A Democrat senator worrying about his re-election campaign says he won’t endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president. Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) has previously refused to endorse Harris, but last week, he specifically told NBC Montana why. “Two reasons — because I’m focused on my race, and number two, people want to nationalize this race, and this isn’t about national politics,” Tester told the outlet. “This is about Montana.” NBC Montana said it had previously asked Tester about Harris running for president, as he hadn’t said anything about it throughout August. The outlet was finally able to pin him down at an event last week following Tester’s decision to skip the Democratic National Convention. The senator was asked why it was so crucial for him to be in Montana right now and whether the “energy” from the DNC had made him reconsider if he would endorse Harris. Tester’s refusal to tie himself to Harris has been seen as an effort to save his own job. Former President Donald Trump leads the polls in Montana, which Trump won by 16 points in 2020. Tester is also the only Democrat in Montana’s congressional delegation. He won his previous elections by less than four points (3.1 percentage points in 2018 and 3.7 percentage points in 2012), so if his GOP opponent, Sheehy, is helped even a little by the state’s favor of Trump, Tester could lose his seat. All recent polls of the Montana Senate race put Sheehy in the lead, and the Real Clear Politics polling average has him up five points. The most recent poll, from Rasmussen, gives Sheehy a 7-point lead, and the three polls before that, conducted between June 29 and August 12, also showed the challenger leading by a comfortable margin: +5 in the latest Remington poll, +2 in the latest poll from Emerson, and +6 in a poll taken by KULR-TV between August 10 and 12. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump blasted the Kamala Harris campaign on Monday for pushing to change the rules for the upcoming ABC News debate, saying that Harris and her team are looking for a way to “get out” of the event. POLITICO reported that the Harris campaign is requesting a change from previously agreed-upon rules that would mute the microphone of the candidate who was not speaking. The Harris campaign argues that the rule was agreed upon between Trump and President Joe Biden for the June 27 CNN debate and the September 10 ABC News debate before Biden dropped out and Harris became the Democratic nominee. Trump responded to the Harris campaign’s recent move, saying the vice president “doesn’t want to debate.” “We agreed to the same rules. I don’t know. It doesn’t matter to me. The advertisements, part of a $3.5 million advertising campaign from AFP Action, focus on Sens. Jon Tester (MT), Sherrod Brown (OH), and Bob Casey (PA), featuring constituent testimonies on the state of the economy. “I’m very worried about where the country is headed,” a Pennsylvania resident named Jackie says in an ad viewed by The Daily Wire. “I have to work three jobs just to get by,” a resident named Jack says. “I cannot name one thing that Bob Casey has done to help my family,” a woman named Heather says. Casey is facing off against Republican businessman Dave McCormick. “Americans are facing record-high prices at the grocery store and gas pumps, a direct result of the failed Biden-Harris policies supported by Senators Jon Tester, Sherrod Brown, and Bob Casey,” AFP Action Director Nathan Nascimento told The Daily Wire. “Each of these career politicians are responsible for record high inflation that is harming everyday Americans. The taxpayers are absolutely paying the bills. We pay for all the wrong decisions.” “Sherrod Brown failed Ohio families, he doesn’t deserve another six years,” the advertisement states. Brown and Tester’s races have been categorized as toss-ups, while Casey’s race is said to be leaning Democrat. With Democrats currently holding a slim 51-49 advantage in the Senate, the three races could determine control of the upper chamber.

According to a new report, roughly one-third of funds spent since 2023 by the Lincoln Project, the PAC  founded in 2019 mostly by former Republicans to oppose the re-election of President Donald Trump, went to companies controlled by leaders of the PAC. More than $4 million of the $12.8 million spent since this election cycle was directed to companies owned by members of its leadership, the Daily Caller reported. Lever Communications, formerly known as Joe Trippi & Associates, collected almost $1 million. Trippi acts as a senior advisor for the Lincoln Project. Intrepid Media, the firm owned by Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson, received $664,000 from the PAC, while the Lincoln Project paid Wilson’s son, Andrew, $105,750 for “corporate campaign management.” Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW!
