Dozens of DC area Police Departments Refuse To Help Secure Inauguration

If it isn’t one thing, it’s another — sometimes it just seems like that’s how it goes. Concern for the safety of President Trump and thousands of inaugural attendees amassing in the Capital on Monday has been in the forefront of all our minds for months now. Yesterday we learned that the President made the decision to move the viewing of the swearing-in ceremony indoors, inside the Capitol rotunda. There were likely multiple reasons for that move, including security concerns and weather, as President Trump pointed to in yesterday’s statement. But now it seems there may have been another factor playing in to that decision. Apparently more than a dozen Police Departments in the DC area which historically play a role in securing the Capital during Presidential inaugurations are choosing not to assist with security on Monday. Reports are emerging that more than a dozen local police departments have refused to help DC police guard President Trump’s inauguration. This is likely why the ceremony is getting moved inside. “I was just told that based on the current memorandum of understanding, we will not… pic.twitter.com/6OElTKgUMV — George (@BehizyTweets) January 17, 2025 Here’s the full text of the above post: Reports are emerging that more than a dozen local police departments have refused to help DC police guard President Trump’s inauguration. This is likely why the ceremony is getting moved inside. “I was just told that based on the current memorandum of understanding, we will not be assisting Metro PD,” a spokesperson for Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland to the Daily Caller. HOW SAD & PATHETHIC? Though the refusal to take part comes at a moment of high political tensions, it doesn’t seem as though politics — at least not Presidential politics — played the majority role in the decision this time. The reason allegedly stems from “MOU”, or Memorandum of Understanding which serves as the agreement between departments on unified protocol. There doesn’t seem to be “unified protocol”, which is the issue at hand. Apparently the DC Police have backed away from certain use of force measures which other departments still adhere to, according to a report in the Daily Caller: More than half a dozen local D.C.-area police departments will not be assisting Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) with security for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration, the Daily Caller has learned. The MPD has been lambasted by both progressives and conservatives for its methods of policing, and the department refused to answer several questions from the Caller. The decision by these departments could leave MPD with hundreds fewer officers than they would typically be able to rely on for an event of this magnitude. While MPD claimed thousands of officers will assist with security, several local departments told the Caller they will not be helping. Most were vague with their reasons for skipping this year’s inauguration, but one department confirmed in an email that it was because of a dispute over a memorandum of understanding (MOU), or agreement between departments, with MPD. “I was just told that based on the current MOU, we will not be assisting Metro PD,” a spokesperson for Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland told the Caller. Just a few days ago, DC police announced at a press conference that nearly 4,000 police from across the nation would be volunteering to help secure the Capital on inauguration day. Now, it seems as though part of the motivation for that announcement was to highlight those officers who would be attending and throw some shade towards those local departments choosing not to assist. Here’s that press conference from a few days ago: BREAKING: DC police officials just announced that nearly 4,000 cops nationwide have volunteered to come help on President Trump’s inauguration day. Additionally, all DC officers will be activated for the event. They are anticipating a historic crowd. This is Trump’s reward for… pic.twitter.com/rhJZz1Fq21 — George (@BehizyTweets) January 13, 2025 Besides the Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland, multiple other local departments are forgoing assistance this year. But as stated, it seems as though these departments have a particular issue with the Capitol Police, not the inauguration, according to the previously referenced article in the Daily Caller: Howard and Queen Anne’s County police departments, also from Maryland, told the Caller they will not be assisting with inauguration security, although Howard PD said it provided security in 2017. Queen Anne’s told the Caller that it would not be assisting in 2025 due to “technical difficulties.” Frederick County Sheriff’s Department will also not be assisting due to staffing reasons. Anne Arundel County, Maryland State Police, and Prince George’s County all said they would be helping Capitol Police — but not MPD — with security. This suggests that these departments have a particular problem working with MPD, not with the inauguration itself. Only two departments of the nine who responded to the Caller stated they would be coordinating with MPD for the inauguration. Frederick City in Maryland plans to send about 20 officers, and Loudoun County in Virginia will send around 30 deputies, according to spokespeople for the departments. The ceremony will now be held in the rotunda, along with President Trump’s inaugural address. BREAKING: Trump confirms he will be sworn in INSIDE the Capitol on Inauguration Day This makes me feel a lot safer. pic.twitter.com/0xPhcAxrQJ — johnny maga (@_johnnymaga) January 17, 2025 The parade is also being altered, replaced with a rally of sorts in the Capital One Arena after the inaugural speech, according to a report by NBC Channel 4 in Washington: Trump’s swearing-in ceremony will be conducted in the rotunda, where he will also deliver his inaugural address. Then, instead of the traditional parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, the president will join supporters at Capital One Arena after his speech. “We will open Capital One Arena on Monday for LIVE viewing of this Historic event, and to host the Presidential Parade,” Trump posted on social media. “I will join the crowd at Capital One, after my Swearing In.” Outdoor areas on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol, which were intended for tickets guests, will now be closed to those guests Monday, Capitol police said in a statement. The size of the redirection efforts after that last minute change in plans must be monumental. Imagine the church picnic, planned for outdoors, suddenly moved inside because of impending rain. My own high school graduation was moved, last minute, from the football field to the auditorium because of lightning — and that was a huge undertaking. But this — this must be a complete nightmare for the people who set up all those chairs outside! Imagine being the guy who just set up 100,000 chairs on the National Mall and they announce they’re moving the inauguration indoors pic.twitter.com/ddH1k4tBYT — Geiger Capital (@Geiger_Capital) January 17, 2025 At any rate, there is little doubt that the safety of the President and all who are gathering for this historic occasion is much better guarded without the parade and outside swearing-in ceremony. Meanwhile, thousands of troops are deploying across the Capital, taking up their positions to engage any threats that may develop. HOLY SH*T 5000+ Troops are being deployed to DC to protect Donald Trump on Inauguration WE NEED TO PROTECT TRUMP AT ALL COSTS GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS pic.twitter.com/szjkY3SJld — MAGA Voice (@MAGAVoice) January 17, 2025 The number made available was actually closer to 8,000; but who’s counting!? With just one day until President Trump finally takes the official reigns of American power in his hands, I am sure he would appreciate all of our prayers for not only his safety, but for all those attending, and the nation. This isn’t over yet; it’s just beginning. And the fact is, anything can happen. We will be bringing you coverage of all the inauguration happenings from now until the event itself, and praying for safety as the minutes tick closer.

State Lawmaker Proposes Bill Prohibiting Fluoride In Public Water Systems

A Tennessee lawmaker has filed legislation that would amend the law regarding the state’s standards for safe drinking water by prohibiting fluoride in public water supplies. “Senator Joey Hensley has filed a bill which would amend the law regarding Tennessee’s standards for safe drinking water by making fluoride a prohibited substance in public water supplies,” Fluoride Action Network wrote. TENNESSEE – "Senator Joey Hensley has filed a bill which would amend the law regarding Tennessee’s standards for safe drinking water by making fluoride a prohibited substance in public water supplies." pic.twitter.com/DunD21xWRA — Fluoride Action Network (@FluorideAction) January 17, 2025 From The Tennessee Conservative: SB0162 appears in the lineup for the 2025 legislative session after reports circulated toward the end of last year that the topic could be addressed in the General Assembly this year, and the bill would mark a significant change to Tennessee’s water standards as approximately 88% of residents served by community water systems receive fluoridated water, according to the TN Department of Health. The current laws regarding TN water safety standards ban actions like defiling or damaging system infrastructure, discharging sewage in or near the supplies, and withdrawing or pumping too much water from the system if it could negatively impact customers. The language of SB0162 will simply add a subsection to this portion to the existing laws by making adding fluoride to, “a public water system by the supplier of water who owns, operated, or controls the public water system,” another prohibited action. This bill could become rather controversial as many community water suppliers and oversight bodies, including the TN Department of Health, look to advice and recommendations from agencies like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Center for Disease Control, and American Dental Association, all of whom wholeheartedly endorse the use of fluoride. Senator Joey Hensley has filed a bill which would amend the law regarding Tennessee’s standards for safe drinking water by making fluoride a prohibited substance in public water supplies.https://t.co/GxwfmJNXTf — Tennessee Conservative News (@TnCoNews1) January 17, 2025 “SB0162- Utilities, Utility Districts – As introduced, prohibits public water system operators from adding fluoride to their water systems,” WSMV 4 noted. The proposed legislation follows last year’s federal court ruling that water fluoridation at current U.S. levels presents an “unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment, without consideration of costs or other non-risk factors, including an unreasonable risk to a potentially exposed or susceptible subpopulation under the conditions of use.” Biden EPA To Appeal Water Fluoridation Court Ruling Days Before Trump Takes Office “In a decision that could end the practice of water fluoridation in the U.S., a federal judge late Tuesday ruled that water fluoridation at current U.S. levels poses an ‘unreasonable risk’ of reduced IQ in children. The @EPA can no longer ignore that risk, and must take regulatory action, Judge Edward Chen of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California wrote in the long-awaited landmark decision,” Children’s Health Defense wrote. “More than 200 million Americans drink water treated with fluoride at the ‘optimal’ level of 0.7 milligrams per liter (mg/L). However, Chen ruled that a preponderance of scientific evidence shows this level of fluoride exposure may damage human health, particularly that of pregnant mothers and young children,” the organization continued. “The verdict delivers a major blow to the EPA, public health agencies like the @CDCgov and professional lobbying groups like the American Dental Association (ADA), which have staked their reputations on the claim that water fluoridation is one of the greatest public health achievements of the 20th century and an unqualified public good. Fluoride proponents refused to reexamine that stance despite mounting scientific evidence from top researchers and government agencies of fluoride’s neurotoxic risks, particularly for infants’ developing brains. Instead, they attempted to weaken and suppress the research and discredit the scientists carrying it out,” it added. ? Fluoride is an industrial waste associated with arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurodevelopmental disorders, and thyroid disease,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President Trump’s nominee for Health and Human Services secretary, said in November. “On October 4 ,an Obama appointed Federal Judge held against EPA after reviewing thousands of scientific studies and weeks of expert testimony ruling that the agency had improperly approved this dangerous neurotoxin,” he added. So far, the EPA has also chosen not to respond or make a statement to media outlets,” Fluoride Action Network wrote. “It’s important to note that the EPA’s decision has no binding effect on the incoming administration and EPA administrator, who could independently assess the ruling and the science behind it and choose not to pursue an appeal. This could happen as soon as day one of the new administration,” it added. - FAN PRESS RELEASE - EPA Files Notice of Appeal This afternoon, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) notified the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California that they plan to appeal the federal court ruling that water fluoridation “poses an unreasonable… pic.twitter.com/jSPrUkhqH7 — Fluoride Action Network (@FluorideAction) January 18, 2025

Laken Riley Act Clears Senate Hurdle, 10 Democrats Join

The Senate cleared the filibuster to advance the Laken Riley Act, putting the bill one step closer to being signed by President Trump after he takes office. Senators voted 61-35 to end debate on the legislation, with 10 Democrats joining every Republican. Senate breaks filibuster on Laken Riley Act, 61-35. The bill would mandate the deportation of any illegal alien found guilty of crimes, from homicide to shoplifting. It is the first immigration bill in decades to be passed without an amnesty amendment. Follow: @AFpost pic.twitter.com/KMidv4UA5l — AF Post (@AFpost) January 17, 2025 From The Hill: Democrats who voted “aye” were Sens. Ruben Gallego (Ariz.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), Jon Ossoff (Ga.), Gary Peters (Mich.), Jacky Rosen (Nev.), Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.), Maggie Hassan (N.H.), Mark Warner (Va.) and Elissa Slotkin (Mich.). Gallego and Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who did not vote, were co-sponsors of the legislation. The vote tees up final passage of the immigration-related bill in the upper chamber early next week. It will need to head to the House for approval once again before Trump can sign it. The legislation would mandate federal detention of immigrants without legal status who are accused of theft, burglary and assaulting a law enforcement officer, among other things. “This bill is a small but critical step to resolving the Biden border crisis — the first of many I might add,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said on the floor Friday morning ahead of the vote. The bill would require Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain illegal immigrants arrested for burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting. First Senate Democrat Sponsors Laken Riley Act Requiring Detainment Of Illegal Immigrants Arrested For Certain Crimes The legislation also authorizes states to sue the federal government for failing to enforce immigration law. The measure is named after Laken Riley, the 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student who was found dead on the University of Georgia’s campus. 26-year-old Jose Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of Riley. BREAKING: The U.S. Senate has voted 61-35 to advance the Laken Riley Act. A final vote is expected on Monday. pic.twitter.com/nW2lOJPSNQ — America (@america) January 17, 2025 Per Axios: It's a specific, popular, bipartisan bill. But it also hands Thune a chance to prove he's serious about promises made during the GOP leadership election. Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) told Axios: "What we can feel good about is we're having a lot more conversations about what we're doing." Scott ran against Thune for leader. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) told Axios that Thune "says what he means and means what he says when he talks about having a more open amendment process." Lee wants a more open process and backed Scott in November. Thune spent days haggling with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer over the bill, which requires ICE to detain immigrants charged with or convicted of theft. WATCH:
