Soros-backed Haitian group calls for Trump, Vance’s arrest over Springfield pet-eating comments: ‘Devastating harm’

The Haitian Bridge Alliance filed criminal charges against Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), on Tuesday over claims they made that Haitian nationals in Springfield, Ohio, are eating locals’ pets and wildlife. The group has reportedly received funding in the past from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, according to a 2021 press release from the grant-making network.'President Trump is rightfully highlighting the failed immigration system.'The HBA is calling for the arrest of Trump and Vance “stemming from the baseless and malicious comments made against our Haitian community,” the group stated in a Tuesday press release about the filed charges.“Both Trump and Vance led an effort to vilify and threaten the Haitian community in Springfield. Together, they spread and amplified the debunked claim that Haitian immigrants in Springfield are eating pets including cats, dogs, and wildlife,” HBA claimed.According to the group, Trump and Vance “committed multiple crimes,” and it is asking the court to affirm probable cause and issue arrest warrants.Guerline Jozef, executive director of HBA, accused Trump and Vance of inflicting “devastating harm” against the Haitian community in Springfield. The HBA blamed the politicians for recent bomb threats and “racially charged threats” in the Springfield area. “Thirty-three bomb threats have been alleged across Springfield within the last two weeks. Hospitals, schools, universities, and government offices were all evacuated after receiving racially charged threats. Springfield government officials and their families received threats. Trump and Vance’s lies have harmed the Springfield community, and their lies have violated criminal law,” Jozef stated.“HBA is non-partisan, this is not about one candidate or political party,” Jozef continued. “This is about confronting white supremacy, anti-Black rhetoric, and hate speech that seems to be a constant in U.S. politics and that continues to cause suffering. No one is above the law.”Subodh Chandra, lead counsel in the lawsuit, said, “The Haitian community is suffering in fear because of Trump and Vance’s relentless, irresponsible, false alarms, and public services have been disrupted.”Chandra called for Trump and Vance to be “held accountable.”“Anyone else who wreaked havoc the way they did would have been arrested by now,” Chandra claimed.Vance has previously told reporters that many locals reached out to him, claiming that Haitian nationals have been swiping up wildlife and pets. During recent city meetings, several residents have raised concerns about the approximately 20,000 immigrant arrivals, with the majority expressing frustrations over the uptick in traffic accidents caused by unlicensed Haitian drivers.Karoline Leavitt, Trump campaign spokeswoman, told the Daily Caller News Foundation, “President Trump is rightfully highlighting the failed immigration system that Kamala Harris has overseen, bringing thousands of illegal immigrants pouring into communities like Springfield and many others across the country.”“President Trump will secure our border and put an end to the chaos that illegal immigration brings to our communities,” Leavitt added. The HBA cited Ohio law, R.C. 2935.09, which permits private citizens to file an affidavit for criminal charges. However, a hearing must take place before such affidavits can proceed.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Trump says Iran has tried to assassinate him — ‘and they will try again’

Republican former President Donald Trump revealed that the Iranian government has allegedly tried to assassinate him, and security has been increased as a result. Trump made the revelation from his social media accounts on Tuesday. 'An attack on a former President is a Death Wish for the attacker!' "Big threats on my life by Iran. The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. Moves were already made by Iran that didn’t work out, but they will try again," he wrote. "Not a good situation for anyone," he added. "I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before." He went on to thank Congress for passing a motion to increase security for him with no votes against the proposal. "Nice to see Republicans and Democrats get together on something. An attack on a former President is a Death Wish for the attacker!" he added. The Trump campaign also said in a statement that the former president had been briefed by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence about the threat meant to "destabilize and sow chaos in the United States." The campaign went on to say that the threat had "heightened in the past few months." There has been no evidence of Iranian involvement in either of the two assassination attempts on Trump's life. Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina used the revelation to press for action against the regime in Iran. "Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the eyes of a bipartisan majority in the U.S.," said Graham on social media. "President Biden and Vice President Harris are doing nothing to respond to this outrage. I will act because if we don’t act now, this will become the norm against American democracy."Like Blaze News? HS guidance counselor allegedly committed 'series of sexual assaults' against teen; police say there may be more victims

A former high school guidance counselor in California has been charged with sexually assaulting a teen student. Police believe there may be additional victims.Julie Tichon, 37, committed a “series of sexual assaults” against a 16-year-old male in February and March, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release.'Educators and school staff have a fundamental duty to create a safe environment for all students, and when that trust is broken, it affects the entire community.'Before the allegations, Tichon had been a guidance counselor at YULA High School — the largest and oldest modern Orthodox Yeshiva high school in Los Angeles.Tichon was charged with three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and one count of oral copulation with a person under the age of 18. If convicted as charged, Tichon could be sentenced to up to five years in prison. While she's charged with assaulting one victim, police said they believe there could be additional victims, which “could potentially add to the criminal case.”On May 28, YULA Head of School Rabbi Arye Sufrin sent an email notifying parents that he had received reports of a female staff member having “an inappropriate relationship of a sexual nature” with two male students, according to Forward, which said it obtained the email. The school notified the LAPD about the child sex abuse accusations.“The suspect used her position of responsibility to gain these victims’ trust then began inappropriate sexual relationships with them,” Detective Russ Hess said in the LAPD press release. “Rather than advising them, she was abusing them.”School officials told KTTV-TV their "highest priority is the safety and wellness of our students. Out of respect and sensitivity for the privacy of our school community, we are not going to discuss details related to the recent news reports." School officials noted that they are fully cooperating with the police investigation.Tichon had worked at YULA High School for four years but is no longer employed there, according to officials. “Educators and school staff have a fundamental duty to create a safe environment for all students, and when that trust is broken, it affects the entire community,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. “Our office is dedicated to seeking justice for the victim and holding this individual fully accountable.”Gascón continued, “To every victim and family affected by such crimes, please know that we stand with you and will continue to fight for your safety and justice.” Tichon pleaded not guilty during her Thursday arraignment. The Los Angeles Superior Court released Tichon on her own recognizance; she's scheduled back in court Nov. 1.Anyone with information regarding the child sex crime case is asked to contact Detective Hess at 213-473-0561 or the Los Angeles Police Department at 877-LAPD-247. Q2 Mac shipments were flat, but new M4 Macs promise strong growth

A new report from Canalys reveals that Mac shipments last quarter remained relatively flat year over year. While some manufacturers like Lenovo saw shipments jump by as much as 7.7%, Mac shipments increased by just 0.5 percent. To put that into perspective, Apple shipped 2.32 million Macs in Q2 2024. By comparison, Apple shipped 2.31 million Macs in the same quarter last year. The overall PC market, meanwhile, saw a bit more action last quarter. Specifically, PC shipments for the quarter increased by 3.7% year over year. Mac shipments made up 12.3% of the total PC market share for the quarter. Leading up the pack were HP and Dell, with 26.5% and 24% market shares, respectively. Notably, revenue from Mac sales has remained somewhat steady over the last 2 years. Since 2023, Apple’s quarterly Mac revenue has hovered between $6.8 and $7.7 billion. Not surprisingly, 2021 and 2022 were record-setting years for Mac-based revenue due to Apple dropping its M1-powered Mac lineup. Those devices included a new MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini, and a completely redesigned iMac which all launched between November 2020 and May 2021. This, of course, was followed by the release of the M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro models in October of 2021. This shift from Intel processors to Apple Silicon a few years ago naturally sparked an avalanche of upgrades. Predictably, consumers flocked to Apple’s new hardware, which offered improved efficiency and jaw-dropping performance. In Q4 of 2022, for instance, Mac revenue hit a record-breaking $11.5 billion. New M4 Macs are on the horizon While it remains to be seen if Apple’s quarterly revenue will reach those heights again, Apple’s foot remains fixed on the gas. Looking ahead, Apple will reportedly hold a special event in October where it will unveil four brand new M4-based Macs. That list includes a brand new iMac, a Mac mini, and refreshed 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Apple’s M3 iMac hit stores last October so it will be interesting to see if Apple starts implementing a more aggressive upgrade schedule for the iMac. Recall that it took Apple more than two years to refresh its M1 iMac, which was released in April 2021.
