Emma Patterson, an inspiring single mom with a huge heart, raises nearly 40 kids in addition to her own. To Emma, loving a child isn't about providing a roof over a child's head; it's a lifestyle. She's dedicated her life to fostering and loving children since opening her home in the 1980s, in addition to four of her biological kids. At 88, Emma is retiring after decades of selfless service, having profoundly impacted the lives of countless young people. Her own children would bring home friends who needed help, whether they required winter coats, food, or just a place to stay. Recognizing these children’s need for care and love, Emma embraced the role of a nurturing mother. Her home became a sanctuary for many, including newborns from hospitals who had nowhere else to go. "My children started bringing children home that the parents more or less had discarded. Some of kids maybe didn't have coats or needed shoes. Some were just hungry and my children would bring them home and I would do the best I could," she said. She would foster as many as nine kids at a time. This included infants, some as young as a day old. "They were born drug-addicted babies and they couldn't let them go home with their parents. They stayed with me all of their lives," she added. Loving Children is a Way of Life For Emma Emma views her role as a foster parent not merely as an act of kindness but as a lifestyle rooted in deep, personal values. "Loving children isn't just an act of kindness; it's a way of life," she said. "I believe that by offering them a loving environment, we give them the foundation to grow into compassionate and capable adults." I hope her story inspires others to help vulnerable children and families as well.” Where did Emma get this ocean-deep well of love to nurture so many kids? She thanks both of her grandmothers for setting the example of loving others. She wanted to offer that same warmth and care to every child who came through her door. No arrests were made.   From the New York Post: A heavy law enforcement presence was spotted outside the property for the duration of the raid, though it wasn’t immediately clear if the feds seized anything. The couple had owned the expansive home that was raided until transferring it into a trust in March, property records show. Sun has worked in various government roles across the Empire State for 15 years — including both the Hochul and ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo administrations, according to her LinkedIn profile. While working as a Hochul aide, Sun focused on business development, Asian American affairs, and diversity, equity and inclusion, her profile shows. Sun, who attended both Barnard College and Columbia University, left her executive chamber role after 15 months and took a job with the New York State Department of Labor in 2022. “After leaving state government, Sun went to work as campaign manager for Democrat Austin Cheng in an unsuccessful run for Congress on Long Island,” NBC New York noted. Sun has also served as deputy chief diversity officer and director of Asian American Affairs for the NYS Executive Chamber, director of external affairs for Global NY at Empire State Development and chief of Staff to NYS Assemblymember Grace Meng. In Nov. 2022, she moved to a job at the New York Department of Labor where she served as deputy commissioner for strategic business development, but she departed that job just months later in March of 2023, the profile said. A person familiar with the circumstances of her departure said she was fired after evidence of misconduct was discovered. The matter was forwarded to law enforcement at the time, according to the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss personnel matters. Hastings’ comments at the time were part of a growing chorus from big Democrat donors, particularly those from Hollywood, who called on Biden to step aside. Per NYT, Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, have donated more than $20 million to the Democratic Party in recent years. On Tuesday, Hastings tweeted, “Congrats to Kamala Harris — now it is time to win.” The Information reported that Hastings donated to a Harris-linked super PAC on the recommendation of billionaire venture capitalist and fellow Democratic megadonor Reid Hoffman. She entered the race shortly after President Joe Biden dropped out. Earlier this month, Hastings had called on Biden to step aside, writing in an email, “Biden needs to step aside to allow a vigorous Democratic leader to beat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous.” As calls increased for the president to get out of the race, donations slowed from Hollywood and other sectors. But they appear to be picking back up as Harris has re-launched the campaign.
