A paper they put together that was published in the journal Cureus lays out how the researchers came to this determination. The risk period in the study was defined as 10 days or less following injection with “vaccination day” representing Day 1. The control period was defined as day 11 through day 180. Two groups were established based on age with Group 1 representing individuals aged 65 and older‚ and Group 2 representing individuals aged 64 or younger. Group 1 saw 1‚311 deaths and Group 2 saw 247 deaths.
