ABC News Panelists Throw Fit Over RFK Jr. Daring to Question Medical Establishment

DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Panelists on ABC’s “This Week” erupted Sunday after former Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus defended Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s attempt to “balance the benefits” of COVID-19 vaccines against their “admitted risks.” Tensions flared Thursday during a Senate Finance Committee hearing as Democrats hammered Kennedy for criticizing agencies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and for questioning vaccine recommendations for children. With former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie arguing Kennedy doesn’t belong in his role, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos chimed in, saying Trump “wants to brag about Operation Warp Speed” while “promoting a vaccine skeptic.” “Well, on one hand, for sure, Operation Warp Speed was a marvel,” Priebus responded. “I think the president deserves a lot of credit for it. But he also had no time to think. They had to move forward at a record pace, and they did it. But where I disagree with Chris is I watched all three and a half hours of that hearing. I saw somebody different. I saw a decent, humble, caring guy. I think he’s trying to do the right thing.” Christie fired back at Priebus, questioning his description of the HHS secretary as “humble.” “Yeah, I think he is. And you know what?” Preibus asked. “He’s trying to balance the benefits of the COVID shot versus some of the admitted risks that the CDC has—” The panel erupted into crosstalk as members tried to speak over Priebus. The former RNC chair could be heard saying, “Okay, so you all know better,” before Christie jumped back in to call out Kennedy. “I’m just gonna listen to what Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said for 20 years. For 20 years, he has been a vaccine denier. Now, what you’re seeing around the country is people like Ron DeSantis in Florida saying, let’s get rid of all vaccine mandates,” Christie said. “This would not be happening if Donald Trump had not put the greatest public health denier of the last 20 years in charge of it.” In June, Kennedy led a sweeping shake-up at the CDC, firing 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and then-Director Susan Monarez later in August. During Thursday’s hearing, Democrats pressed him on the ACIP overhaul and the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approvals of COVID-19 vaccines. Kennedy pushed back, blasting the CDC’s “disastrous” pandemic response and its “nonsensical policies” like closing small businesses and masking children. At one point during the hearing, he accused Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren point-blank of taking major contributions from pharmaceutical companies after she accused him of taking away the COVID-19 vaccine. The argument between Christie and Priebus continued, with Priebus stating that the COVID-19 vaccine doesn’t “have to be mandated.” Former Democrat National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile then jumped in, claiming Kennedy had cut “over half a billion dollars from these life-saving vaccines.” “They can get the shot! They’re not taking away the shot,” Priebus said as Brazile continued to speak. “Certain groups of people in the United States actually don’t need to take the shot. Don’t you agree with that? So it doesn’t need to be mandated.” With Brazile continuing to press her point about access to the COVID-19 vaccine, Priebus asked her what percentage of kids she believed actually received it. However, Stephanopoulos then joined in, pushing back on Priebus’ argument by saying Kennedy is “raising questions about vaccines across the board,” not just COVID-19. “So we should dismiss any person on the face of the earth that has a question about vaccine mandates?” Priebus asked. “If they’re scientists, we should listen to the scientists. Listen to the facts,” Brazile said. The former RNC chairman noted that Brazile is “not a scientist,” as Christie asked Priebus if he believes Kennedy “is the best man to be leading public health.” “It’s not my decision,” Priebus responded as Christie could be heard yelling over him “It’s the president’s decision … I support his decision.” Christie continued yelling over Priebus as he tried to make his point, calling Kennedy a “joke,” before the former RNC chairman responded that Christie doesn’t have the authority to decide who is the best fit for the position. “I think he’s the best person,” Priebus said. “And I think that the president of the United States has the mandate that you don’t.” Despite former President Joe Biden pledging in 2020 not to implement a COVID-19 vaccine mandate, he eventually imposed multiple mandates after taking office. With private companies following the federal requirements, many workers were forced to take the vaccine or risk losing their jobs. In 2021, former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s mandate for service members led to the discharge of over 8,000 who refused. With the COVID-19 vaccine still available, the FDA in May announced it would require more evidence to support the previous recommendation that Americans receive a yearly COVID-19 booster, even for healthy adults. ‘Chicago Braces’: PBS Sees City Afraid of Trump’s ‘Crackdown on Crime’ and Illegals

Sunday’s edition of PBS News Weekend led with the anchor and his guest blaming President Trump for using social media to lead to “heightened tensions” in Chicago before his promised crackdown on crime and illegal immigration in that high-crime city (as if the high murder rate and crime rate in general wasn’t stoking tensions before). Anchor John Yang opened the show portraying Chicago as actually fearing a potential crime crackdown and blaming President Trump. JOHN YANG: Tonight on PBS News Weekend, Chicago braces for a crackdown on crime and illegal immigration as President Trump`s social media post heightened tensions…. Yang hosted Brandis Friedman, an anchor on local Chicago public radio, and together the two public television anchors ridiculously blamed Trump, not Chicago’s own elected officials, for fostering tensions in the city. YANG: Tensions are rising in Chicago as President Trump signals that he'll soon send troops and ICE agents to the city as part of his crackdown on crime and illegal immigration. This weekend he posted on Truth Social, “Chicago is about to find out why it's called the Department of War.” Leaving the White House today, he rattled off some numbers. DONALD TRUMP, U.S. President: You know how many people were killed in Chicago last week? Eight. You know how many people were killed in Chicago the week before? Seven. You know how many people were wounded? 74 people were wounded. You think there's worse than that? I don't think so. YANG: Numbers from the Chicago Police Department show that through the end of August, murders were down 31 percent from the same period in 2024. Brandis Friedman is anchor of Chicago Tonight on member station WTTW. Brandis, all this attention on social media, especially he's calling this "Chi-pocalypse Now." How are people reacting or how are people feeling about this in Chicago? BRANDIS FRIEDMAN, WTTW News: So this weekend we've seen a number of people take to the streets, thousands and thousands of demonstrators. I think just yesterday they stopped by the ICE Chicago field office as well as the federal courthouse, Trump Tower, protesting what they're hearing from the president. I think their intention is to send him a message that they won`t tolerate what they believe to be sort of fearmongering....And something similar from Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago as well. Neither of those elected officials dared to address, much less take responsibility for, Chicago’s massive crime problem, but the "public television" personalities kept the onus on Trump, never even considering the possibility that the lives of ordinary Chicagoans would improve with a successful reduction of crime and illegal immigration. Trump is controversial, and not protesters who say "ABOLISH ICE."  YANG: I know this weekend, big Chicago celebration among the Mexican American community, Mexican Independence Day. Is there fear among the immigrant community? FRIEDMAN: I think so, yes. I think it is safe to say, yes, there is some fear. The Mexican Independence Day parade in Pilsen, the Pilsen neighborhood, it did step off yesterday, but with noticeably fewer people….I also heard someone else say that right now this is not a good time for the Mexican-American community, that they are being targeted by the American government and that there's nothing to celebrate right now.... After quoting “border czar” Tom Homan criticizing sanctuary cities, Yang seemed to hint race was involved in Trump talking about crime in Chicago. YANG: Trump has long been talking about Chicago in the 2016 presidential campaign. I remember he was always talking about Chicago crime and about how he could clean it up. And he also phrased it as a sort of reaching out to the black community in Chicago by talking about that it would help them. Why do you think he talks about Chicago so much? Friedman laughed but didn’t swallow the bait whole, admitting "there are black and brown communities that are feeling the effects of crime much more regularly than other parts of the city of Chicago." PBS could just read their partners at PolitiFact, who explained: "Chicago has reported the most homicides of all U.S. cities every year since 2012, according to FBI data crunched by Jeff Asher, a crime data analyst for AH Datalytics." A transcript is available, click "Expand." PBS News Weekend 9/7/25 7:02:17 p.m. (ET) JOHN YANG: Good evening. I`m John Yang. Tensions are rising in Chicago as President Trump signals that he`ll soon send troops and ICE agents to the city as part of his crackdown on crime and illegal immigration. This weekend he posted on Truth Social Chicago is about to find out why it`s called the Department of War. Leaving the White House today, he rattled off some numbers. DONALD TRUMP, U.S. President: You know how many people were killed in Chicago last week? You know how many people were killed in Chicago the week before? Seven. You know how many people were wounded? 74 people were wounded. You think there`s worse than that? I don`t think so. JOHN YANG: Numbers from the Chicago Police Department show that through the end of August, murders were down 31 percent from the same period in 2024. Brandis Friedman is anchor of Chicago Tonight on member station WTTW. Brandis, all this attention on social media, especially he`s calling this "Chipocalypse Now." How are people reacting or how are people feeling about this in Chicago? BRANDIS FRIEDMAN, WTTW News: So this weekend we`ve seen a number of people take to the streets, thousands and thousands of demonstrators. I think just yesterday they stopped by the ICE Chicago Field Office as well as the federal courthouse, Trump Tower, protesting what they`re hearing from the president. I think their intention is to send him a message that they won`t tolerate what they believe to be sort of fear mongering. We know that the president has been making these threats for a couple of weeks. On social Media, we see Governor J.B. Pritzker saying that, you know, that this is not normal and saying that it is the president basically declaring war on an American city and that it should not be tolerated. And something similar from Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago as well. JOHN YANG: I know this weekend, big Chicago celebration among the Mexican American community, Mexican Independence Day. Is there fear among the immigrant community? BRANDIS FRIEDMAN: I think so, yes. I think it is safe to say, yes, there is some fear. The Mexican Independence Day parade in Pilsen, the Pilsen neighborhood, it did step off yesterday, but with noticeably fewer people. I think there are certainly some people who are fearful of coming out, fearful of those events being like, you know, I hate to use this kind of metaphor, but, like, sort of shooting fish in a barrel, right? Making it an easy target for ICE agents to round up people who may be undocumented. Another festival that`s supposed to take place next weekend, the El Grito Festival, which is supposed to happen in downtown Grant Park, that one has already been canceled because you`re also hearing from some folks say, you know, we are still going to celebrate our culture and our heritage and not going to allow what`s happening to sort of steal that joy from us. But, you know, I also heard someone else say that right now this is not a good time for the Mexican American community, that they are being targeted by the American government and that there`s nothing to celebrate right now, that they should be sort of hunkered, hunkering down and taking care of themselves and each other. JOHN YANG: You know, another reason why the president is focusing on Chicago is that it`s a sanctuary city. And Tom Holman, the border czar, had this to say about sanctuary cities on CNN`s State of the Union today. TOM HOMAN, White House Border Czar: You can expect action in most sanctuary cities across the country. President Trump`s prioritized sanctuary cities because sanctuary cities knowingly release illegal alien public safety threats to the streets every day. That`s where the problem is. JOHN YANG: Has the police said whether or not they`re going to cooperate with the ICE agents when they get there? BRANDIS FRIEDMAN: The police department and the mayor have said they will not cooperate, they will not support these efforts, but they will not hinder them. Right. So what Superintendent Snelling has said here in Chicago is that if they are called, they will first send a more senior officer to that scene and make a determination of what`s happening. Right. And whether or not it warrants Chicago police officers to be on the scene as a matter of public safety and sort of protecting anything from getting out of hand and to enforce municipal code or municipal laws. But they will certainly not be lending a hand to the ICE agents who are on the ground. JOHN YANG: And what about the Chicago public schools? Have they said anything about if agents were to come even in the vicinity of a school? BRANDIS FRIEDMAN: They have. I think the big conversation for Chicago Public Schools has been whether or not they should shift to remote learning in the interest of protecting students who are undocumented, protecting them from agents. You know, as a sanctuary city, the district tends to be in lockstep with the mayor on the issue of immigration and protecting students and not allowing ICE agents to come to their schools for ICE enforcement, for immigration enforcement. JOHN YANG: I know we talked about Governor Pritzker. He said that he`ll go to court if the -- if troops arrive in Chicago. Has the mayor said anything about what sort of action he would take? BRANDIS FRIEDMAN: The mayor has not. I think he`s sort of leaning on the state for this one. Right. Like, so we`re hearing a lot more from Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raul. Kind of waiting to see what laws the president or, you know, what method the president should take to do what he`s planning on doing. Right. Starting with ICE agents and then eventually the National Guard, if it becomes necessary, and then taking them to court. Nothing necessarily legal action that the mayor has stated. But obviously, this is one place where the mayor and the governor are in total agreement with regards to resisting what it is the Trump administration is attempting to do. JOHN YANG: Trump has long been talking about Chicago in the 2016 presidential campaign. I remember he was always talking about Chicago crime and about how he could clean it up. And he also phrased it as a sort of reaching out to the black community in Chicago by talking about that it would help them. Why do you think he talks about Chicago so much? BRANDIS FRIEDMAN: I think a lot of Chicagoans would like to know that, why he is often, you know, why we often hear him talking about Chicago the way that he does. And, you know, with regards to the crime issue, there are black and brown communities that are feeling the effects of crime much more regularly than other parts of the city of Chicago. So that`s not to say that there is not a problem, but the problem is certain. I think you`ll hear this from, you know, from local leaders. The problem is certainly much better than it is or than it was, than it has been. It has definitely been worse than it is right now. That does not mean it`s okay. And certainly there is that there is work to be done. But why he is always -- why he`s attracted to talking about Chicago the way he does, I could not tell you. JOHN YANG: Brandis Friedman from Chicago tonight at WTTW, thank you very much. BRANDIS FRIEDMAN: Thanks, John.

Resistance mounts in Chicago as city braces for potential National Guard deployment

CHICAGO, Ill. — "Make some noise if you're going to fight like hell to abolish ICE!"The marching crowd in downtown Chicago cheered as far-left activists led the way through the streets on Saturday. It had been barely a week since President Donald Trump reiterated his pledge to send in the National Guard and extra federal immigration agents to the Windy City in order bring down the crime rate. In the week after Labor Day, far-left groups of all kinds are preparing for when the troops and agents come in force."This administration has waged war on anybody in this country who is a threat to white supremacy. ... We are also literally standing in a moment where we are fighting about whether justice, equity, and, freedom will live or die in this generation," one speaker said during Saturday's protest.RELATED: Pritzker and other libs melt down over Trump's 'Chipocalypse Now' meme, prompting a badly needed reality check — (@) The anti-Trump march was peaceful as it snaked its way through the heart of downtown, once again not having a march in the west or south side of the city. Despite Chicago Public Schools having a budget of over $10 billion, protesters chanted, "Fund the schools, not the Guard! Get the hell out of our backyard!" — (@) In North Chicago, about an hour north of the Loop, anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protesters gathered outside Naval Station Great Lakes, the military base most known for being the boot camp for U.S. Navy recruits. Federal agents have set up an operations center on the base to support the illegal immigration crackdown. While no major acts of violence took place, the small crowd marched on the street and blocked the roadway that led to the base's main gate. Protesters blocked the road for around 30 minutes before marching on. Local and Navy police officers watched the group to ensure they did not step on federal property. RELATED: 'My position changed over the past week': The Chicagoans who want Trump to send in the National Guard — (@) The ICE facility in Broadview, a village outside Chicago city limits, has also seen protesters attempting to block federal vehicles from entering or leaving the compound. On Friday, anti-ICE agitators claimed victory because ICE vehicles reportedly turned around after seeing the crowd. It appears they will try the same tactic again this week. While the increased enforcement operations in Chicago are just getting started, the effect of the pending arrival of federal agents has already been felt in other parts of the city.WGN reported businesses in the Latino-majority neighborhood of Little Village have seen a 50% decrease in customers since many residents, and seemingly illegal aliens, are staying at home."Generally, these corners — you’ll have one vendor per corner, [but] they’re empty. The vendors aren’t out there,” business owner Ariella Santoyo told WGN. "You see people not in restaurants. To see it so empty, to find parking is super rare. People are just holding off."Little Village Community Council President Baltazar Enriquez said he and other volunteers will be patrolling the neighborhood and blow whistles to alert illegal aliens if they see federal agents.Like Blaze News? Disturbing Victoria's Secret promo proves the fashion show is dead forever

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show returned in 2024 following a hiatus, but the brand has never been the same. The company pushed pause on the show in 2019 after chief marketing officer Ed Razek resigned over remarks that were considered to be insensitive to transgender and obese models.'Plus-size models are a byproduct of the body positivity movement.'Razek essentially saying the show is not for men or plus-size models was enough for the brand to slam the brakes on both their show and their appeal to women. Upon the fashion show's revival in 2024, Victoria's Secret made its allegiance clear — and it was not with their usual fan base. Not only did the revamped show feature models over 50 years old, but it also showcased five plus-size models and two men pretending to be women. In a new promo, the brand is doubling down and proving its 2024 return was not just the last gasp of a woke era, but it was only the beginning of its redrawn standard. Whereas the new genre of Victoria's Secret Angels may have been simple additions to the roster in 2024, in 2025, they are leading the charge ahead of the October show.In the new promo — aptly titled "The Secret Is Out" — the fashion show features transgender model Alex Consani and plus-size model Yumi Nu front and center, while dragging out some of its legacy models who are widely accused as having facial surgeries. It is not just the use of Consani that is troubling, but the model's backstory makes his inclusion even more disturbing.RELATED: Victoria’s Secret or Victor’s Secret? Trans models featured in 2024 fashion show Alex Consani. Photo by Gisela Schober/Getty Images At just age 14, Consani gave an interview as "the world's first" and "youngest transgender model," according to Cosmopolitan."I was about three or four years old when I realized I was attracted to girls' clothes. So I slowly started wearing girlish clothes and became who I am today," the boy said.Cosmopolitan eerily wrote that Consani "isn't just interested in looking pretty" but wants to achieve "greater tolerance for transsexuality."Last year, Victoria's Secret featured Valentina Sampaio, a male model posing as a woman. The 28-year-old Brazilian also has a jaw-dropping background. According to Business Insider, he was told by a psychologist that he was transgender at just 8 years old before he started referring to himself as a girl at 12.In 2020, Sampaio became the first female-dressing man to be in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, which is also where Nu, the plus-size model in the Victoria's Secret promo, made waves.RELATED: Candace Owens is wrong: Victoria’s Secret is nothing to celebrate Yumi Nu. Photo by Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Nu was the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model in 2022 and was touted by People as the first "Asian curve model" to do so.These types of titles are often associated with the new era of victim-centric models, including Anok Yai, who was also featured in the Victoria's Secret ad. Yai, 27, was described by Hola! as the the first "black model of South Sudanese descent to open major shows."Also featured in the promo were veteran models Adriana Lima, 44, Lily Aldridge, 39, and Joan Smalls, 37.Blaze News reporter Rebeka Zeljko said that while the brand is "clearly trying to relive the glory days," it has still made room for "ugly ideologies" to be represented."Trans models like Consani have become immensely successful in the modeling industry, where androgyny is viewed as versatile and desirable," Zeljko explained. "Plus-size models are a byproduct of the body positivity movement that ignored both health standards and objective beauty. In both cases, Consani and Nu clash with Victoria's Secret's original and beloved brand of hyperfemininity."Like Blaze News?
