Nikki Haley Says She’s No Longer Bound To Honor Pledge To Support Trump If He Wins GOP Nomination

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley suggested on Sunday that she may no longer honor the Republican National Committee pledge that she signed last year to support the eventual GOP presidential nominee because she believes the RNC is becoming too close to former President Donald Trump. Haley‚ who has yet to come close to beating Trump in any of the GOP primary and caucuses thus far‚ made the remarks during a Sunday interview on NBC News’s “Meet The Press” with Kristen Welker. “You did sign a pledge‚ an RNC pledge to support the eventual nominee‚” Welker said. “Do you still feel bound by that pledge?” “I have always said that I have serious concerns about Donald Trump‚” Haley responded. “I have even more concerns about Joe Biden.” Welker pressed Haley again‚ “So‚ is that a no? Are you bound by the RNC pledge?” “The RNC pledge – I mean‚ at the time of the debate‚ we had to take it to where‚ ‘Would you support the nominee‚’ and in order to get on that debate stage‚ you said yes‚” Haley responded. “The RNC is now not the same RNC. Now‚ it’s Trump’s daughter-in-law.” Welker again pressed Haley: “So‚ you’re no longer bound by that pledge?” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “No‚ I think I’ll make what decision I want to make‚” Haley responded. “But that’s not something I’m thinking about. And I think that while you all think about that‚ I’m looking at the fact that we had thousands of people in Virginia. We’re headed to North Carolina. We’re going to continue to go to Vermont and Maine and all these states to go and show people that there is a path forward. And so‚ I don’t look at what ifs. I look at‚ ‘How do we continue the conversation?'” WATCH: WATCH: @NikkiHaley says she doesn’t feel bound by the RNC pledge — which she took to get on the debate stage — to support the eventual Republican nominee. “I think I'll make what decision I want to make.” pic.twitter.com/3H37jwOE5D — Meet the Press (@MeetThePress) March 3‚ 2024

Mayorkas Says Feds ‘Not Notified’ About Suspected Laken Riley Killer’s Alleged Crimes‚ Blames Sanctuary City

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas called out over the weekend after he rejected the notion that the federal government bore responsibility for the murder of a student in Georgia student last month who was allegedly killed by an illegal alien. Police arrested 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra‚ a Venezuelan national‚ late last month for allegedly murdering 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student Laken Riley. CBS News “Face The Nation” host Margaret Brennan asked Mayorkas on Sunday about Riley’s death and whether Ibarra should have been deported earlier since he was arrested multiple times in different jurisdictions across the country. “The suspect had been detained by Border Patrol upon crossing‚ released with temporary permission to stay in the country‚” Brennan said. “He then went on allegedly to commit crimes twice‚ once in New York for driving a scooter without a license‚ and once in connection with a shoplifting case in Georgia.” “Did those states and their law enforcement communicate to the federal government that this had happened?” she asked. “Should this man have been deported?” Mayorkas responded‚ “As a prosecutor‚ having prosecuted violent crime and other crimes for 12 years‚ one individual is responsible for the murder‚ and that is the murderer. And we work very closely with state and local law enforcement to ensure that individuals who pose a threat to public safety are indeed our highest priority for detention and removal.” WATCH: WATCH: Biden DHS Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas has to read from notes in response to the murder of 22-year-old Laken Riley by an illegal alien. Mayorkas refuses to admit the murderer should never have been in America in the first place. pic.twitter.com/JVNy9jVJRn — Steve Guest (@SteveGuest) March 3‚ 2024 Mayorkas went on to say that the federal government was not notified by other jurisdictions that Ibarra might pose a threat to public safety and claimed the Biden administration works to ensure dangerous illegal aliens are detained and deported. Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin‚ one of the leading reporters covering the border crisis‚ responded to Mayorkas’ remarks on X. “Mayorkas points finger at sanctuary city here but it was the Feds who first released Ibarra into the U.S.‚ like hundreds of thousands of other adult men‚ and they continue to mass import Venezuelans into the U.S. via controversial use of parole authority‚ knowing 99% will never leave or be deported because Venezuela won’t take its citizens back‚” Melugin wrote. “So far DHS has paroled over 86‚000 Venezuelans into the U.S. using the parole program (completely separate from the hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans crossing illegally) despite the fact that U.S. law is specific in that parole is only to be granted on a ‘case by case’ basis for urgent humanitarian reasons (medical procedure‚ funeral‚ etc)‚ or significant public benefit (testify in a trial as a witness etc)‚” he continued. “According to ICE data‚ only 834 Venezuelans were deported in fiscal year 2023‚ despite 335‚000 Venezuelans being encountered in the same year. They aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.” Mayorkas points finger at sanctuary city here but it was the Feds who first released Ibarra into the U.S.‚ like hundreds of thousands of other adult men‚ and they continue to mass import Venezuelans into the U.S. via controversial use of parole authority‚ knowing 99% will never… https://t.co/JlgxINAznZ — Bill Melugin (@BillMelugin_) March 3‚ 2024

Democrat Scolds People Who Don’t Think Supreme Court Justices Want To Delay Trump Trials

A House Democrat on Sunday chided anyone who does not believe the Supreme Court has justices who want to delay former President Donald Trump‘s trials in the lead-up to the 2024 election. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD)‚ a former constitutional law professor who led the January 6-focused impeachment inquiry against Trump‚ talked about the high court with former White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki on her MSNBC program. The conversation followed the Supreme Court announcing on Wednesday that it was taking up the issue of whether Trump can invoke presidential immunity to shield himself from federal prosecution in a 2020 election case brought by special counsel Jack Smith. “These justices know what their powers are‚ right? They know the court’s schedule. They have the same calendar. Do you look at this court and think some of these justices may want to delay these trials?” Psaki asked. .@jrpsaki: "Do you look at this court and think some of these justices want to delay these trials?"@RepRaskin: "Yeah. If you don't believe that‚ you're too innocent to be let out of the house by yourself at this point." pic.twitter.com/Z0YI3r0cJH — Inside with Jen Psaki (@InsideWithPsaki) March 3‚ 2024 Raskin replied‚ “Well‚ yeah. If you don’t believe that‚ you’re too innocent to be let out of the house by yourself at this point.” He added‚ “This is a court driven by both Trump nominees and Bush nominees‚ and neither of those guys was elected with a popular vote majority.” That leaves the United States‚ according to Raskin‚ with a Supreme Court “that is representing the choices of minority presidents.” The Supreme Court scheduled an oral argument for the week of April 22‚ 2024‚ raising doubts among legal experts that a trial could be held before the election in November. Smith sought to have the high court fast-track consideration of the matter last year but was denied. Trump has pleaded not guilty in the case in which he is accused of unlawfully plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 election. His lawyers filed to dismiss the case in October by arguing that Trump’s actions were “within the heartland” of his “official duties.” They also cited presidential immunity in a request to get a documents case also spearheaded by Smith dismissed. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The Supreme Court is expected to rule on a bid to remove Trump from the ballot in Colorado under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment‚ an insurrection clause dating back to the Civil War‚ over his actions leading up to the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6‚ 2021.

Love at Second Sight: Reba McEntire Describes Touching Way She Was Drawn To Rex Linn After Reconnecting

Reba McEntire admitted that she didn’t feel an instant attraction to her boyfriend‚ Rex Linn‚ the first time she laid eyes on him. But when they reconnected decades later‚ she was drawn to him like a “magnet.”  The Grammy-winning songstress has been with her beau for more than three years. The two initially met in 1991‚ when they were filming The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw. At that time‚ she was married to her ex-husband‚ Narvel Blackstock‚ so the relationship was strictly platonic.  The two “kept in contact over the years” because they had a mutual friend‚ but they had another in-person run-in when Reba guest starred on Young Sheldon just before COVID-19 hit. After filming that day‚ they met up for a group dinner‚ and sparks flew.  “Melissa [Peterman] says that that was our first date‚ because‚ I mean‚ I was like a magnet to Rex‚” Reba said during a visit on The Drew Barrymore Show. I just couldn’t get close enough to him‚” she told Barrymore. “I don’t know why. We had talked and communicated throughout the years—had a mutual friend‚ Ed Gaylord‚ and we stayed in contact. But for some reason‚ that night was just so special.” Meet Reba McEntire and Rex Linn—”The Tots” The night got even more special when Rex gave his sweetheart a new nickname—Tater Tot. The idea came after the duo went out for some post-dinner drinks and Reba ordered some for a snack.  Reba noted that her sister came up with an equally adorable nickname for Rex a few months later.  “Later on‚ during the pandemic‚ I was in Oklahoma with my sister‚ Susie‚ and she said‚ ‘You know‚ he gave you ‘Tater Tot.’ Let’s give him ‘Sugar Tot.'” So we’re “The Tots‚” Reba gushed.  “Sugar and Tater‚” she continued. “How about that? Is that not cute? We’re grown people!”  Reba McEntire went on to admit that Rex Linn was the first man she ever felt magnetized to‚ and it was “the greatest thing ever.” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here.
