White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a warning to reporters that they will be held accountable if they push lies or misinformation about President Donald Trump’s White House. During the first White House press briefing of Trump’s second term on Tuesday, Leavitt issued a promise to the American people that she commits “to telling the truth from this podium every single day” and called on the reporters in the room to do the same. “I commit to speaking on behalf of the President of the United States, that is my job,” the press secretary said. “And I will say, it’s very easy to speak truth from this podium when you have a president who is implementing policies that are wildly popular with the American people, and that’s exactly what this administration is doing.” “It’s correcting the lies and the wrongs of the past four years, many of the lies that have been told to your faces in this very briefing room,” she added. “I will not do that, but since you brought up truth … I would like to point out, while I vow to provide the truth from this podium, we ask that all of you in this room hold yourselves to that same standard.” “We know for a fact there have been lies that have been pushed by many legacy media outlets in this country about this president, about his family, and we will not accept that,” Leavitt continued. “We will call you out when we feel that your reporting is wrong or there is misinformation about this White House. A lawsuit by the National Council of Nonprofits led to a federal judge pausing an order by President Donald Trump to freeze some federal funds in order to root out ideological spending from the budget. U.S. District Judge Loren L. AliKhan issued the temporary pause in the spending freeze just minutes before it was set to go into effect at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The administrative stay only applies to already existing programs and will only last until Monday afternoon. 'The use of federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and Green New Deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars.' “It seems like the federal government currently doesn’t actually know the full extent of the programs that are going to be subject to the pause," said AliKhan in her ruling. The freeze was communicated to federal departments through a memo from the Office of Management and Budget that explained it was necessary to ensure funds were no longer being used for ideological purposes. "Today, it was my great honor to sign an Executive Order banning the chemical castration and medical mutilation of innocent children in the United States of America," said Trump on social media. 'My Order directs Agencies to use every available means to cut off Federal financial participation in institutions which seek to provide these barbaric medical procedures.' Over two dozen states have issued bans on transgender surgeries and procedures on minors, and a ruling on a legal challenge to such a ban in Tennessee is expected from the U.S. Supreme Court in July. "Our Nation will no longer fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support so-called 'gender affirming care,' which has already ruined far too many precious lives," Trump continued. "My Order directs Agencies to use every available means to cut off Federal financial participation in institutions which seek to provide these barbaric medical procedures, that should have never been allowed to take place!"The order argued that banning such procedures would prevent tragedies caused by people later regretting transgender operations. "Countless children soon regret that they have been mutilated and begin to grasp the horrifying tragedy that they will never be able to conceive children of their own or nurture their children through breastfeeding. Moreover, these vulnerable youths' medical bills may rise throughout their lifetimes, as they are often trapped with lifelong medical complications, a losing war with their own bodies, and, tragically, sterilization."On Friday the Trump administration also dropped charges against a Houston doctor who had become a whistleblower against transgender surgeries for minors after the Texas legislature had banned them. "Accordingly, it is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called 'transition' of a child from one sex to another, and it will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures," the newest order said.
