Trump Tariffs Drive Inflation? Big Short’s Steve Eisman Says That’s ‘Ridiculous’
Steve Eisman, best known for his “Big Short” bet against subprime mortgages, said that the idea tariffs imposed by Donald Trump will drive up inflation is “ridiculous.”
The Neuberger Berman Group portfolio manager said in a Bloomberg TV interview on Tuesday that he expects that if Donald Trump is re-elected as president, he will impose tariffs on goods from China. But he does not believe that higher import duties will increase inflation.
“Do I think that Donald Trump will increase tariffs on China? Sure. Do I think that would have a massively inflationary impact on the U.S.? I think that’s ridiculous,” Eisman said.

Parents Sue North Carolina School Board After 16-Year-Old Student Suspended, Called Racist For Saying ‘Illegal Alien’
Parents in North Carolina are taking legal action against their local school board after they suspended their 16-year-old son for using the term “illegal alien.”
Christian McGhee was suspended from Central Davidson High School in Lexington, North Carolina and also smeared as a racist after he asked a question about the word “alien” during a vocabulary exercise.
“Like space aliens or illegal aliens without green cards?” he reportedly asked his teacher.
This question then led to a confrontation with another student, and the matter was consequently escalated to the assistant principal, who determined he had been “offensive and disrespectful” towards his Hispanic classmates, leading to his suspension.
The term “illegal alien” is the correct term used to refer to foreign citizens who have entered the U.S. illegally. Open borders oppose its usage because it emphasizes that migrants have broken the law.
Now, the Liberty Justice Center is taking up the case and suing the Davidson County Board of Education for violating his constitutional rights.

During the discussion, the Democrat former governor expressed his perspective on the fading public trust in government authority, particularly concerning health mandates.
“I believe if the government were now to say, ‘We just made a finding that there’s a new virus, and everyone should do X, Y, and Z,’ the amount of compliance with X, Y, and Z would be much, much lower than it was at the beginning of COVID because people do not trust the government, especially on this issue, the way they did at the beginning. That would be a complicating factor. When you have people who just don’t listen because the government had no capacity to enforce any of this.
You must wear a mask. People wore masks in New York. But if they said, ‘I’m not wearing a mask,’ there was nothing I could do about it.
You must close your private business. ‘I won’t.’ Well, there was nothing I could really do about it. Contrary to his claims that the compliance with health directives during the pandemic was “all voluntary” and that there was “no capacity to enforce” these measures, these assertions are misleading and revisionist.
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Governor Cuomo exercised tyrannical authority, implementing strict mandates that affected millions of New Yorkers.
His administration’s directives, which included mandatory mask-wearing even for children over the age of two and the closure of nonessential businesses, were enforced under the threat of penalties or prison and were not merely voluntary suggestions as he now claims.
The state of New York leads the country in terms of COVID-19 deaths despite having the highest vaccination rate.
Cuomo’s policies killed at least 11,000 seniors during the COVID pandemic. New York COVID deaths from nursing homes were 49% greater than previously reported.
The main reason for this is that Governor Andrew Cuomo had a policy that nursing homes had to accept patients who were infected with the virus. Thousands of elderly people died as a result.

Police Clear Out GWU Encampment After Call for Beheadings, May Have Moved in for More Ignoble Reason
George Washington University has been begging for help from the police for days to help clear out the campus encampment that had been set up there by the radical Gaza activists.

But the police failed to come in even in spite of all that, despite the fact the school has been begging for help since at least the week before, as we reported on April 27. Police finally came in and cleared the encampment on Wednesday morning at about 3:30 a.m.
Early this morning, D.C. police began clearing the protest camp at George Washington University's campus that started nearly two weeks ago.
Authorities said multiple people have been arrested.

18 U.S. Code § 611 – Voting by aliens
(a)It shall be unlawful for any alien to vote in any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing a candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, unless—
(1)
the election is held partly for some other purpose;
(2)
aliens are authorized to vote for such other purpose under a State constitution or statute or a local ordinance; and
(3)
voting for such other purpose is conducted independently of voting for a candidate for such Federal offices, in such a manner that an alien has the opportunity to vote for such other purpose, but not an opportunity to vote for a candidate for any one or more of such Federal offices.
(b)
Any person who violates this section shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
(c)Subsection (a) does not apply to an alien if—
(1)
each natural parent of the alien (or, in the case of an adopted alien, each adoptive parent of the alien) is or was a citizen (whether by birth or naturalization);
(2)
the alien permanently resided in the United States prior to attaining the age of 16; and
(3)
the alien reasonably believed at the time of voting in violation of such subsection that he or she was a citizen of the United States.
