigate. The video, which quickly circulated on social media, showed three protesters standing in front of a wall while the contractor painted over the graffiti. When he got to where the protesters stood, he kept painting — after allowing them time to put on face shields. WATCH: Contractors hired to paint at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, Ohio decided the protesters wouldn't stop them from doing their job today pic.twitter.com/QuF6tsJnj4 — Dixie (@OSiiNT) May 7, 2024 People could be heard in the video pointing out that the protesters did not have to stand there. Campus police, standing by as the situation unfolded, stated that they had informed the protesters that they would get paint on them if they chose not to move out of the way. “We had just put up beautiful Pro-Palestinian art and at 5 a.m. Tuesday, they told them to come in and cover it up and they spray painted over two students and a passerby that were trying to guard the wall,” student JD Harrison complained to a local FOX affiliate. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Kaler later announced that he had viewed the video and said that he was “disturbed” by the way the students had been treated — and after offering his apologies, said that he planned to investigate the campus police who did not step in and stop the contractors. “Let me be clear: No students—or any individuals—should ever be treated this way, especially on a campus where our core values center on providing a safe, welcoming environment. This is not who we are as an institution, and I am deeply sorry this ever occurred,” Kaler continued. “The university will continue to fully investigate these actions and hold individuals responsible for this behavior, including the failure of our own officers to intervene.” Kaler had previously told students that their “solidarity encampment” was illegal and must be taken down and denied their demands that the university divest from any support of Israel.

Keanu Reeves And Sandra Bullock Weigh In On Pairing Up Again For A ‘Speed 3’

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock have weighed in on the possibility of the two pairing up again for a “Speed 3” movie. Reeves and Bullock recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of their high-speed 90s action thriller “Speed” by appearing on the Speed-centric podcast “50 MPH“ and answered whether they would be interested in doing another film in the franchise together — or any film for that matter. “Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera,” Bullock said. “Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers?” she added. “Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?” “It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there’s something that wasn’t done,” Reeves replied. “I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.” “I mean, you know — we’d freakin’ knock it out of the park,” he added of a third “Speed” movie. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are expressing the desire to work together once more, with Reeves seemingly open to returning to the Speed franchise after sitting Speed 2: Cruise Control out. https://t.co/hiS7hT05xv pic.twitter.com/0tGo4tScKF — IGN (@IGN) May 8, 2024 The 59-year-old actress was cast in the role of Annie Potter opposite Reeves, who played Officer Jack Traven, in the hit 1994 film. Bullock returned for “Speed 2: Cruise Control,” but Reeves did not. They later appeared together in the fantasy rom-com “The Lake House” in 2006. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP In 2018, the “Miss Congeniality” star talked about their undeniable on-screen chemistry and admitted she had a crush on Reeves back when they were making “Speed,” BroBible noted. “Never dated him,” Bullock told the host of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” at the time. “There was something about me that I guess he didn’t like. He never… I think we’re probably friends for that long because we didn’t…” A year later on the same talk show, the “Matrix” star told DeGeneres that he never knew and definitely had a crush on her at the same time. “She obviously didn’t know I had a crush on her, either, so…” Reeves replied, after seeing the clip of Bullock on the show. And now it sounds like they are ready to work together again following Reeves’ appearance in the lengthy “John Wick” franchise and the sci-fi thriller “Matrix” films. GOP Senators Push Biden Admin Over New Rule Giving DACA Recipients Access To Obamacare

Four Republican senators are pressing the Biden administration for answers over its announcement that it would make some immigrants who entered the U.S. illegally eligible for government-backed health care coverage. In a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra on Wednesday, Sens. Marsha Blackburn (TN), Kevin Cramer (ND), Mike Lee (UT), and J.D. Vance (OH) demanded that Becerra provide more details about a plan announced on Friday to allow immigrants with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status to enroll in Obamacare. The Biden administration estimated that the coverage could impact around 100,000 DACA recipients.  “At a time when our nation has endured record numbers of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border, this announcement sends a clear message: fixing the manufactured border crisis is the last thing that the Biden administration wants to do,” the Republicans wrote. “In Biden’s economy, inflation is on the rise while job growth is slowing down. Unemployment is at a two-year high, and foreign born workers are flooding the workforce.” “When America’s borders are open and our citizens’ wallets are hurting, the last thing this administration should be doing is providing free health care coverage to immigrants,” the letter added. “The American people deserve answers on such a disastrous policy.” The decision was made possible by a Biden administration rule changing the definition of “lawfully present” to include DACA recipients, who were given special status after their parents brought them to the United States as children illegally. The rule will go into effect just before the presidential election, as DACA recipients will be able to register for coverage on November 1. The Senators asked Becerra to provide the legal justification for expanding Obamacare eligibility without congressional authorization and for the Biden administration to estimate the expansion’s cost. Additionally, the Republicans asked if coverage would only apply to DACA recipients or include their family members.  CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP In September last year, a federal judge in Texas ruled that the DACA program was unconstitutional because the executive branch had to “usurp” congressional authority to enact the policy. “While sympathetic to the predicament of DACA recipients and their families, this court has expressed concerns about the legality of the program for some time. The solution for these deficiencies lies with the legislature, not the executive or judicial branches. Congress, for any number of reasons, decided not to pass DACA-like legislation,” Judge Andrew Hanen wrote.  The case is currently being reviewed at the appeals court level and could eventually reach the Supreme Court.

White Men Deserve Gratitude, Not Demonization

White Men Deserve Gratitude, Not Demonization

If you’ve ever worked in some capacity on procuring a federal government contract, then you’re familiar with maybe the single most obvious and grotesque form of affirmative action that exists in this country. It’s been around for a long time. As far back as Nixon’s administration, gender and racial affirmative action became mandatory for federal construction projects in the city of Philadelphia. Any federal contractor that hired fewer than 80% of the local share of “any race, sex, or ethnic group” risked losing their contract — and being barred from working with the federal government entirely. Within a year, those requirements applied to contracts with all federal agencies, nationwide. As an attorney named Michael Toth pointed out recently in the Wall Street Journal, those rules are still in place today, half a century later. In fact, they’ve only expanded in scope. Now the federal government can award no-bid contracts to so-called “minority-owned” businesses in many cases. The end result of this policy has been exactly what you’d expect. For one thing, contractors know that they need to employ a token number of women and minorities in order to get any kind of government grants. Additionally, so-called “minority-owned” contractors often get government contracts, and then subcontract them out to contractors who didn’t meet the diversity quota. This is all highly inefficient — it’s fraud, basically — and it’s resulted in taxpayers being forced to waste a lot of money. As City Journal reported recently, some government projects cost nearly 20% more than they would have without these affirmative action programs. Multiply that by hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of federal government contracts every year, and you begin to see the problem. Instead of ending this social engineering, and simply allowing markets to work without crude demographic manipulation, the Biden administration’s allies in state and local governments are doubling down. They’ve decided that they know exactly what the demographic makeup of each industry should be — and it just so happens that white men aren’t wanted in any industry. I’ll start with Maine, where this week, Democrats have determined that the field of construction — where blacks and hispanics make up nearly 40% of the workforce — simply isn’t diverse enough. Specifically, the governor, Janet Mills, has determined that more women need to be construction workers. And therefore, Mills has signed an executive order that, among other things, will use state and federal funding to prioritize construction projects that involve women. Watch: “We need construction workers, especially women, now.” Why? Why especially women? This is odd coming from Janet Mills, who spent her college years traveling through Europe and learning French, before going to law school and spending the rest of her life in government. What does Janet Mills know about construction, exactly? How is she qualified to say anything about what the construction industry needs, or who’s most qualified to fill those needs? As always, this DEI initiative is a solution in search of a problem. There is absolutely no reason to believe and not a single shred of evidence to suggest that the construction industry was in any way suffering due to a lack of female representation. There isn’t one problem in the construction industry that you can point to and say: “You know what will solve that? More women!” That’s because no problems can be solved by involving more females in construction. And on top of that, there is no evidence at all that any qualified female has ever been denied a job in construction due to her sex. By all accounts, fewer women are in construction for two simple reasons: First because most women don’t want to do construction. And second because men are generally much better at it. Of course, it’s completely rational for women to dislike the idea of working in construction. It’s one of the most dangerous jobs you can have. Source: bureau of Labor Statistics, Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries. AEI. As you can see from this chart from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it’s among the top 20 most dangerous jobs, along with roofers, police officers, truck drivers, miners, farmers and ranchers. And you’ll never guess what all of these top-20 most dangerous jobs in America have in common. They’re all overwhelmingly done by men. Construction is more than 97% male-dominated, and it has a fatal injury rate of 15 per 100,000 workers. That’s on par with cement and concrete manufacturing, which is also more than 97% male-dominated. These jobs can be very dangerous — and in fact would be even more dangerous for women. That’s not just because women are weaker and more injury prone — though they are. It’s also because a large percentage of the deaths on construction sites are caused at least in part by heat exhaustion. It just so happens that women are more sensitive to temperatures — both hot and cold. Any married man is very familiar with this phenomenon. One minute your wife is complaining that she’s freezing to death, you adjust the thermostat by one degree, and now she insists that the house is a sweltering desert. WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show So that is just one of the reasons why men tend to do most of the physically demanding jobs outside. Men tend to do most of the physically demanding and dangerous jobs everywhere. This is not a privilege that men have but rather a responsibility they carry. The takeaway from this shouldn’t be that we need more women doing these jobs. It’s that men (and white men in particular, historically) have had a unique and essential role in building and maintaining our civilization. We would not have this civilization without them. Rather than this constant drumbeat of scolding and lecturing and guilt and resentment — and treating the presence of this group as a problem that must be solved or a cancer that must be treated — the appropriate attitude is one of appreciation and gratitude. Men built every building you’ve ever been in, every bridge you’ve ever crossed, every road you’ve ever driven on. Sure, if you’re a bitter, resentful little brat, maybe that fact will make you feel somehow diminished. But if you’re a smart, mature, decent person, instead of demanding that we kick men out of these industries, you will instead have some gratitude. You will say, “Thank you men. Thank you for everything you’d done for civilization, and for me personally.” That should be our answer to the Janet Mills of the world. Rather than going on the defensive and justifying ourselves, men as a group should say to her: “Hey you ungrateful child. The correct response is thank you. Didn’t your parents teach you manners?” This same logic applies to race as well. These days, of course, as noted, it’s not just white men in the construction industry. But historically speaking white men have been uniquely indispensable contributors to western civilization. Most modern technology was invented by white men. Most of the great discoveries were made by white men. Most of our wars were fought and won predominately by white men. Most of the advances in medicine and science have been achieved by white men. Most of the great leaders, artists, thinkers, and philosophers in western history have been white men. And yet this is the one group most demonized — most hated for the sin of providing us with so much of what we value. A sane society would be finding ways to get this group more involved in things, given its incredible track record. Instead we go the other way. Outside of communist countries, modern western societies are the only ones in the history of the world that go out of their way to identify the people most responsible for building and maintaining their societies — only to villainize and alienate those same people. And we’re doing it more and more. This isn’t just happening in the federal government or in Maine. It’s also happening in the most populated city in the United States. Officials in New York have just proudly announced that they’ve awarded more than $2 billion in contracts for the purposes of renovating JFK Airport. And all of that money has gone to so-called “MWBE’s,” which is short for “Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises.” As the governor’s press release reads: “This is the largest participation of MWBE firms on any public-private partnership project in New York State history. … With today’s announcement JFK surpasses the LaGuardia Airport redevelopment, which set the previous New York State record for MWBE participation.” In other words, no one wanted reparations. Even in New York, it wasn’t a popular idea. So the state government just decided to do it anyway by handing out money on the basis of race and gender. They’ve chosen airports as their preferred vehicle to launder this money, evidently. If you watch the New York Port Authority’s press conference announcing this funding for the JFK renovation, you’ll see exactly what’s motivating these officials. It’s basically an hour of various New York officials, including a sitting member of Congress, celebrating the fact that they excluded white-owned businesses from receiving taxpayer funding. Here’s how it began: This is the head of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announcing — to applause — that JFK’s renovation involved as few white men as possible. He’s not proud of the quality of the renovation. He doesn’t talk about how the airport is going to be better as a result of this work. Instead, he’s just happy white people didn’t have a role in it. Never mind the fact that white people — white men, specifically — have pretty much single handedly built the entire aviation industry, beginning with inventing the airplane. Now we need to get them all out, for some reason. And then he goes on to explain that the government did everything it could to ensure that non-white people secured the government contracts for JFK, by preparing specialized, segregated “boot camps” to help them along in the application process. So he’s acknowledging that this was not a remotely fair or merit-driven process at any point. It was the purest form of affirmative action. He’s not celebrating that these minority businesses earned the job; he’s celebrating that the government rigged the process. This is illegal, obviously, and it gets worse. Here’s Congressman Gregory Meeks explaining why it was so important to discriminate against white male contractors: The congressman says it’s important for racial and gender discrimination (in the form of DEI) to be a part of everything New York does, but he doesn’t really say why. He gets some applause when he says it’s good for “business,” but he doesn’t elaborate on that point. That’s probably because, as I’ve outlined before, it’s demonstrably false that DEI is good for business. The only time DEI is good for business is if you’re a non-white business and you’re looking to get a government payout. In that case, DEI is good for business. For everyone else, it’s a massive economic drain at a minimum. It’s probably also a safety risk. Even if racial discrimination were somehow profitable, that still wouldn’t justify it. And it’s pretty remarkable that a sitting member of Congress would imply otherwise. Only a deep-seated hatred of white men would explain what we’re seeing here. As if there was any doubt about that, the next speaker at this press conference — a New York assemblymember named Alicia Hyndman — came right out and admitted that, yes, that’s what’s going on. Watch:   So, the woman can’t figure out how Zoom works, apparently, but she’s in charge of renovating the airport because, with apologies to white people, the airport isn’t for them anymore. It’s for people who look like Alicia Hyndman now: “We knew it was for us. For us, by us, to make sure this community that we represent looks like us.” To be clear, she’s talking about an airport. This is a public facility that isn’t “for” or “by” any racial group. And Alicia Hyndman is a public official. She supposedly represents a “community” that includes white people. But here she is, proudly declaring that the airport is “for” black people. And her “community” doesn’t include people who don’t “look like” her. So white men don’t get to build airports anymore. The airports aren’t for them. Neither are construction jobs. You have to wonder what, if anything, these politicians want white men to do. Should they ever receive any funding from the government? Should they be allowed to compete for government contracts on a fair and equal playing field? Should would white men build, maintain, and run their own airport? I’d be quite happy to use that airport, personally. I think most people would be. Really, though, everyone knows what’s happening here. Her goal, and the goal of her party, isn’t simply to erase white men from history. Their goal is to erase white men from the workforce, as punishment for doing everything so well, for so long. This isn’t a secret at this point. As conservatives spend all their time talking about college campuses, their enemies are being very methodical and explicit about what they’re doing — one airport renovation and construction job at a time.

Netflix Edits Out Kim Kardashian Being Drowned Out By Boos At Brady Roast

Netflix has edited out a viral moment from the Tom Brady roast when Kim Kardashian was drowned out by boos after she took the stage and tried to talk. During the streaming site’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady,” the 43-year-old reality TV star was mercilessly booed after she took to the podium and was unable to start her bit about comedian Kevin Hart until the boos finally subsided in the live-stream that aired on Sunday. A source close to the production of the roast admitted only the boos were edited and nothing else, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the edited version, Kardashian takes the stage and before the boos can be heard, the footage is cut and then picked up when the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star is finally able to start her joke. However, in the part that viewers originally saw on Sunday, Kardashian was initially greeted with applause — but that was quickly drowned out by loud boos, as previously reported. “Thank you,” Kardashian replied to the applause then attempted to roast Brady, but once the boos got so loud and drowned her out, she only laughed and said, “All right, all right, all right.” Kim Kardashian getting the Goodell treatment pic.twitter.com/ZIToNkavKJ — Pardon My Take (@PardonMyTake) May 6, 2024 One of the comedians attending the event, Kevin Hart, could be overheard off camera reacting to the boos and said, “Whoa, whoa.” Once the boos died down thanks to Hart, the reality star was finally able to start her jokes, per The Hollywood Reporter. “I know there were some rumors that we were [dating], and I’d never say if we did or not,” Kardashian joked about Brady. “I’d just release a tape.” “But I do know it would never work out,” she added, noting Brady’s “high cheekbones” and “silky hair. You remind me too much of my stepdad [Caitlyn Jenner] now.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “Honestly, it’s hard for me to watch people roast you. But I think enough of my family members have helped defend former football players,” Kardashian continued, referencing her late-father Robert Kardashian, who was on O.J. Simpson’s murder trial defense team. One of the comedians, Tony Hinchcliffe, took a jab at the reality star and those cracks were not edited out of the new version of the Brady roast. “She’s [Kardashian] had a lot of Black men celebrating her end-zone,” Hinchcliffe said. “Kim, word of advice, close your legs. You have more public beef than Kendrick [Lamar] and Drake.” Related: Kim Kardashian Gets Mercilessly Booed At Tom Brady Roast

‘JUDGED By Matt Walsh’ Ep. 6: Car Theft And A Cat Custody Battle

There’s no predicting what kind of cases will come before the Honorable Judge Walsh, but for fans of “JUDGED,” it’s guaranteed that they’ll be absolutely hilarious. Because as the wise judge likes to say, if you don’t like it, there’s something wrong with you. This week included family members of both the human and feline variety, which is made all the more exciting for anyone who knows how Walsh feels about cats. An animal presented on evidence in the courtroom? Yes, it’s just another day for the “JUDGED by Matt Walsh” audience. First up, April Lee is suing her daughter for $1,000 for allegedly borrowing her car and returning it damaged.  “Suing your own daughter is an interesting parenting strategy,” Judge Walsh says by way of greeting. “I’ve heard of putting them in timeouts, taking away privileges. I’ve never considered litigation against my kids. So why are we here? Why has it come to that?” Lee said she caught her daughter taking the car without permission and claimed she crashed it into a carport, which resulted in damage. “We need to teach her some responsibility,” she tells the judge. The plaintiff showed photos of the car before it was damaged, including images of herself posing with the vehicle to prove how happy she was to have the car. Judge Walsh asked if she also had a picture of herself looking sad next to the dented car, which inspired the courtroom to erupt into laughter. “Nothing that’s happening here is fine,” the judge said. “I’m trying to remind you, this is a court of law, and there’s nothing that we do here for a laugh.” When Walsh asked Lee if her daughter had taken anything else, the plaintiff said her daughter was responsible for a stolen outfit and machete, because someone else had taken them out of the car when she was using it without permission. The defendant Brianna Carrington insisted she didn’t take the car on the occasion in question, though she admitted to borrowing it in the past. The two women argued back and forth over when and how Carrington used the car, which Walsh attempted to unravel. Carrington suggested that her stepfather took the car because he didn’t want to be “cussed out” by Lee.  Walsh reminds Lee that if the defendant had to use alternate transportation such as Uber to get to her mom’s house and back home, it doesn’t make sense that she would then steal the car to go work on the Las Vegas strip. But Lee insisted that her daughter admitting to using the car seven times before meant she likely did an eighth time as well. “Miss, Carrington…. Do you know what the fifth commandment is? It’s honor thy father and mother,” Judge Walsh begins. “Miss Lee, do you know what the 11th commandment might have been if there was one? It might have been, ‘Don’t sue your child on a TV court show.’ You would be in violation of that commandment.” Ultimately, the judge delivers a wise and fair verdict which you can see by tuning into episode 6 of “JUDGED by Matt Walsh.”  The next case on the docket deals with the care and feeding of a cat. Taylor Mae is suing her friend Taylor Spicer for $2,500 to recoup money spent taking care of that friend’s cat. She said the defendant hasn’t paid for food, kitty litter, or anything since she began taking care of the animal for “a couple of years.” Mae said she had multiple conversations with her friend after taking the cat in, but didn’t bring up the burden of caring for the pet while the defendant’s family was ill because she didn’t want to be “confrontational.” “You don’t like being confrontational with your friends, so instead, you sue them in court?” Judge Walsh confirms. “Yes, Your Honor,” Mae replies with a laugh. The plaintiff said her friend finally came and picked up the cat after three years but never paid her for anything she purchased during that time to help care for the animal. Next, Mae and the defendant got into an argument over the cat’s name, which Mae says is Pepsi and Spicer says is Midnight. Their argument goes back and forth until Judge Walsh bangs the gavel. Judge Walsh next addresses the defendant.  “Now, Miss Spicer, what I’m hearing is that you are a negligent cat owner who abandoned your cat for years. And then came back into the picture like the deadbeat dad who disappears, who leaves to go to the store and doesn’t come back till the kids have graduated high school,” he begins, prompting Spicer to insist there’s “more to the story.” She explained how she gave the cat to Mae while she cared for her ailing grandparents, and then wasn’t “in a stable place” to take the cat back after they both passed away. “Why do you need to be stable to have cats? I thought cats were for unstable people. The majority of women who have cats are unstable,” Judge Walsh said. “That’s true,” Spicer replied. After some more background to the story is established, the judge tells the courtroom that the cat is present. “I do not normally allow wild beasts in my courtroom. But in this case, I think certainly one thing that will help in my deliberations is to find out who the cat prefers,” Walsh explained.  Brief chaos ensues as the cat runs all over the courtroom before the bailiff picks it up. “I think he likes me,” the bailiff observes as he cradles the animal.  “Well that settles it, the bailiff gets the cat,” Judge Walsh says. “This has made a mockery of this fake courtroom,” he adds of letting the animal join proceedings in the first place. Following deliberations, Judge Walsh says, “This has been an adventure. The bailiff is now covered in cat piss. Miss Mae, Miss Spicer, you have come to me with a dispute over a cat. You both have claimed custody of the cat. You both have claimed the right to name the cat. I’ve deliberated over this, extensively, for many long seconds, and I have come to a conclusion now.” Tune in to the latest episode of “JUDGED” to hear the verdict and keep checking back every week for exciting new cases, premiering Tuesdays exclusively on DailyWire+.

Trump Wins Pennsylvania Decisively In New AARP Poll

Former President Donald Trump is predicted to win a decisive victory in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, according to a new poll. Trump leads President Joe Biden by four points among Pennsylvania voters, Trump with 49% support and Biden with 45%, according to the latest poll from the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Trump’s lead is even stronger among voters 50 and up, who made up more than half of the state’s voters in 2020, according to AARP Pennsylvania. The former president leads the incumbent 52% to 42%, the poll found. “Pennsylvania voters over age 50 are a critical voting bloc that all candidates are competing for in this election,” said Bill Johnston Walsh, state director of AARP Pennsylvania. “Pennsylvanians of all political stripes want leaders to protect Social Security and provide support for family caregivers. If candidates want to win, they should pay attention to the issues that matter to Pennsylvanians ages 50-plus,” Walsh said. Large majorities of older Pennsylvania voters say candidates’ positions on Social Security, Medicare, and prescription drugs are important to their decisions. About 80% of voters 50 and up say a candidate’s position on Social Security is important. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The former president also holds a strong 10-point lead among independents in Pennsylvania, according to the poll. Other polls also show Trump with an edge over Biden in the Keystone State. Trump leads in the state by about two points, according to RealClearPolitics’ average of polls. A Trump win in Pennsylvania would narrow Biden’s path to victory considerably. In 2020, Trump lost Pennsylvania to Biden by just over 80,000 votes out of more than 6.8 million ballots. In 2016, he won the state, the first time Republicans had won Pennsylvania in a presidential election since 1988. The former president also lost a slew of other battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin. However, these swing states appear to favor Trump so far, although in some cases, his edge is within the margin of error. Nationally, Trump leads Biden by just over a point, according to RealClearPolitics’ average of polls. With the election just six months away, both Trump and Biden have ramped up their campaign strategies, with Democrats leaning into the abortion issue and Republicans doubling down on their attacks on the economy under Biden. Trump is battling several court cases, one of which has kept him stuck in a Manhattan courtroom all day in recent weeks. He has scheduled rallies and other campaign events in the evenings, on weekends, and on Wednesdays when the court is not usually in session.

Hundreds Of Jewish Students At Columbia Sign Letter Saying ‘We Will Not Stop Standing Up For Ourselves’

Hundreds of Jewish students at Columbia University signed onto an open letter to the school community vowing not to back down in the face of protests in response to the Israel-Hamas war that caused a major disruption on the New York City campus. Shai Davidai, a Columbia professor who last month said he was barred from campus as he tried to stage a sit-in at the site where the anti-Israel demonstrators had set up an encampment, and others shared the letter in a post to X on Wednesday. According to the letter, the signees are “average students,” who say that those “who demonize us under the cloak of anti-Zionism forced us into our activism and forced us to publicly defend our Jewish identities.” The letter expressed the view that the Jewish people have a “right to self-determination in our historic homeland as a fundamental tenet of our Jewish identity” and pushed back on claims that Judaism can be “separated” from Israel. Citing reports of harassment, the letter said the “evil irony of today’s antisemitism is a twisted reversal of our Holocaust legacy; protestors on campus have dehumanized us, imposing upon us the characterization of the ‘white colonizer.'” The Jewish students said they are being “targeted for our belief that Israel, our ancestral and religious homeland, has a right to exist.” They also said the word “Zionist” is being misused as a slur that is “synonymous with racist, oppressive, or genocidal.” Love of Israel “does not necessitate blind political conformity,” the letter said, adding that such affection pushes many of the Jewish students to object when the Israeli government acts in ways they find “problematic” — such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s judicial reform push. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The latest conflict in the Gaza Strip began more than six months ago after the deadly Hamas attack on Israel in October. Anti-Israel protests at colleges nationwide have taken root since that time. Columbia canceled its main graduation ceremony after a crackdown on protesters who sought divestment from Israel. Jewish students wrote in the letter that the last half year showed them a “large and vocal population of the Columbia community does not understand the meaning of Zionism, and subsequently does not understand the essence of the Jewish People.” The letter said concerns about anti-Semitism “have been brushed off and invalided,” and so the Jewish students listed several examples in order to “remind” the community of their strife, including when a protest leader — who has since been kicked from campus — said, “Zionists don’t deserve to live.” In concluding the letter, the Jewish students said, “One thing is for sure. We will not stop standing up for ourselves. We are proud to be Jews, and we are proud to be Zionists.” The Jewish students added that they hope the community will join them in an effort to “repair our campus.”
