‘The Dad The Democrats Never Had’: X Lights Up As Vance, Johnson Eyeball Unruly Dems

Democrats did their level best to disrupt and derail President Donald Trump’s Tuesday evening address before a joint session of Congress, but all that their efforts appeared to net was one ejected congressman and a few withering glances from Vice President JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was booted from the chamber shortly after President Trump began speaking — and in his absence, the remaining Democrats sat in stony silence, save for a few boos, for the remainder of the address. Many of them held signs — that looked like auction paddles printed with slogans attacking Trump’s policies — as they steadfastly refused to applaud or stand. Trump called the Democrats out directly early on, noting that they’d never clap for him no matter how great his accomplishments were, and then went about the business of delivering his remarks. But as he did so, Vance and Johnson glared toward the Democrats’ side of the chamber from time to time. A number of those watching the address noticed Vance and Johnson, and commented via X. “JD Vance is like the dad the Democrats never had,” one posted. Trump: It Is Time For America To ‘Wage War On The Cartels’

President Donald Trump declared that it is time for America to “wage war on the cartels” during his historic speech in front of Congress. The 47th president detailed his administration’s border security actions and its posture toward the Mexican drug cartels, which Trump designated as foreign terror organizations on his first day in office. “The cartels are waging war on America and it is time for America to wage war on the cartels,” Trump said during his speech to Congress. “Two weeks ago, I officially designated this gang, along with MS-13 and the bloodthirsty Mexican drug cartels, as foreign terrorist organizations. They are now officially in the same category as ISIS.” “Countless thousands of these terrorists were welcomed into the U.S. by the Biden administration,” he went on to add. “But now every last one will be rounded up and forcibly removed from our country.” The surge of criminal illegal aliens resulted in the loss of American life, Trump noted during his speech. “All three savages charged with Jocelyn and Laken’s murders were members of the Venezuelan prison gang … Tren de Aragua,” the president said, referencing the deaths of Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley at the hands of illegal aliens. Since entering office less than two months ago, the Trump administration has already secured the capture of key cartel leaders. Trump explained that Mexican authorities handed over 29 cartel leaders to the United States in an unprecedented move prompted by the president’s threat of tariffs against America’s neighbor to the south. Trump’s comments came just after Border Czar Tom Homan joined The Daily Wire and explained that the administration will use the “full might” of the federal government to crush the cartels. “We’re not just going to attack them on the southern border, we’re going to attack them across the globe,” Homan told The Daily Wire Backstage Live ahead of Trump’s Tuesday night address to Congress. “We’re going to use the full might of the federal government to take them out.” One of the first and most important ways to cripple the cartels, Homan explained, is to cut off their funding by securing the southern border and preventing them from smuggling drugs and people into the United States. “If they don’t have money, they don’t have power,” Homan explained. “We’re going to shut them down one piece at a time.”

Trump Announces Capture Of ISIS Terrorist Behind Abbey Gate Bombing

President Donald Trump announced during his Tuesday night address to Congress that the United States had apprehended a terrorist behind the 2021 attack that killed 13 American service members during a bombing at the Abbey Gate in Afghanistan. Trump said that ISIS-operative Mohammad Sharifullah had been detained and would soon face the “swift sword of American justice.” Sharifullah is suspected to have planned the bombing that killed 13 American soldiers and 170 Afghan nationals as the Biden administration withdrew from Afghanistan. “Three-and-a-half years ago, ISIS terrorists killed 13 American service members and countless others in the Abbey Gate bombing during the disastrous and incompetent withdrawal from Afghanistan. Not that they were withdrawing, it was the way they withdrew,” Trump said. “Perhaps the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country. Tonight I’m pleased to announce that we have just apprehended the top terrorist responsible for that atrocity and he is right now on his way here to face the swift sword of American justice.” Trump thanked Pakistan for its assistance in capturing Sharifullah. The soldiers killed were Marines Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, Sgt. Nicole L. Gee, Cpl. Hunter Lopez, Cpl. Daegan W. Page, Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza, Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz, Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum, Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui, Navy Petty Officer Third Class Maxton W. Soviak, and Army Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss. Trump added that he had talked to many of the parents and loved ones of the victims of the attack before his speech on Tuesday. The capture was confirmed by FBI Director Kash Patel. “As President Trump just announced, I can report that tonight the FBI, DOJ, and CIA have extradited one of the terrorists responsible for the murder of the 13 American soldiers at Abbey Gate during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. One step closer to justice for these American heroes and their families,” he posted on X. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt ripped into Democrats for not standing during the announcement. “President Trump just announced the terrorist mastermind behind the Abbey Gate Bombing, which killed 13 US Service Members, has been apprehended and will soon come to America to face justice. Democrats did not stand or clap. Despicable people,” Leavitt said.

President Trump Touts Accomplishments In Powerful Address: ‘America’s Momentum Is Back’

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump delivered an uplifting and positive joint address on Tuesday night, one that will be remembered for its emotional moments highlighting Americans present at the address. The president’s speech ran almost two hours long, setting a record for the longest presidential address to Congress in history. Trump wove in personal stories about Americans throughout a discourse on his administration’s accomplishments thus far, and made promises for the future. “Six weeks ago, I stood beneath the dome of this Capitol and proclaimed the dawn of the Golden Age of America,” Trump said as he opened his remarks. “From that moment on, it has been nothing but swift and unrelenting action to usher in the greatest and most successful era in the history of our country. We have accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations accomplish in four years or eight years — and we are just getting started.” “I return to this chamber tonight to report that America’s momentum is back,” he continued. “Our spirit is back. Our pride is back. Our confidence is back. And the American Dream is surging—bigger and better than ever before. The American Dream is unstoppable, and our country is on the verge of a comeback the likes of which the world has never witnessed, and perhaps will never witness again.” Democrats repeatedly attempted to disrupt the address, until House Speaker Mike Johnson called the room to order, ultimately directing the House Sergeant At Arms to remove Democratic Rep. Al Green of Texas from the chamber for interrupting Trump’s speech. The president’s speech touched on all of his major campaign promises, touting many of the items he has already taken action on thus far. He highlighted January Littlejohn, a mother who rescued her daughter from gender ideology. He mentioned the family of Laken Riley, a girl brutally killed by an illegal immigrant. He honored Corey Comperatore, the father and firefighter who was shot and killed by the man who attempted to assassinate Trump at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally over the summer. Trump also surprised multiple people present at the joint address with good news: in an emotional moment, he told 13-year-old brain cancer survivor DJ Daniels that he could become a member of the Secret Service. The little boy’s eyes widened in surprise when he heard the news, and he threw his arms around the beaming Secret Service director for a long hug. In another emotional moment, the president broke the news to a young boy, Jason Hartley, who lost his police officer father at a young age, that he had been admitted into West Point, his dream school. (Kent Nishimura/Bloomberg via Getty Images) Trump also pointed to polls showing that Americans are feeling more positive about where the country is headed. “Now, for the first time in modern history, more Americans believe that our country is headed in the RIGHT direction than the WRONG direction — an astonishing record 27-point swing since Election Day alone,” Trump said. “Likewise, small business optimism saw its single largest one-month gain ever recorded—a 41-point jump. Over the past six weeks, I have signed nearly 100 Executive Orders and taken more than 400 Executive Actions to restore COMMON SENSE, safety, optimism, and wealth all across our wonderful land. The people elected me to do the job, and I am doing it. In fact, it has been stated by many that the first month of our presidency is the most successful in the history of our nation.” Trump also spoke about reciprocal tariffs, noting that “Whatever they tariff us, we tariff them. Whatever they tax us, we tax them.” On immigration, he argued that his administration “has launched the most sweeping border and immigration crackdown in American history — and we quickly achieved the lowest numbers of illegal border crossers ever recorded.” “The media and our friends in the Democrat Party kept saying we needed new legislation to secure the border—but it turned out that all we really needed was a new president,” Trump added. On Ukraine, Trump said he has worked “tirelessly” to end the “savage conflict”  in which “millions of Ukrainians and Russians have been needlessly killed or wounded” with no end in sight. “The United States has sent hundreds of billions of dollars to support Ukraine’s defense,” the president said, eliciting one of the only moments of applause from Democrats in the crowd, who remained seated for even the positive stories of guests in the crowd. “Meanwhile, Europe has sadly spent more money buying Russian oil and gas than they have spent on defending Ukraine – by far! And Biden has authorized more money in this fight than Europe has spent.” The immediate reaction to Trump’s speech was overwhelmingly positive. “I have not clapped that much, in total in my entire life, as I did in the room,” said Daily Wire host Matt Walsh, who was in the room for the address as a guest of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

Winners and Losers From Trump’s Address to Congress

President Donald Trump turned his joint address to Congress into a rally Tuesday night, declaring “America is back,” and connecting the vigorous actions taken in the first six weeks of his administration to the campaign promises made en route to a mandate victory for Republicans in the 2024 election. Trump’s speech came just six weeks after he was sworn in as the 47th president, and while it was not an official State of the Union address, the night generated all the pomp and circumstance of such an address. The president’s partly polemic, partly playful, and partly pressing speech brought Republicans to cheers and tears. Democrats, on the other hand, held up signs reading “false” during much of Trump’s address, and refused to stand for Trump’s invited guests—including D.J. Daniel, a child with brain cancer Trump made an honorary member of the Secret Service. Here are who—and what—emerged as winners and losers after Trump’s 100-minute joint address. WINNERS President Donald Trump It would be an understatement to suggest Trump took a victory lap in his joint address to Congress. Trump came back into the House chamber with a vengeance, fueled by the nation’s success. “America is back,” Trump declared, because of his and Republicans’ electoral victory in November. The country, Trump said, is near the break of “dawn of the golden age of America.” Democrats, meanwhile, remained seated and did not clap at the prospect of an American revival. The president had zero hesitation connecting the nation’s potential renewal to his electoral victory in November, boasting not only his Electoral College margin of victory, but also the popular vote, which Trump described as “a date which will hopefully go down as one of the most important days in our country’s history.” “The American dream is surging bigger and better than ever before,” Trump added. “The American dream is unstoppable, and our country is on the verge of a comeback the likes of which the world has never witnessed.” “I was saved by God to make America great again. I believe that,” Trump said while honoring the life of Corey Comperatore, a father, husband, and firefighter who was killed during the assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pa., last summer. “The golden age of America has only just begun,” the president said, ending one of the longest spoken addresses to a joint session of Congress in American history. ?SAVED BY GOD TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAINPresident Trump looked back on the horrific shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, with a moving tribute to Corey Comperatore. He repeated his belief that God saved his life to make America great again. pic.twitter.com/tg0ZeaddUw— Tyler O'Neil (@Tyler2ONeil) March 5, 2025 Sergeant-at-arms William McFarland William McFarland, the House sergeant-at-arms, had a larger role than usual during the joint address to Congress.  McFarland, the House’s chief law enforcement officer, is often featured when the president addresses Congress because he introduces the president into the chamber and escorts him to the rostrum. Tuesday night, however, McFarland had to remove Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, from the House chamber. He removed the 78-year-old with a cane without force but much fanfare. When Trump began his speech by suggesting “America is back” and stands on the cusp of a new “golden age,” as well as recapitulating his victory in the 2024 election, the 78-year-old Houston congressman tried to interrupt the president from the floor. Green pointedly waved his cane at the rostrum while heckling the president. The president, as he’s known to do, continued his speech and steamrollered Green while making a gesture to eject Green from the chamber.  Nevertheless, Green persisted. Vice President JD Vance also signaled for Green’s removal, and, after two warnings from House Speaker Mike Johnson to maintain decorum, Green was removed by McFarland. DOGE Trump recognized Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk before providing a laundry list of “appalling waste” that has been uncovered. The list included “$8 million for making mice transgender.” No, that’s not a joke. ?TRUMP GIVES THE RECEIPTSPresident Trump lists the waste and abuse uncovered by @DOGE. It's so horrifying that we were paying for this stuff, but refreshing to see it revealed and undone.https://t.co/zMMyHATvJi pic.twitter.com/Ef78VngcC4— Tyler O'Neil (@Tyler2ONeil) March 5, 2025 The Department of Health and Human Services spent $22 billion “to provide free housing and cars for illegal aliens,” Trump said.  DOGE found “$47 million for diversity, equity, and inclusion scholarships in Burma,” and “$40 million to improve the social and economic inclusion of sedentary migrants; nobody knows what that is,” Trump said as the crowd broke into laughter.  The American Farmer “I love the farmer,” Trump said, after discussing that reciprocal tariffs will take effect April 2, meaning that America will place equal tariffs on good coming from nations that put tariffs on U.S. goods.  “The tariffs will go on agricultural goods,” Trump said, adding, “Our farmers are going to have a field day.”  Trump said there was likely to be a period of adjustment when the tariffs take effect, but told farmers to “have a lot of fun.” Democracy Trump vowed to restore “true democracy” by tackling the entrenched federal bureaucracy, vowing firings.  He signed an executive order to recategorize certain federal bureaucrats under “Schedule F,” making it easier to fire them.  Conservatives have long argued the administrative state has thwarted the goals of elected officials. “My administration will reclaim power from this unaccountable bureaucracy, and we will restore true democracy to America again,” Trump said.  “Any federal bureaucrat who resists this change will be removed from office immediately because we are draining the swamp. It’s very simple. And the days of rule by unelected bureaucrats are over,” the president added. “My administration will reclaim power from this unaccountable bureaucracy, and we will restore true democracy to America again.’’  D.J. Daniel In one of the more moving moments of the night, Trump honored Devarjaye “D.J.” Daniel, a 13-year-old who has spent years battling a rare form of brain and spinal cancer.  Daniel sat next to his dad in a police uniform, and Trump explained that the young man has always dreamed of becoming a police officer. Trump made Daniel a Secret Service agent. HEARTWARMING: Trump introduces DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old cancer survivor whose dream is to become a police officer. Trump just made him a Secret Service agent.Democrats do not stand up for DJ. pic.twitter.com/GzAbaVGNVd— The Daily Signal (@DailySignal) March 5, 2025 Greenland Trump invited the people of Greenland to become Americans.  “We strongly support your right to determine your own future, and if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America,” Trump said.  The president said America “needs Greenland” for national security, adding, “I think we’re going to get it.” “I have a message for the incredible people of Greenland,” Trump continued.    “We will keep you safe. We will make you rich, and together, we will take Greenland to heights like you have never thought possible before,” he said.  LOSERS Rep. Al Green It took just minutes for Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, to get forcibly removed from the House chamber by the House Sergeant-at-Arms William McFarland.  When Trump began his speech by suggesting “America is back” and stood on the cusp of a new “golden age,” as well as recapitulating his victory in the 2024 election, the 78-year-old congressman tried to interrupt the president from the floor. Green pointedly waved his cane at the rostrum while heckling the president. The president, as he’s known to do, continued his speech while making a gesture to eject Green from the chamber. Nevertheless, Green persisted. WHOASpeaker of the House Mike Johnson just KICKED OUT Rep. Al Green after he repeatedly attempted to interrupt Trump's speech.Yikes. pic.twitter.com/GlsxNpLu73— Russell Brand (@rustyrockets) March 5, 2025 Vice President JD Vance also signaled for Green’s removal, and, after two warnings from House Speaker Mike Johnson to maintain decorum, Green was removed by McFarland. Green spoke to the White House traveling press after getting booted from the chamber. He said that he had repeatedly yelled at Trump that the president had “no mandate” to cut Medicaid.  “It’s worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up” to Trump, the congressman said. President Joe Biden Trump took multiple opportunities during Tuesday night’s speech to take swipes at former President Joe Biden, calling him the “worst president in American history.” “As you know, we inherited from the last administration an economic catastrophe,” Trump said, before blaming Biden for the high price of eggs.  Trump also bashed Biden’s energy policies, saying the previous administration cut the number of new oil and gas leases by 95%. Trump laid blame at Biden’s feet for the number of criminal illegal aliens who entered the country under the Biden administration, including the illegal immigrant who took the life of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley.  “Because of Joe Biden’s insane and very dangerous open-border policies, they are now strongly embedded into our country,” Trump said of criminal illegal aliens, then praising the work of border czar Tom Homan and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to remove them. Criminal Illegal Immigrants  Trump touted his success at the southern border and highlighted the significant decline in border crossings since he took office. In February, there were 8,326 illegal alien encounters at the southern border, compared with the same month in previous years: 189,913 in 2024; 156,630 in 2023; and 166,010 in 2022, according to Customs and Border Protection.   “While we take out the criminals, killers, traffickers, and child predators … we will now bring in brilliant hardworking, job-creating people,” Trump said. “They’re going to pay a lot of money, and we’re going to reduce our debt with that money,” Trump said, referring to a proposal for a new visa program that would offer permanent residency to the tune of $5 million.  Trump highlighted his executive order designating members of Tren de Aragua, MS-13, and other illegal alien criminal organizations as domestic terrorists.  These criminal illegal aliens are “now officially in the same category as ISIS, and that’s not good for them,” he said.  “Every last one” of these criminal illegal aliens “will be rounded up and forcibly removed from our country, or if they are too dangerous, put in jails, standing trial in this country because we don’t want them to come back ever.”  Gender Ideology Trump touted his executive orders reversing Biden’s policies on gender ideology, and he celebrated members of the audience who had suffered as a result of men playing in women’s sports. “Our country will be woke no longer,” he declared. “I signed an order making it the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders—male and female,” the president noted. He told the story of Payton McNabb, a female volleyball player who suffered an injury competing against a biological male who identified as female.  “Three years ago, Payton McNabb was an all-star high school athlete, preparing for a future in college sports, but when her girls volleyball match was invaded by a male he smashed the ball so hard in Payton’s face, causing traumatic brain injury, partially paralyzing her right side,” he said. “Payton is here tonight in the gallery, and Peyton, from now on, schools will kick the men off the girls team or they will lose all federal funding.” ?COMMON SENSE REVOLUTIONPresident Trump touts his executive orders declaring the truth that there are only two genders, and booting men out of women's sports. The president rhetorically asked if members of Congress would prefer to “keep [the war] going for another five years?” Off-screen, Warren apparently said yes, to which the president shot back, “Pocahontas says yes.” The cameras cut to Warren, who clapped with a wry smile. Endless Wars Trump repeated his clarion call for peace in Ukraine, urging peace with Russia.  “Millions of Ukrainians and Russians have been needlessly killed or wounded in this … brutal conflict, with no end in sight,” the president noted. He noted that the U.S. has spent hundreds of billions of dollars helping Ukraine, and lamented that “Europe has sadly spent more money buying Russian oil and gas than they have spent on defending Ukraine.” According to the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air, the European Union spent $23 billion on Russian oil and gas in 2024, more than the $19.6 billion it gave in financial aid to Kyiv. Trump noted a letter he received from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in which Zelenskyy said he would be willing to come back to the table to negotiate an end to the war.  The post Winners and Losers From Trump’s Address to Congress appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Trump reads long list of ridiculous federal programs found by DOGE during congressional address

President Donald Trump applauded the work of Elon Musk to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse during his speech at a joint meeting of Congress on Tuesday night. The tech billionaire stood up during the speech and received much applause, mostly from Republicans. Trump read a long list of absurd programs that were found by the Department of Government Efficiency, which is led by Musk. 'We found hundreds of billions of fraud.' "We'll be ending the flagrant waste of taxpayer dollars," said Trump to tremendous applause. "And to that end, I have created the brand-new Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE — perhaps you've heard of it, perhaps — which is headed by Elon Musk, who is in the gallery tonight!" Republicans responded with loud applause, and Musk stood up and waved. Trump then joked that even Democrats appreciated Musk's efforts but didn't want to admit it."Just listen to some of the appalling waste we have already identified. $22 billion from [Health and Human Services] to provide free housing and cars for illegal aliens. $45 million for diversity, equity, and inclusion scholarships in Burma. $40 million to improve the social and economic inclusion of sedentary migrants — nobody knows what that is!" he joked. "$8 million to promote LGBTQI+ in the African nation of Lesotho, which nobody has ever heard of," he joked. "$60 million for indigenous peoples and Afro-Colombian empowerment in central America, $60 million. $8 million for making mice transgender. This is real! $32 million for left-wing propaganda operation in Moldova," Trump continued. — (@) "$10 million for male circumcision in Mozambique. $20 million for the Arab 'Sesame Street' in the Middle East, it's a program, $20 million for a program. $1.9 billion to recently created Decarbonization of Homes Committee headed up — and we know she's involved; just at the last moment the money was passed over — by a woman named Stacey Abrams. Have you ever heard of her?" he asked to loud booing.
