All Talk No Game&;#63; Musk Caves After Pledging to Protect Free Speech

Tech mogul Elon Musk has folded in his so-called defense of free speech in his recent battle with a Brazilian court. On Monday‚ Musk's attorneys informed Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes that social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) will comply with all of the censorship demands targeting accounts accused of spreading misinformation‚ according to Reuters. &;quot;As already communicated to the federal police‚ X Brasil informs that all orders issued by this Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court will continue to be fully complied with by X Corp‚&;quot; Musk’s legal counsel reportedly wrote in the letter addressed to Moraes. Musk’s compliance marks a stark departure from his vehement threats to ignore the orders. “We are lifting all restrictions‚” Musk declared on April 6‚ accusing the Moraes of threatening X with fines and imprisonment. “As a result‚ we will probably lose all revenue in Brazil and have to shut down our office there. But principles matter more than profit.” Related: UPDATE: Are You Paying Attention&;#63; Brazil Escalates Major Free Speech Assault The battle between X and de Moraes stems from an inquiry by Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court that centers on the spread of what the government deemed to be misinformation amid federal elections. In court rulings‚ Moraes accused X of allowing some popular Brazil-based users to spread so-called misinformation. In turn‚ he demanded Musk censor them. In court decisions‚ Moraes accused X of being a major driver of alleged misinformation and demanded Musk censor these users. Amid Musk’s initial refusal to comply with such demands‚ Moraes threatened to impose daily fines of $20‚000 for each account not banned. Last week‚ the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court declined to respond to MRC’s request for comment on Musk’s refusal to comply with the orders. Instead‚ a court spokesperson directed MRC to a criminal referral directing the county’s attorney general to investigate Musk for potential obstruction of justice. Before Monday‚ Musk had hurled scathing comments at the Brazilian assault against its citizens’ free speech. “The severity of the censorship and the degree to which Brazil’s own laws are being broken‚ to the detriment of their own people‚ is the worst of any country in the world in which this platform operates‚” he wrote on April 10. Hours earlier that same day‚ Musk declared that X respected the Brazilian laws but said the company “must refuse” to comply with orders that break the law. His remarks likely refer to earlier characterizations of Morae’s orders as lacking legitimate legal basis.  𝕏 respects the laws of Brazil and all countries in which we operate. When given an order to break the law‚ we must refuse. https://t.co/vLuFUP9gN8 — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 10‚ 2024 Conservatives are under attack. 'Shocks the conscience': New Planned Parenthood report shows how many abortions provided while receiving taxpayer money

Planned Parenthood is performing a record number of abortions.This week‚ Planned Parenthood released its 2022–2023 annual report disclosing data on services provided for the year 2021–2022. In just that single year‚ Planned Parenthood ended the lives of 392‚715 unborn children through abortion‚ or an average of approximately 1‚076 unborn children per day.Planned Parenthood abortions‚ then‚ are the fourth-leading cause of death in the U.S. for that year‚ behind only heart disease‚ cancer‚ and COVID-related deaths. The organization described its efforts as &;quot;a year of moving mountains.&;quot;The number of abortions in 2021–2022 is an increase of more than 18‚000 compared to the previous year. That increase came despite the fact that Planned Parenthood saw fewer patients in the reported year — more than 80‚000 fewer in 2021–2022 compared to 2020–2021. The organization also performed fewer Pap smears and breast exams and distributed fewer contraceptives.But what about adoptions&;#63; Planned Parenthood only made 1‚721 adoption referrals for the reported year — or about one per 228 abortions.Meanwhile‚ Planned Parenthood reported receiving nearly $700 million in revenue from the government in the form of reimbursements and grants. That equates to one-third of Planned Parenthood's total revenue. Marjorie Dannenfelser‚ president of SBA Pro-Life America‚ said the report &;quot;shocks the conscience.&;quot;&;quot;Planned Parenthood's business is abortion‚ abortion and more abortion‚&;quot; Dannenfelser explained. &;quot;Just like their hero Margaret Sanger‚ their ‘solution’ to the struggle of families to keep their heads above water is to kill their children and let the abortion industry rake in record profits.&;quot;Michael New‚ an assistant professor at Catholic University and scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute‚ said the annual report debunks Planned Parenthood's public-relations narrative that it is a health care organization.New wrote in National Review:Planned Parenthood wants to be viewed as a health-care provider and not an abortion clinic. Their spokespeople frequently cite the misleading statistic that abortion represents only 3 percent of Planned Parenthood’s services. However‚ these annual reports provide a much different — and more much accurate — narrative. Planned Parenthood continues to perform more abortions while providing fewer health-care services. This is helpful information as pro-lifers continue our efforts to defund Planned Parenthood at both the state and the federal levels.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Soros-backed DA Pamela Price will face recall vote

George Soros-funded Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price (D) will face a recall vote this year after campaigns targeting the soft-on-crime DA collected enough signatures to make it onto the ballot.The groups behind the recall effort submitted 123‚000 signatures to election officials in early March. The campaigns only needed approximately 73‚000 verified signatures to trigger a special election.On Monday‚ the Alameda County registrar of voters announced that enough verified signatures were collected to launch a recall vote. Following a manual review‚ the registrar found that 74‚757 of the signatures were valid‚ while nearly 49‚000 were invalid‚ KQED reported. The county's board of supervisors will need to determine when to hold the recall election. A date must be decided within 14 days of the registrar completing the signature validation process. It is unclear whether the county will hold a separate special election‚ which would cost around $20 million‚ or if the recall vote will be consolidated with the regularly scheduled election in November to save funds.Leaders of the effort to oust Price have blamed her progressive policies for the increase in criminal activity in Oakland.Price promised to radically reform the criminal justice system‚ reduce mass incarceration‚ end the death penalty‚ and prohibit minors from being charged as adults.Since Price has been in office‚ many Oakland businesses have closed down due to the area's rampant crime.Carl Chan‚ one of the recall's leaders‚ stated in March that the petition to remove Price is &;quot;not about politics‚ but about public safety.&;quot;Brenda Grisham‚ another leader of the recall effort‚ said‚ &;quot;We shouldn't have to do this‚ but for the safety of our community‚ the safety of our children‚ the safety of our businesses‚ this is something that had to be done. This is a right for the citizens of Alameda County.&;quot;Under Price's leadership‚ multiple veteran prosecutors have resigned‚ citing an inability to perform their job duties. Even the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's Oakland branch has accused Price of creating a &;quot;doom-loop‚&;quot; slamming her &;quot;progressive policies and failed leadership.&;quot;A spokesperson for Price's Protect the Win campaign previously claimed that the DA would win a recall vote. However‚ Price's campaign has since become so low on money that it allowed the contract with its campaign manager to expire‚ KQED reported.Price‚ during a July interview with local news‚ claimed that her role as DA &;quot;has really no impact on crime.&;quot; She has called those who support the recall effort &;quot;election deniers.&;quot;&;quot;We had an election. We won the election by an overwhelming majority. It wasn't a small‚ close election and so the people who lost‚ they lost‚ and when you lose an election‚ you shouldn't be able to overturn the will of the voters. That's what happened during the insurrection on Jan. 6‚&;quot; Price stated last year.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. This 301-acre historical area features cobblestone streets and hundreds of meticulously restored and recreated buildings from the 18th century when Williamsburg was the capital of the colony of Virginia and named in honor of King William III. Williamsburg was a revolutionary hotbed‚ where anti-British sentiment festered and the protests against Britain's Stamp Act spawned the &;quot;no taxation without representation&;quot; movement. In 1776‚ Virginia's Declaration of Rights was introduced by George Mason in Williamsburg and called for American independence from Britain. Thomas Jefferson drew inspiration from the declaration and used it as inspiration when drafting the United States Bill of Rights. There is no shortage of attractions that are a quick drive or a day trip away from Williamsburg: Another town preserved from the colonial era is Smithfield‚ Virginia. You can visit Fort Mackinac‚ the fortification built by the British during the American Revolution. Americans captured the fort in 1796‚ but the English recaptured it during the first land engagement of the War of 1812 in the United States. Fort Mackinac was returned to the U.S. after the war. You can also see Fort Holmes‚ which was a small British outpost that was constructed after the Americans captured Fort Mackinac. Get your camera ready to snap a photo of Arch Rock — a stunning natural limestone formation located 146 feet above the shores of Lake Huron. Explore the many historic lighthouses that stand high above the rugged coastline. Several restaurants on the San Juan Islands pride themselves on offering sustainable farm-to-table dining. The restaurant chefs focus on seasonal ingredients that are sourced directly from farms‚ orchards‚ and fisheries on the islands. St. Augustine‚ Florida SeanPavonePhoto via Getty Images Near the northeast coast of Florida sits St. Augustine — the oldest city in the country. St. Augustine — also known as the &;quot;Ancient City&;quot; and the &;quot;Old City&;quot; — was founded by Spanish explorers in 1565 and is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the continental United States. One of the most iconic tourist attractions in St. Augustine is the Castillo de San Marcos fort. This star-shaped fortification was constructed by the Spanish Empire in 1695‚ making it the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. The defensive fort is situated on the western shore of Matanzas Bay and is constructed from coquina — a form of limestone composed of shell fragments and coral. Over the years‚ the fort has been occupied by the Spanish‚ British‚ and Americans. The Castillo de San Marcos fort is now a national monument for visitors to harken back to the days of cannons and the Spanish colonial rule of Florida. Another famous St. Augustine attraction is the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park. According to legend‚ Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Le&;oacute;n touched ground in the area of St. Augustine in search of a mythical spring that was said to provide eternal youth to those who drank from it. One of the eye-catching buildings in the Floridian city is Flagler College — named after Henry Morrison Flagler‚ a prominent industrialist‚ railroad magnate‚ co-founder of Standard Oil‚ and early developer of Florida's Atlantic coast in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. St. Augustine welcomes visitors with inviting cafes‚ shops‚ and restaurants. Sugar sand beaches and sapphire waters await beachgoers at nearby St. Augustine Beach and Anastasia State Park. Travelers can drive 40 miles north to visit Jacksonville. Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here&;#33;

Bold move: Josh Hawley demands that Biden's energy secretary resign

The Biden administration is in hot water after Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) called for the resignation of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. Hawley called her the face of “institutionalized corruption” at the department‚ because the energy secretary has a well-documented history of owning stocks without proper disclosure. “I just want to know who really runs the Energy Department‚” Hawley said angrily during a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing on Tuesday. “Is it you or the mega-corporations whose stock that you own that you’re making profit in&;#63;” And Hawley had the receipts. “I asked you point-blank‚ ‘Do you own any individual stock&;#63;’ And you told me ‘No‚’” Hawley recalled. “Madam Secretary‚ you said no. In fact‚ you repeated it three times to me. No‚ no‚ no. Turns out that was false. You did own multiple individual stocks‚ and you neglected to report it to this committee for months afterwards.” “Why did you mislead this committee&;#63;” he asked‚ before Granholm said she believed she had sold all individual stocks and that it “wasn’t a lie.” Hawley then reminded Granholm that she was under oath and pulled out a timeline of what she had actually done with the stocks — which wasn’t what she claimed. “It is outrageous that you’re going to conferences and events funded by foreign billionaires using dark money to try to influence our politics. This has got to change‚ and frankly‚ you should go‚” Hawley said. “She lies to the committee‚ and then she’s indignant being called on the carpet about it‚” Pat Gray says‚ astonished. “Yeah‚ because she’s out there pushing policies that she owns stock in‚” Keith Malinak says.
