NASA Knows What The ";Mystery"; Spacecraft Orbiting The Moon Is

Elsewhere on the Internet‚ you may have read of a ";mystery"; object photographed orbiting the Moon‚ which has been identified by NASA.The photos‚ which are real‚ show a thin dark streak above the lunar surface‚ moving at an apparent great speed. The image was captured by NASA';s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) but despite media reports of mysterious ";surfboards"; flying above the Moon‚ there is no great mystery as to what the object is‚ and there never has been.The LRO';s camera (LROC) was poised and ready to capture the image‚ which they needed to be as the object beneath it was traveling at relative velocities of over 3.2 kilometers per second (2 miles per second).";Due to the fast relative velocities between the two spacecraft (about 7‚200 miles‚ or 11‚500 kilometers‚ per hour)‚ the LRO operations team at NASAs Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt‚ Maryland‚ needed exquisite timing in pointing LROC to the right place at the right time to catch a glimpse of Danuri‚ the Republic of Koreas first spacecraft at the Moon‚"; NASA explained in a statement.During three orbits that happened to be close enough to Danuri‚ the LRO captured images from up to 8 kilometers (5 miles) above it.Danuri captured from 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) above.Image credit: NASA/Goddard/Arizona State UniversityCapturing the image required split-second timing and fast shutter speeds‚ but despite this blurring was still inevitable. ";Although LROs camera exposure time was very short‚ only 0.338 milliseconds‚ Danuri still appears smeared to 10 times its size in the opposite direction of travel because of the relative high travel velocities between the two spacecraft‚"; NASA explained.The South Korean spacecraft is also capable of taking photographs. Using the NASA-funded instrument ShadowCam‚ the orbiter captured an image of LRO in April 2023.The orbiter‚ passing overhead.Image credit: NASA/KARI/Arizona State UniversityNow‚ thanks to excellent timing from NASA‚ we have both views.

World-First Footage Shows A Leopard Hunting Roosting Baboons At Night

An African leopard hunting yellow baboons at night is the dramatic scene that kicks off Mammals‚ the latest series from Sir David Attenborough and the BBC. The world-first footage demonstrates how these animals incredible sight adaptations have enabled them to proficiently stalk and kill prey under the cover of darkness‚ even when they';re 20 meters (66 feet) up a tree.Yellow baboons (Papio cynocephalus) are active during the day and when night falls‚ they clamber into the trees to rest in a sleeping grove thats usually located at the center of their territory. The advantage of being off the ground is that theyre safer from terrestrial predators‚ but as the world-first clip demonstrates‚ few places are safe when youre dealing with African leopards.Leopards vision is specialized for hunting at night‚ as they have a reflective layer behind the retina called a tapetum that can amplify the smallest amount of light. The first episode‚ Dark‚ is all about showcasing the remarkable ways wildlife have evolved to be active at night time‚ and the African leopard (Panthera pardus pardus) is the real poster animal when it comes to getting things done in the dark.I have to say it is the most astonishing thing to witness‚ said Stuart Armstrong‚ producer for the episode. In complete darkness‚ all you can see is the screen of your camera and spotting scopes which we use to highlight to the cameraman what';s going on.Diurnal prey are generally easier to sneak up on at night. That is‚ until they go and roost in a bloody tree.Image credit: screen grab‚ BBC StudiosThe leopards only hunt on the darkest night. If the moon is half full‚ they wait for it to set‚ so they have the advantage. They can see in what to me is pitch black. But they';re not just seeing in pitch black; they are also running around in the canopy and jumping from branch to branch. They can judge distance in order to get their dinner.That took my breath away.Sir David AttenboroughThe team successfully captured the moment a yellow baboon became that dinner‚ in a moment Armstrong said was Pretty gruesome. Even though it';s black and white‚ you can see the blood dripping down the branch.The sequence even shocked the master of natural history filmmaking himself.When it comes to natural history‚ it takes a lot to knock the socks off Sir David Attenborough.Image credit: BBC Studios / Alex BoardThat took my breath away‚ said Sir David Attenborough at a preview of Mammals. How you saw that at night it was just breathtaking‚ and exciting for me.Much of the episode focuses on how some species have adapted to be active at night in response to a predator thats extremely active during the day us. Our impact is further studied in the episode The New Wild‚ which includes world-first coverage of a group of wolves that have been able to claim a patch of land humans dont want by somehow working out where all the landmines are buried.Youll also see the ";splooting"; spectacle of heat-dumping Harris antelope squirrels‚ chimps digging for honey (and refusing to share)‚ and orcas kidnapping a humpback whale calf using slipstream. Turns out we mammals really are amazing‚ and you can catch all of this and more on BBC One and iPlayer.

Real-life Joker: Scott Lotan‚ a man who suffers from uncontrollable laughter

In the dimly lit corners of a bustling restaurant‚ amidst the clinking of glasses and the murmur of conversation‚ a mans laughter rises above the din. Its not the laughter of joy or amusement‚ but rather an uncontrollable‚ jarring cackle that draws uneasy glances from nearby diners. This is the daily reality for individuals like Scott Lotan from Virginia Beach‚ who live with Pseudobulbar Affect (PBA) a neurological condition characterized by involuntary and inappropriate outbursts of laughter or crying.The condition‚ which affects countless individuals worldwide‚ has recently been thrust into the limelight by the portrayal of Arthur Fleck‚ the titular character in the popular movie Joker and its anticipated sequel. Played by Joaquin Phoenix‚ Flecks struggles with PBA become a central theme in the narrative‚ resonating with those who experience similar symptoms in real life.For Scott Lotan‚ PBA is more than just a plot device; its a formidable challenge that complicates the simplest of daily activities. His experiences‚ such as being refused service at restaurants or inadvertently provoking confrontations‚ highlight the social stigma and misunderstandings surrounding the condition. The publics perception of PBA is often mired in confusion‚ with many mistaking the laughter for mockery or insensitivity.I have had issues with not being served at restaurants and been asked to leave because waitstaff were uncomfortable‚ he previously told LadBible. Many times if I am out for a drink with friends‚ there is someone with low self-esteem that believes I am laughing at them and they will try and start a fight.The condition gained further attention when Lotan recounted the harrowing experience of uncontrollable laughter at the scene of a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of his mother and fiance. I remember being at the scene laughing and being questioned by police‚ he said.The incident‚ which occurred in 2003‚ underscores the profound impact PBA can have on personal tragedies‚ often leaving those affected feeling isolated in their grief.At the wakes for both my mother and my fiancee I would have to separate myself from everyone as I would burst into laughter at times.PBA is typically associated with other neurological conditions‚ such as brain injuries‚ multiple sclerosis‚ and stroke. It arises from disruptions in the neural pathways that regulate emotional expression‚ leading to episodes that are incongruent with the individuals actual feelings. While treatment options‚ including medication and therapy‚ can help manage symptoms‚ there is currently no cure for PBA.The portrayal of PBA in Joker has opened a dialogue about the condition‚ offering a rare opportunity for awareness and understanding. As the sequel to Joker approaches‚ it is hoped that the conversation around PBA and similar conditions will continue‚ fostering empathy and support for those like Scott Lotan‚ who navigate life with laughter in the shadows.The post Real-life Joker: Scott Lotan‚ a man who suffers from uncontrollable laughter appeared first on Anomalien.com.

When Will the Cop Killings End?

When Will the Cop Killings End?

Another day‚ another dead New York City police officer‚ another grieving widow.The familiarity of these incidents should breed more than contempt. Instead‚ we get meaningless condemnations from politicians who are responsible for putting district attorneys in office that do not protect the public. Too many of them release career criminals‚ some of whom commit new crimes‚ including the murder of cops.The latest‚ but likely not the last if things dont change‚ is the widow of slain New York City cop Jonathan Diller. Officer Diller was gunned down by a criminal with a lengthy rap sheet. Dillers widow‚ Stephanie Diller‚ 28‚asked a questionthat has been asked by other widows of murdered officers: How many more police officers and how many more families (she and her husband have a one-year-old son) have to make the ultimate sacrifice before we start protecting them? Good question. And the answer is? (see below).In 2022‚ thewidowof another slain NYPD officer‚Dominique Luzuriaga(her husband was Jason Rivera) spoke during his memorial service: The system continues to fail us. We are not safe anymore. Not even the members of the service.Who is responsible for the system? Its not only the people mishandling it‚ though they deserve plenty of blame. System members include New York Governor Kathy Hochul and New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Bragg seems more concerned with getting Donald Trump rather than keeping dangerous criminals off the streets so New Yorkers feel safe and protected. Other big cities with woke prosecutors are experiencing similar tragedies and disrespect for law enforcement in the wake of the defund the police movement.In Los Angeles‚George Gasconis another failed DA who regularly gives get-out-of-jail-free cards to violentcriminalsand other dregs of society. There are others. Some of their campaigns were financed by billionaire lefty George Soros‚ who seems to have bought the view that criminals are unfortunates who havent had good breaks in life. Most people who might be said to have had bad breaks have not turned to crime‚ so that is a weak argument.The ultimate responsibility (and therefore they have blood on their hands)‚ are the people who vote for governors and district attorneys who believe that criminals are victims of (name your excuse) and deserve second‚ third‚ even fourth chances. Too many use those multiple chances in ways any rational person could predict.What are voters thinking‚ especially when they have the power to change things by voting for law-and-order candidates? If Republican Lee Zeldin had won the last New York governors race it is likely he would have ousted Bragg and others who coddle criminals. Too many people vote for a party label and not the policies of the candidate best positioned to fight crime. If voters dont like what is happening‚ they should try something else. Otherwise‚ the blame is on them.We now have whatC.S. Lewiscalled a humanitarian theory of punishment in which the criminal is treated better than the victim and the victims widow and children. The fundraising campaigns‚ while helpful‚ can never make up for the loss of a husband and father no matter how much is raised.These women should not be widows. Their husbands should be home with them and their children. They might not be widows if the criminals were in jail and people felt the streets (and subways) were safe as they once were under previous governors‚ mayors‚ and prosecutors.Every Republican should make replacing soft-on-crime prosecutors‚ mayors‚ and governors a top issue in the November election. If not‚ expect more widows and fatherless children.

Mum! Google Fails to Respond to Bozells Challenge‚ Does Not Refute Election Interference

Does Googles inexplicable silence speak louder than words? It seems that way.Google failed to respond to a scorching letter from MRC President Brent Bozell challenging the tech giant and its parent company‚ Alphabet‚ to officially disprove an MRC Free Speech America Special Report on its election interference activities.Issued on March 26 and addressed to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai‚ the letter gave the tech giant until April 9 to disprove MRCs findings. Americans demand answers‚ and either way‚ I will make sure they have them‚ Bozell wrote at the time. If I do not hear from you by April 9‚ I will have no choice but to make your recalcitrance public.Googles refusal to answer Bozells questions marks a stark departure from the tech giants initially defiant (and unsuccessful) attempt to berate the Special Report as a recycled list of baseless and inaccurate complaints."; But suddenly Google has now gone mum.Unsurprisingly @Google isnt even trying to defend itself for interfering in our elections‚ wrote Bozell in an X post‚ reacting to Googles silence.Google is currently under fire following the release of an insightful report that found Google interfering in U.S. elections a staggering 41 times. Even more disturbing was the fact that in each of those examples‚ Google actively helped the campaigns of the most left-wing candidates.Read the Bombshell Report here!41 Times Google Has Interfered in US Elections Since 2008Googles 16-year effort to help the most left-wing candidates is showing no signs of slowing down‚ as now Joe Biden‚ the scandal-ridden president facing a rocky re-election campaign‚ has also been assisted by the tech giants interference.Googles election interference detailed in the MRCs special report came as a shock to many‚ as the discoveries indicated a broader effort to tarnish non-left-wing candidates. Take the word of Jenn Gennai‚ the director of Googles Responsible Innovation Team‚ who was caught by Project Veritas in 2019 admitting that Google had the power to prevent the next Trump situation her remarks alluding to the electoral changes of Trump. If not us‚ then who‚ Gennai later said.Such silence by Google is unsurprising‚ as the tech giant previously failed to respond to MRCs findings in previous analyses. Most recently‚ Google did not disprove an MRC report that Gemini refused to say that Hamas a foreign designated terrorist organization was a terrorist organization. Im just a language model‚ so I cant help you with that‚ the bot told MRC in October 2023.In 2022‚ Google refused to disprove MRCs first-ever study that caught the tech giant burying the campaign websites of 10 Republicans among the 12 key races in the 2022 midterm elections. ";While we cannot respond to specific claims without seeing the research‚ there is no validity whatsoever to allegations of political bias on Google Search‚ a Google spokesperson told Fox News at the time‚ citing no evidence to back its response.Fast forward to 2024 and Google is still interfering in U.S. elections‚ as evidenced by the MRCs special report published on March 18.In the special report‚ the MRC called on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to direct relevant congressional investigations to prove Google for violating Americans constitutional rights‚ coordinating with government to violate the First Amendment and for interfering in U.S. elections by making unreported in-kind contributions.The report also called on state legislatures to enact laws that amend Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act‚ which judges have determined protects Google from civil lawsuits and other liability issues.Americans should stop using Google products‚ particularly Google Search and instead opt for one of the many alternatives. From our research‚ alternatives appear to produce better‚ less biased results‚ the MRC wrote.Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency‚ clarity on hate speech and equal footing for conservatives. Kimmel‚ Daily Show Lament People Labeling Trump A Moderate On Abortion

As conservatives debate the merits and demerits of Donald Trump endorsing a federalist policy on abortion‚ ABCs Jimmy Kimmel and Comedy Centrals The Daily Show temp host Michael Kosta lamented that such a debate exists because‚ for them‚ even a moderate position on abortion is still extremist.Trumps abortion policy announcement coincided with news from the Arizona Supreme Court that ruled that an 1864 abortion law can be enforced. This did not sit well with Kosta. Amidst booing from the audience‚ Kosta agreed‚ Yeah‚ this is crazy! Boo! Boo! This is crazy! Is Arizona really using an abortion law from the 1860s? Back then‚ there wasn';t even a test to become a doctor. It was just a gross guy saying‚ ";I love looking at scabs. I want to be a doctor.";The show built on irony missed the irony of Kostas proposal that all laws be periodically subject to review‚ and its not just abortion. We shouldn';t be using any Civil War law. At least every hundred years‚ we should just do a review of all the laws‚ you know‚ Guys‚ we still against murder? All right‚ great‚ moving on. All post offices have mandatory horse ties? No? Scrap that one‚ okay.";Kosta then shifted to Trump‚ and after playing a series of clips of the media reporting on his stance as well as Trump supporting IVF‚ he attacked Trumps federalist position‚ Donald Trump now says the states should choose their own abortion laws‚ although‚ I don';t know why that';s considered a moderate position. As a reasonable man‚ I think only some women should be forced to give birth against their will‚ depending on which state they live in. It';s called common sense.";Over at ABC‚ Kimmel incorrectly believed there was a contradiction between Trump appointing three of the justices that overturned Roe v. Wade and leaving the issue to the states‚ Trump appointed three of thosejudges to the Supreme Court‚which led to overturning Roe v. Wade.But now‚ he';s saying he';s notfor a federal law againstabortion.He thinks the decision should be left tothe states.Trump believes that every womanshould have the right to drive600 miles for health care.Kimmel then touched on the criticism Trump has gotten from pro-lifers‚ including Sen. Lindsey Graham and former Vice President Mike Pence‚ but Kimmel didnt think the criticism was real. He thought it was all part of some elaborate plan to make Trump more acceptable to pro-abortion Republicans But with Lindsey Graham‚ this is a game they';re playing because 7 out of 10 Americans believe women should have the right to choose and Republicans are losing elections on this so‚ Trump is gonna be the good guy or bad guy depending on which side you';re on. And then Lindsay will be on the other side‚ fitting hissy‚ saying Trump is too lenient to calm the pro-choice Republicans down. It';s like wrestling‚ but with guys who‚ if you saw them in their underpants‚ you';d throw up.Kimmel then turned to Arizona‚ Meanwhile‚ the Arizona SupremeCourt today ruled that the statehas to follow a law from1864 that makes getting anabortion a criminal offense witha sentence of two to five years.Isn';t that great?We';re playing by the 1864 rulesnow.No‚ performing an abortion could get you sent to jail‚ not getting one.So‚ much for Kimmel the Fact-Checker.Here are transcripts for the April 9 shows:ABC Jimmy Kimmel Live!4/9/202411:40 PM ETJIMMY KIMMEL: Trump appointed three of thosejudges to the Supreme Court‚which led to overturning Roe v. Wade.But now‚ he';s saying he';s notfor a federal law againstabortion.He thinks the decision should be left tothe states.Trump believes that every womanshould have the right to drive600 miles for health care and this is now upsetting a lotof his supporters‚ includingSenator Lindsey Graham‚ whosaid Trump';s making amistake and that';s not the kind of thing Trump likes to hear.From his pals.So‚ he lashed out‚ he wrote ";I blame myself forLindsey Graham‚ because the onlyreason he won in the great stateof South Carolina is because Iendorsed him!";And then he got it from hisformer vice poodle‚ too.Mike Pence wrote‚ ";Trump';sretreat on the right to life isa slap in the face to themillions of pro-life Americanswho voted for him.";Trump did not respond to that.I think he';s scared ofMike Pence.He never responds to-- I think Mike Pence must know toomuch is whats happening there. But with Lindsey Graham‚ this isa game they';re playing because 7 out of 10 Americans believewomen should have the right tochoose and Republicans are losing electionson this so‚ Trump is gonna be the goodguy or bad guy depending onwhich side you';re on.And then Lindsay will be on theother side‚ fitting hissy‚saying Trump is too lenient tocalm the pro-choice Republicansdown.It';s like wrestling‚ but withguys who‚ if you saw them intheir underpants‚ you';d throwup.Meanwhile‚ the Arizona SupremeCourt today ruled that the statehas to follow a law from1864 that makes getting anabortion a criminal offense witha sentence of two to five years.Isn';t that great?We';re playing by the 1864 rulesnow.***Comedy Central The Daily Show4/9/202411:11 PM ETMICHAEL KOSTA: Yeah‚ this is crazy!Boo!Boo!This is crazy!Is Arizona really using anabortion law from the 1860s?Back then‚ there wasn';t even atest to become a doctor.It was just a gross guy saying‚";I love looking at scabs.I want to be a doctor.";It';s likeand its not just abortion.We shouldn';t be using anyCivil War law. Wade was killed bythe Supreme Court and while many Republicans wouldlike the whole country to looklike Arizona‚ Donald Trump‚ the guy who appointed thoseSupreme Court justices‚ is nowtrying to position himself as amoderate on abortion.LESTER HOLT: Now to the race forthe White House.After months of questions‚former President Donald Trumptoday revealing his position onabortion‚ declining to call fora national ban‚ saying he wouldleave it up to the states.DONALD TRUMP: The states will determine byvote or legislation‚ or perhapsboth‚ and whatever they decidemust be the law of the land‚ inthis case‚ the law of the state.At the end of the day‚ this isall about the will of thepeople.JONATHAN LEMIRE: Elsewhere in the video‚ Trumpexpressed support for IVF andabortion exceptions for rape‚incest‚ and when the life of themother is at risk.TRUMP: I strongly support theavailability of IVF for coupleswho are trying to have aprecious baby.KOSTA: Did he just say";Precious baby"; sarcastically?";Congrats on your bundle ofjoy.";Also‚ not the main point herebut that';s more spray tan thanusual‚ right?Your first thought when you seesomeone';s face should never be";Is that cake?";But more importantly‚ yes‚Donald Trump now says the statesshould choose their own abortionlaws‚ although‚ I don';t know whythat';s considered a moderateposition.";As a reasonable man‚ I thinkonly some women should be forcedto give birth against theirwill‚ depending on which statethey live in.It';s called common sense.";Honestly‚ I';m just shocked Trumpcame out in support of IVF.I expected him to be like [TRUMP IMPRESSION] ";Ifyour loser husband can';t get itdone‚ give me a call.I';ll be in and out‚ twominutes.";

Ailes-Hating Vanity Fair Scribe: EEK‚ Here Comes ';Terrifyingly Competent'; Trump!

Remember when the media mocked Donald Trump for being incompetent? Well‚ that is now old news. Nowadays a new narrative is developing that Trump is actually very competent and that terrifies many journalists including Gabriel Sherman‚ a special correspondent at Vanity Fair.Sherman wrote a nasty book about Fox News boss Roger Ailes titled The Loudest Voice in the Room that came out ten years ago. (Trump was mentioned once‚ very briefly.) Hedescribed his terror on Thursday with a piece titled";Inside the Terrifyingly Competent Trump 2024 Campaign."; The subtitle of his horror tale even included this terror alert for others‚ ";How worried should you be? Very.";If Trump wins back the White House‚ his increasingly extreme and violent rhetoric is poised to become policy. The New York Times reported Trump plans to order mass roundups of undocumented immigrants and detain them in deportation camps. Trump has promised to direct the Justice Department to prosecute Joe Biden. At a rally in February‚ Trump said he would encourage Russia to do whatever the hell they want to any NATO country that doesnt increase military spending. Veterans of Trumps first administration are sounding the alarm. He is the domestic terrorist of the 21st century‚ former communications director Anthony Scaramucci has said. Former attorney general Bill Barr testified to the January 6 Committee that Trump was detached from reality.GASP! You mean Trump might use lawfare to imprison his political enemies via a politically weaponized DOJ? Who ever heard of such a thing being done in America? Oh‚ and the sheer shame of actually enforcing immigration laws is absolutely intolerable!And now we come to the real source of poor Sherman';s terror: the new Trump loyalists won';t leak to the leftist press! But heres where a second Trump administration might really distinguish itself. While his 2016 agenda was frequently stymied by infighting and incompetence‚ available signs point to a second West Wing staffed by loyalists who would actually carry out his policies. The takeover of the Republican National Committee‚ which Trump recently completed‚ installing his daughter-in-law Lara as cochair‚ is a blueprint to keep in mind.President Trump knows who can deliver and who cant. The backstabbers who were around in 2016 wont be in this next White House‚ Trumps senior campaign adviser Jason Miller told me....In 2024‚ Trumps inner circle is made up of heads-down operatives Susie Wiles‚ Chris LaCivita‚ Miller‚ and James Blair‚ who dont play their agendas through the media. You have experienced people who dont leak‚ longtime Trump confidant Stone said. Trump trusts his senior team to do their jobs. In the past‚ Trump worked the phone constantly‚ soliciting advice from a wide circle of friends‚ family‚ Manhattan business associates‚ and media personalities. Trumps style of pitting staffers against one another created an incentive to leak. The side whose opinion lost would run to the media‚ a 2020 campaign veteran explained. This time‚ hes not talking to randos.Finally we get an apocalyptic warning from Sherman about competent Trump';s supposed threat to democracy:So how extreme could a second Trump administration get? One thing is certain‚ few of the guardrails that protected American democracy during his first term are still standing....Whether through enhanced discipline or legal circumstance‚ it appears ever more likely that a second Trump administration would be better primed to achieve its goals.Beware! Beware the competent Trump unhindered by the ";guardrails that protected American democracy."; Maybe he will be so competent that using lawfare via a politicized DOJ won';t boomerang on him as has happened to Biden.

Researchers blame explosion of of cancer cases among younger people on ';accelerated aging';

Americans are increasingly suffering cancer at younger ages.The journal Nature noted last month that the number of early-onset cancer cases will increase by roughly 30% between 2019 and 2030. Additionally‚ colorectal cancer‚ which historically has affected geriatric men‚ is now the leading cause of cancer death among men under 50 and is now the second-leading cause of cancer death among young women. Uterine cancer has increase by 2% every year for the past three decades. Early-onset breast cancer has reportedly jumped by nearly 4% annually between 2016 and 2019.";If it had been a single smoking gun‚ our studies would have at least pointed to one factor‚"; said Sonia Kupfer‚ a gastroenterologist at the University of Chicago. ";But it doesn';t seem to be that it seems to be a combination of many different factors.";Various possible factors have been considered‚ including rising rates of obesity; dietary changes and corresponding alterations to gut bacteria; sleep deprivation; increased alcohol consumption; and vaccines.A study presented over the weekend at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting in San Diego suggested that the incredible spike in cancer among younger adults in the U.S. may be the result of ";accelerated aging.";";We all know cancer is an aging disease. However‚ it is really coming to a younger population. So whether we can use the well-developed concept of biological aging to apply that to the younger generation is a really untouched area‚"; Dr. Yin Cao‚ an associate professor of surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and senior author of the research‚ told CNN.Chronological age refers to the period of time an individual has been alive. Biological age‚ also known as physiological age‚ refers to the condition of a person';s body and the state of his genetic material. A chronologically younger person who vapes‚ eats too much‚ doesn';t get enough sleep‚ and/or is genetically predisposed to various diseases could‚ accordingly‚ find himself biologically older than someone who has seen many more sunsets.While cancer has long disproportionately affected chronologically older people‚ Cao and his fellow researchers have come to suspect that the spike in cases of early-onset solid tumors among younger Americans may be the result of increased biological age‚ characterized by ";accelerated aging.";";Multiple cancer types are becoming increasingly common among younger adults in the United States and globally‚"; Ruiyi Tian‚ a researcher from WUSM on Cao';s team‚ told the American Association for Cancer Research‚ referencing increased incidents of cancer in adults under the age of 55. ";Understanding the factors driving this increase will be key to improve the prevention or early detection of cancers in younger and future generations.";";Accumulating evidence suggests that the younger generations may be aging more swiftly than anticipated‚ likely due to earlier exposure to various risk factors and environmental insults‚"; continued Tian. ";However‚ the impact of accelerated aging on early-onset cancer development remains unclear.";Tian and her colleagues examined data from nearly 150‚000 people in the U.K. Biobank database and calculated each individual';s biological age using nine biomarkers found in the blood: albumin‚ alkaline phosphatase‚ creatinine‚ C-reactive protein‚ glucose‚ mean corpuscular volume‚ red cell distribution width‚ white blood cell count‚ and lymphocyte proportion.According to the Cleveland Clinic:Albumin is a protein in blood plasma. Low levels may indicate kidney disease‚ liver disease‚ inflammation‚ or infection. High levels may indicate dehydration or sever diarrhea. Alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme found throughout the human body. High levels of the enzyme indicate liver disease or possible bone disorders.Creatinine is a natural chemical the body uses to energize muscles. High creatinine levels usually signify kidney damage.C-reactive protein is released by the liver into the bloodstream in response to inflammation. Elevated levels suggest serious infections or inflammatory conditions.Glucose or sugar is carried by the blood to all of the body';s cells for energy. Elevated levels of glucose tend to indicate diabetes.Mean corpuscular volume references the average size of a patient';s red blood cells. Low MCV could be a sign of iron-deficiency anemia and other blood disorders. Alternatively‚ high MCV could mean a vitamin B12 deficiency‚ folate deficiency‚ liver disease‚ or bone marrow dysfunction.Red cell distribution width is measured because inconsistency or high variation could be a signal of anemia.White blood cells counts are executed to detect hidden infections‚ immune deficiencies‚ autoimmune disease‚ and other disorders. High and low counts alike indicate possibly serious problems.The researchers‚ whose study was supported by the National Institutes of Health‚ identified individuals whose biological age as indicated by these biomarkers was higher than their chronological age as having accelerated aging.According to Tian and her colleagues‚ individuals born in or after 1965 had a 17% higher likelihood of accelerated aging than those born born between 1950 and 1954. They further found that ";each standard deviation increase in accelerated aging was associated with a 42% increased risk of early-onset lung cancer‚ a 22% increased risk of early-onset gastrointestinal cancer‚ a 36% increase risk of early-onset uterine cancer.";Tian speculated that certain cancer types had stronger associations with accelerated aging because of the natures of the affected tissues. The lungs‚ for instance‚ have a limited ability to regenerate‚ making them more vulnerable to biological aging.";If validated‚ our findings suggest that interventions to slow biological aging could be a new avenue for cancer prevention‚ and screening efforts tailored to younger individuals with signs of accelerated aging could help detect cancers early‚"; said Tian.The American Cancer Society revealed in its latest annual report on cancer facts and trends that over 2 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed this year. In the previous three years‚ the estimate was 1.9 million.Yale Medicine noted that younger adults are ostensibly the only age group with an increase in overall cancer incidence between 1995 and 2020.This year‚ there are altogether expected to be 611‚720 deaths from cancer in the United States.Like Blaze News? Levin: Revealing Biden';s blind eye to China

One tiny country in the Middle East is standing strong in its defense of the Western world‚ and according to Mark Levin‚ our own president is trying to destroy it.Not only is he harming Israel by preventing it from defeating Hamas and funding Iran‚ hes emboldening another enemy through passivity: China.This endangers global stability and has left our allies vulnerable to nuclear threats.China is now conducting military exercises‚ where a number of short and intermediate range missiles have been launched into exclusion zones to the north and south of Taiwan.Were not doing a damn thing about it‚ Levin says‚ disturbed.Irans building nukes‚ were not doing a damn thing about it. Taiwans a sitting duck. Were not providing them with the weaponry that they need at least to have a chance to fight back‚ and we are denuding our own military in the face of it all‚ he continues.While the Biden administration has claimed that U.S. forces will support Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion‚ Levin isnt buying it.He said theyd support Israel see what theyve done? Said theyd support Ukraine‚ but he never supported Ukraine to the extent it was needed to defeat Russia‚ Levin says.This guys a liar‚ and he has set the whole world on fire‚ and our enemies are on the move‚ he adds.Want more from Mark Levin?To enjoy more of ";the Great One"; Mark Levin as you';ve never seen him before subscribe to BlazeTV the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America‚ defend the Constitution‚ and live the American dream.
