An utter disaster. The brutal Soviets tried to tame Afghanistan. After ten long years THEY had to leave in disgrace. If they couldn't do it what the hell made the Bush/Cheney cabal think they could? 20 years, our troops, the Afghani people that DID try to help us, our squandered national treasury. Our international reputation. All in the proverbial toilet in a matter of weeks.
