[WATCH] Elon Musk Explains Why He Endorsed Donald Trump For President

In an interview with Lex Fridman, Elon Musk explained why he endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. “What’s your philosophy behind that endorsement? What do you hope Donald Trump does for the future of this country and for the future of humanity?” Fridman asked. “I thought Trump displayed courage under fire, objectively. He just got shot. He’s got blood streaming down his face, and he’s fist pumping, saying ‘fight.’ That’s impressive. You can’t feign bravery in a situation like that,” Musk said. “I think you want someone who is strong and courageous to represent the country,” he continued. “But on balance, and certainly at the time, it was a choice of Biden. Poor guy has trouble climbing a flight of stairs, and the other one is fist pumping after getting shot. This is no comparison. I mean who do you want dealing with some of the toughest people and other world leaders who are pretty tough themselves?” Musk explained. “I think we want a secure border. We don’t have a secure border,” he noted. “We want safe and clean cities,” he added. “I think we want to reduce the amount of spending we’re, at least, slow down the spending because we’re currently spending at a rate that is bankrupting the country,” he continued. “I think we’ve got to reduce the size of government, we’ve got to reduce the spending, and we’ve got to live within our means,” he said. This is no comparison.” 4. Musk wants “a secure border. We don’t have a secure border.” 5. He wants someone who can deliver “safe and clean cities.” 6. Musk Thinks Trump is the better candidate to reduce spending. He’s concerned about this issue because “we’re currently spending at a rate that is bankrupting the country.” 7. Musk aligns with Trump’s vision to cut bureaucratic bloat. He wants someone who will “reduce the size of government.” Pretty convincing list, wouldn’t you agree? “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk previously said. I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery pic.twitter.com/ZdxkF63EqF — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 13, 2024 Per Reuters: Musk, who has been ramping up criticism of U.S. President Joe Biden, has donated to a political group working to elect Trump, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing sources. The South African-born businessman’s sway stands to benefit Trump, since Musk has one of the largest footprints on X with 189.5 million followers, meaning his posts can instantaneously spread widely. Musk has said he previously voted for Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton as well as Biden. However, in the last few years, Musk has espoused right-wing views, becoming a fierce critic of diversity initiatives, Biden’s immigration policies and complaining that Democrats had given a “very cold shoulder” to Tesla and his rocket company SpaceX. In March, Trump, who is expected to be formally nominated next week as the Republican Party’s candidate for the Nov. 5 election, reportedly met with Musk and other wealthy donors. BREAKING: Supreme Court Rejects Bid To Postpone Trump Sentencing In New York Trial

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to consider Missouri’s bid to block Donald Trump’s sentencing in his New York hush money witch-hunt until after the presidential election. I will continue to prosecute our lawsuit against @KamalaHarris @JoeBiden’s DOJ for coordinating the illicit prosecutions against President Trump,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said. It’s disappointing that the Supreme Court refused to exercise its constitutional responsibility to resolve state v. state disputes. I will continue to prosecute our lawsuit against @KamalaHarris @JoeBiden’s DOJ for coordinating the illicit prosecutions against President Trump — Attorney General Andrew Bailey (@AGAndrewBailey) August 5, 2024 Per NBC News: The court rejected Missouri’s bid to sue the state of New York, meaning the justices will not lift the gag order or delay sentencing in the unusual claim brought by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, a Republican who is running for a full term this fall. Many commentators said the filing was more of a political stunt aimed at gaining publicity than a serious legal claim. The brief order noted that two conservative justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, would have allowed the state to at least file its lawsuit directly at the Supreme Court although they would not grant the emergency relief that Bailey wanted. That tracks their approach in similar cases involving one state suing another. Trump was convicted of 34 counts for falsifying business records related to payments made to attorney Michael Cohen as reimbursement for hush money payments to adult film star Storm Daniels in the closing days of the 2016 campaign. Daniels testified she had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006, which he has denied. The Supreme Court refused to intervene in the NY criminal conviction of Donald Trump for hiding hush-money payments, rejecting a long-shot bid by Missouri and other GOP-led states to delay the former president’s sentencing until after the election. https://t.co/9RSEOwQTIp — Bloomberg (@business) August 5, 2024 The sentencing is scheduled for September 18th. From The Hill: He has vowed to appeal, but Trump is first slated to be sentenced just weeks before the election, unless his trial judge tosses the verdict because of the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity decision. Bailey accused New York of violating Missourians’ First Amendment rights and interfering with the presidential election in the state. By suing the state directly, Bailey forced New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) to defend Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) prosecution of the former president. James’s office told the justices to turn away the suit, criticizing it for containing “bare assertions of bad faith” and arguing it wasn’t an actual controversy between two states. Though James was not involved in Trump’s criminal case, she is a visible foe for the former president, having taken him to civil trial and winning hundreds of millions of dollars in damages over accusations of fraud earlier this year.
