It was a night of Democratic guests on the late night comedy shows as ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel, CBS’s Stephen Colbert, and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show’s host of the week, Desi Lydic, all welcomed Democratic politicians to their programs to instill in their audiences the importance of voting for the blue team in less than three weeks. Kimmel asked Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock, “And as a pastor as well, I would imagine that, I mean, you can tell me, is being a pastor something that helps you reach across the aisle? Is that something that makes people on the other side of the aisle more open to you reaching out?”     Warnock began by highlighting the work he’s done with GOP Sens. Tommy Tuberville and Marco Rubio, but then switched to raging partisan mode by engaging the very un-pastorally act of spreading fake news: This terrible situation has gotten worse now as we've seen these extreme abortion bans in Georgia. As Donald Trump has taken credit, as he should, for overthrowing Roe v. Wade. We had a young woman in Georgia, Amber Thurman, a young mother. She had a 6-year-old son and she needed a basic—basic medical care, you know, that they do every single day, a D&C. And she didn't get it done. She was laying in the hospital for 20 hours. Why? Because the doctors were somewhere on a dilemma between their Hippocratic Oath and the reality that they might be imprisoned. And there she was languishing in this dilemma created by male politicians. And this young woman literally lost her life.  He later added, “I am a pro-choice pastor. I think that on this question the issue is not what you personally think about abortion. The issue is whose decision is it? And what we are seeing in real time is that regardless of your view on this, medicine and the science is clearly more complicated and more complex than the politics.” Kimmel would later ask, “How did, may I ask in your opinion anyway, how did the GOP manage to cast itself as the party of Christianity? And do you believe Jesus would be a Republican?” With no sense of self-awareness, Warnock replied, “Look, I'm a Matthew 25 Christian. I believe that the acetate test of your faith is the depth of your commitment to the poor and the most marginalized members of the human family.” Meanwhile, over at The Late Show, Colbert lauded Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett and put the ball on the tee for her, “You gave this great speech at the convention, as I remember, now you're going around the country for the next 20 days to get out the vote. What are people going to hear from you? What is your message for the next 20 days?” Crockett began, “Everyone has a different issue that matters most to them. So, if I've only got you for five seconds, then what I do is I say whatever your most important issue is, Google that and Project 2025. If you like what Project 2025 says, then vote for the orange one. If you don't like what it says, then you know that the Harris-Walz ticket is for you.”     She urged people to ask, “Do we want to go back or do we want to go forward? And what type of world do we want our kids to live in? Do we want it to be a world in which they can go to school and not have to worry about an active shooter?” Like Warnock, Crockett preyed on fears of women dying should Republicans win, “Is it a world which children, if they’re raped, or women, if they end up in this situation, have no options when it comes to their reproductive access and may end up dying?” Crockett also not so subtly accused the GOP of racism, “Do we want to live in a world where we don't celebrate our diversity, but instead we act as if there's only one group of people that matter in this country?” Over at The Daily Show, Lydic began by praising Georgia pretend Gov. Stacey Abrams, “You’re a large part for why Georgia flipped blue in 2020.”     She then lamented, “It feels like there is so much progress that is being made and yet, here we are again, coming up on election— on the election and it is mandated that ballots must be hand counted in Georgia. Is it as [bleep] up as it sounds?” Abrams then went on to decry that measure, which has since been blocked by the courts, before pleading with the audience, “We need to tell people, here's why your vote matters because so many people think, ‘My vote won't count.’ Yes. Georgia was decided by fewer than 12,000 votes in a state of 11 million people. It counts. It counts more than you can imagine. There are no words for that. And so here's what I believe. I get some grief from folks who think that they own the meaning of the Gospel. I am a pro-choice pastor. I think that on this question the issue is not what you personally think about abortion. The issue is whose decision is it? And what we are seeing in real time is that regardless of your view on this, medicine and the science is clearly more complicated and more complex than the politics. Doctors are having to make these decisions every day. Women are faced with these issues every day and that's why I believe that a patient's room is too small and cramped a space for a woman, her doctor, and the United States government.  KIMMEL: How did, may I ask in your opinion anyway, how did the GOP manage to cast itself as the party of Christianity? In a fiery interview with the New York Times, JD Vance pushed back against media bias and liberal hypocrisy — again, as in his debate against Tim Walz, showcasing his strength in unfriendly territory. “It was adversarial at every moment,” Stu Burguiere of “Stu Does America” says. “What you’re doing here is you’re putting JD Vance, your vice presidential candidate, in the most harsh room possible, over and over and over and over again.” The interviewer pressed Vance on his “childless cat lady” comments, and he didn’t flinch. “I’m not talking about people who it just didn’t work out right for medical reasons, for social reasons, like set that to the side. We’re not talking about folks like that. What I was definitely trying to illustrate, and ultimately in a very inarticulate way, is that I do think our country has become almost pathologically anti-child,” Vance responded. He then told a story of a young black mother on the train with her kids, whom he noticed for how patient she was being with them. However, the people around her were making it clear that they were impatient and annoyed. “That kind of stuck with me,” Vance said. “I do think that there’s like this pathological frustration with children that just is a new thing in American society. I think it’s very dark. I think you see it sometimes in the political conversation, you know, people saying, ‘Well, maybe we shouldn’t have kids because of climate change.’” “That, I think, is a very deranged idea, the idea that you shouldn’t have a family because of concerns over climate change. Doesn’t mean you can’t worry about climate change,” he finished. “That’s a really good answer,” Stu comments. However, it wasn’t just the New York Times Vance took on. In a now-viral interview on ABC with Martha Raddatz, Vance refused to back down while she espoused common left-wing talking points. “The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes, and the mayor said our dedicated police officers have acted on those concerns. A handful of problems,” Raddatz said with finality. “Only? Martha, do you hear yourself?” Vance said. “Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs, and Donald Trump is the problem and not Kamala Harris’ open border. Americans are so fed up with what’s going on, and they have every right to be.” “I really find this exchange, Martha, sort of interesting, because you seem to be more focused with nitpicking everything that Donald Trump has said rather than acknowledging that apartment complexes in the United States of America are being taken over by violent gangs,” he continued. Leftist publications and the Harris campaign have tried desperately to spin President Donald Trump's Tuesday interview with the editor in chief of Bloomberg News as a botch job on the part of the Republican — calling it "disastrously bad," "rambling," "angry and unfocused," and "a total mess." The audience members present for the exchange at the Economic Club of Chicago were evidently of a different mind, both cheering on Trump's ripostes to Bloomberg's John Micklethwait, booing the interviewer's loaded questions, and giving the president a standing ovation. Micklethwait, who reportedly ordered his staff not to investigate Michael Bloomberg or his Democratic rivals prior to the 2020 election, attempted on several occasions to kneecap the Republican candidate but proved unsuited to the task. In one instance, the British Bloomberg EIC tried characterizing Trump's plan to impose significant tariffs on imports and on American companies that outsource manufacturing as potentially ruinous, suggesting that it might adversely impact the economy as well as foreign powers. Trump indicated that his tariff strategy during his first term was ramping up to major success prior to the pandemic, not only incentivizing companies to build factories in the homeland but bringing in "hundreds of billions of dollars just from China alone, and I hadn't even started yet." 'They've been wrong about everything.' Shortly after the Republican president reiterated that tariffs serve to protect American companies and those companies that will ultimately flood into the country, Micklethwait said: A lot of places like this, they rely — there are a lot of jobs that rely on foreigners coming here. You're going to basically stop trade with China. You're talking about 60% tariffs on that. You're talking, as you said, 100%, 200% on things you don't really like. You're also talking about 10, 20% tariffs on the rest of the world. That is going to have a serious effect on the overall economy. And yes you're going to find some people who would gain from individual tariffs. The overall effect could be massive. Trump rejected the Bloomberg editor's premise, saying, "I agree. It's going to have a massive effect. Positive effect. It's going to be a positive, not a negative." "I know how committed you are to this," continued Trump. "It must be hard for you to spend 25 years talking about tariffs as being negative and then have somebody explain to you that you're totally wrong." As the audience broke into laughter, Micklethwait tried in vain to reassert himself, insinuating that 40 million jobs dependent on trade might be lost on account of the tariffs. "You ready? John Deere. Great company. They announced about a year ago they're going to build big plants outside of the United States," said Trump. "They're going to build them in Mexico." "That's right. I said, 'If John Deere builds those plants, they're not selling anything into the United States,'" added Trump. Following the Bloomberg interview, the Wall Street Journal indicated John Deere has not yet axed its Mexican ambitions; however, Trump's potential re-election might prompt a rethinking of the company's extra-national focus. Micklethwait suggested further that Trump's proposed tariffs could undermine American foreign policy, in part by upsetting allies and "dividing" the West. "How does it help you take on China turning all of your allies against you?" asked the editor. "Tremendously because China thinks we're a stupid country, a very stupid country. They can't believe that somebody finally got wise to them," said Trump. "Not one president charged China anything. They said, 'Oh, they are a third-world nation. They are developing.' Well, we're a developing nation, too. Take a look at Detroit. Take a look at our cities. ... We have to develop more than they do." "Our allies have taken advantage of us more so than our enemies," continued the president, citing the European Union nations, Japan, and South Korea as countries that have benefited from other presidents' reluctance to impose tariffs. After several unsuccessful attempts to extract concessions from Trump on the topic of tariffs, Micklethwait suggested the Republicans' promises to drop taxes will cost trillions of dollars. "You're flooding the thing with giveaways. I was actually quite kind to you. I used $7 trillion. The upper estimate [for the cost of the promises] is $15 trillion. People like the Wall Street Journal, who's hardly a communist organization, they have criticized you on this as well," said the editor. "What does the Wall Street Journal know?" responded Trump. "They've been wrong about everything. So have you, by the way." Once again, the audience — apparently out of touch with the thinking of liberal bloggers — broke into laughter. "You're trying to turn this — you're trying to turn this into debate," said Micklethwait, growing visibly flustered. "You're wrong," replied Trump. "You've been wrong all your life on this stuff." A Philadelphia Popeyes employee stabbed a customer in self-defense after an argument over a food order turned physical late Tuesday night, police told WPVI-TV.Police told the station the incident took place just before midnight in the 6000 block of North Broad Street; officials noted to WPVI there were roughly eight employees in the store at the time.Police said the employee so far isn't being charged."The 28-year-old customer had some sort of dispute with employees over a food order and began attacking and assaulting one of the employees," Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department told the station. "Other employees intervened and tried to push this 28-year-old out — back out from the front door. That's when the 34-year-old employee getting assaulted and attacked pulled a knife and stabbed the 28-year-old."WPVI reported that the male was stabbed multiple times in the torso and head.The male ran away after the stabbing, but police told the station they followed a blood trail to a nearby house where they found him. WPVI said the customer was taken to a hospital where he's in stable condition and in police custody The Popeyes employee remained on scene and was cooperating with detectives, the station said, adding that police said the employee so far isn't being charged.Police added to WPVI that the entire incident was recorded on surveillance video.How are observers reacting?Commenters underneath WPVI's video posted to YouTube appeared incredulous — and sometimes sarcastic — over the incident:"Not only is fast food bad for you, these days it can be fatal," one commenter wrote."Over fried chicken," another commenter noted.
