DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly called out former President Joe Biden’s last-minute pardons Monday on her show, outlining how those pardoned could still face prosecution at the state level. On Monday, Biden issued a series of pardons throughout the day, with some announced just minutes before President Donald Trump was sworn into office. On “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Kelly discussed who the pardons extended to, highlighting how Dr. Anthony Fauci’s pardon dated back to 2014. “Let’s go to the pardons because this is just egregious. Everybody under the sun, I mean, the J6 committee members, his entire family, right? Mark Milley and Dr. Fauci. By the way, the pardons go back, especially Fauci, go back to 2014,” Kelly said. “It starts in 2014 forward. What the hell was he doing in 2014? It’s because he funded gain of function research. It’s because he was behind the problem that caused the damn pandemic.” “But there’s a question about whether it’s valid if they don’t accept. I mean, there’s a legal debate on whether you must say I accept. I think most lawyers say, yeah, you have to say I accept it in order for it to be valid for you,” Kelly added. “So, the Fauci one is the one that has me most ticked off. Because I really do think Fauci lied repeatedly to Congress. State prosecutions,” Kelly said. “You can be prosecuted by the state, a federal pardon does not—that was Trump’s problem, remember?” “We were saying like he could pardon himself, but only for the federal crimes, not for those state prosecutions in New York or in Georgia. In the wake of President Donald Trump’s pardoning of 1,500 people charged with crimes committed on Jan. 6, 2021, corporate media outlets are suggesting Vice President JD Vance was out of step with Trump when he said, “If you committed violence on that day, obviously, you shouldn’t be pardoned” in a recent interview with Fox News. Nevertheless, the vice president qualified his statement in the interview: “There’s a little bit of a grey area there, but we’re very much committed to seeing the equal administration of law, and there’s a lot of people, we think, in the wake of January the 6th who were prosecuted unfairly. We need to rectify that.” MSNBC’s Steve Benen was quick to portray these events as an example of a rift between Trump and Vance in an article Tuesday morning. “Whatever the explanation, just hours into the Trump-Vance era, the new president hung his vice president out to dry,” wrote Benen, who argues that Vance’s “unambiguous phrasing” in the Fox appearance is evidence of the two not being on the same page. “Weaseling out of these comments won’t be easy, but since the alternative is criticizing their party’s new president, they’ll have to think of something.” Several other outlets joined the chorus, too, with The Daily Beast releasing an article entitled “Vance Breaks With Trump on ‘Day One’ Promise,” and Mediaite also republishing the Fox News clip.  Even former Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., joined in the chorus, telling the press, “Well, I think I agree with the vice president… No one should excuse violence. And particularly violence against police officers.” But these media outlets have overlooked Vance’s mention of a “grey area” when considering Jan. 6th pardons. And Vance’s team is arguing that the vice president has been misquoted or taken out of context. “As Vice President Vance said on Fox News Sunday, pardoning the January 6 protesters would be handled on a case by case basis, which of course meant there was always going to be a large degree of gray area. Due to the corrupt process of these prosecutions, President Trump rightly decided to grant a broad pardon to all wrongfully convicted January 6 protestors,” said Vance’s press secretary, Taylor Van Kirk, in a statement. The Vance team also suggested that criticism of Trump’s pardons is hypocritical in the face of Biden’s preemptive pardons for his family members which were revealed just minutes before Trump’s swearing-in. “Despite the mainstream media’s obsession with January 6, the outgoing administration’s application of presidential pardons for members of the Biden family are far more deserving of additional media scrutiny,” said Van Kirk. The “Bidenbucks” executive order directing federal agencies to boost voter participation has gone the way of the Biden administration.  President Donald Trump eliminated Executive Order 14019, which President Joe Biden signed in March 2021, calling for federal agencies to partner with private “voter-advocacy groups” and to develop “strategic plans.” Trump signed what amounted to an omnibus executive order that scrapped almost 80 executive actions taken by Biden. The title was “Initial Recissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions.” Congressional scrutiny and watchdog groups, such as the Foundation for Government Accountability, which sued for records on the order, were “enough to slow-roll implementation of the order to ensure that people, and not partisan bureaucrats” decided the 2024 election, said Stewart Whitson, senior director of federal affairs for the foundation. “President Trump should be commended for getting rid of the ‘Bidenbucks’ scandal,” Whitson told The Daily Signal. “This shows the president is committed to stopping weaponized government.” Whitson later added, “Now, it’s about accountability.”  The group intends to continue its litigation in the appeals process to find out which federal bureaucrats were involved in election activities when implementing the order. Repealing the order is an important first step, but shouldn’t be the end of it, said Ken Cuccinelli, national chairman of the Election Transparency Initiative. “President Trump is correcting a great injustice by simply canceling Biden’s EO 14019, by which he sought to enlist the federal government to accomplish his own (and ultimately Kamala Harris’) re-election as president,” Cuccinelli, a former Virginia attorney general, told The Daily Signal in an email. “With the new and open administration, we should finally learn what really happened under EO 14019, as the Biden administration continuously and illegally stonewalled all efforts at transparency.” As noted in my book “The Myth of Voter Suppression,” Demos, a liberal think tank, drafted the Biden initiative and was among the private groups to implement the order, which has been largely shrouded in secrecy.  Biden’s Justice Department also has refused to release its strategic plan, citing “presidential privilege,” in a lawsuit brought by the Foundation for Government Accountability, a government watchdog group. The House Administration Committee subpoenaed federal agencies for records on how the order was being implemented, but the Biden administration didn’t comply.  The Daily Signal first reported using various public records requests that under the order federal agencies cooperated with numerous left-leaning advocacy organization, such as Demos, the American Civil Liberties Union, the League of Women Voters, the Brennan Center for Justice, the Stacey Abrams-founded Fair Fight Action, and other organizations. Many of the records were obtained through requests from states or smaller agencies.  Trump should be credited for not keeping the order in place for his own political ends, said Hans von Spakovsky, manager of the Election Law Reform Initiative at The Heritage Foundation. “Donald Trump, instead of keeping an illegal program in place to help Republicans get elected as Biden thought it would help Democrats get elected, got rid of it altogether,” von Spakovsky told The Daily Signal.  The Biden White House regularly defended the order as promoting access to voting. Also, the platform adopted at last year’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago heralded the Biden election order.  “Within the first 100 days of his presidency, President Biden signed an executive order directing an all-of-government effort to promote access to voting,” says the 2024 Democratic platform, agreed to by convention delegates. “Agencies have taken historic action to help veterans, college students, Native Americans, and other underserved communities register to vote.” Under Biden’s executive order, the Internal Revenue Service, the Obamacare exchanges, and U.S. Bureau of Prisons have been among the agencies most active in promoting voting, according to a report by a coalition of liberal groups led by the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights last spring, when the order was two years old.  Many congressional Republicans, as well as government watchdog groups, expressed concern about federal agencies’ engaging in partisan political activity in violation of laws such as the Hatch Act, a law that prohibits federal employees from using work time or resources for partisan political activities. The word “oligarchs” is in the news lately. I think all of you may have heard or tuned in to Joe Biden’s farewell address, where he warned about a new oligarchy, or multibillionaires that have undue influence in the United States. It’s kind of strange because it’s at the end of his four-year tenure so he’s obviously alluding to Donald Trump. A couple of things to think about when he brings up this topic of oligarchy, he’s trying to resonate—in his farewell address—“Ike” Dwight D. Eisenhower’s speech, some 64 years earlier, warning about a military industrial complex—that we’re going to perpetuate huge government bureaucracies, build platforms of bureaucracy, munitions that we might not need. And he was worried about the stifling of the citizen. But remember Joe Biden is no Dwight Eisenhower. He had credibility. He was a two-term president. He was the hero of what he called the American crusade in Europe, from the beaches of Normandy in June 1944, all the way into the interior of Germany. So people believed him. Unfortunately, Joe Biden has no such credibility.  The second thing is it’s hypocritical. Joe Biden gave the Medal of Freedom to George Soros. He’s a billionaire, yes. He’s an oligarch, but he broke the Bank of England, at one point. He was convicted of a felony in France. He was the one that bankrolled all of these destructive, needless prosecutors here in California—the Gascons, the Boudins, Kim Foxx, Alvin Bragg. He put people in that believed in critical legal and critical race theory and kind of destroyed the sanctity of jurisprudence. Joe Biden was a beneficiary of $419 million from Mark Zuckerberg in the 2020 election, who absorbed the work of the registrars in key states. Remember that. He was hand in glove working with Facebook to suppress the news of the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop, right before the last debate, and just weeks before the 2020 election. So, he should not talk about “oligarchs.” What he’s really angry about is that very wealthy, powerful people have flipped from the Democratic Party in some cases to the Trump cause. The third thing to remember is that these are not just oligarchs—in the sense of very wealthy people—people who made their fortunes in insurance, investment, hedge funds. Those people are very important to the economy. But there’s also a different type of billionaire, multi-billionaire. And those are the people who make things. And Elon Musk broke into the big three automobile. He saved the whole idea of electric vehicles. You can see his SpaceX with that mysterious arm that catches the booster upon recovery. He created Starlink—what I’m doing right now on my farm is using Starlink to get to you via Elon Musk. He reinvented social media. Whatever people think about Jeff Bezos—one of the people who, I think, Joe Biden is angry at—he reinvented the way we merchandise. He brought back the idea you could stay at home and people could deliver to you. That was discredited in the 1960s and 70s, but he revolutionized the idea that the world market was at your fingertips. I’m not a big fan of Mark Zuckerberg, and he was a hostile opponent of Donald Trump, but whether you like him or not, he revolutionized Facebook. So, these so-called oligarchs, David Sacks, or Peter Thiel, or Elon Musk, or Mark Zuckerberg, or Jeff Bezos, they are ”can-do” people. And Trump has them around him now they’re making kind of a hajj to Mar-a-Lago, not because he wants to have some consortium and rig the market or punish his enemies, but because they make things. They’re very similar to the captains of industry, the “dollar-a-day” men, that Franklin Delano Roosevelt enlisted to win World War II.  He didn’t like William Knudsen. William Knudsen was the head of General Motors Co., and he was a capitalist conservative. He could not stand Henry Ford, of Ford Motor Co., and he didn’t like Henry Kaiser, the ship builder. But he brought all three of them together and he said, “We’ve gotta win the war. You people have the ability. I’m going to partner with you to help America survive.” And the result was, Henry Ford was producing a B-24 bomber per hour, at the Willow Run plant in Michigan. Henry Kaiser created the entire fleet, in just two years, of Liberty and Freedom ships. And William Knudsen marshaled the automobile industry to make Jeeps and trucks, and we exported 400,000 of the Soviet Union. Those were so called oligarchs. They were also the people that saved us in World War II. Newly confirmed Secretary of State Marco Rubio made the rounds of the ABC, CBS, and NBC morning shows on Tuesday, and they all marched in lockstep, like they received an instruction packet. All three asked about President Trump's broad pardons for January 6 defendants, and they all followed up after he insisted he came to discuss foreign policy. On ABC's Good Morning America, co-host George Stephanopoulos launched: "Let's begin with January, the January 6th pardons. Back when this happened, you called it a national embarrassment, saying, 'We now have Third World countries that are lecturing us, and we have tinpot dictators that are mocking us.' Of course, you’re now America’s top diplomat, you’ll be speaking with your counterparts around the world. What message does that pardon send to them?" Rubio replied: "Well, I don't anticipate a single one of our partners will ask about it." ABC's Clinton-press-aide-turned-anchorman George Stephanopoulos presses Marco Rubio about January 6 pardons (twice). Rubio called the questions "unfortunate," that he came on to discuss foreign policy, so if they wanted to revisit January 6, "it's not going to happen."

The Anti-Defamation League put out a statement defending Elon Musk from accusations that he made a Nazi salute, and a left-wing congresswoman immediately assailed the group for it. Musk made an exuberant gesture twice while speaking at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., after the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Monday. Many accused him of intentionally showing support for white supremacy while others dismissed it as a mistaken gesture. 'It’s a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety.'The ADL released a statement calling on people to tamper down the rhetoric around the "awkward gesture.""This is a delicate moment. Let’s hope for healing and work toward unity in the months and years ahead."Rather than heed the call for civility, democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York criticized the ADL for trying to ease the divisiveness. "Just to be clear, you are defending a Heil Hitler salute that was performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity," Ocasio-Cortez wrote on social media. "People can officially stop listening to you as any sort of reputable source of information now," she added. "You work for them. Thank you for making that crystal clear to all." Ocasio-Cortez previously ran afoul of the ADL when she tried to blame another Jewish group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, for the devastating losses for Democrats in the 2024 elections. A high-ranking federal official obsessed with diversity, equity, and inclusion is out of a job now that President Donald Trump is back in office.On Monday, Trump took the oath of office for the second time in eight years and almost immediately got to work implementing his campaign promises, one of which was to eradicate DEI and other leftist ideologies that have lately overtaken federal agencies.One of his first attempts at reducing the DEI footprint was apparently to remove Adm. Linda Fagan as the commandant of the Coast Guard. Fox News, which spoke with a senior official from the Department of Homeland Security, first reported Fagan's ouster one minute after midnight on Tuesday, indicating she was fired within hours of Trump's inauguration.'Diverse work teams out-perform non-diverse work teams.'Leftist outlets and politicians have since bewailed the firing of Fagan, the first female leader of a military service. The Hill seemed irked that the Trump administration offered "no explanation" for the move while Rep. Joe Courtney (D-Conn.) called it an "abuse of power," even though the commandant of the Coast Guard serves at the pleasure of the president.Aside from the fact that the president does not need to justify firing her, Fagan apparently failed miserably to do the job. The accusations against Fagan listed in the Fox News report are manifold: failing to address threats to border security;missing recruitment and retention goals;inadequately equipping Coast Guard stations in the Arctic and other key regions;mishandling Operation Fouled Anchor, an investigation into the cover-up of sexual misconduct at the Coast Guard Academy, leading to an "erosion of trust"; andexcessive focus on DEI.Fagan, 61, has frequently defended the importance of "diversity" at the Coast Guard since former President Joe Biden nominated her to lead the branch in June 2022. For example, at the Smart Women, Smart Power Initiative in Washington, D.C., in April 2023, Fagan insisted that "diverse work teams matter.""Diverse work teams out-perform non-diverse work teams. And so this, you know, is also about readiness and resiliency of the force," she continued.Fagan then expanded the definition of diversity beyond just "gender and ethnicity." "It’s everything that makes each of us different and unique, because it brings — it brings strength and resiliency to the team in a really key way," she said at the initiative.In addition to her support for DEI, Fagan also seems to support permitting gender-confused individuals in the military, decrying any "artificial barrier" to service. "There are standards for service in the organization. You need to meet those standards, right? ... You [have] got to have a certain level of fitness to graduate from boot camp," she told Breaking Defense last month. "And bringing anyone who has a propensity to serve that meets those standards makes for a more ready, more resilient workplace and work teams."In a message to all Coast Guard members announcing her departure, acting Secretary of Homeland Security Benjamine Huffman claimed Fagan, who attended the academy in the early 1980s, "served a long and illustrious career."Adm.
