Crease-free iPhone Fold hinge design might be impossible

A few days ago, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple would use liquid metal in the hinges of the upcoming iPhone Fold. According to his research, "Apple is focused on improving durability, enhancing screen flatness, and minimizing crease marks in its foldable iPhone design. To achieve these goals, key components like the hinges will be crafted from liquid metal using a die-casting process." The analyst said Apple had previously used liquid metal for small components, such as SIM ejector pins, for years. Apparently, the iPhone Fold will mark the first significant use of the material in a critical mechanical part. Moreover, Android manufacturers might also start taking advantage of this manufacturing process. Now, Weibo leaker Instant Digital (via MacRumors) gives a better look at this technology. He says this liquid metal hinge, which he calls metallic glass (amorphous metal), has better resistance to bending, deformation, and depressions while being up to 2.5x more resistant than titanium alloy. It also has a premium finish, which Instant Digital calls close to the sense of stainless steel. Interestingly enough, while previous rumors suggested Apple wanted to create a crease-free design for this iPhone Fold, the leaker believes it's "impossible." Still, it doesn't mean Apple won't do anything it can to make it less visible. A previous report said: “Apple has made the decision to eliminate creases completely, regardless of cost, in order to differentiate their foldable phone from existing models,” an insider told ETNews. “It is understood that they have successfully achieved this by using new materials that prevent creases from forming on the display.” It’s unclear what these materials are. The report provides another interesting detail about the iPhone Fold design. Fixing the crease doesn’t only mean fixing the foldable screen. It also means looking at how the screen connects to the hinge below it and the ultra-thin glass on top.  Apparently, Apple has found a way to prevent creasing by looking at the problem holistically. The report also says Apple has encouraged cooperation between the various parts suppliers. The iPhone Fold is expected to be announced next year or in early 2027 with a price point of at least $2,000. Here’s why the iPad 11 doesn’t have Apple Intelligence

Here’s why the iPad 11 doesn’t have Apple Intelligence

Before Apple introduced it, rumors suggested it could be the best iPad or a boring update; unfortunately, Apple chose the second option. However, new CIRP research (via 9to5Mac) might have revealed why Cupertino went with a mild update instead of powering up the iPad 11 with Apple Intelligence and better specs. According to the charts, sales of Apple's base-model iPads have grown significantly since the company introduced the 10th-generation model. In 2023, the entry-level iPad represented 30% of all iPad sales; in the year before, it was 21%, and in 2021, 15%. In 2024, the market share rose once again to 38%. Although Apple didn’t update any iPads in 2023, the launch of the iPad 10 the year before—along with the more affordable iPad 9—likely helped boost sales of these models. In 2024, the iPad mini represented only 9% of the market share, followed by the iPad Air with 15% and the base model and iPad Pro versions with 38% each. Still, it's better for Apple to sell crazy-expensive iPad Pro models than the cheapest versions. Image source: CIRP This is why I think Apple held back on Apple Intelligence on this iPad. After all, the new 11th-generation iPad continues to be a solid model thanks to a more capable processor, great cameras, and good battery life. However, if customers want to take advantage of Apple Intelligence features for taking notes, studying, and more, they need to pay extra and get a more powerful iPad. It's important to note that Apple Intelligence hasn't been helping to improve iPhone sales, so it's likely not helping iPad models either. Nonetheless, there are other benefits to an Apple device that's AI-ready: Better specs. If Apple sold an iPad with 8GB of RAM, at least 128GB of storage, and the A17 Pro chip or newer for around $400, it would be an instant hit, which could continue to cannibalize sales of other, more expensive models. With that in mind, a new generation is likely still a few years away, or at least until Apple can make these more expensive iPads more valuable with other exclusive features. Coconut Bread

Coconut Bread

Coconut Bread is soft, moist, and full of coconut flavor, topped with a sweet coconut glaze for the perfect finishing touch! A QUICK SWEET BREAD Let’s be honest, this Coconut Bread is just coconut cake in bread form – HA! It is so flipping good though! This soft, slightly sweet loaf is bursting with rich coconut flavor in every bite, making it perfect for breakfast, an afternoon snack, and of course, dessert! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:  What if I can’t find Coconut Cake Mix? If you can’t find coconut cake mix, you could get a French vanilla cake mix and add a couple of teaspoons of coconut extract to it (or more, to taste). Do you serve this warm or room temp? It’s really good served while still warm or at room temperature. Can I make this with other flavors? Yes! Use this same method to make any flavor “bread” you’d like! How can I amp up the coconut flavor? If you want to amp up the coconut flavor even more, add ½ cup more coconut flakes to the cake batter itself, OR use coconut cream instant pudding mix in place of vanilla, however it can be hard to find. Do I have to use the glaze? The glaze is optional but really – why would you not want to add it! If you don’t have coconut extract or don’t want to buy it, you can leave it out. Does this Coconut Bread freeze well? This recipe does make two loaves and they do freeze well. So, you could make one now and freeze one for later. I know most people only own one loaf pan so you could make one, let it cool then make the second one. Can I make this as a cake instead? Sure thing, this could obviously be made as a cake as well. Just follow the baking times on the back of the box for a 9×13-inch cake. Always bake on the middle rack.  Can I make one larger loaf instead? Let me preface this with I haven’t tested this yet, but I knew someone was going to ask this, so I wanted to address it with the info I currently have from recipe testing. So, I am thinking you could make one large loaf if you have a deep loaf pan, but, I haven’t tested it yet because I was worried it might bubble over but it could work. Stay tuned as I am still testing this variation out myself. I’ll share more info as I test it out more. How do I store leftovers? Keep leftover bread at room temperature for up to 5 days. Additionally, you can freeze it for up to 3 months. INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE) coconut cake mix– You can use any coconut cake mix that you like (I am loving Dolly Parton’s mixes at the moment!) You are not making it to the box’s instructions on the box. You only want to use the ingredients that I list here or it won’t turn out properly. instant vanilla pudding mix– or you can use coconut cream instant pudding mix. Be sure you are grabbing the instant pudding type of pudding. The Cook and Serve stuff won’t set up properly. water sweetened coconut flakes– I know some people don’t like coconut flakes,if that’s you, just leave them out. However, if you’re the person who likes coconut flakes only if they’re toasted, feel free to toast them first. This can change the texture which may be something you enjoy. If you are leaving out the shredded coconut, I would definitely use a coconut cream instant pudding mix instead of the vanilla to bring that coconut flavor. Although I will say, I have a really hard time finding the coconut cream instant pudding near me. So if you can find it great, if not, then just go with the coconut cake mix, it will still be great! vegetable oil large eggs powdered sugar milk coconut extract– this is usually pretty easy to find, for me at least. Check your grocery store aisles where they store the vanilla extract. vanilla extract HOW TO MAKE COCONUT BREAD: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray two 9×5-inch loaf pans with baking spray and set aside. In a large bowl with an electric hand mixer or in the body of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, water, half of the coconut flakes, oil, and eggs until smooth. Divide the batter between the two loaf pans and bake on the middle rack for 32-37 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then take them out and cool on a wire rack. Once they are cool, make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, 3 Tablespoons of milk, coconut extract, and vanilla extract until smooth. The glaze should be thick yet pourable; add up to 1 Tablespoon more of the milk if it is too thick. Pour the glaze evenly over the two loaves and sprinkle the remaining coconut on top. Serve immediately or allow the glaze to sit and harden slightly. AI Brings Suzanne Somers Back To Life For Widower Alan Hamel

It is never easy to lose a loved one, but technology has given Alan Hamel an unexpected way to reconnect with his late wife, Suzanne Somers. The legendary actress, who passed away in October 2023, was revived with the help of artificial intelligence, allowing Hamel to reunite with her once again. Realbotix Corp developed this unique AI-driven venture with Hollo AI. They created a robot replica of Somers that not only appears to look like her but even sounds like her and speaks her words and phrases in patterns modelled on her past recordings, interviews, and videos. Developers working on the project claim that they’re making something no one else has ever created; they are blending conversation AI and robots to bring back a public figure in a way that feels like they are alive. Suzanne Somers’ robot reminisces on sweet memories with Alan Hamel Alan Hamel and his wife, Suzanne Somers/Instagram Somers’ robotic twin had a conversation with Hamel at an on-stage demonstration, reflecting on their 55 years of life, love, and laughter and remembering happy times. One quite warm moment was shared when Hamel asked the robot about their fondest memory. Without hesitation, the AI recalled a cooking show they had recorded together. A small kitchen mishap involving a blender turned into a comedy moment, and they both ended up covered in smoothies. The memory became an inside joke between the two, one which they shared for years. Alan Hamel and his wife, Suzanne Somers/Imagecollect How did Suzanne Somers, wife of Alan Hamel, die? While the AI project may have created Suzanne Somers’ robot, the reality of her passing remains. She struggled with breast cancer for over twenty years, but unfortunately, in the months leading up to her death, the cancer returned and spread to her brain. Somers passed away at home on October 15, 2023, one day before her 77th birthday.
