Bob Dylan’s typewritten early draft of the “Mr. Tambourine Man” lyrics sold for $508,000 Saturday at Julien’s Auctions’ “Celebrating Bob Dylan: The Aronowitz Archive” featuring 60 Dylan items from the collection of late Rock journalist Al Aronowitz. The original version of the song was released in 1965 and was subsequently covered by numerous artists including The Byrds, who turned it into a jangling #1 pop hit. A Folk singer at the time, Dylan himself was partly influenced to record with electric instruments after hearing the Byrds’ version of his song. President-elect Donald Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery on Sunday on the eve of his second inauguration. Trump’s visit to Arlington marks the first time he has visited the solemn site since he attended a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the 13 service members who died during the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. One of those orders will be a stay on a ban of the Chinese-owned social media app TikTok from the U.S. Trump has sworn to hold off banning the app temporarily to give TikTok’s parent company Bytedance time to sell the platform to comply with legislation targeting the app’s Chinese ownership. “I’m asking companies not to let TikTok stay dark! I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the period of time before the law’s prohibitions take effect, so that we can make a deal to protect our national security. The order will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped keep TikTok from going dark before my order,” Trump announced in a post on Truth Social on Sunday.

President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to head the State Department may be on track for a Monday confirmation vote on Trump’s first day in office. Trump’s nominees continue to sail through the confirmation process as Democratic skeptics have failed to kill the momentum of any one nominee so far since former Rep. Matt Gaetz’s nomination to attorney general hit significant pushback. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Trump’s nominee to be the next Secretary of State, could be the first of Trump’s cabinet to be confirmed. Rubio garnered bipartisan support during his confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on January 15. Discussions are underway in the Senate now to decide whether to expedite the nomination process for Rubio to confirm his appointment on Monday after Trump’s inauguration into office as the 47th President of the United States, according to Politico. In order for Rubio to be confirmed on Monday, all 100 senators would have to agree under Senate rules to expedite the confirmation vote. A committee vote on Rubio’s nomination is scheduled for Monday, Senate Foreign Relations Chair Jim Risch of Idaho told Politico. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his intention to tap Moody for the role last week. “In every major battle we have had since I have been governor, she has been with us every step of the way — not just talk, it’s results,” DeSantis said, announcing Moody’s pick. “And these results are very, very important, and she understands the gravity of the moment.” Trump is scheduled to take the oath of office in the Capitol building Monday around noon.
