Gold certificates are denominated in U.S. dollars. Their value is based on the statutory price for gold at the time the certificates are issued. It does not fluctuate with the market price of gold and has been constant at $42 2/9, or $42.2222, per fine troy ounce since 1973. Why it matters: Beginning in North Carolina later this week with her first policy speech, and continuing next week with the Democratic convention in Chicago, Harris will tell Americans — most for the first time —who she is and how she’d govern. Harris won’t say it this bluntly in public, but her advisers do so privately: She wants to break with Biden on issues on which he’s unpopular. First up: rising prices. The attack has disrupted various city servers and appears to have compromised data, reports the Colombia Dispatch. The ransomware group Rhysida says it’s behind the hack, listing a trove of new data for sale on the dark web. Although officials have released few details on the attack, the Columbus Division of Police First Assistant Chief LaShanna Potts says early signs show significant damage was done. “We have been impacted significantly by a foreign cyber-attack designed to disrupt the city’s IT infrastructure.
