Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett slammed President Joe Biden on Sunday for trying to pressure Israel into not responding to Iran’s unprecedented attack this weekend. Bennett’s remarks on social media comes after Iran fired hundreds of projectiles — ballistic missiles‚ cruise missiles‚ and drones — at Israel. Bennett said that claims that Iran launched its attack as a show for its own people were false. “When you shoot 350 flying objects timed to hit Israel at the same moment‚ when you use three fundamentally different weapon types — cruise missiles‚ ballistic missiles and UAVs‚ you’re looking to penetrate Israel’s defenses and kill Israelis‚” he said. Bennett directly pushed back against the Biden administration for telling Israel that it got a “win” and that they should take the win. The “win‚” according to the Biden administration‚ was the fact that 99% of the projectiles were shot down by Israel and its allies in the region. “No‚ it’s NOT a victory‚” Bennett wrote. “When a bully tries to hit you 350 times and only succeeds seven time‚ you’ve NOT won. You don’t win wars just by intercepting your enemy’s hits‚ nor do you deter it. Your enemy will just try harder with more and better weapons and methods next time.” He said that the only way to deter further aggression was by “exacting a deeply painful price.” Bennett said that the attack was a “big mistake” by Iran — which he referred to as “a terror-octopus whose head is Tehran‚ and its tentacles are in Lebanon‚ Yemen‚ Iraq‚ Syria and Gaza.” “Israel’s strategic mistake for the past 30 years was to play along this strategy‚” he said. “We always fought the Octopus’ arms‚ but hardly exacted a price from its Iranian head.” “This should change now: Hezbollah or Hamas shoots a rocket at Israel&;#63; Tehran pays a price‚” he added. Bennett said that Israel’s enemy was the Iran’s oppressive government‚ not the citizens of the country‚ and that the country would eventually collapse in a similar manner as the Soviet Union did. “I’ll be clear: if these crazy fanatic Islamic terrorists get away with murder by hiding among civilians‚ this method will be adopted by terrorists worldwide‚” he concluded. “We’re not asking anyone to fight for us. We’ll do the job. But we do expect our allies to have our back‚ especially when it’s tough — and now it’s tough. The witness moves into a new rural home in the U.S. Northeast. After a few months of exploring the nearby woods‚ he discovers that a horrifying being is roaming the area&;#33; I received the following account:&;quot;It started out a few months ago when we moved into our new home in the U.S. Northeast. I grew up in a rural community‚ but there were plenty of neighbors‚ and mostly fields around. No woods. Given that I am the youngest child‚ my parents waited until I was done with high school to move‚ to not affect my already established life.Although we had always lived in a small‚ rural community‚ my parents were ready for something a little more secluded‚ something with a lot of acreage‚ woods‚ and a place to shoot.They put my childhood home up on the market‚ and soon found their dream home‚ which is where I am currently‚ and desperately writing this story. The house and the property are beautiful. It’s a large‚ turn-of-the-century house facing 15 acres of land‚ the majority of which‚ are woods‚ and a nice half-acre pond. The best part‚ or so I thought‚ is that there are no neighbors within a mile of us.At first‚ I really enjoyed it. Being out in the woods was very much a cathartic experience for me. It helped shed the stresses of school and studying. Being among the tall trees and the surrounding nature made all of my problems seem totally insignificant‚ so I made a habit of going on regular walks through the woods.As the weeks went on‚ I started noticing strange things as I went on my walks. I would find partially eaten deer scattered along the leaf-littered ground‚ accompanied by a putrid‚ rotting smell‚ which I attributed to the carcass in front of me. At first‚ I thought nothing of it. “It was probably coyotes”‚ I would tell myself. Other than that‚ I thought nothing of it but started carrying a gun with me on my walks in case I encountered the animal that was responsible for the carnage I saw in front of me.As the days went on‚ I started noticing more and more mutilated deer scattered across the floor of the woods‚ still accompanied by the rotting smell‚ which I again attributed to the animals.If the increasing number of mutilations weren’t enough‚ I started to notice a change in the sounds coming out of the woods. What was once a cacophony of sounds was now mostly dead silence‚ minus the low‚ guttural growl that seemed to be becoming more prevalent‚ more pronounced‚ and more insidious each day.By this point‚ I had stopped going on my little walks. Gun or no gun‚ I didn’t want to risk the chances of facing whatever was causing these events. That being said‚ my curiosity eventually got the best of me one night as I heard its growls. I decided that I was going to go get a trail cam‚ and set it up out in the woods the following day‚ in hopes of finally seeing what was out there.The next evening‚ after work‚ I gathered up what little courage I had left‚ and‚ camera in hand‚ went walking out into the very woods I had promised myself I would stay out of.I never did get to set up the trail cam. I lost it somewhere in the woods while I was in a panic‚ running for my life.I made it about 100 yards past the tree lines into the woods‚ where I decided to stop and set up the camera. I thought it was a good place to set it up‚ and‚ quite frankly‚ I was too scared to go any further. After all‚ I wanted to spend as little time out there as possible given the ongoing events‚ and the fact that it would be dark soon didn’t help.Already on edge‚ every creak of the wood‚ and every crunch in the leaves sent me into a panic. Rushing to set the camera up‚ I drop it‚ sending it to the leaf-ridden ground with a thud.Murmuring under my breath‚ cursing myself for being out there‚ I bent down to pick the camera up‚ when I started to smell that putrid smell of rotting flesh again. I carefully looked around‚ checking my surroundings to see if anything was out there. I could feel something watching me‚ but I couldn’t see anything.Just as I was finishing picking my supplies off of the ground‚ I heard that low‚ guttural growl again‚ as well as the snap of a branch to my right. I quickly turn‚ seeing a human-like creature standing there‚ staring at me. I was completely frozen with fear. It had human features: standing on two legs‚ and it had feet and hands. The two things that threw me off‚ however‚ were the fact that its skin was charred black‚ as if it had been burnt in a fire‚ and‚ most disturbingly‚ it had no upper or lower lips. Although mostly bald‚ a few thin‚ straggling hairs stuck every which way out of its scalp.Its sharp teeth were hanging out like hypodermic needles. With the absence of lips‚ its raw‚ red gums hung out in the open. Thick strings of what appeared to be saliva dripped off of its chin in a persistent stream.For one single‚ brief moment‚ the world around me seemed to stop. I quickly went through options on what to do. There were really only two viable options: either stay exactly how I was‚ and get attacked‚ and most likely killed by this thing‚ or I could get the hell out of there. I chose the latter.I quickly scrambled to my feet‚ and ran as fast as I could‚ throwing my camera‚ in vain‚ at the creature behind me. In the chaos of what had just occurred‚ I found myself to be momentarily lost after running in what I thought was the right direction for what felt like 20 minutes‚ but I’m sure was only 30 seconds. Looking around and not seeing the spawn of hell that I had just encountered‚ I stopped to collect myself‚ and try to find the way back to the house.I finally decided on the general direction in which I should head‚ when I heard a commotion that almost sounded like a horse pounding its hooves on the dirt. I looked behind me and saw that thing‚ whatever it was‚ running at me on all fours‚ mucous-like spit flying out of the corners of its mouth‚ like a rabid dog.I ran as quickly as I possibly could without daring to look behind me. Although I would not look at it‚ I could hear it galloping behind me and smell its rotted flesh.Tears ran down my eyes‚ as I thought that there was no way possible to make it out of the woods alive when I finally saw the lights of my house out of the clearing. Using what little adrenalin I had left to sprint the 200 yards or so to my back porch‚ I quickly opened the door and slammed it shut‚ not daring to look out the window.It’s been about a month now since that happened. I haven’t told anyone‚ and I will not dare to go back out in those woods. I’ve been doing a lot of research to see if I could find any clues as to what that thing might have been. I’ve exhausted myself‚ but I think I may have come to a conclusion. The closest thing I could find was possibly a skinwalker. 3 brief‚ but interesting‚ Army infantry Bigfoot encounter accounts that occurred at or near Fort Lewis Army Base‚ now Joint Base Lewis-McChord‚ in the 1960s-1970s.&;quot;In 1966 in Pierce County‚ Washington at Fort Lewis Army Base (Joint Base Lewis-McChord) My sighting occurred on February 27‚ 1966 while stationed at Fort Lewis‚ Washington. It was me and four other men out on survival training in the Nisqually River Basin about 30 miles south of Tacoma‚ Washington. We decided to go to the river that day to catch some fish.As we approached the river we could see the creature was kneeling by the water. Then as we walked towards it the creature stood up on two legs and looked at us and then turned and walked into the river and swam easily to the other side. When it reached the other side it turned toward us and looked for about 10 minutes. Then it turned and walked into the forest. The thing that got our attention was the way it moved. It walked for about eight yards on two legs just like a man. We stood and watched it. I would say initially it was only 10 to 20 feet from us. We could see it very clearly it stood. It was 8 feet tall and had kind of reddish brown hair covering most of its body except for its hands and face. The head was the shape of a man. It appeared to have no neck. The mouth was large with protruding lips. We saw no teeth‚ it did not bare its teeth. Its nose was quite large and lay flat against its face. The encounter lasted for 20 minutes and not once during this time was there any sign of aggression. It seemed more curious than aggressive. We returned to our camp more amazed than fearful.&;quot;Here's another one from Fort Lewis Army Base in 1978:&;quot;My name is Carol and I'm about to tell you about my domestic partner Tim. He was in the Ninth Infantry Division‚ Third Battalion‚ 47th Infantry Combat Support Recon platoon in North Fort Lewis. He was on aggressor detail in the Mount Rainier training area.It was late one night and he wanted to get off alone. He walked off the ways from his Army bud so he could have a smoke and eat something. He was crouching down and had some small piece pieces of wood so he could heat up his beef stew. Then he felt he was being watched by something. He turned around and only a few feet away‚ leaning against the tree‚ was this Bigfoot. He didn't seem afraid. He just stared at Tim. The Bigfoot was tall and slender‚ Tim thought that the creature was probably very young. Tim also said the Bigfoot had the reddest eyes he had ever seen and to the best of his knowledge they could have been bloodshot eyes. Tim said he chose that area to relax because there was some green moss on the ground. He stopped at that point to smoke and heat up his can of stew.His stint in the Army was from 1977 to 1979 at Fort Lewis‚ He never told any military what he saw because he thought they wouldn't believe him. But Tim would never make up this story. He's a quiet private person who usually keeps everything to himself. He gave me permission to use his real name which is Timothy R. Reas. His rank was Spec 4.&;quot;Here's another Fort Lewis Army Base account:&;quot;We marched out the day before and built a three-rope bridge for the Rangers. It was in the training area Northwest of the old C5 mockup or training aircraft. It was oddly clear and the moon was bright. A fellow soldier and I were sitting in a foxhole around 4:00 a.m. in the morning when my buddy suddenly exclaimed‚ &;quot;What the hell is that&;#63;&;quot; When I looked directly in front about 25 yards I witnessed something that scared me. It was a human form‚ 7-8 feet tall walking with a slight hunch about the shoulder andmaking a low grunting noise. This thing was just unbelievable. There was a slight musky odor but not too bad. It smelled like a wet dog. Anyway‚ my friend and I told our story to our squad leader and he just laughed. He spoke to our first sergeant and we were known as 'The Two Bigfoot Hunters' after that. We wouldn't mention it anymore. But listen up folks‚ there are things out there on the base that are unimaginable. I always said that I would have I would have to see it to believe it. Just to explain‚ he's ex-British Army‚ not scared of anything‚ and super practical. He became a lorry driver about 1975 I think this was not long after he started.So this happened about 5:00 AM on a summer's day. It was a bit misty like you get some mornings early but bright‚ and he was heading out of London on the A3. He was driving his lorry‚ and up ahead was a young woman‚ in her early 20s in a long blue dress standing by the side of the road. It must have been before the A3 was dueled‚ and all the barriers were put up. So Dad sees her and thinks she's waiting for a ride to work. Just as he's about to go past her‚ she jumps in front of his lorry. He immediately slams on the brakes‚ as he's sure he's hit her‚ but he doesn't feel a bang where else could she be&;#63; A couple of cars stop to see what's going on‚ Dad shakily explains and the drivers kindly offer to stay while he looks for her under the lorry. Dad looks‚ and she's not there. Other drivers look and there's nothing. No body‚ no blood‚ no sign of anyone. They all freak out a bit and then decide leaving ASAP is a great idea&;#33; He can't explain it‚ he knows she was there and he hit her. He spent the rest of his driving career avoiding that route.” MC-----May 2018 - Nevada: “I have a weird Nevada story. Last May‚ I went for the first time to Las Vegas and rented a car to go see the desert (also my first time in a real desert)‚ to take photos of the starry night sky as far away as possible from light pollution. I drove all the way to Rachel‚ and then after the sunset‚ I started driving back toward LV. I stopped here due to the wide shoulder. I set up my tripod and camera and started taking long exposures. While I was doing that‚ I heard footsteps. I had a good bright LED flashlight so I turned it on and as I started to go all around the car‚ the footsteps stopped. I scanned in all directions and saw nothing.Maybe it was my imagination‚ so I continued taking more photos. The footsteps started again‚ and again I scanned all around with the flashlight. The footsteps stop and I see nothing. I walk back to my tripod and camera‚ wondering if I should take more photos and I hear more footsteps&;#33; So I grabbed my gear‚ threw it in the car‚ and got the hell out of there.” WB-----&;quot;I have two freaky things that have happened. First‚ middle of the night with a buddy we pulled off to the side of the highway to relieve ourselves and switch drivers. Nobody else is around on the road. I walk to the side‚ pitch black. My buddy is just stretching his back or whatever. I heard something in the woods shake a tree. No other way to describe it‚ a tree about 30 feet away shook. Then I hear something BIG crashing through the woods coming straight for us and the car. My buddy and I don't even say anything‚ he dives in the driver's side and I jump through the passenger window‚ pants still down. He floors it out of there‚ legs and pants dangling outside. Never did see anything in the rearview mirror but there was something out there coming at us. My buddy likes to say he heard me stop peeing when that tree shook.Second‚ I was solo somewhere in West Virginia‚ again middle of the night. I got off an exit‚ one of those long curvy ones. I saw lights before I got off and assumed it was exit stuff‚ or maybe even construction. Get to the exit and it's not construction‚ it's a ton of Army or National Guard guys. The exit was lit up brighter than daytime‚ so many lights were set up pointing everywhere. The Army guys were completely decked out‚ gas masks on and assault rifles. They were sprinting around. One guy at the corner was frantically waving me through to get back on the highway. I gunned it out of there.I looked in the news later and didn't see anything‚ no idea what was going on that night. I was at work. Yes‚ it was a dirt road. I was trying to get into Kanawa State Forest‚ but I had no cell signal and no map‚ so I was kinda winging it. I went back to a really scenic road‚ with rhododendrons‚ rock faces‚ steep mountains‚ etc. I thought I had to be near the forest. And really everybody I encountered up to that point had been very nice‚ they all just wanted to know where I was from because I didn't have a heavy accent. But then there was the MPs‚ they didn't know the meaning of nice‚ and I was too damn scared to argue. I had to back up for a good 1/8 mile or so because I couldn't even turn around‚ they escorted me to the main road‚ gave me directions to Kanawa and to the interstate and I was happy to be rid of them. So any clue what was so secret back that road or what happened&;#63; If it was a mine access road‚ could there have been a mine gas explosion‚ or were they mining specifically for the military&;#63; I can't remember exactly‚ but it was either a Tuesday or a Wednesday. I had been staying in hotels on the weekends and camping and hiking during the week. I was really trying to avoid the weekend crowds of campers and families. It was two weeks before Memorial Day weekend. Like I said I didn't want to run into all the families doing their start of summer camping trips and parties on Memorial Day weekend. It is probably possible they were doing a training exercise during the week also‚ but I just found it odd the way they acted about it. I've seen the National Guard do some training and preparedness stuff and they usually tell you straight up that it's a training exercise. A dark‚ fur-covered 'wolfman' jumps in front of the witness' vehicle. The beast has a terrible odor deep green eyes and a long snout. The beast swipes at and injures the witness.I received the following account:&;quot;I wish to keep my name to myself‚ but I am willing to provide my account of what happened. This is a first-hand account of an encounter that I had with a creature of unknown origin.It was about five years ago‚ late at night. I went for a walk in the dark to clear my head one night when I got the feeling that I was being followed. Before I could say anything a dark‚ fur-covered creature lunged out of the nearby bushes. It looked like a large man crossed with a wolf. It had deep green eyes and an elongated snout. The thing smelled like a rotting deer carcass and it was very heavy.It slammed into me‚ knocking me to the ground where it stood over me and growled as it looked me in the face. I kicked it and it yelped before swiping at me‚ cutting my arm with its sharp claws. I was sure it was going to kill me‚ but then a noise similar to a car with a broken muffler backfiring scared it and the creature ran away. Strangely‚ my arm no longer felt like it was bleeding‚ and the cut wasn't hurting anymore.My shirt sleeve was torn but when I wiped away the wet blood from my arm‚ there wasn't even a scratch left behind. I was sure that it was just a bad dream and so I headed back home. I never reported this because I was certain that nobody would believe me‚ and because it has been haunting me every day since. I haven't seen this creature since it ran off into the woods when that sound scared it off‚ but I sometimes worry that it might come back. I also don't know why the scratch on my arm was gone moments after the thing ran off. Everything I've found about it online has said that it was a werewolf‚ but I don't think those are real. It also isn't like the Dogman or any other similar kind of creature.If you have heard of anything else like this‚ I would be interested to hear about it. The PBS NewsHour led its Tuesday evening newscast with the week’s big issue: abortion‚ an issue of such apparent import (and perceived advantage to the Democratic Party in November) that both anchors took a biased crack at it before the segment itself. Co-anchor Geoff Bennett: Arizona will soon be the latest state with a near-total abortion ban after the state's Supreme Court revived a 160-year-old law. The law provides no exceptions for rape or incest. And‚ in its 4-2 opinion‚ the conservative majority wrote -- quote -- &;quot;Physicians are now on notice that all abortions‚ except those necessary to save a woman's life‚ are illegal.&;quot; Co-anchor Amna Nawaz: Doctors who perform abortions could face criminal prosecution and prison time‚ though the Democratic attorney general says she will not prosecute. It's the latest test of the limits on abortion since the Supreme Court ended federal abortion protections from the decades-old Roe v. Wade decision…. After a soundbite from Arizona’s Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs saying the “abortion ban is extreme and hurts women‚” Bennett introduced journalist Carter Sherman‚ who writes from the United States for the left-wing UK paper The Guardian about (ahem) “reproductive health.” The outlet in question -- and that euphemism for abortion -- were two hints that what’s about to unfold won't hew to PBS’s congressional mandate for &;quot;strict adherence to objectivity and balance in all programs or series of programs of a controversial nature.” Bennett: What's the expected impact on women's health care in Arizona and in the surrounding region&;#63; Sherman: Arizona has been a critical release valve for places like Texas‚ which have a total abortion ban on the books right now. So‚ if we ban abortion totally‚ or almost totally‚ in Arizona‚ there's going to be plenty of people throughout the Southwest who previously might have fled to Arizona for abortions who will now have to travel even farther out. Abortion rights supporters also say that this could have massive impacts on things like maternal mortality. So there's going to be really wide-ranging effects‚ really across the region in a variety of health areas. They pivoted to the political repercussions. The takeaway: Good for Democrats. Carter Sherman: I think that this decision today is going to make Arizona one of the biggest battlefields‚ particularly in abortion‚ but also in the presidential race‚ also in the Senate race‚ in the 2024 elections. What we're looking at here is a potentially very galvanized population outraged by the overturning of Roe‚ outraged by a near-total abortion ban‚ and those people might decide to go to the polls en masse and vote not just for abortion rights‚ but also for Democrats…. Arizona's Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs responded to today's court decision. Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-AZ): Arizona's 2022 abortion ban is extreme and hurts women. And the near-total Civil War era ban that continues to hang over our heads only serves to create more chaos for women and doctors in our state. As governor‚ I promise I will do everything in my power to protect our reproductive freedoms. Geoff Bennett: Carter Sherman covers reproductive health for The Guardian and joins me now. Thanks so much for being with us. Carter Sherman‚ The Guardian: Thank you for having me. Geoff Bennett: So‚ the Arizona State Supreme Court lifted a stay on this 1864 law that was passed before Arizona was a state. Help us understand how they arrived at this decision. Carter Sherman: So this ban has been the source of court battles and chaos since the overturning of Roe almost two years ago. What happened is‚ after a very long period of litigation‚ the Supreme Court of Arizona decided today that‚ since there is no more Roe v. Wade‚ there is no reason why this 1864 ban should not go into effect. Now‚ what's unclear at this point is when exactly that ban will fully take effect and be enforceable‚ in the words of the court. Abortion providers and their supporters are at this time really trying to figure out what this decision means for all the people on the ground in Arizona. Geoff Bennett: How is it that the Civil War era law supersedes the previous law that the legislature passed and the previous governor signed in 2022 that made abortion accessible up to 15 weeks&;#63; Carter Sherman: When the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion nationwide in Roe v. Wade in 1973‚ that meant that there were several laws across the country that dated back decades that were no longer going to be in effect. And many of these laws were never really‚ truly dealt with. They just went dormant. And so‚ when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe in 2022‚ suddenly‚ all of these states‚ including Arizona‚ had to deal with these so-called zombie laws that they had not ever really fully reckoned with. Arizona had also in 2022 passed a separate 15-week abortion ban. But what happened was that 15-week abortion ban and this near-total abortion ban from 1864 just sort of coexisted‚ and they weren't really harmonized in any kind of way. In this case‚ in particular‚ Planned Parenthood has argued that these laws needed to be harmonized‚ and that's why that the 15-week ban should be allowed to stand over the 1864 ban. That's not the argument that the Arizona Supreme Court accepted today. Geoff Bennett: Well‚ in the meantime‚ Arizona's attorney general‚ Kris Mayes‚ says she will not prosecute any doctor who performs abortion procedures. Mayes says that this is a collective effort with the state's governor. How is that being received by county prosecutors‚ who could potentially use their own discretion&;#63; Carter Sherman: I think that there are many‚ many questions about what it really means for an official like Mayes to say that she will try to hold off on any kind of prosecutions of abortion providers. The providers that I have talked to and I have heard from don't necessarily feel like they are totally in the clear at this point‚ and they are confused about what it means moving forward if they were to provide abortions. Geoff Bennett: What's the expected impact on women's health care in Arizona and in the surrounding region&;#63; Carter Sherman: Arizona has been a critical release valve for places like Texas‚ which have a total abortion ban on the books right now. So‚ if we ban abortion totally‚ or almost totally‚ in Arizona‚ there's going to be plenty of people throughout the Southwest who previously might have fled to Arizona for abortions who will now have to travel even farther out. An effort is already under way right now to put a measure on the 2024 ballot that would enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution. How might this affect not just the presidential election‚ but that key Senate race‚ that hotly contested Senate race in Arizona&;#63; Carter Sherman: I think that this decision today is going to make Arizona one of the biggest battlefields‚ particularly in abortion‚ but also in the presidential race‚ also in the Senate race‚ in the 2024 elections. What we're looking at here is a potentially very galvanized population outraged by the overturning of Roe‚ outraged by a near-total abortion ban‚ and those people might decide to go to the polls en masse and vote not just for abortion rights‚ but also for Democrats. There's actually been‚ since the decision came out today‚ many Republicans in the state saying: This was a bad idea. I don't support this decision. And some of them had said that they will work to try to figure out a way back to this 15-week abortion limit and not a near-total abortion ban. I have covered this issue for many years. I have covered it long before Roe was overturned. And I have never really seen this sort of immediate 180 from Republicans in this way on this issue.
