Geezer Butler reveals which is one of his favorite Sabbath songs

The legendary Black Sabbath co-founder, main lyricist and bassist Geezer Butler is currently promoting his autobiography "Into The Void" and he revealed in an interview with Rock Cellar which is one of his favorite deep cuts from the band. The track chosen was "A National Acrobat". "I think maybe 'A National Acrobat' from the 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' album. The lyrics were a bit extreme, to say the least. I wrote the riff for the first part, and I loved the way Tony carried on from what I’d done. He took a totally different direction. I really love that song," Geezer Butler said. As the musician explained, the track was featured on their classic fifth studio album "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", released in 1973. Although it is one of the best songs from that album, it was overshadowed by tracks like "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" and "Sabbra Cadabra". That album performed well on the charts, peaking at number 4 on the United Kingdom Albums chart and number 11 on the United States Billboard 200. Hear "A National Acrobat" and read the lyrics below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcLRrG0W9hE&pp=ygUSYSBuYXRpb25hbCBhY3JvYmF0 "I am the world that hides the universal secret of all time Destruction of the empty spaces is my one and only crime I've lived a thousand times I found out what it means to be believed The thoughts and images The unborn child who never was conceived When little worlds collide I'm trapped inside my embryonic cell And flashing memories Are cast into the never ending well The name that scorns the face The child that never sees the cause of man The deathly darkness that Belies the face of those who never ran You got believe it, I'm talking to you Well, I know it's hard for you to know the reason why And I know you'll understand when it's time to die Don't believe the life you have will be the only one You have to let your body sleep to let your soul live on I want you to listen, I'm trying to get through Love has given life to you and now it's your concern Unseen eye of inner life will make your soul return Still, I look but not to touch The seeds of life are sown Curtain of the future falls The secret stays unknown Just remember love is life And hate is living death Treat your life for what its worth And live for every breath Looking back I've lived and learned But now I'm wondering Here, I wait and only guess What this next life will bring"The post Geezer Butler reveals which is one of his favorite Sabbath songs appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

The John Lennon song that David Bowie loved

The John Lennon song that David Bowie loved

David Bowie was born in 1947, seven years after The Beatles guitarist, songwriter and singer John Lennon. So he was just a teenager when the Fab Four started and changed the world completely in the early 60s. But Bowie was able to start his solo career in 1967, when he released his debut solo album. In the early 70s, when The Beatles had already dissolved, Bowie became a superstar with the release of many classic albums that were a big part of the Glam Rock movement in England. So he not only sold millions of albums worldwide during that era, but he also had the chance to meet many of his heroes. One of them was John Lennon and they became really good friends. Back in 1979, at the age of 32, Bowie was interviewed on the radio and revealed which were some of his favorite songs. One of the tracks chosen was from John Lennon's solo career. The John Lennon song that David Bowie loved The John Lennon track that Bowie chose in the radio interview (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage) was "Remember", from the self-titled debut album of John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. “I think this is a really despondent track, he left his band and he was doing his first solo album and I found it rivetingly depressing. So I really enjoyed playing it to myself. Very good piano, I think it’s Billy Preston, actually. Growing Up and being angry that’s what this one was all about,” David Bowie said. That record was released in 1970, being co-produced by Lennon, Yoko Ono and Phil Spector. Although "Remember" is a fan favorite, it was overshadowed by bigger hits like "Mother", "Working Class Hero" and "Isolation". Besides Billy Preston, who was mentioned by Bowie, that record also had Ringo Starr on drums and Klaus Voorman on bass. It performed really well, peaking at number 8 on the UK Albums chart and number 6 on the US Billboard Top LPs chart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnRDBp3JPA&pp=ygUUcmVtZW1iZXIgam9obiBsZW5ub24%3D Bowie and Lennon worked together By the time Bowie gave this radio interview praising Lennon's track "Remember", they had already worked together. Lennon co-wrote the track "Fame" with Bowie and the guitarist Carlos Alomar. The Beatle also played the acoustic guitar and provided the backing vocals to the song. That track was featured on Bowie's 1975 album “Young Americans”.  In an interview back in 1995 with MTV (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage), Bowie recalled how he met John. “It’s really hard to remember when I actually met John. It must have been sort somewhere in middle 1974, my guess.” “We kind started knocking around with each other, and he had his eye, I thought at the time gave which I thought was one of the better Lennon quotes I’ve said a number of times. But when I asked him what he thought (about) what I was doing, ‘Glam Rock’, he said ‘Yes, great sir. But it’s just Rock and Roll with lipstick on’.” He continued: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypgq0qdgVZA&pp=ygURZmFtZSBkYXZpZCAgYm93aWU%3D “And I was impressed as I was virtually everything he said. He was probably one of the brightest, quickest, witted, earnestly socialist men I’ve ever met in my life. Socialist in true definition, not in a fabricated political sense. But a real humanist and a really spiteful sense of humor, which of course being English I adored. I just thought we’d be buddies forever and get on better and better and all that. So I know the Beatle that I always liked (laughs), everybody had their favorite Beatle.” “I never really realized that, well I always knew that, but I wouldn’t have declared it in the early 70’s because that would have been the most uncool to actually say that you actually like The Beatles in any way, shape or form. But they’ve made such a great impact. They gave the British the illusion that they meant something again. We love hearing that, oh boy,” David Bowie said. Could RFK Jr. Qualify for the June Presidential Debate?

Could RFK Jr. Qualify for the June Presidential Debate?

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the independent presidential candidate, is on the brink of meeting the requirements to qualify for the June 27 CNN presidential debate. His participation in the debate could significantly change the state of the presidential race, as RFK already appears to be pulling large amounts of voters from both major candidates, despite his limited mainstream coverage. Joining the debate could legitimize his candidacy and increase support by sharing his agenda with new audiences.  To earn a spot in the debate, RFK must have ballot access in enough state ballots to allow him to hypothetically reach 270 electoral votes if he were to win every state. Since he is a third-party candidate, to appear on the ballot, he must petition and apply for access in each state separately. According to his website, he currently has ballot access in 18 states that have a total value of 272 electoral college votes. However, at least 10 of the 18 states where Kennedy claims to be on the ballot have not officially confirmed that he has made their ballot. It’s worth noting that the ballot access requirement is being criticized because the debate occurs before Joe Biden and Donald Trump will be officially selected as their parties’ nominees. As presumptive nominees, both candidates cannot officially secure ballot access for 270 electoral votes by the June 20 deadline.   RFK’s campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging that this technicality violated federal campaign laws. The complaint asks the FEC to suspend the CNN debate until the alleged violations are addressed. Traditionally, presidential debates occur in the fall after the nominating conventions. The CNN debate will be the earliest televised presidential debate in a U.S. election cycle. It will also be the first presidential debate not proctored by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates since its inception in 1988.  A lawsuit jeopardizing RFK’s ability to qualify for the debate emerged last Thursday. Two New Yorkers supported by the Democratic National Committee sued RFK’s campaign for allegedly invalid petition signatures. The lawsuit claims that the vast majority of his signatures are missing required information such as dates or addresses. Without ballot access in New York, which the campaign claims to have, RFK will lose 28 electoral votes and fall well below the required threshold. Another requirement is that candidates receive at least 15 percent of the vote in four different national surveys that meet CNN’s standards. The polls approved must be conducted by CNN, ABC News, CBS News, Fox News, Marquette University Law School, Monmouth University, NBC News, the New York Times/Siena College, NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist College, Quinnipiac University, the Wall Street Journal, or the Washington Post. Currently, RFK has only fulfilled this requirement in three approved polls: one conducted by the Marquette Law School, another by CNN, and a third by Quinnipiac University. The deadline to qualify for the debate is June 20. Timely Lessons About Tyranny from the Father of the Constitution

by John W. Whitehead, Rutherford Institute: “Take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties.” — James Madison James Madison, often referred to as the “Father of the Constitution,” once predicted that the Bill of Rights would become mere “parchment barrier,” words on paper ignored by successive generations of Americans. Surveys Show That The American People Absolutely HATE What Is Happening To The Economy, And This Is Why…

by Michael Snyder, The Economic Collapse Blog: The health of the economy has been one of the primary determining factors in many presidential elections, and it will be the same this time around too.  Of course that is really bad news for Joe Biden, because the American people absolutely hate what is happening to the […]
