The Washington Post has been hemorrhaging subscribers and web traffic for years. Late last year‚ the paper conducted yet another round of layoffs‚ impacting hundreds of employees. Jeff Bezos purchased the paper for $250 million a decade ago‚ and last year alone‚ it managed to lose roughly $100 million. This is not a profitable venture‚ and in normal circumstances‚ businesses that lose this much money don’t stay around very long. But the Washington Post has stuck around. Jeff Bezos has kept it on life support to fulfill a specific mission‚ which is to harangue and censor independent voices on behalf of Jeff Bezos’ donors in the Democratic Party. A couple of days ago‚ that mission was on full display. On March 21st‚ The Washington Post published an article entitled‚ “Women are getting off birth control amid misinformation explosion.” The Daily Beast ran a similar story‚ warning ominously of an “explosion” of women who are ditching birth control amid a “misinformation blitz.” First of all‚ it needs to be said that any time the media collectively decides to label something “misinformation‚” they really mean “information that we find personally or politically inconvenient.” They’re not interested in proving you wrong‚ they’re interested in shutting you up. And that’s exactly what’s happening here. As the Washington Post piece says: “Brett Cooper‚ a media commentator for the conservative Daily Wire‚ argued in a viral TikTok clip that birth control can impact fertility‚ cause women to gain weight and even alter whom they are attracted to. It racked up over 219‚000 ‘likes’ before TikTok removed it following The Post’s inquiry.” The piece goes on to describe other similar videos that the Post also wants to be deleted from the internet. For example‚ this one‚ from Ben Shapiro’s show a year ago: It’s hard to imagine a more anodyne clip than that. This is not a woman making up crazy‚ unhinged conspiracy theories about birth control. She’s not expressing some dangerous‚ unscientific opinion. She doesn’t even appear to be political. She’s just articulating a very reasonable‚ increasingly common concern‚ which is that taking unnatural hormones might have some unexpected and unwanted effects on the human body. Even if you don’t know anything about the scientific data on this point‚ that’s not a crazy thing to believe. But as that clip goes on‚ they do talk about some of the research on this point. None of this is quack science. It’s widely accepted in medical literature. WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show For example‚ a recent study out of Denmark‚ published in the American Journal of Psychiatry found that‚ “hormonal contraception use doubles the risk of suicide attempt‚ and triples the risk of suicide.” The study specifically found that “the association between hormonal contraception and primary outcomes peaked at 2 months‚ but continued even after the cessation of hormonal contraception for some years.” The researchers also reported that hormonal contraceptives were connected with a 70% increase in rates of depression. Before I get into the specifics of what other studies have found‚ it’s important to pause here and take another look at how the Washington Post is framing this story. Here’s the first paragraph: Search for ‘birth control’ on TikTok or Instagram and a cascade of misleading videos vilifying hormonal contraception appear: Young women blaming their weight gain on the pill. Right-wing commentators claiming that some birth control can lead to infertility. Testimonials complaining of depression and anxiety. … Physicians say they’re seeing an explosion of birth-control misinformation online targeting a vulnerable demographic. The implication of what the Post wrote is that it’s “misinformation” to say that birth control is related to “depression and anxiety.” But that’s not true. At no point in the Washington Post’s article did they debunk the study from Denmark. They don’t even mention it. Instead‚ they simply state‚ as a matter of fact‚ that you’re crazy if you link birth control to weight gain‚ infertility‚ or depression. They claim the only significant side effects of birth control medication are blood clots. But they’re wrong‚ on all counts. One of the main reasons they’re wrong is that hormonal birth control inhibits the body’s natural reaction to stress. As a UCLA Health study put it late last year: Researchers at the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences’ Laboratory for Stress Assessment and Research found contraceptive users and non-users processed stress differently at the molecular level‚ with contraceptive users also reporting a more negative psychological response to stress compared to non-users. Is it possible that disrupting the body’s natural stress response might lead to weight gain‚ given that weight gain is one of the most common symptoms of stress? The Washington Post thinks you’re a science denier if you even suggest that. They’ll have you pulled off TikTok if you even mention the possibility. And that’s weird‚ because less than a year ago‚ NBC News ran this report‚ in which their medical experts explain that weight gain and hair loss are among the symptoms of hormonal birth control. Watch: I guess we’re expected to believe that at some point between May and this week‚ the science changed. But actually‚ it didn’t. Going back to the UCLA study‚ researchers confirmed existing research which found that: hormonal contraceptive pills may increase women’s risk for chronically elevated inflammation‚ which carries the long-term risk of developing illnesses such as cancer‚ cardiovascular disease‚ and autoimmune disorders‚ as well as potential mood disorders‚ including depression. The lead author at UCLA added: Cortisol gets a bad rap‚ but increases in cortisol in response to stress help the body manage stressful situations. … If women on the pill are having these increases in cortisol but their mood is getting worse‚ it could mean that the pill is preventing their bodies and minds from returning to normal following stress. The truth is that hormonal birth control does come with all kinds of risks and side effects. All drugs do. Drugs that suppress the normal‚ healthy functions of the body are always especially risky. And that includes potential impacts on fertility‚ as much as the Washington Post doesn’t want to admit it. Right now‚ if you go to the Planned Parenthood website‚ you’ll find that they recommend a method of hormonal birth control known as “the Depo shot.” The depo shot (AKA Depo-Provera) is an injection you get once every 3 months. It’s a safe‚ convenient‚ and private birth control method that works really well if you always get it on time. What Planned Parenthood doesn’t mention on their website is that the “depo shot” has clear and proven impacts on fertility. This is from the WebMD website‚ which on most days‚ the Washington Post agrees is a reliable source:  Injectable birth control (Depo-Provera): Unlike other forms of hormonal birth control‚ it may be harder to get pregnant after you stop getting these shots. It may take 10 months or more before you ovulate again. For some women‚ it will take up to 18 months for periods to start again. So this is a method of hormonal birth control that does impact fertility after you stop taking it. In fact‚ it can make women infertile for a very long time. This isn’t some conspiracy theory — and neither is the idea that hormonal birth control can contribute to weight gain‚ depression and suicide. The same sources that the Left tells us to trust at every opportunity — established medical researchers — are very clear on this. But the “trust the science” crowd has suddenly become very distrusting of science. And that’s not the only platitude they’re abandoning in order to censor anyone who speaks critically about birth control. Remember “my body‚ my choice?” If these people really believed in the “my body my choice” mantra‚ they would celebrate‚ or at least accept‚ that an increasing number of young women are choosing to forgo birth control. But birth control is central to their cultural agenda. This is the real crisis that the Washington Post and the other Left wing rags are worried about. The last thing that the elites want to see is a movement of women fully embracing their own womanhood‚ and men fully embracing their manhood. A move back towards the family‚ away from materialism and self-preoccupation and towards marriage and parenthood. These people have been waging a war on the family for decades‚ and the birth control pill is their nuclear bomb. The family is the greatest threat to them. And a society full of families — of intact‚ happy families‚ with attentive mothers and strong fathers — that is a society that has rendered these people powerless. That is their fear. And they fear it like they fear nothing else. And politically‚ of course we know that unhappy career middle managers at Citibank are one of the core constituencies of the Democratic Party. If they rebel‚ Democrats will have real trouble winning another election. And they’re willing to do anything — including lying to women about the serious and even fatal drug side effects of birth control‚ and so many other drugs — to prevent that from happening.

A trans-identifying man from Pennsylvania pleaded guilty on Thursday to killing a 12-year-old girl in 2022. Joshua Cooper‚ now 18 and who identifies as female and goes by Ash‚ admitted to killing the young girl‚ Morgan Connors‚ his “best friend‚” while they were watching Netflix together. Cooper pleaded guilty to several charges including third-degree murder‚ possession of an instrument of crime‚ and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. A Bucks County judge on Thursday sentenced Cooper to 15 to 40 years in jail followed by seven years of state supervised probation. Also on Thursday‚ authorities revealed Cooper was adjudicated delinquent‚ the same as a guilty verdict in adult court‚ in a previous unrelated sexual assault case before the murder‚ the Bucks County Courier Times reported. The victim in the sexual assault case was in the courtroom on Thursday and provided a victim impact statement to the judge. Few details around the murder have been revealed. The deadly incident occurred on November 25‚ 2022 while the pair were watching Netflix in a bedroom at Cooper’s trailer park home in Bensalem Township just east of Philadelphia. Court documents show that Cooper‚ then 16‚ said he was cleaning and organizing his father’s gun safe‚ and at one point Connors went to use the bathroom. Cooper somehow ended up shooting her‚ but Cooper’s mother ended the police interview before he could tell the rest of the story. After the murder‚ Cooper allegedly called another girl via Instagram video chat claiming to have just killed someone and asking for help cleaning up and disposing of the body. The girl told her mother that she saw blood and legs in the background of the video chat‚ and her mother called the police. When police arrived‚ they saw Cooper running out of the back of the trailer. Inside‚ officers found the body of a girl with her pants around her ankles on the bathroom floor. She died as a result of a single gunshot wound to her neck and thorax area‚ an autopsy found. Cooper initially claimed he had accidentally shot the girl with his father’s hunting rifle. A note was found in Cooper’s bedroom after the murder‚ but it has not been made public. Cooper was charged as an adult‚ but he has been held at the Bucks County Juvenile Detention Center since his arrest. He was originally charged as Joshua Cooper but now identifies as female‚ and his attorney requested that the court recognize him as Ash Cooper instead. Paul Lang‚ Cooper’s attorney‚ referenced Cooper’s “difficult upbringing” in court and said that “taking responsibility” was a “big step in the healing process.” Allen Gold‚ Connors’ grandfather and legal guardian since she was a baby‚ also provided a victim impact statement to the court. “Parents should not have to bury a child. The human heart was not designed for such heartbreak‚” Gold wrote‚ adding that the young girl was “my whole world” and had called him dad from the time she began talking.

On Monday‚ House Republicans threatened to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress over materials from special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents. Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a letter to Garland that claimed the Department of Justice (DOJ) is withholding materials that are responsive to their subpoenas‚ specifically citing audio recordings of Hur’s interviews with Biden as well as the transcript and audio recordings of Hur’s interviews with Biden’s ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer. “The February 27 subpoenas create a legal obligation on you to produce this material‚” Comer and Jordan wrote. “Accordingly‚ the Committees expect you to produce all responsive materials no later than 12:00 p.m. on April 8‚ 2024. If you fail to do so‚ the Committees will consider taking further action‚ such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings.” The Daily Wire reached out to the DOJ seeking comment. Hur’s report‚ which was released last month‚ criticized Biden’s retention of classified records following his service as a U.S. senator and vice president‚ but the prosecutor declined to recommend charges. The report described Biden as a “sympathetic‚ well-meaning‚ elderly man with a poor memory” whom a jury likely would not convict “of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.” Biden and the White House have pushed back against Hur’s characterizations in his report‚ but Garland insisted last week that it would have been “absurd” for someone in his position to have edited or censored the special counsel’s explanation. Following the release of Hur’s report‚ Comer and Jordan announced they had subpoenaed Garland‚ declaring in a cover letter that the DOJ failed to produce any of the materials they had previously requested — including transcripts‚ notes‚ video‚ and audio files. The chairmen suggested that documents retained by Biden may be pertinent to the corruption-focused impeachment inquiry into the president and said they wanted to know if the White House or Biden’s personal attorneys placed any limitations or scoping restrictions during the interviews. Comer and Jordan also wrote the Judiciary Committee sought materials for its oversight of the DOJ’s “commitment to impartial justice and its handling of the investigation and prosecution of President Biden’s presumptive opponent‚ President Donald J. Trump‚ in the November 2024 presidential election.” On the March 7 subpoena deadline‚ the department provided an “insufficient production that only included letters exchanged between President Biden’s legal counsel and the Department‚ along with an offer to review two classified documents in camera‚” the lawmakers wrote in their new letter. Comer and Jordan said they notified the DOJ on March 9 that the production was “inadequate” and demanded the department produce “all” materials responsive to their subpoenas by the afternoon of March 11‚ one day before Hur testified before the House Judiciary Committee about his investigation. Yet again‚ the DOJ “failed to comply” with their deadline‚ instead informing committee staff “that an ‘interagency review’ for classified and confidential information was still pending‚” the lawmakers wrote. A little more than two hours before Hur was scheduled to testify‚ the DOJ produced two redacted transcripts of the special counsel’s interviews with Biden‚ they added. Federal law enforcement officials reportedly raided two homes belonging to rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs on Monday in connection with a sex trafficking investigation. Multiple publications reported that agents with the Department of Homeland Security conducted the raids at his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. The raids come after a federal investigation was launched into Combs‚ 54‚ in response to a wave of civil lawsuits that were filed against him late last year. Three women and one man have been interviewed by federal investigators “in relation to allegations of sex trafficking‚ sexual assault‚ and the solicitation and distribution of illegal narcotics and firearms‚” NBC News reported‚ according to a source familiar with the investigation. At least three more people are scheduled to be interviewed by investigators‚ the report said. On Sunday night on CBS’ “60 Minutes‚” Andrés Manuel López Obrador‚ the president of Mexico‚ explained that Mexico is going to continue to give the United States the runaround‚ on everything from mass illegal immigration being facilitated by the drug cartels across America through the southern border‚ to the importation of literally tons of fentanyl‚ which is killing over 100‚000 Americans every single year. It’s very clear that Mexico has been giving the United States the runaround. Even a senior fellow at the Left-wing Brookings Institution  — who directs the Initiative on Nonstate Armed Actors and the Brookings series ”The Opioid Crisis in America: Domestic and International Dimensions” — said last week‚  “Mexico eviscerated cooperation to a bare minimum because President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration has been unwilling and uninterested in mounting any serious law enforcement policy toward Mexican criminal groups.” It’s important to understand that Mexico is run by the drug cartels that bring in all the revenue. They kill anyone who gets in their way. They control the entirety of the length of the southern border of the United States. I have visited that border‚ and I can confirm they are flying Mexican drug cartel drones above American territory because they control the border. According to that Brookings Institute representative‚ “Mexico continues to calculate that it can get away with only sporadic‚ minimal‚ and inadequate counternarcotics collaboration as long as it leverages its ability to hamper or permit the flow of undocumented migrants to the U.S.-Mexico border and as long as the United States depends on it for migration control.” WATCH: The Ben Shapiro Show Obrador was asked if the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) was wrong in saying that the drug cartels were mass-producing fentanyl and if the State Department was wrong in saying most of the fentanyl was coming out of Mexico. He answered that the DEA and the State Department were‚ indeed‚ wrong‚ then added‚ “Or rather‚ they don’t have all the information because fentanyl is also produced in the United States. … Fentanyl is produced in the United States‚ in Canada‚ and in Mexico. And the chemical precursors come from Asia.” He’s lying. The vast majority of fentanyl is being trafficked across America’s southern border. The cartels are in league with China‚ who is sending the precursor chemicals for fentanyl creation to Mexico. They used to pour pure‚ uncut fentanyl into Mexico for it to then be trafficked across the southern American border. But the United States put a bit of pressure on China under the Trump administration‚ and the Chinese government decided they were going to send precursors instead. They would use a legal fiction that would send all the ingredients‚ process all of it in Mexico‚ and then press it into pill form. That pill form doesn’t always look like fentanyl pills; sometimes it looks like drugs such as Adderall‚ which is why you’re seeing people who are being poisoned by fentanyl. Obrador was asked‚ “What would happen to the U.S. if they closed the border?” “You would not be able to buy inexpensive cars if the border is closed‚” he answered. “That is‚ you would have to pay $10‚000‚ $15‚000‚ more for a car. There are factories in Mexico and there are factories in the United States that are fundamental for all the consumers in the United States and all the consumers in Mexico.” When he says the United States can’t shut the border‚ what he is referring to is the flow of cars across the border. That is not the same thing as the United States being unable to stop the illegal migration across the border. Every single Democrat in the Senate voted against an amendment from Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) that would have prevented federal funds from being used by the Biden administration to fly illegal immigrants into the interior of the United States. The vote came after Todd Bensman at the Center for Immigration Studies reported that a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit led to the disclosure that 320‚000 “inadmissible aliens” flew into the U.S. in 2023‚ taking advantage of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s One app. While it was not clear where the migrants were flown‚ the report said they arrived at 43 different airports across the United States. “I’m bringing forward a vote on a very simple question. Hagerty previously authored an amendment that would have prevented illegal immigrants from being counted in the Census for apportioning seats in the House of Representatives‚ thereby inflating the political power of districts with large numbers of illegal immigrants. All Senate Democrats voted against this amendment from Hagerty as well. “I think that this proves the motive behind the crime on our border‚” Hagerty said‚ adding‚ “They want these illegal migrants in here to create more electoral power for them in their blue states. They’re basically creating sanctuary cities to be a magnet so these people will disproportionately flow to these blue states.” “The estimates are as high as 10 million people that have come here. The figure poses a sharp contrast with the 415‚000 total reported gotaways for 2018‚ 2019‚ and 2020 under the Trump administration. While millions of illegal immigrants have entered the United States‚ the Biden administration failed to file court papers in connection to illegal immigration cases‚ resulting in 200‚000 deportation cases being dismissed. A February poll from Pew Research found 80% of Americans said the government was doing a poor job handling the influx of migrants at the border while a more recent Harvard CAPS-Harris poll found that 36% of voters believe that immigration was the biggest issue facing the country.

Police cam footage caught the heart-dropping moment an officer used lightning-fast reflexes to save her K9 partner from a 75-foot fall.
