Can Dogs Eat Cool Whip? Vet Approved Nutrition Facts & Info

Click to Skip Ahead What Is Cool Whip? Cool Whip vs Whipped Cream Why Dogs Can’t Eat Cool Whip Possible Risks Sugar-Free Cool Whip Your four-legged friend loves eating the same foods you do, but not all human food is safe or healthy for your pup. That’s why it’s essential to know exactly what is safe to feed your dog before doing it. If you’re a Starbucks fan, you probably know Starbucks has a doggie treat called the Puppuccino, which is a small cup of whipped cream. Giving your dog whipped cream from Starbucks might have you wondering whether you can give them some Cool Whip from your fridge. Can dogs eat Cool Whip? Well, whipped cream and Cool Whip aren’t precisely the same thing. And while Cool Whip (the non-sugar-free version) isn’t toxic to canines, it’s definitely not the healthiest treat to give your pup. Here’s what you should know. What Is Cool Whip? You might have spent your life thinking Cool Whip is whipped cream, but it’s technically a whipped topping. Created in 1966, this tasty treat was developed as an alternative to whipped cream, as actually whipping cream takes some time (and muscle). It was billed as a strength and time-saver for busy at-home cooks who didn’t have time to waste on making whipped cream. And unlike real whipped cream, Cool Whip could be saved for longer and even frozen. Image Credit: MOUTASEM PHOTOGRAPHY, Shutterstock The Difference Between Cool Whip and Whipped Cream If Cool Whip is an alternative version of whipped cream, how is it different? Well, in its original incarnation, Cool Whip actually didn’t have any milk or cream! These days, it does contain just a hint of milk and light cream, but it also contains other ingredients, like high-fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, hydrogenated vegetable oil, artificial colors, and gums. In contrast, whipped cream is just that—heavy cream that has been whipped. Sometimes, home cooks will add a tablespoon of confectioners’ sugar or even flavors, like vanilla extract, chocolate, or coffee. But in its simplest version, whipped cream is just cream that’s been whipped until fluffy and delicious. Why Can’t Dogs Eat Cool Whip? As you can see, there are several differences between Cool Whip and whipped cream, and those differences are all the added stuff Cool Whip contains. While regular Cool Whip isn’t toxic to canines, the high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oil, and dairy aren’t healthy for them at all. And if you’re venturing into sugar-free Cool Whip, you could be headed into extreme stomach upset territory. Dangers of Feeding Cool Whip to Dogs While your pup will be fine if they manage to sneak a lick or two of Cool Whip, giving it as a treat on a regular basis may harm your dog. The main danger of feeding Cool Whip to your dog is the high-fructose corn syrup. This ingredient is just sugar (so much sugar!), and sugar isn’t something your pup needs to consume often. Just like us, if a dog eats too much sugar regularly, you could see them begin to pack on the pounds. Weight gain could lead to health problems, including diabetes, digestive issues, and metabolic changes. So, it’s best that your dog doesn’t consume sugar often. The next problematic ingredient in Cool Whip is hydrogenated vegetable oil. Oil equals fat, and consuming too much fat also leads to weight gain, which in turn leads to health issues. Too much fat in the diet could also lead to pancreatitis, which is a serious and painful condition. Hydrogenated vegetable oil contains a lot of trans fats, in particular, which aren’t healthy for anyone and can cause inflammation. Finally, though Cool Whip only contains a small amount of milk and cream these days, dairy still isn’t suitable for some dogs, as many pups are lactose intolerant. A small amount probably won’t hurt them, but larger amounts could cause stomach upset. Again, none of these ingredients are toxic, but they can certainly be harmful in the long run for your pet! Image Credit: Zontica, Shutterstock Sugar-Free Cool Whip Sugar isn’t the best for your canine companion, but artificial sweeteners may be even worse. While some artificial sweeteners aren’t toxic to canines, the majority of them can cause gastrointestinal upset in dogs. However, xylitol is very toxic to canines even in small amounts, and should be avoided at all costs. Luckily, the zero-sugar version of Cool Whip contains aspartame, which isn’t toxic but certainly isn’t healthy for pups and may upset their stomach immensely. If your dog has got into any sugar-free products it’s always best to double-check the ingredients list though to make sure xylitol isn’t on there and seek veterinary attention straight away if it is. Conclusion If your favorite four-legged pal got into the Cool Whip and had a lick or two, they should be perfectly fine. However, giving this food to your dog on a regular basis isn’t advisable as it contains way too much sugar and fat for dogs. You should also avoid the sugar-free version of Cool Whip, as it contains aspartame, which can greatly upset a dog’s stomach. If you want to give your pup a treat, stick with the ones made specifically for dogs; we promise they won’t know the difference. They’ll just be thrilled to have a tasty snack! Tom Emmer’s revenge

Before Tuesday night’s debate, the Trump campaign briefed reporters on Ohio Sen. JD Vance’s plan for the night: Attack Walz, attack Walz's record, and once again for good measure, attack Walz. Only that didn’t happen. “Spin aside, each man is going in with the same goal,” Politico’s Playbook wrote Tuesday morning: “Paint the other guy as extreme and out of step with the American people.” The night was a public triumph for Vance, but behind the scenes, it was a more personal victory for House Republican Whip Tom Emmer. “Expect Vance to hit Walz, per a spokesperson, ‘on his far-left agenda, including his disastrous record on border security, being soft on crime, and his overall failures as Governor of Minnesota.’” “Ohio Sen. JD Vance's biggest goal in Tuesday’s debate against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will be to cast him as too liberal for most Americans,” Axios reported on Monday, listing weak points the senator would supposedly hit, including lawlessness, Walz’s lies about his military rank and service, his lies about his family using IVF, and being as radical as Democrats get on abortion and trans issues. Walz was ready for it. Of course, none of it happened. Vance didn’t waste any time going after his opponent or his record and was even genial when he wasn’t attacking his true target: Vice President Kamala Harris. He was so on-target that he even shot a little sympathy Walz’s way, fretting for the governor’s “tough job here” defending Harris and attacking former President Donald Trump’s record. The night was a public triumph for Vance, but behind the scenes, it was a more personal victory for the House Republican whip, Tom Emmer of Minnesota. Emmer caught a number of headlines last month after Trump campaign sources revealed that he was privately debating Vance as a stand-in for Walz. Emmer was a good choice. He’s lived in Minnesota since the 1980s, when he went to law school there. He joined the state House 20 years ago and in 2015 was elected to Congress. That means he spent four years going to work with Walz, attending local chamber events, competing in the Land of 10,000 Lakes’ annual hotdish dinner, where congressmen and senators compete to make the best take on a one-dish casserole. Oh, and he’s got no love for Walz, who upon leaving Washington, D.C., to become governor five years ago has squandered most of the North Star State’s once-massive budget surplus, overseen an explosion of violent crime, turned the state into a “trans refuge” complete with tampons in school boys’ bathrooms, and banned reporting on infants born alive and left to die in the murderous late-term abortions his administration signed into law. Suffice to say, the two aren't pals. Emmer reportedly thinks his old colleague is a fraud dressed up in camo gear. And while Vance might know that voters in Pennsylvania aren’t going to change their votes because Tim Walz let Minneapolis burn for days before responding to the mayor’s request for National Guard reinforcements, Emmer sure cares that the Twin Cities have been turned into a husk of their former selves. It’s been four years since I visited to report on the 2020 election, and I can personally say the nighttime streets were abandoned by all but drug addicts and criminals that autumn. The bartenders, waiters, hotel staff, and shopkeepers we met were lovely, but all of them lived in fear of the next bout of political violence. Everyone had been impacted and hurt. Everyone was afraid. It wasn’t Vance’s job to tell that story Tuesday night. But it was Emmer’s pleasure to take an active role in seeing the man who’d allowed it get beaten and embarrassed in front of the whole country. “Emmer’s goal,” a source close to the majority whip told Blaze News, “was to help JD expose him as a fraud on a national stage. Mission accomplished.” The Federalist: In Minneapolis, rage and fear have hobbled a great American city Sign up for Bedford’s newsletter Sign up to get Blaze Media senior politics editor Christopher Bedford's newsletter.

Liz Cheney endorses Kamala Harris: ‘She will bomb countries I haven’t even thought of yet’

In a shocking twist that has sent shockwaves through the political universe and possibly several foreign nations, former Wyoming congresswoman and war enthusiast Liz Cheney has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 Presidential race. The endorsement came during a press conference that resembled a military briefing more than a political endorsement, complete with maps of the Middle East, a large red button labeled “Drone Strike,” and what appeared to be Dick Cheney in hologram form, nodding approvingly. Standing in front of an oversized American flag (and possibly several hidden missiles), Cheney declared, “It’s time we bring bipartisan bomb-dropping back to the White House, and Kamala is the woman to do it. Sure, Joe’s done alright with a few airstrikes, but I know Kamala’s got the fire in her belly to take things to the next level.” Cheney, who has made a name for herself by staunchly supporting a foreign policy that can best be described as “keep bombing until we run out of places to bomb,” went on to praise Harris for her sharp rhetorical skills, ability to cackle at the most inappropriate moments, and her steely gaze when talking about matters of “national security” (which, in Liz-speak, means bombing anyone who even remotely looks like they have oil). “We’ve seen Kamala’s work at the border,” Cheney said with a wink, “and I can’t wait to see what she’ll do at other borders, especially those in countries that don’t even know what’s coming. It’s that level of surprise attack that I’ve been missing since Dad left the game. The woman understands that sometimes diplomacy is just too darn slow.” Harris, who appeared next to Cheney via satellite from an undisclosed location (possibly planning her next round of sanctions or a particularly cutting tweet), seemed taken aback by the endorsement at first, but quickly recovered. “I’m honored to receive Liz’s support,” Harris said while subtly adjusting a pin on her lapel that may or may not have been shaped like a Predator drone. “We may not agree on everything, but we both know that America can’t afford to lose its edge when it comes to exporting democracy… at 30,000 feet.” When asked by reporters about the unusual pairing, Cheney shot back, “Look, people think I’m some kind of warmonger. I’m not. I’m just a fan of… let’s call it assertive diplomacy — with a couple of F-16s thrown in. Kamala gets that. We might disagree on tax policy, healthcare, or whether or not my dad is a cyborg, but when it comes to projecting American power, we’re on the same page.” Political analysts are stunned by this unexpected alliance, wondering if it represents a new bipartisan effort to unite America around its shared love of military-industrial complex spending. “This could be a watershed moment in American politics,” said Dr. Sheila Bombardier, an expert on geopolitical strategy and someone who has “absolutely no conflict of interest” regarding her 400 defense contractor stocks. “Finally, we’re seeing a candidate who can bridge the divide between establishment Republicans and establishment Democrats. Turns out all you need to do is throw a couple of wars in there and everyone’s happy.” Meanwhile, critics of both Harris and Cheney have been quick to slam the endorsement. Bernie Sanders’ campaign issued a terse statement reading, “We were planning to say something here, but then our writers got too depressed.” Tucker Carlson, visibly shaken, told his viewers, “I knew the elites were bad, but I didn’t realize they were this strategically aligned.” Not to be outdone, former President Donald Trump tweeted from his Mar-a-Lago command bunker, “Liz Cheney has lost her mind. Kamala is the worst! I dropped better bombs than either of them could ever dream of, believe me. SAD!” In closing, Cheney declared, “With Kamala in office, I know we can get back to the real American values: boots on the ground, jets in the air, and a perpetual state of necessary conflict. She’s the future, folks — and I’m here for it.” As the press conference wrapped up, a drone could be heard flying overhead, presumably on its way to deliver “democracy” somewhere, while Cheney and Harris shared a rare moment of bipartisan warmth — before turning to plan their next global strategy. Stay tuned for more updates on this incredible political match made in… well, probably somewhere with a defense contract.
