Rep. Comer Prepares Subpoenas for President Autopen

Rep. James Comer, Chair of the House Oversight Committee, believes he knows who President Autopen is. He identified staffers involved in using the Autopen while Biden was clearly unaware or cognitively challenged. We now find out how physically impaired he was, while his doctors said he was fit. It looks like President Autopen acted independently […] The post Rep. Comer Prepares Subpoenas for President Autopen appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Kid Rock Dubs Trump The ‘Dragon Slayer’ Of Wokeness

Kid Rock credits President Donald Trump with helping to rid the nation of cancel culture, wokeness, and pervasive DEI initiatives. The 54-year-old recording artist, who has been a fervent supporter of Trump for years, made the remarks while speaking with Fox News Digital on Friday at his “Rock N Rodeo” event in Texas. “I think wokeness and DEI and cancel culture is starting to exit the building, and we can thank President Trump for leading that charge once again. I call him the dragon slayer in that regard, ‘cuz he just came and slit the throat of DEI and wokeness,” Kid Rock told the outlet. “There’s always gonna be cancel culture at some level, somebody getting butt sore about this, wants to protest and not buy a product or whatever. You know, me personally, I’m not into seeing people lose their jobs over some corporate decision that was made,” he continued, before referencing one of the most successful boycotts by conservatives in history. “But sometimes there needs [to be] a little spanking there, like Bud Light had from me and some other people, but at the end of the day, we forgave them, said, ‘It’s all good. Let’s get back on track.’”  The “Born Free” singer next described his vision for America.  “I do think it’s exiting the building right now, and hopefully it stays gone, but we should be a merit-based system. The best and hardworking rises to the top. I don’t know how we got here, because to me, that’s just common sense, that’s just the ultimate, highest level of common sense that just the best and the hardest workers rise to the top. It doesn’t matter, anything else,” he told the outlet. Kid Rock also called Trump the “greatest president ever.”  “My thoughts on President Trump’s presidency: greatest president ever. I can sum it up like that. Not only because of our friendship and all the laughs we share on the golf course or hanging out at UFC fights or whatever it might be, but just the tenacity this man has. You know, the most resilient,” he said. Just after the inauguration, Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, talked about a major shift in the entertainment industry as mainstream artists like Carrie Underwood and Snoop Dogg were willing to associate themselves with Trump.  “It feels like the rebirth of our nation,” the singer said at the time, as The Daily Wire previously reported.  “There’s just this overwhelming sense … you’ve heard it a million times, that America’s back,” he added. “Now they feel it’s safe to go in the water after dipping their toe in it for four to eight years,” Ritchie said. “I mean, welcome to the party, like I’ve said. Better to have them on board than not.” In April, Kid Rock helped set up a dinner with Trump, UFC CEO Dana White, and liberal podcast host Bill Maher. He described the meeting as “so pleasant,” saying, “everybody’s mind was kind of blown.”

Trump Invites Pope Leo To The White House ‘As Soon As He Possibly Can Come’

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have invited Pope Leo XIV to the White House, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Daily Wire on Monday. Leavitt took questions from the press at a 9:00 a.m. briefing, where she responded to The Daily Wire’s question about Vice President JD Vance’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Rome. “My understanding was it was a good meeting, a productive meeting, and we’re grateful that the vice president did it and that he also went to the Pope’s first mass in Rome,” Leavitt shared. “I also have an update on that,” the press secretary added, sharing: “The Vice President passed along a letter to the Pope from the President and from the First Lady, extending their warm wishes and inviting him to the White House as soon as he possibly can come.” Pope Leo and Vance sat down together for a 45-minute one-on-one discussion, after which Rubio joined them. Second Lady Usha Vance and Rubio’s wife, Jeanette Dousdebes Rubio, joined the leaders afterward for an exchange of gifts. Vance gifted the Holy Father a Chicago Bears jersey with “Pope Leo XIV” on the back, a gesture towards the pope’s American heritage. Pope Leo XIV exchanges gifts with Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife, Usha (Photo by Simone Risoluti Vatican Media via Vatican Pool/Getty Images) Vance also gave the pope “The City of God” and “On Christian Doctrine,” by St. Augustine. Vance chose St. Augustine as his patron saint when he converted to Catholicism, and Pope Leo is the first pope from the Order of St. Augustine. “This morning in Vatican City, Vice President JD Vance met privately with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV,” the Vice President’s office said in a Monday statement about the visit. “The Pope also held expanded meetings with the Vice President, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the U.S. delegation.” “Following his meetings with the Pope, the Vice President met with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations,” the statement added. “The Vice President and Archbishop Gallagher discussed religious freedom, the persecution of Christians around the world, and the shared commitment of President Trump and Pope Leo XIV to stop the killing in Ukraine and the Middle East.” Vance met with Zelensky on Sunday in Rome, where the two leaders “discussed their shared goal of ending the bloodshed in Ukraine and provided updates on the current state of negotiations for a ceasefire and lasting peace,” according to a readout from the vice president’s office. Coastal Elite Schools Aren’t The Only Ones Who Deserve Federal Funding

The Trump administration’s decision to pull federal funding from Harvard and other top-tier schools sparked outrage in the elite corridors of the American academy. But this move has a clear silver lining: it could benefit less prestigious, significantly smaller, but certainly deserving schools across America. From the end of World War II through the Cold War, brand-name institutions lobbied for, and were awarded, a disproportionate share of federal research dollars. That left capable regional universities vying for the leftovers. It’s about time that this inequitable dynamic changed. Federal research money needs to go where it can yield the most significant and widespread benefits, and doesn’t always mean schools in large cities along the coasts. According to federal data, over a third of federal R&D funding was spent by just 20 colleges. That means most of America’s smaller schools have been ignored or overlooked, many of which enroll first-generation college students and are located in rural or underserved locales. When the same recipients are trusted with the bulk of federal dollars year after year, we lose out on the fresh perspectives, crucial specialized research, and real-world problem-solving that a more even-handed distribution of funds would make possible. Are there instances where a tiny institution like the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota (enrollment: 1,400) receives federal research money?  Yes, it happens: the school was awarded $1.8m in 2023. But that’s the exception, not the rule. An upgraded distribution policy of federal research funding could unleash a torrent of invention by regularly redirecting dollars to less prominent schools nationwide, including historically black colleges and universities, Historically Hispanic Institutions, and technical colleges. When a school in Wyoming or Mississippi wins a grant that would ordinarily go to one of the dominant and expected recipients, it’s not only that school’s students who benefit. It means constructing new labs, hiring new faculty, creating possible societal benefits for Americans’ health, and potentially stimulating economic benefits for American industries. Supporters of funding reallocation, of which I am one, argue that it creates a fairer research landscape in America where the upsides aren’t locked in with the same annual recipients. Every university in America should have a shot at discovery, not just those on the short list.   Reconsidering where federal research dollars are spent could inspire an exciting realignment that allows more American institutions to contribute to science, technology, and innovation advances. Dr. David Lenihan is the CEO of Ponce Health Sciences University, a fully-accredited medical school with campuses in St. Louis and Puerto Rico.  The views expressed in this piece are those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of The Daily Wire.
