First Apple robot details reportedly spotted at Foxconn

After a report revealing that Apple has ramped up work on a robot, most likely an iPad-like tablet with robotic arms and a speaker, it seems Foxconn could be responsible for manufacturing this product. According to Taiwan's United Daily News (via MacRumors), the Hongzhun factory in Taiwan will play a "critical role" in developing this device. This factory belongs to Foxconn. At this year's shareholder meeting, the company announced it will invest capital in new target areas, including robots and AI. With that, the company could be responsible for developing the mechanical parts and chassis of Appel's desktop robot. With previous experience with Foxconn's own robot, this could be a great business opportunity for this factory to be the key supply chain for Apple's upcoming robot devices. Previously, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that this Apple robot will feature a large, iPad-like display mounted on a “thin robotic arm.” It tilts and rotates a full 360º, serving as a “smart home command center,” a hub for FaceTime calls, and a home security monitoring tool. With a focus on Apple Intelligence and Siri, this device would recognize different voices in the house and perform a Center Stage-like feature to face users in the room whenever they speak to it. While Apple has been working on robotic home devices for some time now, Gurman says Apple has put Kevin Lynch, the company’s VP of technology, in charge of this project. Several hundred people are reportedly working on the device. With a possible release date between 2026 and 2027, Apple aims at the high-end market, as this iPad-like robotic home device would cost around $1,000. At this moment, the first Apple home robot runs a modified version of iPadOS, but other details are unclear. BGR will keep following the latest details on this future product as we learn more about it. Beyond the Shepherds: A Retired Woodshop Teacher's Take on Solving the Shugborough Hall's Enigmas

O·U·O·S·V·A·V·V D·                                             M· The Shepherd's Monument at Shugborough Hall, nestled in the serene English countryside of Staffordshire, proudly displays a ten-letter inscription that has long captivated the minds of code breakers and treasure hunters. This inscription, coupled with a sculpture of Nicolas Poussin's masterpiece, The Arcadian Shepherds, has ignited a thrilling intellectual pursuit, leaving history enthusiasts and code breakers eagerly anticipating the stimulating challenge of deciphering its mysteries. Shugborough Inscription: Wordplay for the Lords and Ladies, author Dan Mento has proposed three unique solutions to the mysteries of the monument, each carrying historical and linguistic implications. The first solution, DOUOSVAVVM, is a testament to the fleeting nature of life and the enduring power of language, solved using wordplay: anagrams, palindrome, and a macaronic phrase. The second solution, a geometric construct that forms the planet Saturn, reveals Thomas Wright of Durham as the monument's designer. The third solution, a Baconian-inspired anagram of Et In Arcadia Ego, not only unveils the hidden secret of Poussin's painting The Arcadian Shepherds but also reveals an anagram, the archaic Latin deai defined as goddesses, Greek Gaia described as Earth's goddess, and Greek Ceto, daughter of Gaia, represents a primordial sea goddess. Deai, Gaia, and Ceto allude to the author of the Shugborough Shepherd's inscription, Thomas Anson, and the monument's dedication to his brother, Admiral George Anson. 12th Century Picture Stone With Christian Figure Depiction Uncovered

During a routine construction project in the small village in Germany’s Klotzow, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, a 12th-century boulder with a carved depiction of a man was unearthed. This very surprising discovery is being hailed as one of the most extraordinary finds in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in recent years. The 900-year-old picture stone, a type of decorative slab commonly used in the Viking or Germanic periods, has an engraved image of a figure holding a cross over its midsection – likely, Bishop Otto von Bamberg, who was greatly involved in the Christianization of Pomeria. Unearthing the Ancient Stone The ancient stone was stumbled upon by Peter Wittenberg while he was digging around the foundation of his home near Anklam. The granite slab unearthed stands about one meter (3.28 feet) tall, 60 centimeters (1.96 feet) wide, and 40 centimeters (1.31 feet) deep. Picture stones, also known as image stones, were typically made from limestone and raised as memorials in Scandinavia during the Viking Age, according to a press release by Ministry of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs. Pioneering Talk Show Host Phil Donahue Dies At 88

Television host Phil Donahue died on August 18 at the age of 88. His family reported that he had suffered from a long illness. As host of ‘The Phil Donahue Show,’ he pioneered the first talk show that heavily featured audience participation.   On August 18, Phil Donahue died. He was 88 years old when he died, with no official cause of death currently confirmed, though his family said he had been suffering from a “long illness.” In a statement, his family also shares that he died “peacefully.” Donahue was the host of The Phil Donahue Show, later known simply as Donahue. The program marked the very first time a talk show included audience participation—and it was even encouraged by Donahue, who would reach out to audience members about a variety of topics. Winfrey categorized the genre of television that Donahue pioneered as “issue-driven straight talk.” The passing of Phil Donahue, a television pioneer DONAHUE, Phil Donahue (host),1967-1995 / Everett Collection “Groundbreaking TV talk show journalist Phil Donahue died Sunday night at home,” reads a statement from his family, which goes on to say he was “surrounded by his wife of 44 years Marlo Thomas, his sister, his children, grandchildren and his beloved golden retriever Charlie. Donahue was 88 years old and passed away peacefully following a long illness.” RELATED: In Memoriam — All The People We Lost In 2023 Donahue was born on December 21, 1935, in Cleaveland, Ohio, and began his career as a production assistant at KYW radio and television. One day, the usual announcer failed to show up, throwing the door wide open for Donahue to step in and begin that leg of his career. Revolutionizing television The future television pioneer started off on radio and gained rapid traction on the airwaves, landing important interviews / © AVCO Embassy Television /Courtesy Everett Collection After relocating to Daytona, Donahue hosted Conversation Piece, where he interviewed Malcolm X, Johnny Carson, and John F. Kennedy, when the latter was a presidential candidate. During his time in Chicago and New York City, Donahue would add Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, Noam Chomsky, and Elton John to his list of interviews. His series was picked up for syndication in 1969, and would reach over 200 stations across the U.S. While others in the genre would heavily feature celebrity chatter, notes Variety, Donahue conducted himself first and foremost as a journalist. After Donahue left WHIO in 1967, he brought The Phil Donahue Show to television, and while its reach was limited upon its televised premiere, by 1970, it was up for national syndication. The Phil Donahue Show would run for 29 seasons and air almost 7,000 episodes before ending in 1996. Before his program ended, he and Soviet journalist Vladimir Posner co-hosted a program of their own called the U.S.–Soviet Space Bridge, in which they interviewed citizens from the U.S. and Soviet Union; this was the first program of its kind in television history—a statement that can be attributed to a lot of what Donahue did. In the spirit of making the Cold War less frosty, “We reached out instead of lashed out.” In 2008, Donahue was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. In a speech presenting the honor to him, Oprah Winfrey praised, “He may not have invented talking to people on television, he just did it better than anyone who came before him. All of us who came after Phil Donahue owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude.” Donahue is survived by his second wife, Marlo Thomas, to whom he was married since 1980, along with five children from his first marriage. Rest in peace, Phil Donahue. Armed with a wireless mic, the host would approach audience members to get their input on a variety of hot-button issues / Everett Collection RELATED: Original ‘Hollywood Squares’ Host Peter Marshall Dies At 98 Click for next Article The post Pioneering Talk Show Host Phil Donahue Dies At 88 appeared first on DoYouRemember? - The Home of Nostalgia.
