Kamala Harris Is the Front-Runner for California Governor in 2026

Kamala Harris is currently leading in polls as the Democratic front-runner for the 2026 California gubernatorial race, with 57% support from voters, according to a recent Emerson College poll. Despite her lead, Harris has not confirmed her participation in the election. Emerson isn’t the best poll, but other polls have also suggested she will be […] The post Kamala Harris Is the Front-Runner for California Governor in 2026 appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

After Letter, Georgia State to Allow Pastor to Share Faith on Campus

THE CENTER SQUARE—Georgia State University reversed its decision to prohibit a local Christian man from sharing his faith on campus after receiving a letter from religious liberty defense group First Liberty Institute. “Georgia State University (‘GSU’) will allow Stephen Atkerson to speak with students on campus about his Christian faith when invited by students to engage in conversation,” First Liberty Institute said in a news release. “First Liberty sent the university a demand letter in December urging the university to reverse its restrictions on Mr. Atkerson,” the release stated. First Liberty is a legal organization dedicated to defending religious freedom, as stated on its website. When asked how GSU responded to First Liberty’s letter, the group’s senior counsel Nate Kellum told The Center Square that “GSU acknowledged Stephen Atkerson’s rights and agreed to let him have consensual conversations with students on the campus.” GSU “thought [Atkerson] had to stay in the [school’s] free speech zone to evangelize,” Kellum said. “More specifically, a GSU official told Atkerson he could not share his faith in the dining hall or anywhere other than the free speech zone, and then ordered him—with the backing of three armed police officers—to go back to the free speech zone, even though it was raining,” Kellum said. In its release, First Liberty reported that “Atkerson visits the Clarkston Campus of GSU’s Perimeter College to share his Christian faith with interested students in the free speech area on campus,” with a goal of “friendly, one-on-one conversations with willing participants.” “On several occasions, Atkerson met with one particular GSU student to discuss the Bible and various aspects of Christianity,” the release stated. “When they moved to a table just outside the dining area due to the weather, the conversation abruptly ended when three police officers demanded he return immediately to the free speech area or be escorted off the campus,” according to the release. “Now with the university’s actions, Atkerson has returned to the campus and is allowed to speak,” the release stated. First Liberty’s letter to GSU outlined how the school’s actions infringed on Atkerson’s constitutional rights. “GSU’s restrictions on Atkerson’s conversational religious speech contravene” his constitutional protections, the letter stated. “Religious speech is constitutionally protected,” the letter stated. “Conversational speech is also safeguarded.” The letter said, “Atkerson demands written assurance from GSU that university officials will immediately refrain from 1) prohibiting consensual conversations on GSU campus in the dining area or elsewhere and 2) prohibiting speakers in the free speech from approaching others.” The letter was written to GSU President M. Brian Blake, Dean of Perimeter College Barbara Johnson, and GSU General Counsel Kerry Heyward. The Center Square reached out to GSU Office of the President, Johnson, and Heyward multiple times each for comment, as well as GSU media relations, receiving no response. Twitter Files Journalist Sounds Alarm on Allegedly Defunded Gov’t Censor

Independent journalist Matt Taibbi warned the House Judiciary Committee that a key player in the deep state censorship cartel could continue its nefarious activities in government. Taibbi, known for his work on The Twitter Files, testified at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on “The Censorship-Industrial Complex” Wednesday. During the hearing, Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI) asked Taibbi about the current status of the infamous Global Engagement Center (GEC), a State Department Program responsible for pushing for censorship on social media and giving $100,000 to the anti-free speech Global Disinformation Index (GDI). Taibbi made clear that State Department bureaucrats were trying to continue the GEC’s work after losing funding. [Story Continues on MRC Free Speech America]

Jesus Christ was ‘in the middle’: The WORST biblical interpretation of all time

Bad biblical takes are common — especially on social media platform X — but Allie Beth Stuckey of “Relatable” believes one recent interpretation of the word of God may take the cake for the worst of them. The interpretation comes from American evangelical pastor and author of “The Purpose Driven Life,” Rick Warren, who seems to be under the impression that Jesus Christ was a fence-sitter. “John 19:18, ‘They crucified Jesus with two others — one on each side and Jesus in the middle.’ The guys on both sides were thieves. If you’re looking for the #realJesus, not a caricature disfigured by partisan motivations, you’ll find him in the middle, not on either side,” Warren wrote in a post on X. “Now, brothers and sisters in Christ, it took me a good second to understand what brother Warren is saying here,” Stuckey says. “Certainly, a pastor, who has been a pastor for so many years, is not saying because Jesus was physically in the center of Golgotha, that he had two people being crucified to his side, that he is also the center of Republican and Democrats.” “He’s not saying that he’s politically moderate because the cross was in the middle of the three crosses when he was crucified,” she continues, adding, “but it does seem like that is what he is saying.” Stuckey responded to Warren on X through a quote tweet, writing, “This is possibly the worst biblical interpretation I’ve ever seen, and that’s really saying something. Jesus is not ‘in the middle’ on the murder of children, gender deception, the definition of marriage, or anything else, for that matter. In fact, I seem to remember Him having a particular disdain for the lukewarm.” “It’s very clear on what God thinks about the sanctity of life, the value of image bearers, the definition of marriage, the definition of gender. It’s not confusing, it’s only confusing if you want it to be for your political purposes,” she adds. Afghan driver rams into crowd in Germany and injures dozens, police say

German police are investigating an Afghan citizen who allegedly rammed a crowd of union members in a demonstration in Munich. About 30 people were injured when the 24-year-old Afghan allegedly drove the white Mini car into a crowd on Thursday at about 10:30 a.m. local time. 'We sympathize with the people, but we also need the determination to change things in Germany and fast.' Authorities said there were indications that the suspect in the "suspected attack" had "an extremist background." One officer fired a gunshot into the car, and the suspect was injured slightly but not shot, according to police. He was arrested at the scene. The suspect had been rejected for asylum in 2020 when a deportation order was issued for him. That order was later overturned, and he was given residency. Some reports initially claimed that he had been known to police for drug and theft incidents in Munich, but police said he had been a witness in several trials, not a defendant. Authorities said there were children among the injured and that at least two people were seriously injured. "There are a lot of injured. It's a slap in the face," said Bavaria Gov. Markus Söder. "We sympathize with the people, but we also need the determination to change things in Germany and fast." Vice President JD Vance was scheduled to visit a major security conference in Munich with other global leaders on Friday. "There was no protective impact to the VP, but we are monitoring that incident closely, and German authorities are still investigating a potential motive," said the U.S. Secret Service to NBC News. The suspected attack comes only ten days before Germany has its federal elections. Video from Munich can be viewed on the Sky News report on YouTube. Like Blaze News?
