Addie Rodriguez was supposed to take the field with her dad during a high school football game, where he, along with other dads, would lift her onto his shoulders for a routine. But Addie's dad was halfway across the country, unable to make the event.Her father is Abel Rodriguez, a veteran airman who, after tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was training at Travis Air Force Base in California, 1,700 miles from his family in San Antonio at the time."Mom missed the memo it was parent day, and the reason her mom missed the memo was her dad left Wednesday," said Alexis Perry-Rodriguez, Addie's mom. She continued, "It was really heartbreaking to see your daughter standing out there being the only one without their father, knowing why he's away. It's not just an absentee parent. He's serving our country."But as Addie sat there in front of the game's crowd, with no one to join her on the field, someone ran toward her. That person was Central Catholic High School senior Matthew Garcia, who went to her after realizing she was the only cheerleader without a partner.Garcia told local news station FOX 29, "I ran down from the bleachers right here, and I just hopped the fence, and I went over, and I kneeled down, I talked to her and I said, 'Are you OK?'"He then lifted Addie onto his shoulders just like the dads did with their daughters so she could participate in the routine. “Male Squad member” Jamaal Bowman — the man who “accidentally” pulled a fire alarm in a U.S. Capitol office building — is facing a primary challenger who looks to be crushing him. In the most recent poll of the race, which is set to take place June 25, Bowman trails his challenger, George Latimer, by a full 17 percentage points.  Things just got worse this week for Bowman — and in an embarrassing way. A group representing black voters, the National Black Empowerment Action Fund, plans to invest at least $500,000 in an effort to unseat Bowman.  The group’s founder, Darius Jones, explained that it jumped into the race because of Bowman’s extreme positions. Bowman, a radical progressive, said just yesterday, “The Israeli government is committing a genocide.” Earlier, he claimed that reports of Israeli women being raped during Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack were a lie, before later walking back those claims. In a press release, the National Black Empowerment Action Fund called Bowman “an extreme Democratic Socialist.” Jones stated, “We’re trying to champion an effort to help amplify the voices of Black voters who are focused on safe communities, good-paying jobs, driving down the cost of living, having school choice for their kids, health care and just realizing better life outcomes.… And it’s going to take responsible leadership that’s keenly focused on those priorities as opposed to far-flung ideologies and agendas.” Bowman has gone too far to the left for many liberal voters to stomach. But for those on the most extreme left, he remains a champion, as earlier this week the Democratic Socialists of America lent him its endorsement. Latimer, Bowman’s challenger, said in response to that endorsement, “After desperately begging for support from a group that wants to pull the US out of NATO; end sanctions against Russia, North Korea, and Iran; wipe Israel off the map; stonewall President Biden’s agenda; and legalize fentanyl, my opponent was endorsed by DSA….
