Racist Dem Activist Attacks Children Who Died

A former Houston mayoral appointee Sade Perkins, a black woman, raged against the Texas girls’ camp where so many lost their lives . She was angry, claiming it was whites-only. “I know I’m going to get cancelled for this, but Camp Mystic is a white-only girls’ Christian camp. They don’t even have a token Asian. Pediatrician’s Post About Children Getting What They Deserve

A pediatrician, a doctor who is entrusted with caring for children, was fired after she published a vile post suggesting that the more than 80 killed in the horrific Texas floods — including dozens of kids — were President Trump supporters who got “what they voted for.” According to Mediaite, Dr. Christina B. Propst drew widespread […] The post Pediatrician’s Post About Children Getting What They Deserve appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

There’s No Evidence To Suggest DOGE Cuts Caused Texas Flood Devastation, Meteorologists Say

As Texas battled floods over the weekend, some politicians and commentators rushed to blame the Trump administration for the ensuing devastation. Around 1:00 p.m. CT Thursday, a flash flood watch was issued for Kerr County. At approximately 4:00 a.m. CT Friday, the warning level was elevated to a flash flood emergency, according to the Associated Press. The death toll from the floods, which began Thursday night, has risen to at least 82 people. The search continues for 10 girls still missing from Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ summer camp that was at the center of the flooding. In a post on X, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) suggested that President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency could have exacerbated the crisis in Texas by cutting staff and funding from federal weather agencies. “Accurate weather forecasting helps avoid fatal disasters,” Murphy wrote. “There are consequences to Trump’s brainless attacks on public workers, like meteorologists.” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) echoed Murphy’s claims in a letter urging the Commerce Department’s Inspector General to investigate whether staffing shortages hindered local officials’ response times. CNN host Dana Bash suggested the same in an interview with Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX), who said, “I don’t think it’s helpful to have missing key personnel from the National Weather Service not in place to help prevent these tragedies.” But meteorologists have largely concluded that local officials performed their jobs to the best of their ability, and that they were not hindered by federal cuts. They say the floods were simply the result of a rare confluence of circumstances — a true worst-case scenario. “There is little evidence that any of the recent cuts to NOAA/NWS negatively impacted services for this event, regardless of what may be being said on social media,” Alan Gerard, a former director of the Analysis and Understanding Branch in the National Severe Storms Laboratory at NOAA, said. “Obviously, having both of these positions vacant for a prolonged time is not optimal, and certainly could have had negative impacts at some level,” Gerard said. “However, just looking at the actual warning services that NWS provided during the event, they were solid and provided the level of warning and alerts that the public should expect to receive for an event such as this.” Matt Lanza, a Houston-based meteorologist, wrote in a blog post, “In this particular case, we have seen absolutely nothing to suggest that current staffing or budget issues within NOAA and the NWS played any role at all in this event. Anyone using this event to claim that is being dishonest.” In response to the claim that staffing vacancies at the National Weather Service’s local Weather Forecast Offices exacerbated the disaster, Tom Fahy, the legislative director for the agency’s labor union, noted that there were employees acting in vacant leadership roles. “The WFOs [weather forecasting offices] had adequate staffing and resources as they issued timely forecasts and warnings leading up to the storm,” Fahy said on Saturday, per NBC News. Rather than blaming DOGE cuts, most meteorologists say the devastation can be explained by the difficulties of predicting flash flooding in such a specific area. Chris Vagasky, a meteorologist from Wisconsin, noted that “Quantitative precipitation forecasting, called QPF, is one of the hardest things meteorologists have to do.” “The reality is that the state of the science does not allow us to know that a small location like the south fork of the Guadalupe River is going to get 8″ of rain in a 3 hour period even a couple of hours ahead of time,” Gerard continued. “This was truly a low probability, worst case scenario where the absolute maximum in rainfall happened to coincide with the headwaters of a particularly flash flood prone river with a lot of human beings along it. In this case it also happened in the middle of the night on the 4th of July, exacerbating the human toll.” At Camp Mystic, campers likely wouldn’t have seen the warnings to move to higher ground, since the program did not allow them to bring their electronic devices, KXAN reported.

Trump Slaps 25% Tariff On Japan, South Korea, Warns Against Retaliation

Trump Slaps 25% Tariff On Japan, South Korea, Warns Against Retaliation

President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States would impose 25% tariffs on imports from Japan and South Korea, following his extension of the “Liberation Day” tariff deadline, initially scheduled for April. On Truth Social, Trump posted letters addressed to the leaders of both countries informing them of the new tariffs. The 25% blanket tariffs will be in addition to sector-specific tariffs already in place. The tariffs on Japan and South Korea will go into effect on August 1. “Please understand that the 25% number is far less than what is needed to eliminate the Trade Deficit disparity we have with your Country,” Trump wrote to both Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and South Korea’s new president, Lee Jae-myung. Trump added that Japanese and South Korean companies can avoid the tariffs if they manufacture their products in the United States. Trump then warned the countries against retaliating against the United States with reciprocal tariffs, stating that he would respond by increasing tariffs on them, in addition to the 25% blanket tariffs. “If you wish to open your heretofore closed Trading Markets to the United States and eliminate your Tariff, and Non Tariff, Policies and Trade Barriers, we will, perhaps, consider an adjustment to this letter,” Trump wrote to both nations. “These tariffs may be modified, upward or downward, depending on our relationship with your Country. You will never be disappointed with the United States of America.” Trump posted the letters shortly after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC on Monday morning that “several” trade announcements would come “in the next 48 hours.” Trump hinted last week that he would soon send letters to countries outlining their new tariff rates. Japanese economy minister Ryosei Akazawa has traveled to Washington, D.C., seven times in recent weeks for ongoing trade talks with the Trump administration, but so far, the talks have yielded no results. Last week, Trump said that there likely wouldn’t be a trade deal with Japan, calling the country “spoiled,” The Hill reported. “We dealt with Japan. I’m not sure if we’re going to make a deal. I doubt it with Japan — they’re very tough. You have to understand, they’re spoiled. I love Japan. I really like the new prime minister, too,” he said, adding, “But they and others are so spoiled from having ripped us off for 30, 40 years that it’s really hard for them to make a deal. You know, it’s very hard. As an example, with Japan, they won’t take rice, and yet they desperately need rice,” he said. “They won’t take any cars, but they’ll sell millions. So, we told them, ‘Sorry you can’t do that.’” South Korean Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo met with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in D.C. over the weekend, where he called on the United States to eliminate or reduce tariffs on steel and vehicles, Bloomberg reported. Yeo’s meeting with Greer marked his second trip to D.C. since the new administration took over in South Korea.

Libs Dragged For Blaming Texas Flood Disaster On Trump

As the nation continues to mourn the tragic loss of life from the catastrophic flooding that hit Central Texas over the July 4 holiday, Democrats are looking for someone to blame. As usual, it’s all being pinned on President Trump. Celebrities and commentators have been piling on the president, accusing him not only of ignoring the threat of “climate change” but also claiming that Trump cutting jobs at the National Weather Service exacerbated the tragedy.  Meanwhile, many social media users are pointing out that the NWS had extra staffers working in the time leading up to the flooding. “What a horror story in Texas,” comedian Rosie O’Donnell, who moved to Ireland following Trump’s reelection, said in a TikTok video posted Sunday. “When the president guts all of the early warning systems and the weathering forecast abilities of the government, these are the results that we’re going to start to see on a daily basis.” “It’s because he put this country in so much danger by his horrible, horrible decisions and this ridiculously immoral bill that he just signed into law,” the actress continued. “As Republicans cheered, people will die as a result and they’ve started already.” “Shame on him. Shame on every GOP sycophant,” O’Donnell said. Many commenters on X pointed out the inaccuracies of O’Donnell’s statements. “NWS had EXTRA staffers during the storm and warnings were [issued] hours in advance. This is TDS,” the account Libs of TikTok wrote alongside screenshots of articles about NWS adding extra staff and copies of the flash flood warnings. “Everyone knows she doesn’t care about the people in Texas. She saw any opportunity to blame Trump, and that is her sole purpose,” another person added. “Children are dead in Texas, and your first instinct is to use their tragedy to rant about Trump — from your villa in Ireland? You don’t need a platform — you need perspective,” echoed a third. O’Donnell wasn’t the only one using the tragedy to vilify President Trump. Attorney and liberal media editor-in-chief Ron Filipkowski posted and then deleted a similar sentiment on Threads, which was screenshot and circulated on X. “The people in Texas voted for government services controlled by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott,” his original message said. “That is exactly what they are getting.”  A Texas pediatrician was let go from her job after laying the blame on Texans as well.  “May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters and pets be safe and dry,” she wrote. “Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts,” Dr. Christina B. Propst posted on Facebook, as The Daily Wire reported. Connecticut senator Chris Murphy posted on X, “Accurate weather forecasting helps avoid fatal disasters. There are consequences to Trump’s brainless attacks on public workers, like meteorologists.” At least 80 people, including 28 children, have been declared dead from the raging flood that struck Central Texas on July 4. Ten girls from Camp Mystic are still missing.  Jason Runyen, a meteorologist in the National Weather Service office, said they increased the staff from two to five people in advance of the storm.  “There were extra people in here that night, and that’s typical in every weather service office — you staff up for an event and bring people in on overtime and hold people over,” Runyen said. President Donald Trump issued a disaster declaration for Kerr County on Sunday. He also said he’d be visiting the scene of the tragedy later this week.

Costco Warns Members To Stop Using Several Products

Costco shoppers may want to check their homes for numerous products recently recalled by the warehouse store. While we often see recalls for food and perishable items, these recalls encompass a wide range of Costco products, including tires and dumbbells. Each of the recalled products poses a risk to consumers, and they should discontinue use as soon as possible. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Costco (@costco) Costco Gave Directions For Customers To Receive Repairs Or Refunds Following The Recalls Customers who purchased a Danby brand U-shaped window air conditioner between June 10, 2021, and February 2, 2022, Midea brand U-shaped window air conditioner between June 2021 and May 2025 should stop using the units “immediately. Per Costco, they “present a risk of mold growth” from pooled water in the AC units. Costco members who purchased Anker power banks should discontinue use due to a potential issue with the lithium-ion batteries. They can submit to receive a replacement power bank. Costco also issued recalls for Bridgestone Blizzak 6 tires and Michelin Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric tires. The Bridgestone tires, “do not bear the DOT certification symbol on the tire sidewalls and therefore do not comply with tire marking requirements in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 139.” The Michelin tires are being recalled because “chunks of tread rubber may detach from the shoulder block.” BowFlex 552 adjustable dumbbells are also being recalled by Costco “for posing an impact hazard” if plates dislodge during use. According to Costco, the membership-only warehouse club strives to ensure its members receive the absolute best. “Commitment to quality. Costco warehouses carry about 4,000 SKUs (stock keeping units) compared to the 30,000 found at most supermarkets. By carefully choosing products based on quality, price, brand, and features, the company can offer the best value to members,” the Costco website states. A full list of Costco recalls can be found here. This story’s featured image is David Paul Morris/Bloomberg via Getty Images.
